• How to change the font size in table cells according to cells content ?

  I have an HTML table which has incrementing numbers starting from 0 in its cells (left to right, up to bottom). I fixed in CSS the width and the height of the cells (40px width, 25px height, in my case). When the table becomes larger, the numbers inside it becomes large also (for example, the last number is 1266356). This causes the cells to be wider than I defined in the CSS, which expands the whole table accordingly. Instead, I would like the font of the numbers to be smaller to keep the width of the cell 40px. How can I accomplish this using CSS / Javascript / jQuery ?

  Hi, I am beginner in REST web services. I wrote a program of REST to display the HTML or XML. The @Path annotation's value is @Path("{typeDocument}"). There are two methods for GET : @GET @Produces(MediaType.TEXT_XML) public String getXml(@PathParam("typeDocument") String typeDocument) to display XML file, and @GET @Produces(MediaType.TEXT_HTML) public String getHtml(@PathParam("typeDocument") String typeDocument) to display HTML. The browser Firefox always excutes getHtml() when URL is either http://localhost:8080/sources/html or localhost:8080/sources/xml But IE always excutes getXml(). How to excute the correct method, as defined by URL, in different browser ? Thanks a lot.

• Maintain Constant Title Across Website

  If I am creating a website in ASP.NET, is it possible to programmatically set the title of the page be some predefined value with some extra information tacked on? For example: Home Page Title = Site Name Links Title = Site Name: Links Stuff Title = Site Name: Stuff Basically, whatever I defined as the main title on the page I'm currently on, I want to tack ": Name" onto the end of the title so it stays consistent across the website. I was thinking of defining it as a ContentPlaceHolder and wrapping some logic around it, but it doesn't appear to work how I thought it would (AKA, not at all).

  Recently I was reading php documentation and found interesting note in string section: Functions, method calls, static class variables, and class constants inside {$} work since PHP 5. However, the value accessed will be interpreted as the name of a variable in the scope in which the string is defined. Using single curly braces ({}) will not work for accessing the return values of functions or methods or the values of class constants or static class variables. See www.php.net/manual/en/language.types.string.php It says, that I can't use curly syntax to get value returned by object's method call. • Changing XML Namespace with Scala

  I am using scala to load a XML file from file via the scala.xml.XML.loadFile() method. The documents I'm working with have namespaces already defined and I wish to change the namespace to something else using scala. For example, a document has a xmlns of "http://foo.com/a" with a prefix of "a" - I would like to change the namespace and prefix for the document to "http://foo.com/b" and "b" respectively. Seems easy and I feel like I'm missing something obvious here. I do not have a problem getting the namespace from the return Elem from the referenced loadFile() method.

• Start all tab's activities for pre-cache

  I have a TabActivity with three tabs defined. The first tab is light-weight and renders in acceptable time. But the 2nd and 3rd tab, does need a couple of seconds to get visually rendered, after I click them. I would like to launch them, after I've loaded my first tab, in background for pre-cache. Once they are loaded, I can switch quickly between them. So I am wondering how can I launch the 2nd and 3rd tab. They are intents loaded in the view area.

  I know how to serialize an object to JSON in ASP.NET Ajax, but I'm trying to do things on the client in a less Microsoft-specific way. I'm using jQuery. Is there a "standard" way to do this?   I understand what the typical access specifiers are, and what they mean. 'public' members are accessible anywhere, 'private' members are accessible only by the same class and friends, etc. What I'm wondering is what, if anything, this equates to in lower-level terms. Are their any post-compilation functional differences between these beyond the high-level restrictions (what can access what) imposed by the language (c++ in this case) they're used in. Another way to put it - if this were a perfect world where programmers always made good choices (like not accessing members that may change later and using only well defined members that should stay the same between implementations), would their be any reason to use these things?

  I want to add an event handler to some dynamically added elements. I simplified my problem into the basic code below. I am using the new JQuery 1.7 on feature to say "hey for all labels in the CancelSurvey id element call this notify function when they are clicked." function notify(event) { console.log(event.data.name); } $('#CancelSurvey').on('click', 'label', { name: $(this).attr("id") }, notify); I want to pass the id of the label as parameter "name". When I try to alert this it is undefined (they are defined in the html created). I believe that using the $(this) is not referencing the label selector in this case. It actually seems to be referencing the document itself. Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

Is there a way to use the already defined regular expression to create those strings?   C# WinApps: the main form has a key binding to CTRL-V ...so anywhere in the main app when I press CTRL-V something runs..good ... but also there are some MDI apps that are opening inside this main app ... in one of those there is a test box...ah! now CTRL-V also has a meanining for text box which is "Paste" ... so I added PreViewKeyDown to textbox and handled it, so now it is pasting BUT it is ALSO doing the main CTRL-V key binding that I had defined for the whole app ... but I do no want this to happen.... what can I do? ( I cannot change the key binding od the main app. I must keep it.)

• X11, how to detect I’m the last window/application on the display

  I have an x11 display with a windowmanager (sadly not a specific one, could be twm, dtwm, mwm, metacity …) , myApp and other applications with windows. I want to close the display if the other applications are closed and myApp is the only one with windows on the display. I do know the windows of myApp, but how do I distinguish between the windows of the windowmanger and of the other applications. I’m currently polling with xwininfo -tree -root -children and comparing this to what I’m expecting, but this only works in a ‘well defined’ environment. It seems that many of the above mentioned windowmanager don’t support EWMH.

  Assume you have a list item, <li id="foo"> which you want to fade from one color to another when moused over, and that you are using jQuery. This is fairly easy: $('li#foo').bind('mouseenter' , function(e) { $(this).animate({backgroundColor: '#F00'} , 300); }); However, what if you wanted to get the resulting color or other style rules from a class defined in CSS without also declaring them in JavaScript? It seems there's no way to learn style information from CSS rules without having an example of the rule already in the document, which would require you to animate the <li> to the target appearance, then in the animation-finished callback, set the class which leads to redundant style declarations and can foul up your CSS at "runtime". Sorry if this question's unclear: It doesn't occur in the context of any specific project, I'm just curious how you'd go about this. Also, I know CSS3 hypothetically includes support for such transitions but using CSS for dynamic behavior like this seems such an ugly hack.

• How do you keep the value of global variables (namely a struct variable) between postbacks?

  I'm new to this and have already searched for this with not much luck :( Lets say I have defined a struct array globally and filled the array with data on an Ajax ModalPopupExtender. I then have a ddl_SelectedIndexChanged event that does a postback and seems to recycle my array. Is there a way to fire the ddl_SelectedIndexChanged event to perform some code without doing a postback? Or is there an easy way to make the array of type struct retain it's values?
