  • Com server build using Python on 64-bit Windows 7 machine

It has worked fine on 32 bit Windows but not working on 64 bit Windows 7. Here are the Python modules I have created for testing: test_icon_overlay.py: ( http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-win32/attachments/20101229/bb8c78a4/attachment-0002.obj ) com server created in Python for icon overlay which adds check mark overlay icon(C:\icons\test.ico) on "C:\icons" folder setup_VI.py: ( http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-win32/attachments/20101229/bb8c78a4/attachment-0003.obj ) setup file which creates test_icon_overlay.dll for distribution. icons.zip: ( http://mail.python.org/pipermail/python-win32/attachments/20101229/bb8c78a4/attachment-0001.zip ) for testing you should extract icons.zip inside C:\ Icon overlay appears on C:\icons folder when I execute python test_icon_overlay.py on Windows command prompt and restarts explorer.exe. But its not working with the dll file created using setup_VI.py I have created dll file using python setup_VI.py py2exe and then tried to register it using regsvr32 test_icon_overlay.dll. Registration fails with windows error message Error 0x80040201 while registering shell extension. Then I turned on logger in Python27/Lib/site-packages/py2exe/boot_com_servers.py and here is the traceback which I am getting in comerror.txt on regsvr32 test_icon_overlay.dll PATH is ['C:\\root\\avalon\\module\\sync\\python\\src\\dist\\library.zip'] Traceback (most recent call last): File "boot_com_servers.py", line 37, in <module> pywintypes.error: (126, 'GetModuleFileName', 'The specified module could not be found.') Traceback (most recent call last): File "<string>", line 1, in <module> NameError: name 'DllRegisterServer' is not defined Looks like there might be a problem with win32api.GetModuleFileName(sys.frozendllhandle) or with the dll build on 64-bit Windows 7. Also, I saw that installation of pywin32-214.win-amd64-py2.7 on 64-bit Windows 7 finish with the error message: Snapshot close failed in file object destructor: sys.excepthook is missing lost sys.stderr Is there anything which I am doing wrong? Any help on this is highly appreciated.

  • Input boxes with transparent background are not clickable in IE8

    I have an absolutely positioned input box in a form. The input box has transparent background: .form-page input[type="text"] { border: none; background-color: transparent; /* Other stuff: font-weight, font-size */ } Surprisingly, I cannot select this input box by clicking on it in IE8. It works perfectly in Firefox however. The same happens for background: none. When I change the background color: background-color: red; It works fine, so this is issue associated with transparent background. Setting a border makes the input box selectable by clicking on its border only. Is there a workaround to have clickable input box with transparent background working in IE8? Update: Example. Uncomment background-color and the inputbox is selectable.   • Unit Testing using InternalsVisibleToAttribute requires compiling with /out:filename.ext?

    In my most recent question: Unit Testing Best Practice? / C# InternalsVisibleTo() attribute for VBNET 2.0 while testing?, I was asking about InternalsVisibleToAttribute. I have read the documentation on how to use it, and everything is fine and understood. However, I can't instantiate my class Groupe from my Testing project. I want to be able to instantiate my internal class in my wrapper assembly, from my testing assembly. Any help is appreciated!   • Is the load order for external javascript files different in IE8 compared to IE7?

    Hello, I ask because I'm running an application in which I load an external script file in the HEAD section of the page, and then attempt to call a function from it in the onLoad section of the BODY tag. external.js function someFunction() { alert("Some message"); } myPage.html <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="external.js"></script> </head> <body onLoad="someFunction();"> </body> </html> Using the developer tools in IE8, I get an exception thrown at the onLoad statement because, apparently, the external javascript file hasn't been loaded yet. I haven't had this problem come up in IE7 before, thus my question. Did they change the load order between IE7 and IE8? If so, is there a better way to do this? (the real function references many other functions and constants, which look much better in an external file) Thanks, B.J.

  • .NET EventHandlers - Generic or no?

    Every time I start in deep in a C# project, I end up with lots of events that really just need to pass a single item. I stick with the EventHandler/EventArgs practice, but what I like to do is have something like: public delegate void EventHandler<T>(object src, EventArgs<T> args); public class EventArgs<T>: EventArgs { private T item; public EventArgs(T item) { this.item = item; } public T Item { get { return item; } } } Later, I can have my public event EventHandler<Foo> FooChanged; public event EventHandler<Bar> BarChanged; However, it seems that the standard for .NET is to create a new delegate and EventArgs subclass for each type of event. Is there something wrong with my generic approach? EDIT: The reason for this post is that I just re-created this in a new project, and wanted to make sure it was ok. Actually, I was re-creating it as I posted. I found that there is a generic EventHandler<TEventArgs, so you don't need to create the generic delegate, but you still need the generic EventArgs<T class, because TEventArgs: EventArgs. Another EDIT: One downside (to me) of the built-in solution is the extra verbosity: public event EventHandler<EventArgs<Foo>> FooChanged; vs. public event EventHandler<Foo> FooChanged; It can be a pain for clients to register for your events though, because the System namespace is imported by default, so they have to manually seek out your namespace, even with a fancy tool like Resharper... Anyone have any ideas pertaining to that?

