• Clickonce installation fails after addition of WCF service project

  So I have a winform solution, deployed via clickonce. Eveything worked fine until i added a WCF project. (see error in parsing the manifest file at end of post) Now I notice that MSBuild compiles the service into a _PublishedWebsites dir. I don't know what the need for this is, but I am suspecting this is the cause of the problem. This wcf project references some other projects within the solution. I am actually hosting the wcf service within the application so I don't really need MSBuild to do all this for me. • ASP.NET. MVC2. Entity Framework. Cannot pass primary key value back from view to [HttpPost]

  I pass a ViewModel (which contains a "Person" object) from the "EditPerson" controller action into the view. When posted back from the view, the ActionResult receives all of the Person properties except the ID (which it says is zero instead of say its real integer) Can anyone tell me why? • Installing .NET 3.5 SP1 on server broke WCF

  I installed .NET 3.5 SP1 on server which previously had .NET 3.0 SP2. Before install site was working perfectly. After install and subsequeny server restart, site displays but anything that makes use of the WCF service has stopped working. The exception log reports exceptions like the following when any calls are made to the client proxy: The communication object, System.ServiceModel.Channels.ServiceChannel, cannot be used for communication because it is in the Faulted state. The server's application event log gave the following errors after the install: Configuration section system.serviceModel.activation already exists in c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Config\machine.config. Configuration section system.runtime.serialization already exists in c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Config\machine.config. Configuration section system.serviceModel already exists in c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Config\machine.config. which seems to be inline with the fact that anything WCF related has stopped working. I am not experienced in server configurations or WCF so looking for any assistance with this. Thanks!! • SQL SERVER – DQS Error – Cannot connect to server – A .NET Framework error occurred during execution of user-defined routine or aggregate “SetDataQualitySessions” – SetDataQualitySessionPhaseTwo

  Earlier I wrote a blog post about how to install DQS in SQL Server 2012. Today I decided to write a second part of this series where I explain how to use DQS, however, as soon as I started the DQS client, I encountered an error that will not let me pass through and connect with DQS client. It was a bit strange to me as everything was functioning very well when I left it last time.  The error was very big but here are the first few words of it. Cannot connect to server. A .NET Framework error occurred during execution of user-defined routine or aggregate “SetDataQualitySessions”: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0×80131904): A .NET Framework error occurred during execution of user-defined routine or aggregate “SetDataQualitySessionPhaseTwo”: The error continues – here is the quick screenshot of the error. As my initial attempts could not fix the error I decided to search online and I finally received a wonderful solution from Microsoft Site. The error has happened due to latest update I had installed on .NET Framework 4. There was a  mismatch between the Module Version IDs (MVIDs) of the SQL Common Language Runtime (SQLCLR) assemblies in the SQL Server 2012 database and the Global Assembly Cache (GAC). This mismatch was to be resolved for the DQS to work properly. The workaround is specified here in detail. Scroll to subtopic 4.23 Some .NET Framework 4 Updates Might Cause DQS to Fail. The script was very much straight forward. Here are the few things to not to miss while applying workaround. Make sure DQS client is properly closed The NETAssemblies is based on your OS. NETAssemblies for 64 bit machine – which is my machine is “c:\windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319″. If you have Winodws installed on any other drive other than c:\windows do not forget to change that in the above path. Additionally if you have 32 bit version installed on c:\windows you should use path as ”c:\windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319″ Make sure that you execute the script specified in 4.23 sections in this article in the database DQS_MAIN. Do not run this in the master database as this will not fix your error. Do not forget to restart your SQL Services once above script has been executed. Once you open the client it will work this time. Here is the script which I have bit modified from original script. I strongly suggest that you use original script mentioned 4.23 sections. • Benefits of migrating my work to a new web development framework?

  When I first started programming with PHP, I was ignorant of other php frameworks (like code igniter, cake php, etc...). So I fell into the trap of re-inventing wheels, which had the benefit of being "fun" and "educational". Overtime, I discovered other open source products that I found useful, like smarty templating engine, jquery library, tcpdf library, fdf etc...so I started bundling these technologies along with things I've built over the years into a LAMP development framework to make life easier for myself. This pass year, I've been having fun developing on the code igniter framework. It does many of the things I do in my framework. Coding in CI feels natural because the MVC and ORM feels similar to the MVC and ORM of my framework. So now I'm contemplating migrating a lot of the plugins in my framework over to CI. The pros and cons I can think of for such a project are: Pros: benefit from the vast community of CI developers lots of other developers will be familiar with it better documentation Cons: I've built a lot of useful plugins against my own framework, and it will take a lot of time to move even just the essential ones at the moment, I still, work faster against my own framework than CI, just because I'm more familiar with it even if I did migrate to CI, there will always be newer and better frameworks in the near future, and i'll be contemplating this scenario again So my question is the following: perhaps I should leave my old framework as is, and for each new project I receive, I make a decision on whether the requirements are best served by developing with CI or my own framework. Is this the right approach?

