  • How can I quickly set the iPhone deployment target in Xcode?

    I was reading this great article about Base SDK and Deployment targets and decided to try it out myself. The Deployment target seems to be buried in the Build settings, and not that easy to access compared to the Base SDK target (which is right there in the General tab of the project settings). To get to the Deployment settings now I have to Get Info, go to the Build tab, then search for "Deployment". Is there a quick way to check and access the Deployment target in Xcode that I'm missing?

    I have configured the wildcard DNS of *.mydomain.com and it's all working properly. My question is which of these should I rely on identifying client subdomain requests? $_SERVER["HTTP_HOST"] $_SERVER["SERVER_NAME"] $_SERVER["SCRIPT_URI"] They all seem to contain the subdomain part I want but after reading this article by Chris: http://shiflett.org/blog/2005/feb/more-on-filtering-input-and-escaping-output, I'm lost at see and there appears to be no safe way to do this? Any idea on accomplishing this task securely?

  • Why is overloading operator&() prohibited for classes stored in STL containers?

    Suddenly in this article ("problem 2") I see a statement that C++ Standard prohibits using STL containers for storing elemants of class if that class has an overloaded operator&(). Having overloaded operator&() can indeed be problematic, but looks like a default "address-of" operator can be used easily through a set of dirty-looking casts that are used in boost::addressof() and are believed to be portable and standard-compilant. Why is having an overloaded operator&() prohibited for classes stored in STL containers while the boost::addressof() workaround exists?

    Is there a g++ equivalent to Visual Studio's __declspec(novtable) argument? Basically, in a pure virtual base class the __declspec(novtable) argument can be used to suppress the creation of a vtable for the base class as well as vtable initialization/deinitialization code in the contstructor/destructor respectively. E.g., class __declspec(novtable) PureVirtualBaseClass { public: PureVirtualBaseClass(){} virtual ~PureVirtualBaseClass() = 0; }; See Paul DiLascia's article for more info.   • Visual Studio: Debuggin non localhost domain, locally

    I have an entry in my hosts file that points somesite.com to 127.0.0.1 (localhost) so that I can test certain aspects of my web app (i goto http://somesite.com in a browser to test). Can someone suggest a way to debug a setup like this (in visual studio) that does not include using http://localhost? I understand that this can most likely be done using remote debugger, if that is the best way can someone explain how thats setup (or a link to a good article).

When I Google "immutable data structures" I get a Wikipedia link to an article on "Persistent data structure" which even goes on to say: such data structures are effectively immutable Which further confuses things for me.     I read this article by Miguel de Icaza on attaching an assembly into a live mono process. How is this any different to attaching a DLL to a running process? I do this already, but once the DLL is attached, it can't be unloaded without using an AppDomain (which I am trying to avoid). Miguel talks about "patch[ing] running programs", but I don't understand how. I cant find any other documentation or examples on this.

Which are the possible cons I might face when Rendering? Using CSS, JS? The one I remember is: IE6 can't clone tags it doesn't know.

  • Flex DataGrid with row number column

    I want to extend the DataGrid component so that there is a (read-only) column for the row number like you see in spreadsheets. I came across this article http://www.cflex.net/showFileDetails.cfm?ObjectID=735 but it depends on the data being unique for each row so that it can index into the array. If the data is not unique (like for an empty grid) it doesn't work. How can I implement that?
