  • Relational Database arrays (H2, Java)

    - by Daddy Warbox
I seem to have two options on how to implement arrays, and I want to know which I should go with: Use the ARRAY data type and (from what I understand) effectively serialize data objects into the database (which in my case are just wrapped primitive types; don't know of another way to make this work). Use a separate table and map with foreign keys for each array item. If you have experience with this (especially with H2), which would you recommend?

  • Clojure: I have many sorted maps and want to reduce in order all there values a super maps of keys -> vector

    - by Alex Foreman
I have seen this but can't work out how to apply it (no pun intended) to my situation. I have a sorted list of maps like this: (note there can be more than two keys in the map) ({name1 3, name2 7}, {name1 35, name2 7}, {name1 0, name2 3}) What I am after is this data structure afterwards: ({:name1 [3,35,0]}, {:name2 [7,7,3]}) Ive been struggling with this for a while and cant seem to get anywhere near. Caveats: The data must stay sorted and I have N keywords not just two.

  • Combine multiple network interfaces to connect to a dedicated server

    - by Dženis Macanovic
this is an underpaid employee writing, who's apparently responsible for all the IT stuff in a very small (non-IT) company. Today said company got a bunch of PCs/workstations, a switch, a computer that's supposed to be used as a router, two DSL connections (each 16 MBit/s downstream and 1 MBit/s upstream) and a dedicated server which is hosted and managed professionally by a larger local company with some decent connection speed (1 GBit/s both directions if I'm not mistaken). This is what I've set up (note I'm not making use of the second DSL connection at all)... ETH0 ETH1 [ SWITCH ]---[LINUX DEBIAN ROUTER]---[DSL MODEM 1]---[INTERNET] | | | PC1 | | PC2 | ... ... when my boss asked me, if it was somehow possible to get 32 MBit/s downstream and 2 MBit/s upstream. At that time I replied "no" without thinking too much about it. Now I've just had the following idea... ETH1 ETH0 ETH0 ,---[DSL MODEM 1 (NON-STATIC IP)]---, ,---, ETH0 [ SWITCH ]---[LINUX DEBIAN ROUTER] [INTERNET] [LINUX DEBIAN SERVER]---[INTERNET] | | | '---[ DSL MODEM 2 (STATIC IP) ]---' '---' PC1 | | ETH2 ETH0 PC2 | ... ... but I have absolutely no clue how to implement that. Would that even be possible? What would the masquerading rules look like on the router? What about the server? I didn't find anything on the internet, mainly because I couldn't come up with any good keywords to search for to begin with. English obviously isn't my first language. Thanks in advance for your time!

  • Android & Google Maps - close info window with back button

    - by m4ch3t3
I have an activity that holds a fragment with Google Map view in it. App adds several dozens of markers to the MapView, using MarkerManager and ClusterRenderer to form clusters. The problem is that when I have marker's InfoWindow opened and I press hardware Back button, it closes the app. Instead of that, I would like to have the InfoWindow closed. Is there any straightforward way to achieve this?

  • Help using recursion in Java

    - by Mercer
I have a class Group. In the class I have two fields, idGroup IdGroupGroup. Groups may be part of other groups. My class Group is defined in a HashMap<Integer,Integer>; the key is IdGroupGroup and value is idGroup. I want to search the map for a particular idGroup; can I use recursion to do this?

  • What's the purpose of the rotate instructions (ROL, RCL on x86) ?

    - by lgratian
I always wondered what's the purpose of the rotate instructions some CPUs have (ROL, RCL on x86, for example). What kind of software makes use of these instructions? I first thought they may be used for encryption/computing hash codes, but these libraries are written usually in C, which doesn't have operators that map to these instructions. Has anybody found an use for them? Why where they added to the instructions set?

  • Using Entity Framework V4 - Mapping Stored Procedures with XML output

    - by ericwahner
I have been attempting to implement the Entity framework into my project and unfortunately it seems like mapping an XML result set from SQL is not something that is supported. I also have issues with returning multiple result sets, though I understand that the EFExtensions was created to try to mitigate that issue. Is there a way to take a FOR XML EXPLICIT result from a SQL Stored Procedure and map it using the Entity Framework?

