• Using DockPanel Suite's XML saving with My.Settings

  In vb.net, how can I use SaveAsXML and LoadFromXML (DockPanel Suite functions) with My.Settings? I know there is a way to save it to a stream, but I don't know enough about System.IO to do this. DockPanel Suite: http://sourceforge.net/projects/dockpanelsuite/ I would very much prefer to store configuration using My.Settings instead of as an XML file. Thanks for the help! EDIT: Since the only person to answer so far has since deleted their answer, I feel I should explain further: Those two methods can both accept a stream object, but I have not used System.IO enough to know how to properly initialize a stream, let alone get a string out of a stream. • It is possible to override a plugin's Controller from another plugin?

  I'm developing a plugin (MyPlugin) which combines some security functions to use it as a standard plugin for my next Grails application. It integrates the Spring-Security-Core and Spring-Security-UI plugins, and by its installation all dependencies should be installed automatically by adding the dependencies in the BuildConfig like: plugins { compile: ...} So far everything works fine, but in MyPlugin I'm changing the behaviour of the Spring-Security-UI plugin (password encoding in User Domain), by overwriting the UserController. Executing MyPlugin leads to the expected behaviour and new Users are created using the correct Controller. However, when installing MyPlugin in another Grails application, this behaviour fails and the original UserController of the Spring-Security-Ui plugin is used. I tried to solve this by configuring the dependsOn and loadAfter properties in the GrailsPlugin file, but without any success. Is it possible to fix this? Or is it only possible to overwrite behaviour/controllers in the main application?

• CUDA: How to reuse kernels in multiple files (for unit testing)

  How can I go about reusing the same kernel without getting fatal linking errors due to defining the symbol multiple times In Visual Studio I get "fatal error LNK1169: one or more multiply defined symbols found" My current structure is as follows: Interface.h has an extern interface to a C function: myCfunction() (ala the C++ integration SDK example) Kernel.cu contains the actual __global__ kernels and is NOT included in the build: __global__ my_kernel() Wrapper.cu inlcudes Kernel.cu and Interface.h and calls my_kernel<<<...>>> This all works fine. But if I add another C function in another file which also includes Kernel.cu and uses those kernels, I get the errors. So how can I reuse the kernels in Kernel.cu among many C functions in different files. The purpose of this by the way is unit testing, and integrating my kernels with CPP unit, if there is no way to reuse kernels (there must be!) then other suggestions for unit testing kernels within my existing CPP unit framework would be appreciate. • odd problem with jni interacting with dll's - not sure why a change to gc ergonomics fixes it

  We were having a problem with our Tomcat jvm blowing up and giving us an hs_* dump at random times but always in the same spot, that wasn't very informative other than saying we had an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION Commenting out various parts of the java that called particular jni functions just made it blow consistently in another spot. By changing our jvm options from: set PAF_OPTS=-Xms1024m -Xmx32000m -server -XX:+UseParallelGC -XX:+UseParallelOldGC -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+UseCompressedOops -Djava.library.path="%CATALINA_HOME%"\jni -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote TO set PAF_OPTS=-Xms1024m -Xmx32000m -server -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+UseCompressedOops -Djava.library.path="%CATALINA_HOME%"\jni -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote The problem went away. The solution does not give me a warm and fuzzy however and am wondering anyone might understand what's going on under the covers here. Environment: jdk1.6, 64 bit OS and Java, Tomcat, Windows

• Building an XML editor in java and RichFaces

  Hello I'm building an XML editor using the above technologies. In essence, I want to read in a whole XML file to a java object, and refer using this object to each element in the XML node tree (grouped into entries) to display the content locked, have separate padlocks for the user to click to 'unlock' an entry allow overwriting of the data, and to submit this entry. 'Add entry', 'Duplicate entry', 'Delete entry' are also functions I'd like to add. I already use dom4j and XPath to access areas of the XML file so some of the work in theory is already done. Given the above, I was going to use these two together with inplaceInputs to allow the user to edit the XML and JSF validators to check the data coming in. Is this the best way to approach this problem, or is there a more straightforward route than XPathing a whole record? I started looking at jaxb but I'm new at java and jsf but I've got the feeling I won't be by the end.. Thanks

• onload Event in embedded SVG not calling function in attached script. Scope Issue?

