  • Perl: Greedy nature refuses to work

    I am trying to replace a string with another string, but the greedy nature doesn't seem to be working for me. Below is my code where "PERFORM GET-APLCY" is identified and replaced properly, but string "PERFORM GET-APLCY-SOI-CVG-WVR" and many other such strings are being replaced by the the replacement string for "PERFORM GET-APLCY". s/PERFORM $func[$i]\.?/# PERFORM $func[$i]\.\n $hash{$func[$i]}/g; where the full stop is optional during string match and replacement. Please help me understand what the issue could be. Thanks in advance, Faez

  • How much benefit do you get from working with other developers?

    For whatever reason I've only ever worked solo. The job that I have now, I was under the impression that I was being hired to work underneath a senior developer and that I'd be able to learn from them/their code. This was actually one of the conditions that I had when I accepted the position (that and I was broke and needed the cash - so I would have likely taken it anyway). As it turns out, the intention of management was for me to replace that senior developer because they were contracted and relatively expensive. The question I have is, though I've learned a lot in the 2 short years I've been here, am I potentially seriously stunting my learning/progress working solo instead of working at a company with other developers?

  • Simple PHP query question: LIKE

    When I replace $ordering = "apples, bananas, cranberries, grapes"; with $ordering = "apples, bananas, grapes"; I no longer want cranberries to be returned by my query, which I've written out like this: $query = "SELECT * from dbname where FruitName LIKE '$ordering'"; Of Course this doesn't work, because I used LIKE wrong. I've read through various manuals that describe how to use LIKE and it doesn't quite make sense to me. If I change the end of the db to "LIKE "apples"" that works for limiting it to just apples. Do I have to explode the ordering on the ", " or is there a way to do this in the query?

    I would like to send a html string with a GET request like this with Apaches HttpClient: http://sample.com/?html=<html><head>... This doesnt work at the moment, i think its an encoding problem. Do you have any ideas how to do that? method.setQueryString(new NameValuePair[] {new NameValuePair("report", "<html>....")}); client.executeMethod(method) This fails with org.apache.commons.httpclient.NoHttpResponseException: The server localhost failed to respond. If i replace "<html>" by "test.." it works fine. EDIT It seams to be a problem of URL length after encoding, the server doesnt except such long URls. Sending it as POST solves the problem.

    This is really annoying...and I know it is something extremely simple... 1. I create a new Dynamic Data project. 2. I add a LINQ-to-SQL class and drag and drop some tables onto the class. 3. I open the global.asax.vb and uncomment the line: DefaultModel.RegisterContext(GetType(YourDataContext), New ContextConfiguration() With {.ScaffoldAllTables = True}) I remove YourDataContext and replace it with the DataContext from my LINQ-to-SQL class: DefaultModel.RegisterContext(GetType(NorthwindDataContext), New ContextConfiguration() With {.ScaffoldAllTables = True}) I then try to debug/build/etc. and receive the following error: Type 'NorthwindDataContext' is not defined Why is it not defined? It seems like its not recognizing I created the DBML file.

    Given an array 'a' I would like to sort the array by columns "a.sort(axis=0)" do some stuff to the array and then undo the sort. By that I don't mean re sort but basically reversing how each element was moved. I assume argsort() is what I need but it is not clear to me how to sort an array with the results of argsort() or more importantly apply the reverse/inverse of argsort() Here is a little more detail I have an array a, shape(a) = rXc I need to sort each column aargsort = a.argsort(axis=0) # May use this later aSort = a.sort(axis=0) now average each row aSortRM = asort.mean(axis=1) now replace each col in a row with the row mean. is there a better way than this aWithMeans = ones_like(a) for ind in range(r) # r = number of rows aWithMeans[ind]* aSortRM[ind] Now I need to undo the sort I did in the first step. ????

    sometimes I use a pattern which is very similar to the singleton pattern: There is one default instance which and a static get method to aces it. But you may create other instances and pass it as optional parameter and if you want to and you can even replace the default instance with a instance from a child class. So it is NO SINGLETON at all but it is used like one singleton in most cases. Anyone got an idea who to call something like this ? Maybe half*** singleton? domiton?

