  I'm doing contextual object recognition and I need a prior for my observations. e.g. this space was labeled "dog", what's the probability that it was labeled correctly? Do you know if matlabs svmclassify has an argument to return this level of certainty with it's classification? If not, matlabs svm has the following structures in it: SVM = SupportVectors: [11x124 single] Alpha: [11x1 double] Bias: 0.0915 KernelFunction: @linear_kernel KernelFunctionArgs: {} GroupNames: {11x1 cell} SupportVectorIndices: [11x1 double] ScaleData: [1x1 struct] FigureHandles: [] Can you think of any ways to compute a good measure of uncertainty from these? (Which support vector to use?) Papers/articles explaining uncertainty in SVMs welcome. More in depth explanations of matlabs SVM are also welcome. If you can't do it this way, can you think of any other libraries with SVMs that have this measure of uncertainty?

  Hello, As the question states, i have implemented my first ICallbackEventHandler. In my c# callback function i use: Page.Validate("ENewsLetter2"); if (Page.IsValid) { if (!RegularExpressionValidatorEmail.IsValid) { sInvalidMessage += "Invalid E-Mail address.\n"; } return sInvalidMessage; } everytime i check the RegularExpressionValidatorEmail, the value is = "". I do not know if this is since the iCallbackEventHandler is asynchronous, the validator has not talked to the server yet so the value will always show up blank? Is it impossible to do what i am trying to do by using a iCallbackEventHandler?

Below is my setup: ForRequestedType<IWordTokensFilter>().TheDefaultIsConcreteType<CategoryFilter>() .AddInstances(x => { x.OfConcreteType<StopWordsFilter>(); } ); The problem is the run-time when structure map auto inject it on my class, bec. i have arguments with same plugin-type: public ClassA(IWordTokensFilter stopWordsFilter, IWordTokensFilter categoryFilter) i'm always getting CategoryFilter in my first argument but it should be stopWordsFilter. • Why are C, C++, and LISP so prevalent in embedded devices and robots?

  It seems that the software language skills most sought for embedded devices and robots are C, C++, and LISP. Why haven't more recent languages made inroads into these applications? For example, Erlang would seem particularly well-suited to robotic applications, since it makes concurrent programming easier and allows hot swapping of code. Python would seem to be useful, if for no other reason than its support of multiple programming paradigms. I'm even surprised that Java hasn't made a foray into general robotic programming. I'm sure one argument would be, "Some newer languages are interpreted, not compiled" - implying that compiled languages are quicker and use fewer computational resources. Is this still the case, in a time when we can put a Java Virtual Machine on a cell phone or a SunSpot? (and isn't LISP interpreted anyway?)

• Changing gmail Settings with Ruby

  I need to configure my gmail account(s) programmatically with Ruby. I checked out the apps api and it looks like the simplest possible solution would be to use ClientLogin for logging in and a simple XML PUT for changing the forwarding setting, for example. I wrote a little test script like so: http://gist.github.com/373457 It would appear that the call to ClientLogin works because it comes back with an Auth= token. When it sends the PUT request to google, however, it comes back with a RestClient::Unauthorized exception. I rewrote the script with pure net/https and it turns out the message I'm getting is invalid token, yet I can't figure out what is wrong with my token. Can anyone else see it?

• crtmqm give no response

  Hi all, I try to create a WebSphere queue manager in production env. Before this I manage to create the queue manager in the development env with no problem. I'm using this script to create the queue manager: crtmqm -u SYSTEM.DEAD.LETTER.QUEUE test1.qm But it give no response (no error or success message). When I try to start the queue manager (strmqm test1.qm) it give "AMQ8118: WebSphere MQ queue manager does not exist." Then I notice lots of strange thing that supposed not happen: I can run the "crtmqm -u SYSTEM.DEAD.LETTER.QUEUE test1.qm" several times without any error I can just type crtmqm and got no response I can type crtmqm -y (which is not possible since there is no -y argument) and still no response Can anyone tell me what is wrong?

• How to create a zip file and keep entries for directories?

  I would like to create a zip archive from a folder and keep entries for (non-empty) directories. In the code below, FileInputStream throws a FileNotFoundException when a directory is passed to AddToZip. I have tried to put a condition around the actual writing of bytes but it makes the whole archive invalid. • How can I sqldump a huge database?

  SELECT count(*) from table gives me 3296869 rows. The table only contains 4 columns, storing dropped domains. I tried to dump the sql through: $backupFile = $dbname . date("Y-m-d-H-i-s") . '.gz'; $command = "mysqldump --opt -h $dbhost -u $dbuser -p $dbpass $dbname | gzip > $backupFile"; However, this just dumps an empty 20 KB gzipped file. My client is using shared hosting so the server specs and resource usage aren't top of the line. I'm not even given ssh access or access directly to the database so I have to make queries through PHP scripts I upload via FTP ( SFTP isn't an option, again ). Is there some way I can perhaps sequentially download portions of it, or pass an argument to mysqldump that will optimize it? I came across http://jeremy.zawodny.com/blog/archives/000690.html which mentions the -q flag and tried that but it didn't seem to do anything differently.

