  • HTML element not accessible with jQuery

    - by Kris-I
    Hello, I have a via with some jQuery function to get value from HTML element (to access element available and element not yet available). On of these element is a dropdown, when I select a value an another vue is added in the bottom of the page in a div. When I try to access an element added by this view, I received "undefined". What can I do ? In the div #ProductDetail, I add element. and it's these elements I can't access. $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "/Product/Edition", data: { id: getId() }, success: function(data) { $("#divDisplayDialogProduct").html(data); $('#ProductType').change(function() { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "/Product/ShowDetail", data: { id: $('#ProductType').val() }, success: function(data) { $("#ProductDetail").html(data); }, error: function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown) { } }) }); }, error: function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown) { } })

  • jQuery: Simple menu

    - by JamesBrownIsDead
    I'm trying to learn jQuery by implementing a simple menu. I've got <div> elements that act as buttons and have links in them. I'm trying to add onclick events to the divs that navigate the browser to the link's address in the div. This is basically my pseudo-code. What would the real code be? How can I improve this? Any feedback appreciated! // Iterate over each menu button $('.masterHeaderMenuButton').each(function () { // Get the link in each button and set the button's onclick to // redirect to the link's address var url = $('a', this).attr('href'); this.click(function () { window.location.href = url; }); // If the user is on the page for the current button, hilight it if (window.location.href === url) { $('a', this).addClass("masterHeaderMenuButtonSelected"); } });

  • Change value of jquery variable based on a select box

    - by Nikos
    I have a jquery datepicker script and what I want to do is to change "minDate: 10" value by a select box. $(function() { $('#hotel').change(function() { // assign the value to a variable, so you can test to see if it is working var selectVal = $('#hotel :selected').val(); if( selectVal == "hotel_c" ) { var date = 10; } if( selectVal == "hotel_a" ) { var date = 15; } if( selectVal == "hotel_b" ) { var date = 6; } }); var dates = $('#from, #to').datepicker({ defaultDate: "+1w", changeMonth: true, dateFormat: 'yy-m-d', minDate: 10, numberOfMonths: 3, onSelect: function(selectedDate) { var option = this.id == "from" ? "minDate" : "maxDate"; var instance = $(this).data("datepicker"); var date = $.datepicker.parseDate(instance.settings.dateFormat || $.datepicker._defaults.dateFormat, selectedDate, instance.settings); dates.not(this).datepicker("option", option, date); } }); });

  • jQuery .ajax method in IE7 & IE6 not working but working fine in Firefox

    - by RyanP13
    This relates to my previous post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2318696/jquery-load-method-causing-page-refresh-ajax I changed my implmentation to use the .ajax method instead of .load and it works fine in Firefox but not in IE7 or IE6: $('ul#coverTabs > li > a').live('click', function(event) { // Find href of current tab var $tabValue = $(this).attr('href'); $.ajax({ type: "GET", cache: false, dataType: "html", url: $(this).attr('href'), success: function(data){ $(data).find('.benefitWrap').each(function(){ var $benefitWrap = $(this).html(); $('.benefitWrap').replaceWith($('<div class="benefitWrap">' + $benefitWrap + '</div>')); }); } }); event.preventDefault(); }); This is killing me as it has taken ages to get this far. Any ideas where i am going wrong?

  • jQuery ::: Does remove really remove?

    - by phpN00b
    I'm trying to remove a table row using jQuery, and while it disappears from the screen, and therefore, appears to work, in Firebug, I can still see the code for it. There are form elements in this row, and so, I want to understand whether the row is truly being deleted or not, because I wouldn't want those values submitted. So, does remove really remove? Below is the code I'm using... Maybe I'm doing it wrong? if($('.delete')) { $(".delete").live('click', function(event) { $(this).closest('tr').remove(); }); }

    - by Tim
    Hey all I have this code where I am using jQuery to navigate to the next page, because I want some effects to take place before that happens. Does anyone have any ideas? Many thanks in advance? Tim

  • Why does Chrome ignore local jQuery cookies?

