• Store XML,update record in XML,retrive a specific record in XML stored on BB device

  I am writing a blackberry application where i want to store the data returned by a web service in my BB device.Earlier i was going to use SQLite for storing the data in mobile but as i googled and also did programming using SQLite and found that some BB devices dont support SQLite library and fail to create the database.Then i decided to keep the data returned by webservice in a XML format on my BB device. I just want to know is there any method or way in blackberry through which i can parse the data stored in xml,update it,or directly access a particular record stored in the xml instead of traversing the whole xml n times and finding the matched record. Please guide me as i am new to storing data in BB device.Is the approach which i am thinking to store data in XML right or shall i use something else Thanks in advance Yogesh Chaudhari

  Hello, I'm having some difficulties with Ajax.BeginForm I have something like this in a view <% using (Ajax.BeginForm("ActionName", null , null, new { id = "FormName" })) {%> <input type="hidden" value = '<%= Html.Encode( Model.id) %>' name="id"/> <textarea id="message" name=message rows="4" style="width: 90%"> </textarea> <% }%} And the action method is something like this [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] [Authorize] public ActionResult ActionName(int id, string message) { .... } I'm trying to pass the 'id' and 'message' to the action method. I'm passing 'null' for routeValues but I dont know what to pass. Ideally I was trying to find an overload that did not require route values but took actionName and htmlattributes (for form name) but I could not find one.I don't want to add 'message' to the view-model and I do need the FormName in there for jquery operations. What is the best way to work around this problem ?

  Hi, I have a question that has pretty much been asked here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/780643/asp-net-mvc-html-actionlink-keeping-route-value-i-dont-want However, the final solution is a kludge, pure and simple and I really would like to understand why this happens, if someone can please explain it to me? For completeness, it is possible to recreate the scenario very easily: Create a new MVC web app. Run it up. Visit the About tab Modify the URL to read /Home/About/Flib - This obviously takes you to the action with an id of 'Flib' which we don't care about. Notice that the top menu link to About now actually links to /Home/About/Flib - this is wrong as far as I can see, as I now have absolutely no way of using site links to get back to /Home/About I really don't understand why I should be forced to modify all of my Html.ActionLinks to include new { id = string.Empty } for the routevalues and null for the htmlAttribs. This seems especially out of whack because I already specify id = 0 as part of the route itself. Hopefully I'm missing a trick here.

• MKMapView Memory Leak in iPhone Application

  I am working on an iPhone application which uses MKMapView and shows userlocation. I am getting memory leaks where leaked object is NSCFArray of size 128 Bytes, GeneralBlock-16, GenralBlock-8 when is set MKMapView's showUserLocation property as TRUE. If is set it as NO then i dont get this leak. Can anyone suggest that what can be the possible reason for this. Is this a bug in MKMapView class or is am I using the MKMapView incorrectly. • Validating form dropdown in CodeIgniter

  Hi, I am using CodeIgniter's form helper and form validation library to build my forms. I'm having trouble making the dropdown 'sticky' and also finding appropriate validation rules. This is how I'm populating the drodown: foreach($events as $event){ $options[$event->event_title] = $event->event_title; } $firstItem = '<option>Please select one...</option>'; echo form_dropdown('events', $options, '', $firstItem); This is building the options from events stored in the database. The form looks fine and is populating tall the fields correctly. Hwoever, when I come to submit the form, the dropdown isn't holding onto the value selected? Also, how should I validate it, I want to make it required but I also want to make sure that I dont except the first option in the dropdown 'Please select one...' Thanks in advance. Cheers, Gaz

• MVC Dropdown List isn't binding to the model.

  Hi, I am trying set up a simple dropdown list but I dont seem to be able to get it to bind to the Model. I am using Asp.Net MVC and nhibernate. My dropdown list is declared like so: <%= Html.DropDownListFor(model => model.Project, (IEnumerable<SelectListItem>)ViewData["Projects"], " -- Select -- ", new { name = "Project" })%> I set up the select list like so: ViewData["Projects"] = new SelectList(projectRepository.GetAll(), "EntityGUID", "Name", editEntity.Project); This seems to bind the select list to the Dropdown fine, but the SelectedValue is not set. it shows up as the default --- Select --- Also when I save this data, the dropdown does not bind to the model, I have to manually set the object like so to save it: entity.Project = projectRepository.GetById(new Guid(Request["Project"].ToString())); I believe I have take the correct messures to have this item bind directly to my model.   After deploying a WCF RESTful service that i created using the REST started kit, i got several errors that i managed to solve following this post: http://www.edoverip.com/edoverip/index.php/2009/01/30/running-wcf-on-godaddy Now i'm stuck with this error: IIS specified authentication schemes 'Basic, Anonymous', but the binding only supports specification of exactly one authentication scheme. Valid authentication schemes are Digest, Negotiate, NTLM, Basic, or Anonymous. Change the IIS settings so that only a single authentication scheme is used I saw that others got to this point without a solution. GoDaddy support dont know nothing. Is it possible at all? Are there any web hosting services that you know that support that?