    Hello All, Has anyone experience this weird issue on safari? Textbox autofill is not at its correct position, please see screenshot below. I have been searching for answers in google for almost a day, still no luck. This is the built-in autofill feature of safari.     I am using hx:commandExButton of IBM Faces Client Framework to call my method. But the method is not getting called. But if I use immediate="true" it's getting called. But as you all know with this my model won't get updated, so it has no use to me. Has anyone faced this?   • android compile error: could not reserve enough space for object heap

    I'm getting this error during compilation: Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not create the Java virtual machine. Could not reserve enough space for object heap What's worse, the error occurs intermittently. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. It seems to be dependent on the amount of code in the application. If I get rid of some variables or drop some imported libraries, it will compile. Then when I add more to it, I get the error again. I've included the following sources into the application in the [project_root]/src/ directory: org.apache.httpclient (I've stripped all references to log4j from the sources, so don't need it) org.apache.codec (as a dependency) org.apache.httpcore (dependency of httpclient) and my own activity code consisting of nothing more than an instance of HttpClient. I know this has something to do with the amount of memory necessary during compile time or some compiler options, and I'm not really stressing my system while i'm coding. I've got 2GB of memory on this Core Duo laptop and windows reports only 860MB page file usage (haven't used any other memory tools. I should have plenty of memory and processing power for this... and I'm only compiling some common http libs... total of 406 source files. What gives? edit (4/30/2010-18:24): Just compiled some code where I got the above stated error. I closed some web browser windows and recompiled the same exact code with no edits and it compiled with no issue. this is definitely a compiler issue related to memory usage. Any help would be great.... because I have no idea where to go from here. Android API Level: 5 Android SDK rel 5 JDK version: 1.6.0_12 Sorry I had to repost this question because regardless of whether I use the native HttpClient class in the Android SDK or my custom version downloaded from apache, the error still occurs.

  • android compile error: could not reserve enough space for object heap

    I'm getting this error during compilation: Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not create the Java virtual machine. Could not reserve enough space for object heap What's worse, the error occurs intermittently. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. It seems to be dependent on the amount of code in the application. If I get rid of some variables or drop some imported libraries, it will compile. Then when I add more to it, I get the error again. I've included the following sources into the application in the [project_root]/src/ directory: org.apache.httpclient (I've stripped all references to log4j from the sources, so don't need it) org.apache.codec (as a dependency) org.apache.httpcore (dependency of httpclient) and my own activity code consisting of nothing more than an instance of HttpClient. I know this has something to do with the amount of memory necessary during compile time or some compiler options, and I'm not really stressing my system while i'm coding. I've got 2GB of memory on this Core Duo laptop and windows reports only 860MB page file usage (haven't used any other memory tools. I should have plenty of memory and processing power for this... and I'm only compiling some common http libs... total of 406 source files. What gives?     Hi, I wonder if anyone can help with a jQuery problem I am having. I am using the tooltips from the Jquery Tools library to create a popup window when mousing over an hrefed image, this I want to use to cusomise the call to change the content in the DIV. The links I am using are in the form: <a href="/venue/1313.htm" class="quickView"><img src="/images/site/quickView83.png" alt="Quick View" width="83" height="20" /></a> The code I am using to trigger the tip is: $(".quickView").live('mouseover', function() { if (!$(this).data('init')) { $(this).data('init', true); ajax_quickView(); $(this).tooltip ({ /* tooltip configuration goes here */ tip: "#quickViewWindow", position: "right", offset: [0, -300], effect: 'slide' }); $(this).trigger('mouseover'); } }); I have tried the following function to grab the ID (in the example above, 1313) from the link: function ajax_quickView(){ var pageNum = $("a.quickView").attr("href").match(/venue/([0-9]+)/).htm[1]; $("#quickViewWindow").load("/quick-view/", function(){}) } However I think this is where it falls down, I think my regex is prob to blame...   • jQuery hover DIV- stay active if they hover over the DIV itself

    I have a DIV that opens up when an image is hovered. When the user leaves the image, the div disappears after a timeout. How can I make it so that the DIV will stay active if the user was to hover over the DIV itself? So the DIV will stay active as long as the user is on the image or the DIV itself?   • Custom SSL handling stopped working on Android 2.2 FroYo