  • vmware server 64 bit on ubuntu 9.10 64 bit with P2V windows 2003 SBS poor network speed

    - by RobertHC
configuration is ubuntu 2.6.31-21 64 bit vmware 2.0.2 64 bit last release hardware is core 2 quad with 8GB ram guest is win 2003 server SBS 32 bit Dear friends, we have a converted physical to virtual windows sbs 2003, converted with last converter available nowadays http://www.vmware.com/products/converter/ vCenter converter. Running the P2V 2K3 SBS on vmware server, it does boot fine, but we do note an abnormal CPU activity and a poor lan speed. As attempts we did what follow. We removed all unneeded peripherals, we removed one NIC (phisycal server was 2 nics), we changed the vmx to ged the nic recognized as intel instead than amd, we removed 1 cpu (physical was 2 cpu), we removed anything was reported as failed driver from system events monitor. Nothing to do, no way and funny results. Let's read some tests results. All are made with the same file copied in different source folders. Copying from client side (both directions copy, to/from server) results are i.e. 10 seconds, copying the same files from server side (again from and to server) results are different... from client to server, speed is round about (bit more) 10 seconds, but from server to client direction is slower: double the time. Beeing very fast and launching a simultaneous copy "from server to client"+"from client to server", this made from the server side, results in a stuck traffic... 45 seconds to do the copy. vmware tools are installed and e1000 driver has been updated. With one processor CPU activity is still going up and down but much less than with two. Because of test, we installed win 2k8 STD 64 bit. We repeated all the above tests with exactly the same file result is just one: always 5 seconds (this matches the lan speed) Any idea about this issue is welcome and thank you if any. Kind regards R.

  • How to implement table-per-concrete-type using entity framework

    - by SDReyes
Hello Guys! I'm mapping a set of tables that share a common set of fields: So as you can see I'm using a table-per-concrete-type strategy to map the inheritance. But... I have not could to relate them to an abstract type containing these common properties. It's possible to do it using EF? BONUS: The only non documented Entity Data Model Mapping Scenario is Table-per-concrete-type inheritance http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc716779.aspx : P

  • RESTful API: How to model 'request new password'?

    - by Jan P.
I am designing a RESTful API for a booking application and was quite happy to see I could map all details of the application to the 4 HTTP methods. /users - GET, POST /users/({id}|myself) - GET, POST, PUT, DELETE /users/({id}|myself)/bookings - GET, POST /users/({id}|myself)/bookings/{id} - GET, POST, PUT, DELETE Example: Updating my own user uses a PUT to /users/myself. But now I found out that one thing is missing: The possibility to request a new password if I forgot my old one. Any idea how I could add this?

  • scope equivalent in rails 2.3.x?

    - by Jacob Relkin
Is there a way to generate a group of routes under an admin scope without having to create a new physical directory (like namespace requires you to). I know that in Rails 3 there is a scope method on the route mapper, and this appears to do what I want, but apparently it doesn't exist in Rails 2.3.x My goal is to have a route like this: "/admin/products" map to "app/controllers/products_controller, not "app/controllers/admin/products_controller". Is there any way to accomplish this in Rails 2.3.x?

  • Is Perforce's C++ P4API thread-safe?

    - by Scott Bilas
Simple question - is the C++ API provided by Perforce thread-safe? There is no mention of it in the documentation. By "thread-safe" I mean for server requests from the client. Obviously there will be issues if I have multiple threads trying to set client names and such on the same connection. But given a single connection object, can I have multiple threads fetching changelists, getting status, translating files through a p4 map, etc.?

  • Rails Routes :requirements

    - by Chris Kilmer
I want to set a route :requirements on an array that verifies a particular parameter is included in an array: atypes = [:culture, :personality, :communication] map.with_options(:path_prefix = ':atype', :requirements = {:atype = atypes.include?(:atype)}) do |assessment| ... end I haven't been able to find any documentation on how to accomplish this. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Best way to score and sum in Scala?

    - by adam77
Is there a better way of doing this: val totalScore = set.foldLeft(0)( _ + score(_) ) or this: val totalScore = set.map(score(_)).sum I think it's quite a common operation so was expecting something sleeker like: val totalScore = set.sum( score(_) )

Is there a way in Zend Framework or default PHP to map a country (using country code) to a list of timezones? As an example I'm trying to replicate the Google functionality when searching for "time in australia right now" which displays all of the timezones and cities for that country.

  • How do i create multiple URLs with /controller/action/ format?

    - by Angela
I have several controller/actions where no :id needs to be passed. what I did with the first two was make a custom route defining the controller and action. I thought that the default would allow me to create controller/action.xml by using respond_to in the controller, but that doesn't appear to be the right way. How can I create controller/action URL's (some are .xml) without creating a special route with map.connect?

  • How does browser search tool work on web page?

    - by GTM
I am trying to figure out how the search tool in a web browser is being able to parse through the entire web page(assuming huge content on a page) and highlight the result as we type. Does it pre-cache the page while loading in a map or use regex to get a quick result on the fly?