    - by Nathan Long
    I am using the jQuery Cookie plugin (download and demo and source code with comments) to set and read a cookie. I'm developing the page on my local machine. The following code will successfully set a cookie in FireFox 3, IE 7, and Safari (PC). But if the browser is Google Chrome AND the page is a local file, it does not work. $.cookie("nameofcookie", cookievalue, {path: "/", expires: 30}); What I know: The plugin's demo works with Chrome. If I put my code on a web server (address starting with http://), it works with Chrome. So the cookie fails only for Google Chrome on local files. Possible causes: Google Chrome doesn't accept cookies from web pages on the hard drive (paths like file:///C:/websites/foo.html) Something in the plugin implentation causes Chrome to reject such cookies Can anyone confirm this and identify the root cause?

  • success, error events aren't working for ajax

    - by Rigo Vides
    Hi everyone, I have the following code: $(document).ready(function(){ $.ajax({ url: "svc/GetTweetsByUser.php", type: "POST", success: function(data) { alert('success'); }, failure: function(){ alert('fail'); }, data: ({twitter_user : 'AdoboHobo'}), dataType: "xml" } );//endof ajax }); I'm kind of starting with web and ajax stuff... this worked perfectly by yesterday. I don't know what is happening now that neither success nor failure events are triggering. I'm shure that the request and response are perfectly working, I checked that with firebug. Does anyone have any ideas for this? Thanks in advance.

  • Implementing fallback from Google AJAX Libraries API to local jQuery

    - by Maxim Z.
    After looking up the advantages and disadvantages of using Google's AJAX Libraries API instead of using jQuery locally, I saw that someone wrote in an answer (here on Stack Overflow, of course) that it's possible to get around the downtime that Google's API sometimes experiences by somehow falling back to a local copy of the library you use. I want to use Google's AJAX Libraries API on my site, but I'm concerned about this possible downtime and I'm curious how such a fallback procedure can be implemented. Has anybody ever tried doing this? Can you point me towards some code that accomplishes such a feat? Thanks in advance.

  • JQuery Passing Variable From href to load()

    - by dvancouver
    I am trying to pass an href id to load() in JQuery, I can see from the alert the returned id# 960, so I know the id value is getting past I just don't know how to append the load url, well the $("#refreshme_"+add_id) is the important part, I use that to refresh the unique div id in the page assigned by the database pull, so it would be looking for id="refreshme_960". My simple example that is obviously not working. I want to refresh the db select part of the page showing the new list of cars. Any ideas? $(document).ready(function() { $(".add_to_favorites").livequery("click", function(event) { var add_id = this.id.replace("add_", ""); //taken from a.href tag alert (id); $.get(this.href, function(data) { $("#refreshme_"+add_id).load("http://www.example.com/car_list/"+add_id); <a class="add_to_cars" href="/car-add/960/add'}" id="add_960">Add Car</a>

  • PHP and ajax no update taking place

    - by sea_1987
    Hi There, I have an an ajax request that looks like this, $('input.fakecheck').click(function(){ alert("deleteing...."); $.ajax({ url:"/search", type:"POST", data: $(this).attr('name')+"="+$(this).attr('value')+"&remove=Remove", success:function() { alert(data); } }) }) This calls a php function which looks like this, private function _remove_from_short_list($cv_array) { if (is_array($cv_array)) { $short_list = $this->session->userdata('short_list'); $new_list = array_diff_key($short_list, $cv_array); $this->session->set_userdata('short_list', $new_list); } } Essentiallty what happens is that on my page I have a list which is essentially a list of id's taken out of the session, the user can then by click and input(this will change) delete the id from their session. However once the deletion has taken place I want to be able to refresh the list to show that it has taken place, currently nothing happens, until I manually refresh.

