  Hi, I'd like to paint some Bezier curves with the alpha channel that is changing during the curve painting. Right now I'm able to draw bezier paths, with a fixed alpha channel. What I'd like to do is to draw a single bezier curve that uses a certain value of the alpha channel for the first n points of the path another, alpha value for the subsequent m points and so on. The code I'm using for drawing bezier path is: CGContextSetStrokeColorWithColor(context, curva.color.CGColor); .... CGContextAddCurveToPoint(context, cp1.x, cp1.y, cp2.x, cp2.y, endPoint.x, endPoint.y); .... CGContextStrokePath(context); Is there a way to achieve what I'm describing? Many thanks, Giovanni

• Reformat a YouTube URL using jQuery

  I am using the YouTube Channel jQuery script to pull in data from a YouTube channel. Then I'm using an iFrame on the page to display the videos without leaving the site. The only problem is that the URLs the Channel plugin is pulling in don't quite work with my iFrame concept. They load the whole YouTube page instead of just the video. I figured out a workaround that basically I reformat the URL and tell it to display fullscreen and to autoplay will do what I would like it to do. The URLs are currently formatted like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxxxxxxxx&feature=youtube_gdata and I need them to be rewritten as http://www.youtube.com/v/xxxxxxxxx?fs=1&autoplay=1 I've seen a couple of similar topics here on SO, but given my limited jQuery and regex talents I wasn't able to get anything to work for my purposes.

• Remote JMX connection

  I'm trying to open a JMX connection to java application running on a remote machine. The application JVM is configured with the following options: com.sun.management.jmxremote com.sun.management.jmxremote.port=1088 com.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false com.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false I'm able to connect using localhost:1088 using jconsole or jvisualvm. But I'm not able to connect using xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1088 from a remote machine. There is no firewall between the servers, or on the OS. But to eliminate this possibility I telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 1088 and I think it connects, as the console screen turns blank. Both servers are Windows Server 2008 x64. Tried with 64-bit JVM and 32-bit, neither work.

• Getting "on the wire" Size of Messages in WCF

  While I'm making SOAP or REST invocations to WCF, I'd like to have the channel stack on either end (client and server) record the on-the-wire size of the data received. So I'm guessing I need to add a custom behavior to the channel stack on either side. That is, on the server side I'd record the IP-header advertised size that was received. On the client side I'd record the IP-header advertised size that was returned from the server. But this presupposes that this information is visible to a custom WCF behavior at the channel stack level. Perhaps it is only visible at the level of ASP.NET (at a layer beneath WCF)? In short, does anyone have any further insight on if and how this information is accessible? I must qualify that this "size" data will be collected in a production environment, as part of regular business logic calls. This question is related to my earlier bandwidth question.

• PHP + GD: imagetruecolortopalette not keeping transparency

  I am using GD to output an image that is a truecolor+alpha channel PNG file using imagepng just fine. However, I would like to have the ability to also output an ie6-compatible 256-color PNG as well. According to the official documentation for imagetruecolortopalette: The code has been modified to preserve as much alpha channel information as possible in the resulting palette, in addition to preserving colors as well as possible. However, I am finding that the results of this function do not properly preserve any transparency at all. I used this firefox image with text superimposed on top of it as a test, and all the function did was give me a white background and a weird dark blue border. I know that I can't hope to preserve the full alpha channel, but surely this function would at least pick up on the transparent background. Is there something I'm missing? Are there any alternative approaches that I can take?

• RMO on Windows 7 - The Specified module could not be found

  My machine: Windows XP (x86), VS2008, .net 3.5, sql server 2005, WinForms - App works fine. Production Machines: Windows 7 (x64), SQl Server 2005 Express - App Starts but throws exception Visual Studio Targeting x86 on setup project and RMO project. Visual Studio gives me a a couple warnings but I can still build: Unable to find dependency 'MICROSOFT.SQLSERVER.MANAGEMENT.SQLPARSER' (Signature='89845DCD8080CC91' Version='10.0.0.0') of assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo.dll' Unable to find dependency 'MICROSOFT.SQLSERVER.MANAGEMENT.SQLPARSER' (Signature='89845DCD8080CC91' Version='10.0.0.0') of assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.SmoMetadataProvider.dll' This is a simple RMO (Replication Management Objects) app that initiates a pull subscription in SQL Server 2005 and displays status. Works fine on my machine, but fails on the production machine. I'm using a setup project to install the app on the production machine, but I think I'm missing a dependency somewhere, but I can't figure it out. On the production machine the app starts fine, but when I try to synch the subscription i get: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The Specified module could not be found. (Exception from HResult: 0x8007007E)

  I am trying to monitor an application available on remote machine using VisualVM & Visual GC. I have enabled the jmxremote on the remote side as follows: -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote, -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=8888, -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false, -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false While monitoring through VisualVM, everything runs fine but VisualGC doesn't displays any stats (getting Not Supported for this JVM error). While tried to monitor one local application, VisualGC runs fine... Got success with the remote app once started jstad on the remote jvm. Is this a known issue with VisualGC...? • Cannot Generate ParameterSetMetadata While Programmatically Creating A Parameter Block

  I'm trying to programmatically create a parameter block for a function ( along the lines of this blog post ). I'm starting with a CommandMetadata object (from an existing function). I can create the ParameterMetadata object and set things like the ParameterType, the name, as well as some attributes. The problem I'm running into is that when I use the GetParamBlock method of the ProxyCommand class, none of my attributes that I set in the Attributes collection of the ParameterMetadata are generated. The problem this causes is that when the GetParamBlock is called, the new parameter is not annotated with the appropriate Parameter attribute.   I'm trying to parse a rss feed that looks like this for the attribute "date": <rss version="2.0"> <channel> <item> <y:c date="AA"></y:c> </item> </channel> </rss> I tried several different versions of this: (rssFeed contains the RSS data) println(((rssFeed \\ "channel" \\ "item" \ "y:c" \"date").toString)) But nothing seems to work. What am I missing? Any help would really be appreciated!

• EntityManager injection works in JBoss 7.1.1 but not WebSphere 7

  I've built an EJB that will manage my database access. I'm building a web app around it that uses Struts 2. The problem I'm having is when I deploy the ear, the EntityManager doesn't get injected into my service class (and winds up null and results in NullPointerExceptions). The weird thing is, it works on JBoss 7.1.1 but not on WebSphere 7. You'll notice that Struts doesn't inject the EJB, so I've got some intercepter code that does that. My current working theory right now is that the WS7 container can't inject the EntityManager because of Struts for some unknown reason. My next step is to try Spring next, but I'd really like to get this to work if possible. I've spent a few days searching and trying various things and haven't had any luck. I figured I'd give this a shot. • PHP suddenly failed after IIS update

  All my application pools were stopped this morning after I got to work. I can restart them, but when I try to load the website the app pool crashes again. Update: I've looked in the GAC as the error below suggests and it seems that the file is not there. How do I get it back? Update 2: I found a further error in the event log saying The Module name FastCgiModule path C:\WINDOWS\System32\inetsrv\iisfcgi.dll returned an error from registration. The data is the error. So following the information from here http://forums.iis.net/t/1153937.aspx I removed CGI and my sites are working again. This has fixed the initial problem, but now I don't have FastCGI so I'm fairly sure that PHP will no longer be working (I don't have any PHP at the moment to test).