  Hi So I've got an XHTML page with a script - not inline > <script type="text/javascript" > src="../global/js/scripts.js"></script> and an embedded (I tried embed and object, same behavior) SVG document with a onload="CheckIfLoaded(evt)" attribute. The problem is firefox doesn't call the CheckIfLoaded() function in scripts.js. Firebug gives me "CheckIfLoaded() is not defined" with no reference to any line numbers. I can't find any information regarding the scope of javascript functions with respect to embedded content. Curiously, it works fine in IE. I could of course add a reference to the script into the SVG file as well but I believe that will result in the client downloading the scripts file twice and in addition I have 1000+ svg files and I'd really rather not add one line to all of them, although I suppose I could write a batch file or whatever if I have to.   OpenSSL documents state that it can safely be used in multi-threaded applications provided that at least two callback functions are set, locking_function and threadid_func.... I've written programs which use OpenSSL API. Moreover, I know how to use pthreads. However, the OpenSSL documents are written in the form of a manual, and I can't see a step-by-step guide on what I have to do when using OpenSSL in a multi-threaded app. Is there a tutorial on using OpenSSL with pthreads? (I searched the web, but no satisfactory result appeared.) PS: I'm working in Debian Lenny & Ubuntu Lucid/Maverick. PS2: OpenSSL includes a sample, but it's far too complicated to start with.

• How to map old paths to Drupal paths

  I'm converting a Wordpress blog to Drupal and need to map the WP paths to the new Drupal ones. What's the best practice for doing this? There are only around a hundred pages to map. I've been experimenting with the URL Alter module, which provides an alternative to messing with custom_url_rewrite functions settings.php but keep getting 404. Waiting to hear back from the module maintainer if this is what the module is intended for. In the meantime I am wondering how others do this? Should I be using .htaccess?

• Traversing Scheme function as a list

  Isn't it possible to treat functions in Scheme as any other list? Basically, what I want do to is something like this: (define (foo) "hello") (cdr foo) ; or similar, should return the list ((foo) "hello") I've found a similar discussion about this, and I feel a bit disappointed if this is not possible with Scheme. If so, why is this impossible? Is it possible in other lisps? EDIT: Changed (cdr 'foo) to (cdr foo) -- it was misleading. I'm asking, why can't I access a function as a list?

  Hello, I need to InterOp Win32 code (unmanaged Win32 DLL's and Exe) completely with .NET. I need to call Win32 unmanaged code(DLL exported functions) at runtime i.e (knowing the types of data types in Win32 signatures and need to pass data according to that type at runtime). This is 100% possible in case of COM. You can convert COM unmanaged code to managed assemblies using tlbimp.exe and use now reflection API to work with those managed types(actual were unmanaged types now converted managed using tlbimp). But same functionality I need to get in terms of Win32(i.e) in .NET framework. How?? I know MS provided Export table reading API ..but I couldn't find exact API for InterOp of Win32 unmanaged code Regards

• How can I bind a winforms Opacity to a TrackBar (slider)

  I've got a winform with a BindingSource that has an int property named Opacity in its DataSource. I also have a TrackBar on the winform that I want to use to control the Opacity of the winform. I've bound the Value property on the TrackBar to the Opacity and that functions just fine, sliding the TrackBar will change the variable from TrackBar.Minimum (0) to TrackBar.Maximum (1). I've also bound the Opacity property of the winform to this value, however, since the TrackBar's values only go from Minimum to Maximum in +/-1 rather than +/- .1 or so (like Opacity does), it doesn't properly fade the winform. Instead, 0 will turn it opaque and 1 will turn it fully visible. I need a way to work within the architecture described above, but get the TrackBar to change its value from 0 to 1 in defined increments smaller than 1.