    For my app, Transdroid, I am connecting to remote servers via HTTP and optionally securely via HTTPS. For these HTTPS connections with the HttpClient I am using a custom SSL socket factory implementation to make sure self-signed certificates are working. Basically, I accept everything and ignore every checking of any certificate. This has been working fine for some time now, but it no longer work for Android 2.2 FroYo. When trying to connect, it will return an exception: java.io.IOException: SSL handshake failure: I/O error during system call, Broken pipe Here is how I initialize the HttpClient: SchemeRegistry registry = new SchemeRegistry(); registry.register(new Scheme("http", new PlainSocketFactory(), 80)); registry.register(new Scheme("https", (trustAll ? new FakeSocketFactory() : SSLSocketFactory.getSocketFactory()), 443)); client = new DefaultHttpClient(new ThreadSafeClientConnManager(httpParams, registry), httpParams); I make use of a FakeSocketFactory and FakeTrustManager, of which the source can be found here: http://code.google.com/p/transdroid/source/browse/#svn/trunk/src/org/transdroid/util Again, I don't understand why it suddenly stopped work, or even what the error 'Broken pipe' means. I have seen messages on Twitter that Seesmic and Twidroid fail with SSL enabled on FroYo as well, but am unsure if it's related. Thanks for any directions/help!

  • Inline image and caption in article - conform caption's width to image's width

    Here's my code: <div class="image"> <img src="image.jpg" alt="Image description" /> <p class="caption">This is the image caption</p> </div> Here's my CSS: .image { position: relative; float: right; margin: 8px 0 10px 10px; } .caption { font-weight: bold; color: #444666; } As is above, the caption will conform to the width of div.image. My problem is often the img varies in size, from 100px width to 250px width. I'd like to make the caption width conform to the corresponding width of the image, no matter the size. While I'd love for this to be more semantic as well, I'm not sure how easy it would be to switch p.caption with img. Of course, I'd prefer that method but am taking this a step at a time. Is there some jquery code that I can use to detect the width of the image and add that width as an inline style to the caption tag? Is there a better way to do this? I'm open to suggestions.

  • Git-svn refuses to create branch on svn repository error: "not in the same repository"

    I am attempting to create a svn branch using git-svn. The repository was created with --stdlayout. Unfortunately it generates an error stating the "Source and dest appear not to be in the same repository". The error appears to be the result of it not including the username in the source url. $ git svn branch foo-as-bar -m "Attempt to make Foo into Bar." Copying svn+ssh://my.foo.company/r/sandbox/foo/trunk at r1173 to svn+ssh://[email protected]/r/sandbox/foo/branches/foo-as-bar... Trying to use an unsupported feature: Source and dest appear not to be in the same repository (src: 'svn+ssh://my.foo.company/r/sandbox/foo/trunk'; dst: 'svn+ssh://[email protected]/r/sandbox/foo/branches/foo-as-bar') at /home/me/.install/git/libexec/git-core/git-svn line 610 I intially thought this was simply a configuration issue, examination of .git/config doesn't suggest anything incorrect.   • drupal_add_css not working

    Hiya, I need to use drupal_add_css to call stylesheets onto single D6 pages. I don't want to edit the main theme stylesheet as there will be a set of individual pages which all need completely new styles - the main sheet would be massive if i put it all in there. My solution was to edit the page in PHP editor mode and do this: <?php drupal_add_css("/styles/file1.css", "theme"); ?> <div id="newPageContent">stuff here in html</div> But when i view source, there is nothing there! Not even a broken css link or anything, it's just refusing to add the css sheet to the css package put into the page head. Variations don't seem to work either: drupal_add_css($path = '/styles/file1.css', $type = 'module', $media = 'all', $preprocess = TRUE) My template header looks like this, i've not changed anything from the default other than adding a custom JS. <head> <?php print $head ?> <title><?php print $head_title ?></title> <?php print $styles ?> <?php print $scripts ?> <script type="text/javascript" src="<?php print base_path() ?>misc/askme.js"></script> <!--[if lt IE 7]> <?php print phptemplate_get_ie_styles(); ?> <![endif]--> </head> Can anyone think of a reason why this function is not working? No policy files granted access. at flash.display::BitmapData/draw() I now, that I can to add it host to allowed on the custom client. But I need to have working system on any computer ) I've tried to hide it: templateGoogleMapRenderer.mapContainer.setVisible(false); templateGoogleMapRenderer.mapContainer.includeInLayout = false; But it was unsuccessfully. May be I can override some method in my UIComponent, that flex use during BitmapData/draw() ? Capture with hidden map is success result for me )

    I need some help getting some rich snippets to my site I inserted the review microdata following the instructions given on schema.org here http://schema.org/docs/gs.html#advanced_missing using the star-image for rating and the text for review count, but testing it with the test tool it showed nothing.   • ajax call to servlet puzzler

    Greetings! I'm having a problem getting a text value of a captcha from a servlet through ajax call. When my captcha gets created, its text value is written to session, but after refreshing the image itself though ajax call, I only get one old value of the text. Refreshing the image itself works ok, but I'm stuck getting the correct values from the session on subsequent call. On page reload I get both the new image and its new text value, no joy with ajax though.
