• Exim - Sender verify failed - rejected RCPT

  While checking on Exim's log messages I found many entries of the following message "Sender verify failed" "rejected RCPT" ... I 'm not an exim expert... I'm afraid Exim is not delivering 100% emails to recipients, because our Email Marketing Application its getting a lower OPEN RATE. Can someone helpe understand this log messages? Is it my server saying "No Such User Here" or a remote server? 174.111.111.11 represents my server IP. • Localhost working fine with executing php code except mail function.

  i tried executing the mail() and got the following error "Warning: mail() [function.mail]: Failed to connect to mailserver at "localhost" port 25, verify your "SMTP" and "smtp_port" setting in php.ini or use ini_set() " but SMTP and smtp_port are both set in php.ini more ever other codes are working fine with localhost. disabled or/and added exception to firewell no result.... tried telnet localhost 25 error:could not connect to localhost port 25:connection failed..... Thunderbird my mail client says:could not connect to server localhost the connection was refused.... php.ini [mail function] ; For Win32 only. ; http://php.net/smtp SMTP = localhost smtp_port = 25 running mercury mail server in xampp... previously working fine but now not working..

  I spent last 3 hours of reasearch on how to get nagios to work with email notifications, i need to send emails form work where the only accesible smtp server is the company's one. i managed to get it done from the console using: mail [email protected] working perfectly for the purpouse i set up ssmtp.conf so as: [email protected] mailhub=smtp.company.com:587 [email protected] AuthPass=mypassword FromLineOverride=YES useSTARTTLS=YES rewriteDomain=company.pl hostname=nagios UseTLS=YES i also edited the file /etc/ssmtp/revaliases so as: root:[email protected]:smtp.company.com:587 nagios:[email protected]:smtp.company.com:587 nagiosadmin:[email protected]:smtp.company.com:587 i also edited the file permisions for /etc/ssmtp/* so as: -rwxrwxrwx 1 root nagios 371 lis 22 15:27 /etc/ssmtp/revaliases -rwxrwxrwx 1 root nagios 1569 lis 22 17:36 /etc/ssmtp/ssmtp.conf and i assigned to proper groups i belive: cat /etc/group |grep nagios mail:x:12:mail,postfix,nagios mailnull:x:47:nagios nagios:x:2106:nagios nagcmd:x:2107:nagios when i send mail manualy, i recieve it on my priv box, but when i send mail from nagios the mail log says: Nov 22 17:47:03 certa-vm2 sSMTP[9099]: MAIL FROM:<[email protected]> Nov 22 17:47:03 certa-vm2 sSMTP[9099]: 550 You are not allowed to send mail from this address it says [email protected] and im not allowed to send mails claiming to be [email protected], its suppoused to be [email protected], what am i doing wrong? i ran out of tricks... kind regards Adam xxxx

  In postfix, I'm using relay_host to send an email to an external address using sendgrid, but I get an error about local ricipient table when sending an email from my PHP code. This is my main.cf in /postfix/ ## -- Sendgrid smtp_sasl_auth_enable = yes smtp_sasl_password_maps = static:username:password smtp_sasl_security_options = noanonymous smtp_tls_security_level = may header_size_limit = 4096000 relayhost = [smtp.sendgrid.net]:587 This is the error message from the log: postfix/smtpd[53598]: [ID 197553 mail.info] NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from localhost[127.0.0.1]: 550 5.1.1 Recipient address rejected: User unknown in local recipient table; from=<[email protected]> to=<[email protected]> proto=ESMTP helo=<localhost.localdomain> One interesting thing is when I use "sendmail [email protected]" from the command line, the email is delivered successfully using SendGrid. I think it's because this uses postfix/smtp instead of postfix/smtpD the log for this says, postfix/smtp[18670]: [ID 197553 mail.info] AAF7313A7E: to=, relay=smtp.sendgrid.net[50.97.69.148]:587, delay=4.1, delays=3.5/0.02/0.44/0.18, dsn=2.0.0, status=sent (250 Delivery in progress) Thank you

• Want to add a new domain to my postfix, but mails not delivered (mail look back to myself)

  Hi everybody, My host relay is working but I was aksed to add a new domain (like external.example.com). I have added in main.cf the new fqdn in relay_domains relay_domains = $mydestination, example.com,example2.com, externe.example.com and in transport example.com smtp:[192.168.1.22] example2.com smtp:[192.168.1.22] external.example.com smtp:[192.168.1.22] Mails sent to users with example.com and example2.com domain are well delivered. But for mails to external.example.com i got this message Mar 17 16:47:52 relayhost postfix/smtp[11948]: 754E1876A01: to=<[email protected]>, relay=relayhost2.example.com[80.81.82.83]:25, delay=19555, delays=19525/0.01/30/0, dsn=4.4.6, status=deferred (mail for external.example.com loops back to myself) I read another Q/A about the same issue right here, but it's not helping me. Can you ?