  Hello, i want to print on the screen the informations about Top level windows under Linux. I use the xlib functions. I successfully recurse from the root window to print all the informations about all the element on display. But i need only the Top-Level window. I don't find any good way to filter. From wikipedia : The top-level windows are exactly the direct subwindows of the root window. With that definition , I have some windows like: gnome-session, seahorse-daemon,notify-osd or icons, on my list and i don't want them. I also find a function : XmuClientWindow, but i don't understand it's goal. Thanks to help me.

• Compile OpenSSL from source using Xilinx EDK

  I want to use openSSL functions in my xilinx C++ project. So i downloaded the source and tried to compile using the makefile. But unfortunately the linux box I was provided did not contained the required software (perl5, make, etc) to compile the source using makefile. So as the second option i tried to compile the source as a shared library. So i made a new project using existing openSSL source. But all the attempts were failed since it gave lots of errors including missing headers, unknown defines etc. If someone knows how to compile openssl as a shared library using Xilinx toolchains please help me. It would be really helpful if someone can provide the complete project which can be opened using Xilinx EDK. If better alternative exists to use openssl with xilinx toolchains please explain that also. Thanks in advance....

• EMail Signing (Outlook) Using Smartcard Minidriver [Windows]

  Hi I'm developing a Smart card Minidriver and I'm trying to Sign an Email using Outlook 2007. I have implemented all of the necessary functions in the minidriver. I'm able to create a "Smartcard User" certificate and save it and it's private key on the smartcard (using Microsoft Certificate Services via the Minidriver). When I try to sign an EMail via Outlook I'm getting Error Message (Internal Error), the last call to the minidriver is for ReadFile with "cmapfile" When I try to sign an EMail via Outlook with a difference non-smartcard certificate it's work fine. When I try to sign a Data using CryptoAPI (based on Windows SDK Sample) it's working fine. I'm using Windows 7. someone got any idea how to debug this issue? I tried to enable the CAPI2 eventlog, it don't give me any good information.

• Elisp performance on Windows and Linux

  I have the following dead simple elisp functions; the first removes the fill breaks from the current paragraph, and the second loops through the current document applying the first to each paragraph in turn, in effect removing all single line-breaks from the document. It runs fast on my low-spec Puppy Linux box using emacs 22.3 (10 seconds for 600 pages of Thomas Aquinas), but when I go to a powerful Windows XP machine with emacs 21.3, it takes almost an hour to do the same document. • Decode sparse json array to php array

  I can create a sparse php array (or map) using the command: $myarray = array(10=>'hi','test20'=>'howdy'); I want to serialize/deserialize this as JSON. I can serialize it using the command: $json = json_encode($myarray); which results in the string {"10":"hi","test20":"howdy"}. However, when I deserialize this and cast it to an array using the command: $mynewarray = (array)json_decode($json); I seem to lose any mappings with keys which were not valid php identifiers. That is, mynewarray has mapping 'test20'=>'howdy', but not 10=>'hi' nor '10'=>'hi'. Is there a way to preserve the numerical keys in a php map when converting to and back from json using the standard json_encode / json_decode functions?

• Objective C message dispatch mechanism

  I am just staring to play around with Objective C (writing toy iPhone apps) and I am curious about the underlying mechanism used to dispatch messages. I have a good understanding of how virtual functions in C++ are generally implemented and what the costs are relative to a static or non-virtual method call, but I don't have any background with Obj-C to know how messages are sent. Browsing around I found this loose benchmark and it mentions IMP cached messages being faster than virtual function calls, which are in turn faster than a standard message send. I am not trying to optimize anything, just get deeper understanding of how exactly the messages get dispatched. How are Obj-C messages dispatched? How do Instance Method Pointers get cached and can you (in general) tell by reading the code if a message will get cached? Are class methods essentially the same as a C function (or static class method in C++), or is there something more to them? I know some of these questions may be 'implementation dependent' but there is only one implementation that really counts.

