Sample process: Develop it: Patch bugs, add features, etc. Feature Freeze (do not fix, add anything unless it's absolutely required) Test it If everything is OK release it, if it's not fix it, test it, release it I think the most crucial question is what's your approach to "feature freeze test release" cycle? Or do you test it more frequently that you don't need such a cycle and your software is always ready for public release?

  • Feeding PDF through IInternetSession to WebBrowser control - Error

    As related to my previous question, I have developed a temporary asynchronous pluggable protocol with the specific aim to be able to serve PDF documents directly to a WebBrowser control via a database. I need to do this because my limitations include not being able to access the disk other than IsolatedStorage; and a MemoryStream would be far better for serving up PDF documents that average around 31kb. Unfortunately the code doesn't work, and I'm getting an error from the WebBrowser control (i.e. IE): Unable to download . Unable to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later. This prevents it from failing now and shows the PDF in the Adobe Reader control, but means it defeats the purpose of this by having Adobe Reader simply load from the cache file (which I can't provide).     I am using VS2008 C# and testing on my local XP Pro PC with local IIS, I have wrote a web service to call a third party software .exe file to use svn checkout commands to insert data into a folder, which use System.Diagnostics.Process.Start . The same codes did work when I use VS2008 build-in ASP.NET Development Server(http://localhost:2999/MyServices/MyServices.asmx). but when I use IIS normal URL(http://developer/MyServices/MyServices.asmx) to run Process.Start on the web service, it just haunlted and not doing anything.plz send one sample program.

  • parallel computation for an Iterator of elements in Java

    I've had the same need a few times now and wanted to get other thoughts on the right way to structure a solution. The need is to perform some operation on many elements on many threads without needing to have all elements in memory at once, just the ones under computation. As in, Iterables.partition is insufficient because it brings all elements into memory up front. Expressing it in code, I want to write a BulkCalc2 that does the same thing as BulkCalc1, just in parallel. Below is sample code that illustrates my best attempt. I'm not satisfied because it's big and ugly, but it does seem to accomplish my goals of keeping threads highly utilized until the work is done, propagating any exceptions during computation, and not having more than numThreads instances of BigThing necessarily in memory at once.   • what's wrong with my producer-consumer queue design?

    I'm starting with the C# code example here. I'm trying to adapt it for a couple reasons: 1) in my scenario, all tasks will be put in the queue up-front before consumers will start, and 2) I wanted to abstract the worker into a separate class instead of having raw Thread members within the WorkerQueue class. My queue doesn't seem to dispose of itself though, it just hangs, and when I break in Visual Studio it's stuck on the _th.Join() line for WorkerThread #1. Also, is there a better way to organize this? Something about exposing the WaitOne() and Join() methods seems wrong, but I couldn't think of an appropriate way to let the WorkerThread interact with the queue. Also, an aside - if I call q.Start(#) at the top of the using block, only some of the threads every kick in (e.g. threads 1, 2, and 8 process every task). Why is this?     I'm somewhat new to grails (not groovy though) and I'm working on a sample CRUD application. The issue I'm trying to solve is how to set a property on a bean based on a radio button before I update it in the database. Is the Form Helper http://www.grails.org/plugin/form-helper plugin the way to go? Will the bean have its value set regardless of if the button is actually clicked by the user or if it is left at its default value? thanks, Jeff
