  • Piwik Web Analytics - Anyone with experience of it?

    I'm considering trying to get more granular analytics for my sites than the free plan on my current provider, Clicky, provides. Piwik looks like a strong contender in the analytics space (and I'm surprised I haven't heard about it before) but I want to be sure I'm not throwing the baby out with the bathwater by swapping to it. Does anyone have any experience with this software and - in particular - are there any people out there who've tried customising the code or developing their own plugin?

    I have loaded my database with one table under "Data Connections" in the "Server Explorer" pane. What is the standard / best-practices way to handle a simple query in a VB ASPX page? My left <div> would be a set of form elements to filter rows, and when the button is clicked, the main <div> would show the columns I want for the rows returned.     Hello folks I have an issue here, I guess you all know what is AD service account and why it is used for, if not please see the below description ? SSL-Explorer requires a dedicated Active Directory account to use for authenticating AD users. This account serves as a link to your Active Directory database. If the Service Account is not found on your AD database then the SSL-Explorer service will not start. Well I have Active Directory service account details and user submitted login/password details.In the code below I validated service account by giving MEMBER_GRPUP and adminPassword and I check whether the user exists in Active Directory by submitting samaaccountname but my question here is how do I validate the password submitted for that user? I am not sure how to do this, I appreciate if anybody has any suggestions on this.   • My Perforce Eclipse Plugin works only partially

    Hi all, I installed Perforce plugin version 3.4 on Eclipse Ganymede, configured my connection and workspace. My perforce perspective works just fine. However, when I work in the Java perspective, and I right-click any file in the project explorer, the "Team" context menu does not display the perforce options to check-out, sync etc. It only has the options "Apply patch" and "Show local history". This is super-annoying! Help, anyone?

  • Web page looks good in Firefox but every other browser hates it

    I am trying to make my own website and it was coming along quite nicely. It looked beautiful in Firefox when opened and worked wonderfully. But then I run it in any other browser and it does not work. How can I fix this?   • Can I migrate from ClearCase to Serena VM?

The ClearCase repository was not used for all it's functions, just as a place to hold copies of documents, so the only thing I need to keep is the files and their version histories.

Or are they too different from one another to make this possible? I know that there exist XSLT documents to transform SVG to XAML.

    I am about to launch a beta site, and heroku looks like a great option. The only think that is getting me down is that the only search option is $20/mth for the Websolr add-on. I am sure that Websolr is great, but at this very early point in this project, I rather not light up that expense. Are there any free search options to couple with heroku's Blossom (free) plan. I feel like such a cheapskate!

  • Web Services Primer for a WinForms Developer?

    I've been writing client/server applications with Winforms for about six years now, but I have yet to venture into the web space (neither ASP.NET nor web services). Given the direction that the job market has been heading for some time and the fact that I have a basic curiosity, I'd like to get involved with writing web services, but I don't know where to start. I've read about various options (XML/SOAP vs. JSON, REST vs...well, actually I don't know what it's called, etc.), but I'm not sure what sort of criteria are in play when making the determination to use one or the other. Obviously, I'd like to leverage the tools that I have (Visual Studio, the .NET framework, etc.) without hamstringing myself into only targeting a particular audience (i.e. writing the service in such a way as to make it difficult to consume from a Windows Mobile/Android/iPhone client, for example). For the record, my plan--for now--is to use WCF for my web service development, but I'm open to using another .NET approach if that's advisable. I realize that this question is pretty open-ended so it may get closed, but here are some things I'm wondering: What are some things to consider when choosing the type of web service (REST, etc.) I intend to write? Is it possible (and, if so, feasible) to move from one approach to another? Can web services be written in an event-driven way? As I said I'm a Winforms developer, so I'm used to objects raising events for me to react to. For instance, if I have two clients connected to my service, is there a way for me to "push" information to one of them as a result of an action by the other? If this is possible, is this advisable or am I just not thinking about it correctly? What authentication mechanisms seem to work best for public-facing services? What about if I plan to have different types of OS'es and clients connecting to the service? Is there a generally accepted platform-agnostic approach? In the line of authentication, is this something that I should be doing myself (authenticating an managing sessions, etc.) or is this something should be handled at the framework level and I just define exactly how it should work? If that's the case, how do I tell who the requester has authenticated themselves as? I started writing an authentication mechanism (simple username/password combinations stored in the database and a corresponding session table with a GUID key) within my service and just requiring that key to be passed with every operation (other than logging in, of course), but I want to make sure that I'm not reinventing the wheel here. However, I also don't want to clutter up the server with a bunch of machine user accounts just to use Basic authentication. I'm also under the impression that Digest (and of course Windows) authentication requires a machine (or AD) user account.