(I can provide the makefile if it's relevant.) I can compile TestMe.cpp from a command-line with no problem: g++ TestMe.cpp -IC:\gtest-1.5.0\gtest-1.5.0\include -L../gtest/staticlib -lgtest -o TestMe.exe It runs as expected. However, I cannot get this to compile in Qt. My Qt project file, in the same directory: SOURCES += TestMe.cpp INCLUDEPATH += C:\gtest-1.5.0\gtest-1.5.0\include LIBS += -L../gtest/staticlib -lgtest This results in 17 "unresolved external symbol" errors related to gtest functions. I'm pulling my hair out here, as I'm sure it's something simple. Any ideas?

  Hi All, I am working on a project which involves reusing as well as migrating some of the existing MFC code to C#. The current code in MFC, creates some threads and uses ::PostthreadeMessage() and ON_THREAD_MESSAGE(msg,func) for inter thread asynchronous communication through messages. ::PostthreadeMessage() - sends a message to a particular thread id. ON_THREAD_MESSAGE(msg,func) - calls the function(func) when a message(msg) is received. Since i am not much aware of the threading interfaces in C#, i tried to search for similar API's in C#, but was not able to find any. It would be great, if somebody can help me in finding the appropriate functions for this purpose in C# Thanks, Harsha

• Calling CONTENT_SCRIPT JS From BROWSER_ACTION Popup HTML

  I'm working on a Google Chrome Extension and would like to get an HTML from within my popup HTML to call functions within my loaded javascript file. My popup document looks like this: <select id="values"> <option>Foo</option> <option>Bar</option> </select> And the contents of my scripts.js file follow: $(function(){ $("#values").change(function(){ alert("Foo"); }); }); This isn't doing what I expect though - alerting "Foo" anytime I change a value in my popup HTML. How can I get these two files to communicate with eachother? Or can they at all?

• Quaddratic Bezier Curve: Calculate Tangent

  Hello, I have have a quadratic bezier curve and I want to calculate the slope of the tangent in a given point. For example, let it be the middlepoint of the quadratic bezier curve, therefore t=0.5 (please see the link below for a picture of this). I've calculated the first derivation of the formula for the quadratic bezier curve, however I get 400 as value for the slope, though it should be 0. Maybe I'm using the first derivation in a wrong way? I know I could also calculate the tangents using trigonometric functions, however I'd like to do it using the first derivation, shouldn't this be possible? Thanks for any hint! For clarification / please note: I'm interested in a general way to get the slope in a arbitrary given point on a quadratic bezier curve, not only to get the tangent in the start- and end point.   While developing a PHP+JS web application we always try to separate big blocks of code into small modules/components, in order to make these last ones as much reusable as possible in other applications. Let's say we now have: the EcommerceApp (an ecommerce main application) a Server-file-mgr component (a component to view/manage file on server) a Mylib (a library of useful functions) a MailistApp (another main application to handle mail lists) ... EcommerceApp needs both Server-file-mgr component and Mylib to work Server-file-mgr needs Mylib to work MaillistApp needs both Server-file-mgr component and Mylib to work too. My idea is to simply structure the SVN project folder tree putting everything at the same level: trunk/EcommerceApp trunk/Server-file-mgr trunk/Mylib trunk/MaillistApp But in real life to make these apps to work the folder tree structure must be the following: EcommerceApp |_ Mylib |_ Server-file-mgr MaillistApp |_ Mylib |_ Server-file-mgr I mean Mylib and Server-file-mgr needs to be inside the EcommerceApp/MaillistApp folder. How would you then structure the SVN folder, as I did or in a different/better/smarter way???

• Using normalize-string XPath function from SQL XML query ?

  Hi, is it possible to run an SQL query, with an XPath "where" clause, and to trim trailing spaces before the comparison ? I have an SQL XML column, in which I have XML nodes with attributes which contain trailing spaces. I would like to find a given record, which has a specified attribute value - without the trailing spaces. When I try, I get... "There is no function '{http://www.w3.org/2004/07/xpath-functions}:normalize-space()'" I have tried the following (query 1 works, query 2 doesn't).