  Using imageData = context.getImageData(0, 0, width, height); JSON.stringify(imageData.data); I grab the pixel data, convert it to a string, and then send it over the wire via websockets. However, this string can be pretty large, depending on the size of the canvas object. I tried using the compression technique found here: JavaScript implementation of Gzip but socket.io throws the error Websocket message contains invalid character(s). Is there an effective way to compress this data so that it can be sent over websockets?

  Hello, How can it be done in most simply way to write (or maybe there is something embedded in haskell) function which takse as arguments list of tuples (String, Int) and Int x and return top x tuples as list according to x value. I wonder if its possible to write a function which also takes 3 argument which is the name of (or index) of filed in tuple according to which sorting has to be done. What are best solutions to make it quite generic, Im new to haskell I would do somethink like that in imperative languages without any problems but I want to know how to write it in quite good way in haskell, thanks for help

  Take Java syntax as an example, though the question itself is language independent. If the following snippet takes an object MyAbstractEmailTemplate as input argument in the method setTemplate, the class MyGateway will then become tightly-coupled with the object MyAbstractEmailTemplate, which lessens the re-usability of the class MyGateway. A compromise is to use dependency-injection to ease the instantiation of MyAbstractEmailTemplate. This might solve the coupling problem to some extent, but the interface is still rigid, hardly providing enough ?exibility to other developers/ applications. So if we only use primitive data type (or even plain XML in web service) as the input/ output of a method, it seems the coupling problem no longer exists.   So I am dumb and I have this: select whatever from bank_accs b1, bank_accs b2, table3 t3 where t3.bank_acc_id = t1.bank_acc_id and b2.bank_acc_number = b1.bank_acc_number and b2.currency_code(+) = t3.buy_currency and trunc(sysdate) between nvl(b2.start_date, trunc(sysdate)) and nvl(b2.end_date, trunc(sysdate)); My problem is with the date (actuality) check on b2. Now, I need to return a row for each t3xb1 (t3 = ~10 tables joined, of course), even if there are ONLY INVALID records (date-wise) in b2. How do I outer-join this bit properly? Can't use ANSI joins, must do in a single flat query. Thanks.

• TFS 2008 and Common libraries folder structure.

  TFS 2008 and Common Libraries I have created a Team Project called "Common Library" that will host code used in numerous different Team Projects throughout TFS. For sake of argument, lets say we have 2 distinct Librarys under the "Common Library" Team Projects, MailProject and LoggingProject. Other projects throughout TFS will be using the binary representation of these projects via branching and not the actual source code. What is the best way to set up the folder structure for this Team Project? Do I add the project to the "Common Library" and simply "include" the bin/release folder as part of the project? I have seen some examples of people creating a seperate "Deploy" folder. I assume this is synonamous with the bin/release folder?

• Using generics in dotnet for functions with any number of arguments?

  I would like to have a function that can "wrap" any other function call. In this particular case, it would allow me to write some more generic transaction handling around some specific operations. I can write this for any particular number of arguments, e.g. for one argument: Public Shared Sub WrapFunc(Of T)(ByVal f As Action(Of T), ByVal arg As T) ' Test some stuff, start transaction f(arg) ' Test some stuff, end transaction End Sub ... but I was hoping to have this handle any number of arguments without having to have duplicate code for 0 args, 1 arg, 2 args, etc. Is there a way of doing this?

  In case of Java, we can get the path separator using System.getProperty("path.separator"); Is there a similar way in Perl? All I want to do is to find a dir, immediate sub directory. Say I am being given two argumens $a and $b; I am splitting the first one based on the path separator and joining it again except the last fragment and comparing with the second argument. The problem is my code has to be generic and for that I need to know whats the system dependent path separator is? Could you help if there is any way to get it? TIA

  Hello, I'm creating a Win32 program that will be executed every time the computer turns on. I manage to do this by adding the .exe path into the registry. The problem is; I want to make the program appear minimized in the system tray when the computer is turned on but if I double click it [after the computer turns on and the program is not currently running] the program should appear on its normal [maximized] size. Question, I was thinking on whether is was possible to pass an argument to the program when the program is executed from the registry. Is this possible? If yes/no, how would I manage to do this?   I'm trying to create an overload of the System.Console.ReadLine() method that will take a string argument. My intention basically is to be able to write string s = Console.ReadLine("Please enter a number: "); in stead of Console.Write("Please enter a number: "); string s = Console.ReadLine(); I don't think it is possible to overload Console.ReadLine itself, so I tried implementing an inherited class, like this: public static class MyConsole : System.Console { public static string ReadLine(string s) { Write(s); return ReadLine(); } } That doesn't work though, cause it is not possible to inherit from System.Console (because it is a static class which automatically makes is a sealed class). Does it make sense what I'm trying to do here? Or is it never a good idea to want to overload something from a static class?
