• 0% CPU in top for all processes, but load average > 1

A reboot fixed this on an earlier machine, but I haven't yet tried it on this one. I have tried top several times, and so am sure that I haven't accidentally pressed '<' or '' to sort by a different column. Sorting the process list by all of the available columns, stills shows 0% CPU for all displayed processes. What is going on? If this a kernel bug? Update: If I use top -p <PID> for a know, busy process, top still displays 0% CPU for that process.

• How do I add a space between two concatenated NSStrings?

  I have three string objects: NSString *firstName; NSString *lastName; NSString *fullName; The values for firstName and lastName are received from NSTextFields. I then want to concatenate the two strings and place the result in fullname. This is the code that I'm using: fullName = [firstName stringByAppendingString:lastName]; However, the result does not put a space between the two names (e.g. JohnSmith). How do I add in the space? I'd like the result to look like (John Smith).

• Compare values for audit trail

  I'm attempting to develop an audit trail/tracking solution for an existing database written in PLSQL/PHP - however I'm still unsure as of yet on an easy (to implement and maintain) solution for tracking changes to fields/values. For instance, the project tracking portion of the DB APP tracks over 200 fields and ideally I'd like a nice way to show a history of changes, such as: 5/10/2010 - Project 435232 updated by John Doe Changed Project Name (Old: Test Project; New: Super Test Project) Changed Submission Date (Old: 5/10/2010; New: 5/11/2010) Changed Description (Old: This is an example!; New: This is a test example) Essentially for each field (db column) it would output a new line to show the old/new values. So far my current idea is saving the current version of the data to a temporary table, updating the primary table with the new data then loading each row into an array and doing an array compare to determine the differences. This seems a bit convoluted, and if there is an easier method I'd love to know it. Any ideas or suggestions are much appreciated!

FOR XML PATH('') but that was inlcuding weird encoded characters (eg. carriage return). ... so i'm not 100% happy with that. I also tried to see if there's a COALESCE solution, but all my attempts failed. So - any suggestions?

I get occasionally high CPU load on one of the Apache processes which stays high regardless of traffic or cron activity. It seems to me that its stuck in some kind of loop or something. • How can I populate highchart jQuery plugin dynamically from MVC action?

  I'm trying out the Highcharts jQuery plugin for creating charts of data in an MVC application. But I need to get the data for the function dynamically from an Action Method. How can I do that? • Intersection of two querysets in django

  Hello, I can't do an AND on two querysets. As in, q1 & q2. I get the empty set and I do not know why. I have tested this with the simplest cases. I am using django 1.1.1 I have basically objects like this: item1 name="Joe" color = "blue" item2 name="Jim" color = "blue" color = "white" item3 name="John" color = "red" color = "white" Is there something weird about having a many-to-many relationship or what am I missing? queryset1 = Item.objects.filter(color="blue") this gives (item1, item2) queryset2 = Item.objects.filter(color="white") this gives (item2, item3) queryset1 & queryset2 gives me the empty set [] The OR operator works fine (I'm using "|" ) Why is this so?

• Website has become slower on a VPS, was much fast on a shared host. What's wrong?

  My shared host suspended my website stating system overload, so I moved my website to a VPS which has 4GB RAM. But for some reason the website has become very slow. I know I need to tweak some settings but have no clue where to start from? I have already tried to optimize apache, mysql etc. Update 2: CPU usage is low, see uptime output: 11:09:02 up 7 days, 21:26, 1 user, load average: 0.09, 0.11, 0.09 Update 3: When I load any webpage, browser shows "Waiting" for a long time and then page loads quickly. These are my tables. student table: SID (primary) student_name advisor (foreign key to faculty.facultyID) requested_advisor (foreign key to faculty.facultyID) faculty table: facultyID (primary key) advisor_name I want to query a table that shows everything in the student table, but I want advisor and requested_advisor to show up as names, not the ID numbers. so like it displays like this on the webpage: Student Name: Jane Smith SID: 860123456 Current Advisor: John Smith Requested advisor: James Smith not like this Student Name: Jane Smith SID: 860123456 Current Advisor: 1 Requested advisor: 2 SELECT student.student_name, SID, student_email, faculty.advisor_name FROM student INNER JOIN faculty ON student.advisor = faculty.facultyID; this comes out close, but I don't know how to get the requested_advisor to show up as a name.