• Neo4j Windows Plugin Installation desktop V2.M06

  I have downloaded and installed the latest Window V2 Community M06 build of Neo4j on a windows 7 64 bit machine (I have tried the 32bit and 64 bit installs). Installation proceeds without and problems and the system runs normally but there is no /plugins directory (on both versions):- \Program Files (x86)\Neo4j Community\ \Program Files (x86)\Neo4j Community\.install4j \Program Files (x86)\Neo4j Community\bin I am trying to install the Spatial plugin .. so I tried creating the \plugins directory.   I have a very simple AsyncTask implementation example and have problem to test it using Android JUnit framework. It works just fine when I instantiate and execute it in normal application. However when it's executed from any of Android Testing framework classes (i.e. AndroidTestCase, ActivityUnitTestCase, ActivityInstrumentationTestCase2 etc) it behaves sarngely: - It executes doInBackground() method correctly - However it doesn't invokes any of its notification methods (onPostExecute(), onProgressUpdate(), etc) -- just silently ignores them whitout showing any errors.   It was easy to check if VSTO 2005 SE was installed by just calling MsiGetProductInfo() with the product code {388E4B09-3E71-4649-8921-F44A3A2954A7}, as listed in MSDN. What is the product code for the VSTO 2010/4.0 runtime? Or is there a better way to determine if it's already installed? This is for our installation process. Thanks!   I was trying to change my default/main/startup (whatever you call it) activity by editing the androidmanifest.xml file. All i did was change the android:name property. however, this completely broke the entire app. when i try to install it fails and reads Installation error: INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES when i tried to change it back to its previous state, it was still giving me the same error... what have i done!?!?!

  Hi all, I'm setting up a Dell PowerEdge 2950 for a small business, and I've just spent a while with Dell OpenManage Server Administrator 6.2, trying to clear the installation process of errors before I execute it. Right now I'm getting the following warning from the installer. The installer has detected that the HTTPS listener is not configured for Windows Remote Management. You can either configure the HTTPS listener before installing Remote Enablement, or install Remote Enablement now by selecting the "Custom" installation screen and configure the HTTPS listener later. See the "Remote Enablement Requirements" section in the "Dell OpenManage Installation and Security User's Guide" for information on configuring the HTTPS listener. Note: Remote Enablement is required to manage this system from a remote Server Administrator Web Server and is applicable only for those systems that support Server Instrumentation. Click here to configure HTTPs Listener for Windows Remote Management. The italicized line is a link, which executes...something...via cmd, and doesn't seem to help the problem. Not knowing exactly what to do here, I consulted the documentation. I read through the Setup and Administration section of the User's Guide, but all that it contained was a weird primer on role-based security and some SNMP stuff. The next section skips installation entirely and moved on to features of the suite. Thinking myself crazy, I consulted the readme, which told me that for installation I should consult the "Dell OpenManage Installation and Security Version 6.2 User's Guide" which not only doesn't exist in the documentation, but also not in all of google? Soo yeah, if anyone is familiar with this problem, drop me some knowledge!

  I didn't find an explicit answer to this question in the WiX Documentation (or Google, for that matter). Of course I could just write the appropriate registry keys in HKCR, but it makes me feel dirty and I'd expect this to be a standard task which should have a nice default solution. For bonus points, I'd like to know how to make it "safe", i.e. don't overwrite existing registrations for the file type and remove the registration on uninstall only if it has been registered during installation and is unchanged.

However, I'd like to first know how long I have left on the trial. Is there a way to do this programmatically with SQL? I looked at create_date in sys.databases, but these give dates that are in 2003 (which is, I guess, when master and model were originally created).

• Windows repair console, imposible?

  Hi guys, I found an old Windows XP SP2 in my -trash- cd can and tryed it on a 30 gb FAT32 partition. Installation went fine till the copying operation was completed and XP asked for reboot. After that either it starts over again or throws invalid disk. Starting over is an infinite loop the only way I see is to choose the "Repair console" but i'm not used to a dos box. I've installed the appropriate Documentation Sets in Xcode Preferences-Documentation, and I have an iPhone SDK, which is required to refer to iPhone DocSets. I'm using the Xcode version 3.2.2.
