• Pinning based on origin of a reprepro repository.

  I'm on Ubuntu 10.04, and trying to set up a repository using reprepro. I'd also like the pin everything in that repository to be preferred over anything else, even if packages are older versions. (It will only contain a select set of packages.) However, I cannot seem to get the pinning to work, and believe it has something to do with the repository side of things, rather than the apt configuration on the client. I've taken the following steps to set up my repository Installed a web server (my personal choice here is Cherokee), Created the directory /var/www/apt/, Created the file conf/distributions, like so: Origin: Shteef Label: Shteef Suite: lucid Version: 10.04 Codename: lucid Architectures: i386 amd64 source Components: main Description: My personal repository Ran reprepro export from the /var/www/apt/ directory. At this point I can see the new package in aptitude, but it naturally prefers the newer Asterisk 1.6 currently in the Ubuntu 10.04 repositories. To try and fix that, I have created /etc/apt/preferences.d/personal like so: Package: * Pin: release o=Shteef Pin-Priority: 1000 But when I try to install the asterisk package, it will still prefer the 1.6 version over my own 1.4 version. But I can't find any noticable difference between my repository's Release files and Ubuntu's that would cause this. Is there a step I've missed or mistake I've made in setting up my repository?

• 2 windows loaders after grub2 repair

  I have recently reinstalled w7 and had ubuntu 12.04 lts installed on it,w7 installation deleted the grub2 loader,after that i found solution to use boot-repair from live-cd session, BUT......now i have 2 windows 7(loader)in grub loader,and only 1 windows 7 installation,how can i remove it?One is on on /dev/sda1(which should be w7 sistem reserved partition) and second is on on /dev/sda2(which is w7 installment partition) it says and both log on same w7.All i need is to remove it without brake the grub2 again and if someone is willing to guide me to add windows on primary selection, cause my girlfriends doesnt get along with linux :D.

• Nvidia drivers don't work with mainline kernel

  I want to try some of the new features in the btrfs filesystem, and to do that I need to use a newer kernel than is included in Ubuntu 12.04. To do that, I have installed linux-headers-3.4.0-030400_3.4.0-030400.201205210521_all.deb, linux-headers-3.4.0-030400-generic_3.4.0-030400.201205210521_amd64.deb, and linux-image-3.4.0-030400-generic_3.4.0-030400.201205210521_amd64.deb from the mainline kernel download here. However, on rebooting into the 3.4 kernel, my desktop is stuck at a very low resolution and I cannot increase it to the full. This did happen when I first installed, but a simple install of the nvidia-current package got everything working nicely with my GTX570 card. I have also installed some ICC colour profiles from the 'icc-profiles' package.   Hello, I'm trying to install Ubuntu 10.10 32bit on this pc. I have both tried with Wubi from Windows and from USB stick, but after the installation process when I select to boot Ubuntu the screen becomes black and nothing happens (btw I can hear the cpu running)! Notice that maybe it is something related to the graphic card of the pc, since when I use Ubuntu in live mode or during the installation process all the graphics and colors are messed up as if there wasn't an appropriate diriver... I've no interest in doing that for the minute - I'd like it to build for Precise. What do I need to do to get this done? Edit: I went into the package page in Launchpad and managed to copy the package I uploaded for another release, but is there a way of setting the default release(s) for a PPA?

  I'm trying to have ZF2 installed for all my subdomains at once (Ubuntu 12.04). ZF2 just launched its first stable version, so I wanted to install it on my development server and finally get my hands dirty with it. I downloaded ZF2 and unzipped the files in /var/ZF2/ (which now contains Zend/[all components]). I then edited /etc/php5/apache2/php.ini and added the path to the ZF2 files: include_path = ".:/var/ZF2" I then downloaded the ZendSkeletonApplication and unzipped it in /var/www/skeleton. I know it is suggested to composer.phar to install ZF2 application, but: I don't want to make a local installation of ZF2... I want to make a server-wide installation be able to use my Zend components on all my domains/subdomains on my development server. Before using any automatic installation process, I'd really like to understand that process by doing it manually at first. Obviously, something goes wrong when I fire ZendSkeletonApplication, and I get the following when hit the following URL: http://www.myDevServer.com/skeleton/public/ Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'RuntimeException' with message 'Unable to load ZF2. Just setting up ZF2_PATH in httpd.conf was all that was needed. SetEnv ZF2_PATH /var/ZF2 I also removed the include_path reference in php.ini and everything works just fine. So I have no idea why Zend suggested to include it there in their official docs.