On the dynatree site, I've found an example how to use it with IFrames http://wwwendt.de/tech/dynatree/doc/sample-iframe.html I was able to adapt the IFrame example successfully. But i'm a bit stuck here, because I'd like to load the tree either via UL/LI or better, with Jason/Ajax. my problem now is, that I dont understand how to provide ther url/links with LI or Jason, so that clicking an entry still opens the linked site in the iframe. Also don't know how I have to format parents/children/subchildren in Json.. Would anybody be so kind to give a sample with iframe and jason/ajax or iframe with ul/li? Thanks a lot :-) G

  Hello, I have a datagrid with some TextColumn and one DataGridCheckBoxColumn. I bind it with à itemsource that contaned à boolean and i can see that my checkboxes or checked or not by the boolean everything is OK at this point. but the checkboxs cells are in ReadOnly even if i assigne IsReadOnly = False. I cant find the right and clean way to enable the editing. I dont need data validation but juste to be able to edit and check those checkboxes :) If anyone can help! thanks !!

• Hide a view controller's view while flipping a view

  I have 3 views in my app. Main view has 2 buttons and when selected it displays 2nd view(which again has buttons and displays a 3rd view with images). I have a home button on second view. When pressed I want to show the main view. I can do this if I add the 2nd view as subview [self.view addSubview:secondViewController.view] But whenever 2nd view flips to display the 3rd view, I can see the main view while it is flipping. Now if I add 2nd view as below self.view = secondViewController.view then I dont have the main view to display when the home button is pressed. How can I hide the main view when 2nd view is flipping to show 3rd view?

• [C#/WPF] Combo box Item source = ObservableCollection & I need a '-None-' dummy entry at the top

  I have a combo box using an observable collection as a datasource and I want a "dummy" value of "None" as the first item in the box as it controls filters against other data sources. Other databound objects also use the same observable collection so adding a "None" value directly to the datasource is not possible as I dont want, for example, my datagrids having a "none" in them. Also I'd rather avoid filters to just remove the "none" value for those that do not use it, as I'd like the observable collection to direclty reflect the database data; if at all possible. I'd also like to avoid having one observable collection per databound control. What I'm really after is a was to put a, non data bound, first entry into a combobox while also having the item source pointed at an obervable collection. Thanks

• Using long polling with WinForms Clients in .NET

  Hi We need to develop a .NET application, basically a WinForms client, which needs to be notified of changes only from the server to update the UI only in case of necessity and not every time. We initially thought of NetTCPBinding but understood that it has problems with firewalls across domains and secure networks. We now consider long-polling as a viable option but we could only find this being used with WPF and XAML clients. For example, http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/duplexhttp But we could not find anything with WinForms. My opinion is that long-polling has to do with WCF and does not matter what UI technology is used (within .NET). Do you think it is possible to use long-polling with a custom WCF channel for WinForms? I am on the way to develop a POC but dont have much time. Any help in the right direction is much appreciated.   I'm trying to resize an image using stretchableImageWithLeftCapWidth: it works on the simulator, but on the device, vertical green bars appears. I've tried to use imageNamed, imageWithContentOfFile and imageWithData lo load the image, it doesnt change.   script: http://keith-wood.name/countdown.htm daily json response: items: { fajr: '5:23 am', sharooq: '7:23 am', dhur: '1:34 pm', asr: '4:66 pm': magrib: '6:23 pm', isha: '8:01 pm'} when site loads i make ajax request and get the above response times, these are events that happens daily for everyday, but different timing. i want to get that time and put a count down on how many minitues left or hours or seconds and show that and once the seconds are done, then show how many minitues ago that event took place, after 15 minitues later show new even count down. so following on how it will look on display dhur 2 hours left dhur 2 minutes left (if no longer hours left) dhur 55 seconds left (if no longer minutes left) dhur 5 seconds ago (if count down finished and then show how many seconds ago) dhur 9 minutes ago (if extended more then seconds, then show how many minutes ago) asr 1 hour left (after 15 minutes later time changes to new event) this is kind of very simple for pro in javascript and really complicated for me, so need your guys help, if the script im using not good and you prefer some other script for this kind of task, please share with me, it dont have to be jquery script, but helps if its jquery.

  I know that when attaching an entity into a DataContext you have to also attach the related referenced objects manually too. While I'm attaching the EntityRef<'s everything works as expected and my entities are updated to the database. But i have noticed that a problem occurs while trying to attach the EntitySet<'s. I dont use rowversion columns so I'm attaching for every entity on the EntitySet< using original values. Tried just attaching AttachAll() the EntitySet< with no luck and no exception too. There is no exception but the update is not really happening. What am i missing?

  I need to generate and validate product keys and have been thinking about using a public/private key system. I generate our product keys based on a client name (which could be a variable length string) a 6 digit serial number. It would be good if the product key would be of a manageable length (16 characters or so) I need to encrypt them at the base and then distrubute the decryption/validation system. As our system is written in managed code (.NET) we dont want to distribute the encryption system, only the decryption. I need a public private key seems a good way to do this, encrypt with the one key that i keep and distribute the other key needed for decrpytion/verification. What is an appropriate mechanism to do this with the above requirements?

For my web site i will need the following functionality: display a map of specific location. display route map between two or more location calculate distance between 2 locations. I found most of the functionality at the Bing Maps interactive SDK site: and it works fine.   Hi In Android I can get phone numbers of all the contacts without any problem. Tha problem is that for most users some numbers are stored as 'local' numbers, meaning that they dont have the country code included. For example, if the user lives in US and he has 2 contacts: 1) John - 555-123-1234 (local) (starting 1 not showing) 2) Jane - 44-123456787 (england phone number) The question is: How do I get all the numbers in an international format, when some of the numbers doesnt include the country code?