  I am trying to create a UserDon object, and trying to generate the get and set methods programmatically ( based on Pro Javascript book by John Resig page 37 ), and am testing this on Firefox 3.5 The problem is: in function UserDon, "this" refers to the window object instead of the UserDon object. So after calling var userdon = new UserDon(...) I got setname and getname methods created on the window object (also setage and getage).   I have a problem that seems similar to this fellow - I just want to display the data slightly differently. I'm pretty terrible with SQL so can't modify it to suit, but perhaps someone else can. My table looks similar to this (date format is dd/mm/yyyy): ID User Date_start Role 1 Andy 01/04/2010 A 2 Andy 10/04/2010 B 3 Andy 20/04/2010 A 4 John 02/05/2010 A I want to show the total number of days that anyone was in a certain role. Users stay in the role until there is another entry into the table. Users can only be in one role at a time.   Hi All, The application I am currently working on requires me to extract contents from and verify the authenticity of the signed jar that is stored on the SD Card. In Java [and Android], we have the java.util.jar and java.util.zip classes, that allow to extract jar. However, J2ME or BlackBerry® does not provide support for these packages. I have, however, successfully extracted these using the third party ZipMe library. Can anyone let me know, how to get the signature block from the .DSA/.RSA file to authenticate the jar? I have the certificate that was used to sign the jar as well. This is easily done in Java using the getCertificates() method available in java.util.jar.JarFile.   I'm unsatisfied with other JavaScript libraries and frameworks like jQuery, MooTools, and Raphael, because of their inability to support SVG grouping. You'd think it'd be a very simple thing for them to implement.   Imagine this directory structure: app/ __init__.py sub1/ __init__.py mod1.py sub2/ __init__.py mod2.py I'm coding mod1, and I need to import something from mod2. How should I do it? I tried from ..sub2 import mod2 but I'm getting an "Attempted relative import in non-package". I googled around but found only "sys.path manipulation" hacks. Isn't there a clean way? Edit: all my __init__.py's are currently empty Edit2: I'm trying to do this because sub2 contains classes that are shared across sub packages (sub1, subX, etc.). I want to be able to add a new highscore using url parameters like this http://mydomain.com/hs/add&name=John&score=987. According to REST this must be done using a POST request. Which leads to empty POST request with all data contained in the URL parameters. Would this be considered a bad practice? Update Security is currently not a big concern.

• Unable to browse to apache service, Service is running

  Summary I have a very peculiar problem. I am not able to open the "It Works!" page after installing a fresh server with apache. I am able to ssh to the box (from outside the network). Apache seems to be running on my Centos6.4x86_64 box just fine. Nothing useful in /var/logs/httpd/*. What am I missing? The setup I am outside the network right now. The "server" is a VM on my home computer running bridged mode. public ip: A.B.C.D Host: 192.168.1.5 VM: 192.168.1.8 I have a verizon fios router that is forwarding ports 22, 80, and 8888 to the VM. I am able to ssh over port 22, but I am not able to browse to the public URL over port 80. so A.B.C.D:22 is working, but http://A.B.C.D:80 is not. What I've tried nmap to see if it is listening: nmap -sT -O localhost Starting Nmap 5.51 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2013-10-25 11:10 EDT Nmap scan report for localhost (127.0.0.1) Host is up (0.000040s latency). Other addresses for localhost (not scanned): 127.0.0.1 Not shown: 996 closed ports PORT STATE SERVICE 22/tcp open ssh 25/tcp open smtp 80/tcp open http 3306/tcp open mysql I tried going to it locally (lynx) and it does work. So, is the problem in my ports?

  I am experiencing high CPU usage here is the stats i got from server, the consumption after every restart in 15 minutes go upto 100%, what could go wrong?