Some users are pasting text into this field from Word documents with some weird characters that I don't want to go in my DB. (e.g. webding font characters) I'm trying to get a regular expression that would give me only the alphanum and the punctuation characters. But when I try the following, the output is still all the characters.     i got an idea for making php template engine fast and user friendly but i'm not sure if it's good or bad. the idea is to create a fake template engine: creating a template editor in control panel that let user see something like this: <html> <head> <title>{title}</title> </head> <body> {content} </body> </html> what the editor actually does is to replace all php code like <?php echo $this->title; ?> to user friendly {title} but it's not really replacing it just in the view when the user save the template the template actually saved as fast pure php template. the question is this a good idea or bad ? your answers is highly appreciated.

    I have a trigger function that I only want to fire on certain instances of INSERTS, in this case, if do_backup = true. If it fires in all instances, I get an infinite loop. The logic seems pretty simple to me, and the rest of the function works. But the trigger function does not seem to register my conditional and always runs, even when backup = true.   • Is there any way to disable the "double-click to copy" functionality of a .NET label?

    This is really annoying. I'm using the label as part of a list item user control, where the user can click it to select the list item and double-click it to rename it. However, if you had a name in the clipboard, double-clicking the label will replace it with the text of the label! I've also check the other labels in the application, and they will also copy to the clipboard on a doubleclick. I have not written any clipboard code in this program, and I am using the standard .NET labels. Is there any way to disable this functionality?

  • No mapping for LONGVARCHAR in Hibernate 3.2

    I am running Hibernate 3.2.0 with MySQL 5.1. After updating the group_concat_max_len in MySQL (because of a group_concat query that was exceeding the default value), I got the following exception when executing a SQLQuery with a group_concat clause: "No Dialect mapping for JDBC type: -1" -1 is the java.sql.Types value for LONGVARCHAR. Evidently, increasing the group_concat_max_len value causes calls to group_concat to return a LONGVARCHAR value. This appears to be an instance of this bug: http://opensource.atlassian.com/projects/hibernate/browse/HHH-3892 I guess there is a fix for this issue in Hibernate 3.5, but that is still a development version, so I am hesitant to put it into production, and don't know if it would cause issues for other parts of my code base. I could also just use JDBC queries, but then I have to replace every instance of a SQLQuery with a group_concat clause. Any other suggestions?

    Hi, I've been messing with this for a few hours, and I just can't get the text to be replaced at all. I really can't believe it's taking so long, especially because I did this a few months ago and got it to work in minutes. I don't know what's wrong, since I've done everything I know to do. I'm jumping back into web design and using Firebug, and when I check the scripts it only has sifr.js and sifr-debug.js in the list, so I'm assuming the config isn't loading but I have no idea what could be the hold up...     Can someone points me the problem in the code when compiled with gcc 4.1.0. #define X 10 int main() { double a = 1e-X; return 0; } I am getting error:Exponent has no digits. When i replace X with 10, it works fine. Also i checked with g++ -E command to see the file with preprocessors applied, it has not replaced X with 10. I was under the impression that preprocessor replaces every macro defined in the file with the replacement text with applying any intelligence. Am I wrong? I know this is a really silly question but I am confused and I would rather be silly than confused :). Any comments/suggestions.

    Hi, I have some code where the model contains some classes like (vb.net pseudocode, but could be any OO language): Enum AttributeType Boolean Date String End Enum MustInherit Class Attibute Must Override Function Type As AttributeType End Class Class BooleanAttribute: Attribute Function Type As AttributeType Return AttributeType.Boolean End Function End Class And the view contains some code like: Select Case AttributeType Case Boolean //Display checkbox control Case Date //Display date picker control Case String //Display textbox control End Select I don't really like the code in the view, for the hopefully obvious reasons (what happens when I get a new attribute type etc). My question is, how should I replace it? I could easily add a method to the concrete classes, but that pollutes the model with UI stuff so that's a horrible idea. I could move the select into a factory, but that seems to be just hiding the problem. Can anybody advise a better approach?

Any leading whitespace at the beginning of the array should be removed completely. The resulting number of characters should be returned as the value of the function. And the annoying part: Another array cannot appear in the function Cannot use strings, only char arrays. Cannot using G++'s extension for setting an array size using a variable. Oh and can't use regex :) I'm stuck with this, any help would be great. :)

    I have been using NUnit and now I am switching to the Microsoft Unit Test frame work. In my test project I have a folder called TestData and I kept all my test input data files there. I want to use that files for my unit testing. In my test code, I am using Application name space and assembly name space but I can not get to the data folder directly until unless I write a code to find and replace some string to point to the data folder. I am sure someone might have run into the same problem, is the solution to change the path through program or is there a API call which will let us get to executing assembly folders? Thanks,