  • Jquery - Get all other menus to slide up

    - by Jova
    I have a drop down menu made with Jquery. Right now, if you hover over all the menu items, their submenus will all show at the same time. I would like that if I hover over one menu, then go to the next, that the previous menu's submenu will slide back up. As it is now, I have to hover out of the submenus for them to slide up. To put it simpler, when hovering over a parent menu, slide up all other parent menu's submenus if they're open. $("#DropDownMenu li.parent").hover(function() { $(this).find(".subMenu").slideDown('fast').show(); $(this).parent().find(".subMenu").hover(function() { }, function() { $(this).parent().find(".subMenu").slideUp('slow'); }); });

  • Create/Edit/Save data in a jQuery pop-up for ASP.NET-MVC and Linq2Sql

    - by RememberME
    I have a MVC page which allows creation and editing of a subcontract. When the user has to select a company for the subcontract, I would like for them to have the option to create a new company. I've made a jQuery pop-up with the company fields, but I don't know how to then save this information to the company table. I would also like to be able to use the same pop-up to allow the user to edit the information for an existing company, but need direction in how to send the information to the pop-up.

  • jquery slider breaks on page refrsh

    - by Nik
    I have a jquery content slider on a site I'm developing. I am having a strange problem that seems to be across all browsers and that is the slider slides the wrong distance if the page is refreshed via the refresh button. To re-create the problem please follow these steps - click this link http://www.aus-media.com/dev/site_BYS/index.html then click on the 'About Bikram Yoga' menu item at the bottom. Click on the 'more' and 'back' tabs on this page and you will notice it works fine. Then refresh the page by clicking the refresh button and try the more and back buttons again. I'm a bit of a javascript newby so I'm lost to why it's doing this. Any help would be great. Thanks Nik

  • Get the parent id..

    - by tixrus
    I have a bunch of elements like the following: <div class="droppableP" id="s-NSW" style="width:78px; height:63px; position: absolute; top: 223px; left: 532px;"> </div> They all have class droppableP but different id's obviously and I would like to factor the code in this script I am hacking on. The original script just has a specific selector for each of one of these divs, but the code is all alike except for the id it does things to, which is either the id of the parent or another div with a name that's related to it. Here is the original code specifically for this div: $("#s-NSW > .sensible").droppable( { accept : "#i-NSW", tolerance : 'intersect', activeClass : 'droppable-active', hoverClass : 'droppable-hover', drop : function() { $('#s-NSW').addClass('s-NSW'); $('#s-NSW').addClass('encastrada'); //can't move any more.. $('#i-NSW').remove(); $('#s-NSW').animate( { opacity: 0.25 },200, 'linear'); checkWin(); } }); Here is how I would like to factor so the same code can do all of them and I will eventually do chaining as well and maybe get rid of the inline styles but here is my first go: $(".droppableP > .sensible").droppable( { accept : "#i" + $(this).parent().attr('id').substring(2), tolerance : 'intersect', activeClass : 'droppable-active', hoverClass : 'droppable-hover', drop : function() { $(this).parent().addClass($(this).parent().attr('id')); $(this).parent().addClass('encastrada'); $("#i" + ($this).parent().attr('id').substring(2)).remove(); $(this).parent().animate( { opacity: 0.25 },200, 'linear'); checkWin(); } }); The error I get is $(this).parent().attr("id") is undefined Many thanks. I have browsed related questions the one I understand that's closest to mine, turns out they didn't need parent function at all. I'm kind of a noob so please don't yell at me too hard if this is a stupid question.

  • jquery issue, disable on mouseenter queue

    - by jason
    When you mouseenter .li_group class it does a slide down effect on 1 single <li> tag, everything goes smoothly, but during the delay if you take your mouse off and on .li_group it "queues" the effect and slides the li down, delay, slides it down again etc etc... I have tried every way i can think of, even stop(); but it still does it... the reason i use mouseenter instead of hover, is because it works better for ul / li list $(".li_group").live('mouseenter',function(){ var id = "#ec1"; $(id).slideDown(); }).live('mouseleave',function(){ if (jQuery.support.cssFloat==true || getInternetExplorerVersion() > 7) { //ie < 8 endless up/down on close var id = "#ec1"; $(id).delay(5000).slideUp('fast'); } });

  • JQuery Autocomplete only suggesting first row

    - by Chris McCall
    I'm doing research using JQuery's Autocomplete plugin and Google Maps' API. What I have so far is located here. I'm using Asp.net MVC to generate the list of potential address matches (limited to US addresses only) and presenting them as a pipe-delimeted list to Autocomplete, which is supposed to be .spliting them up and suggesting them to the user. The problem I'm having (besides a stubborn IE-only javascript error, which I'll break into another question), is that only the first result is suggested. This page clearly shows two results, yet typing "3118" into the textbox produces only the Galax Dr result. How can I get Automplete to produce both results?

