• How does Windows LIve ID work?

  I happens to find this nice article explaining how OpenID works. Clearly, OpenID consumer and OpenID server transfer information through URL query string. I'm wondering how Live ID accomplish similar functionality. It seems the info is not exchanged through query string in URL. And, since Live ID login server have different domain name from consumer domain, it is not applicable to transfer info through cookie. I tried to google tutorial of Live ID, but the result is full of jargon and hard to understand. Is there any easy-to-understand tutorial about How Live ID works?

• Exceptions using CruiseControl.NET

  I recently updated to CC.NET 1.5 and I'm now getting some strange exceptions. On one project I get: - ThoughtWorks.CruiseControl.Core.CruiseControlException: Source control operation failed: svn: Can't create a character converter from native encoding to 'UTF-8' This happens when CC is checking a subversion repository for any mods. If I run the actual command line CC says is failing it works and returns an empty XML (there are no mods). Some other projects also fail to check mods with another "Source control operation failed" exception but no further info. Again the command is an "svn log" which when run from command line works ok. I'm using subversion 1.4.5 client side and my source repository exists on a separate box than my build server. Anyone got any ideas?

However, when I change the event handler in the doc.ready function to: $('#mybutton').live('click', function(){ myObject.someMethod(); }); it works!   In Rails3, I have the following line: @messages = Message.where("recipient_deleted = ?", false).find_by_recipient_id(@user.id) In my view, I loop through @messages and print out each message, as such: <% for message in @messages %> <%= message.sender_id %> <%= message.created_at %> <%= message.body %> <% end %> This works flawlessly when there are several messages. The problem is that when I have one message, I get an error thrown at me: undefined methodeach'` How do I force rails to always return an array of messages even if there's only one message so that each always works? • Why can't I retrieve UIDeviceOrientation correctly while playing a movie in MPMoviePlayerController?

  Everything works fine while I'm not playing anything (I'm calling beginnotifications, etc, and using the orientation to rotate my view). But after I start playing with MPMoviePlayerController every time I try a... UIDeviceOrientation orientation = [[UIDevice currentDevice] orientation]; ...orientation gets a UIDeviceOrientationUnknown. Any clue? When the movie stops everything works alright again. I need this orientation to rotate the player's window, because Im using Iphone OS 3.1 so I can't directly use the view property inside MPMovie player controller.

• Flash ActionScript 2.0 problem with the object's _visible parameter

  Hey guys, I've been trying to build something simple in Flash 8, and I stumbled across something weird I cannot explain: I have an object, and at some point of the program, I want it to be visible (it is invisible at first), so I write: _root.myObj._visible = true; _root.gameOver.swapDepths(_root.getNextHighestDepth()); //so it will be on the top and this works fine, the object becomes visible and etc. What I planned to happen next is that the user presses a button on that same object, and the object will go invisible: on(release) { trace(_root.myObj._visible); _root.myObj._visible = false; trace(_root.myObj._visible); _root.gotoAndPlay("three"); } The trace returns at first true and later on false, so the command works, but oddly the object stays visible, that's what I don't understand. • Transactions not working for SubSonic under Oracle?

  The following code sample works perfectly under SQL Server 2005: using (TransactionScope ts = new TransactionScope()) { using (SharedDbConnectionScope scope = new SharedDbConnectionScope()) { MyTable t = new MyTable(); t.Name = "Test"; t.Comments = "Comments 123"; t.Save(); ts.Complete(); } } But under Oracle 10g it throws a "ORA-02089: COMMIT is not allowed in a subordinate session" error. If I only execute the code inside the SharedDbConnectionScope block then everything works OK, but obviously I won't be able to execute operations under a transaction, thus risking data corruption. This is only a small sample of what my real application does. I'm not sure as to what may be causing this behavior; anyone out there care to shed some light on this issue please? In the current state, I am able to manually move the slider back and forth while download is progressing. How can I prevent the manual moving of progressbar, instead it works only based on progressbar.setProgress(progressbar.getProgress() + 1024); -- currently this works perfect, but I need to prevent the manual moving of progressbar during download.   I am trying to use InvokeScript method on the WebBrowser control to execute a script on the web page that has been loaded into my WebBrowser control. If I am calling just a simple javascript function, this works properly. However, the javascript function that I am trying to call is nested within a variable like this: var holder = { DoA: function() { .... }, DoB: function() { ..... } } Calling holder.DoA works fine when called from within the javascript, but the function is not called successfully when I try to call it from within my C# code like this: object obj1 = m_webBrowser.Document.InvokeScript("holder.DoA"); Any ideas?