• 550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable on OS X server 10.6

  I recently added a new domain to my mail server. I have 1 main server mail.example.com and several others that have the mx record pointing to mail.example.com. My two new domains have the mx record set correctly. The issue I am experiencing is the 550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable error but only when I send emails to accounts on the new urls from an external email account such as gmail. If i send an email to one of the newly made email addresses with the new url from an email account within the same server it delivers normally. For example.... sending [email protected] to [email protected] receives 550 error sending [email protected] to [email protected] works normal here is a report from wormly.com with server and account names changed for obvious reasons Resolving hostname... Connecting... • Exim, hot to route local mail to other adress

  I have setuped an Exim4 server on my debian wheezy server. This mail server only sends mail coming from localhost. The purpose is sending mail for my website. I have cron tasks and other services generating mails for root user. These mails are not stored in /var/mail as before, but sent by exim to [email protected]. I try to make exim send mails for root to [email protected] rather than [email protected]. I tried adding a .forward in /root with [email protected] as content. I tried also changing /etc/aliases with root: [email protected]. • Log Problem and bash script

  Hello Guys, I have 11 Debian servers running on rackspace cloud hosting. All running VHCS2 for hosting management. 1 server is used for application and 10 are used for only smtp. My question is regarding smtp servers. Each server hosted 1 domain. My problem is when my client use smtp there's a log created in this directory /var/log/ but within 24 hours drives are full and server refuse all smtp connections. Then I deleted the logs and ran following command to check the disk space. df -h but it shows hdd still full and server is still refusing the smtp connections. Then I ran following command to see the truth du --max-depth=1 -h It shows the truth. The real disk space used. Then I rebooted the server and now server working fine. But after few hours same situation happened. Then I created the following script. #!/bin/sh rm -fr /var/log/* rm -fr /var/log/apache2/*.log rm -fr /var/log/apache2/*.log.* rm -fr /var/log/apache2/users/* rm -fr /var/log/apache2/backup/* reboot It worked for days but after that logs are again filling the hdd. Now I want the following solutions. If anybody can help me. When I delete files from server hdd will free up without rebooting Log should be in specific range. Like a specific size of file where old data overwrite with new data

• Overwriting TFS Web Services

  In this blog I will share a technique I used to intercept TFS Web Services calls. This technique is a very invasive one and requires you to overwrite default TFS Web Services behavior. I only recommend taking such an approach when other means of TFS extensibility fail to provide the same functionality (this is not a supported TFS extensibility point). For instance, intercepting and aborting a Work Item change operation could be implemented using this approach (consider TFS Subscribers functionality before taking this approach, check Martin’s post about subscribers). So let’s get started. The technique consists in versioning TFS Web Services .asmx service classes. If you look into TFS’s ASMX services you will notice that versioning is supported by creating a class hierarchy between different product versions. For instance, let’s take the Work Item management service .asmx. • How far should one take e-mail address validation?

  I'm wondering how far people should take the validation of e-mail address. My field is primarily web-development, but this applies anywhere. I've seen a few approaches: simply checking if there is an "@" present, which is dead simply but of course not that reliable. a more complex regex test for standard e-mail formats a full regex against RFC 2822 - the problem with this is that often an e-mail address might be valid but it is probably not what the user meant DNS validation SMTP validation As many people might know (but many don't), e-mail addresses can have a lot of strange variation that most people don't usually consider (see RFC 2822 3.4.1), but you have to think about the goals of your validation: are you simply trying to ensure that an e-mail address can be sent to an address, or that it is what the user probably meant to put in (which is unlikely in a lot of the more obscure cases of otherwise 'valid' addresses). An option I've considered is simply giving a warning with a more esoteric address but still allowing the request to go through, but this does add more complexity to a form and most users are likely to be confused. While DNS validation / SMTP validation seem like no-brainers, I foresee problems where the DNS server/SMTP server is temporarily down and a user is unable to register somewhere, or the user's SMTP server doesn't support the required features. How might some experienced developers out here handle this? Are there any other approaches than the ones I've listed? Edit: I completely forgot the most obvious of all, sending a confirmation e-mail! Thanks to answerers for pointing that one out. Yes, this one is pretty foolproof, but it does require extra hassle on the part of everyone involved. The user has to fetch some e-mail, and the developer needs to remember user data before they're even confirmed as valid.

  I am trying to write a simple mail sender class that would receive a bunch of arguments and using those will send an email out using our Exchange 2010 server. While authentication etc. seem to work fine, I am getting the following exception when the code is actually trying to send the email (I think). I have ensured that the authentication is working and I get a transport back from the session, but still it fails. Could anyone shed some like on what I am doing wrong or missing? Thanks.