  • getting date from JQueryUI Datepicker

    - by Shree
    I am using JQueryUI datepicker. I am currently using following: $('#dtpicker').datepicker('getDate'); to get date from the datepicker. This function by default gets me today's date if the user has not selected any date in the picker. Is there some function which gets the date the user has selected? For example, if the user has selected today's date, the function should return today's date. If he didnt select any date, then this function should return false, perhaps. I want this function for validation of date ranges in JQueryUI daterangepicker which currently it is not supporting.

  • jScrollPane jEditable DOM problems

    - by Kyle Lafkoff
    Hello world, I am having a funky problem. See (this link won't disappear): www.skitzo.org/~el/bugjeditable.png for the firebug output screenshot. Here's my code. I run getJSON() to fetch the info from the PHP which pulls from DB and I fill a div with the result. I have jScrollPane and jEditable so a user can scroll down and click to edit any of the content. It works sometimes and then it doesn't work which makes me wonder if the browser is not interpreting the code properly or if I am misunderstanding fundamental DOM concepts here.... Here is a live current version of the code: http://www.musedates.com/testing.php $().ready(function() { $('#pane1').jScrollPane(); $('#tab_journal').tabs(); $('#tab2').load("/journal_new.php"); var i=0; var row = ''; var k, v, dt; $.getJSON("/ajax.php?j=22", function(data) { row = '<p>'; while(i<data.length) { $.each(data[i], function(k, v) { if (k == 'subject') { row += '<div style="font-size:1.5em; color:#000000;"><div class="editable" style="width:705px;" id="title-'+data[i].id+'">'+v+'</div></div>posted: '+dt+'<br />'; } else if (k == 'dt') { dt = v; } else if (k == 'msg') { row += '<div class="editableMsg" style="width:705px; height:40px;" id="msg-'+data[i].id+'">'+v+'</div></p>'; } }); i++; } $('#pane1').append(row).jScrollPane({scrollbarWidth:10, scrollbarMargin:10, showArrows:true}); }); $('.editable').livequery(function () { $('.editable').editable("/savejournal.php", { submitdata : function() { }, tooltip : 'Click to edit', indicator : '<img src="/UI/images/indicator.gif">', cancel : 'Cancel', submit : 'OK' }); $('.editableMsg').editable("/savejournal.php", { submitdata : function() { }, tooltip: 'Click to edit', indicator : '<img src="/UI/images/indicator.gif">', cancel : 'Cancel', submit : 'OK', type : 'textarea' }); $(".editable,.editableMsg").mouseover(function() { $(this).css('background-color', '#FDD017'); }); $(".editable,.editableMsg").mouseout(function() { $(this).css('background-color', '#fff'); }); }); }); And then the HTML: <div id="tab_container" style="margin:0px 0px 2px 8px;"> <ul id="tab_journal"> <li><a href="#tab1"><span>View / Edit</span></a></li> <li><a href="#tab2"><span>New Entry</span></a></li> </ul> </div> <div id="tab1" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 8px;"> <div id="pane1" class="scroll-pane super-wide"></div> </div> <div id="tab2" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 8px; width:700px;"></div> Thanks world.

  • jQuery to PHP: no input... kinda

    - by Seva Alekseyev
    Hi all, I'm using jQuery to post HTTP requests to my PHP page (Apache/Linux, if that matters). I carefully validate on the client so that empty requests are not sent. However on occasions, I'd get an empty request like this: - $_POST collection empty ($_GET collection also empty); - Content-Length is nonzero (a number below 100, consistent with a valid POST from my script) - Content-Type properly application/x-www-form-urlencoded - reading from php://input yields an empty string It's as if $_POST is somehow eaten on the way. I checked the code very carefully - I don't do anything to the contents of $_POST. Any ideas, please?