• Populating ComboBoxDataColumn items and values

  I have a "populate combobox", and I'm so happy with it that I've even started using more comboboxes. It takes the combobox object by reference with the ID of the "value set" (or whatever you want to call it) from a table and adds the items and their respective values (which differ) and does the job. I've recently had the brilliant idea of using comboboxes in a gridview, and I was happy to notice that it worked JUST LIKE a single combobox, but populating all the comboboxes in the given column at the same time. ObjComboBox.Items.Add("yadayada"); //works just like ObjComboBoxColumn.Items.Add("blablabla"); But When I started planning how to populate these comboboxes I've noticed: There's no "Values" property in ComboBoxDataColumn. ObjComboBox.Values = whateverArray; //works, but the following doesn't ObjComboBoxColumn.Values = whateverArray; Questions: 0 - How do I populate it's values ? (I suspect it's just as simple, but uses another name) 1 - If it works just like a combobox, what's the explanation for not having this attribute ? -----[EDIT]------ So I've checked out Charles' quote, and I've figured I had to change my way of populating these bad boys. Instead of looping through the strings and inserting them one by one in the combobox, I should grab the fields I want to populate in a table, and set one column of the table as the "value", and other one as the "display". So I've done this: ObjComboBoxColumn.DataSource = DTConfig; //Double checked, guaranteed to be populated ObjComboBoxColumn.ValueMember = "Code"; ObjComboBoxColumn.DisplayMember = "Description"; But nothing happens, if I use the same object as so: ObjComboBoxColumn.Items.Add("StackOverflow"); It is added. There is no DataBind() function. It finds the two columns, and that's guaranteed ("Code" and "Description") and if I change their names to nonexistant ones it gives me an exception, so that's a good sign. -----[EDIT]------ I have a table in SQL Server that is something like code  |  text —————    1    | foo    2    | bar It's simple, and with other comboboxes (outside of gridviews) i've successfully populated looping through the rows and adding the texts: ObjComboBox.Items.Add(MyDataTable.Rows[I]["MyColumnName"].ToString()); And getting every value, adding it into an array, and setting it like: ObjComboBox.Values = MyArray; I'd like to populate my comboboxColumns just as simply as I do with comboboxes.

  The following code works in one script yet in another only works if a specify the "--" end of options flag before specifying an option: my $opt; GetOptions( 'help|h' => sub { usage("you want help?? hahaha, hopefully your not serious!!"); }, 'file|f=s' => \$opt->{FILE}, 'report|r' => \$opt->{REPORT}, ) or usage("Bad Options"); In other words, the same code words in good.pl and bad.pl like so: good.pl -f bad.pl -- -f If I try bad.pl -f I get "unknown option:f" Anyone have any clue as to what can cause this behavior? • Weird problems with ruby servers on Ubuntu 9.10

  So I'm using Ubuntu 9.10, trying to setup and deploy my app, but for some reason, whenever I try and boot up thin, it tells me it can't find rails, script/console, however, works fine. Heck, even script/server works fine as long as I don't try and daemonize it, then it just fails without any errors. Any ideas on what the hell is going on? I'm using rvm with the default ubuntu ruby as my system ruby. I have set REE as the default ruby though. This was still happening back when I had only REE installed via their installer script too.

• Web service creates stack overflow

  I have an application that when executed as a windows application works fine, but when converted to a web service, in some instances (which were tested successfully) by the windows app) creates a stack overflow. Do you have an idea of what can cause this? (Note that it works fine when the web service is placed on the localhost). Could it be that the stack size of a Web Service is smaller than that of a Window Application?   I'm using Xenocode in my application so that it works without a .NET framework. I'm using Xenocode Virtual Application Studio(version 6.1). Everything works fine except the .sdf file which I have embedded inside the application directory. actually in the application the instead of SQL server i have used SQL Compact edition(3.5) and i have included the reqired dll . All the files are working except the ".sdf" file. Any idea y is that so? Is it because the ".sdf" file is being used when the xenocode after snapshot was taken? if so what is the solution for that? i cannot avoid using it because Xenocode's after snapshot will not recognise the application if it's not running and if I run the application ".sdf" file will be used. Anyway to solve this?

• jQuery fadeOut, replaceWith, animate almost working

  I am trying to accomplish the following: 1. On click, have a div with id="fader" fadeout 2. replaceHtml of fader with new html (this new HTML will appear below the fold of the browser) 3. Animate new HTML to slide up to the specified location Step 1 and 2 are working, step 3 is not and I'm stumped as to why. Here's the javascript: $("#fader").fadeOut(1000, function() { $(this).replaceWith('<div id=\"fader\" style=\"margin-top:-500px;width:500px;height:400px;border:1px solid black;\">new div</div>', function() { $("#fader").animate({marginTop: "500px"}); }); }); Any thoughts on why the div won't animate would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

• Android app (with felix) crashes with LinearAlloc exceeded capacity

  I am running apache felix and an osgi app on android (3.2). This works pretty well so far, but I have rather large chunks of data to load into the application (osgi bundles). The problem with that is that when I load the biggest chunk of data I get LinearAlloc exceeded capacity The error seems to come from LinearAlloc.c \#define DEFAULT_MAX_LENGTH (4*1024*1024) if (nextOffset > pHdr->mapLength) { /* * We don't have to abort here. We could fall back on the system * malloc(), and have our "free" call figure out what to do. Only * works if the users of these functions actually free everything * they allocate. */ LOGE("LinearAlloc exceeded capacity, last=%d\n", (int) size); dvmAbort(); } afaik in 3.2/4.x it is even 8*1024*1024, but I still hit that limit. I'm looking to get better insight on what causes this problem and how I might possibly be able to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

• AppleScript to open URL in Safari crashes for Flash-based websites

  I'm trying to open a URL in Safari. It works fine for websites without Flash embedded, but crashes Safari for Flash sites. Example (this WORKS): tell application "Safari" to open location "http://google.com" This CRASHES when Safari is not already running: tell application "Safari" to open location "http://grooveshark.com" Two things I noticed: Safari only crashes for websites with embedded Flash The script above only crashes if a new instance of Safari is created (i.e. Safari was not running before) From the second observation I assume that it could be a permission issue of some sort. Maybe the Safari instance launched from the AppleScript has a problem loading plugins?

It works just fine coloring the cells it's supposed to, but if I refresh the table, all the colors disappear, as if the colors haven't been properly attached to the PivotTable. • Interchanging presentModalViewController and pushViewController

  I am using a sample ViewController that is displayed in the sample program as a presentModalViewController. However, I want to use pushViewController on the UIViewController instead. The problem is that when I switch to pushViewController, the ViewController no displays properly. Functions in the ViewController are called, but I don't see anything. I change back to presentModalViewController and everything works. The question is what do I need to do to make pushViewController work? It is working fine as it sends and gets the response correctly(status as 200), but not calling the Callback function in some browsers such as IE,Chrome and Safari.It works fine in Firefox and Opera. the Code that is not working, $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'form/ajax', async: true, cache: false, dataType : 'json', data: 'id='+ids, success: function(jsonData){ alert("ok go"); } }); the alert "OK Go" is not called in Chrome,IE and Safari But $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'form/ajax', async: true, cache: false, dataType : 'json', data: 'id='+ids, success: alert("ok go"); }); this works, but as per the project i want the JSON data to load in my Select element. is there any thing wrong in the return JSON format or the bug in the jQuery Ajax functions, please help.

• CruiseControl failing view compilation with Asp.net MVC 2 RTM

  Tehnologies: - CruiseControlNet - Asp.net MVC 2 RTM - enabled view compilation The problem is UrlParameter.Optional setting. I can't seem to make it work when I use this setting inside a view. When I compile inside Visual Studio, everything works fine, but when CCNet uses MSBuild to compile it it fails with following error: errorCS0103: The name 'UrlParameter' does not exist in the current context pointing to the line inside my view where this parameter is set on: Html.RenderAction(...) that sets certain route parameter(s) to optional. I tried adding <%@ Assembly name="System.Web.Mvc" %> at the top of my view, but it didn't work either. It works of course when I disable view compilation, but that's not really an option. And I also don't want to set my optional parameters to string.Empty. Anyone has any hint on this?
