    I'm developing a simple multi-player puzzle game in Java. Both players should be able to view the same game board on his own computer. Then, when one player makes an action in the game (ex. drags an object onto a coordinate space), the game's view should update automatically on the other computer's game screen. I'd like all this to happen over the internet, not requiring both computers to be on the same LAN connection. If I need to use SQL/PHP to accomplish this, I'm unsure how to design the database to accomplish something as simple as the following: Player A drags element onscreen Game sends coordinates of element to database/server Player B's computer detects a change to an item in the database Player B's computer grabs the coordinates of Player A's item Player B's machine draws onscreen elements at the received coordinates Could somebody point me in the right direction?

  • App freezing after lunch without any Error on Iphone Simulator?

    HI.I am using CoreData on my UITable to show some records.It works when I first run.But if I run my app on simulator second time it shows up with data but then it stops.Sometimes it quits from app or it only froze and i cant click on table or tab bar.   • NSFetchedResultsController not updating UITableView's section indexes

    I am populating a UITableViewController with an NSFetchedResultsController with results creating sections that populate section headers and a section index. I am using the following method to populate the section index: - (NSArray *)sectionIndexTitlesForTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return [fetchedResultsController_ sectionIndexTitles]; } and now I've run into a problem. When I add a new element to the NSManagedObjectContext associated with the NSFetchedResultsController, the new element is saved and appropriately displayed as a cell in the UITableView ... except for one thing. If the new element creates a new SECTION, the new section index does not show up in the right hand margin unless I pop the UINavigationController's stack and reload the UITableViewController. I have conformed to the NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate's interface and manually invoke [self.tableView reloadSectionIndexTitles]; at the end of both these delegate methods: controller:didChangeSection... controller:didChangeObject... and while I can debug and trace the execution into the methods and see the reload call invoked, the UITableView's section index never reflects the section changes. Again, the data shows up - new sections are physically visible (or removed) in the UITableView but the section indexes are not updated. Am I missing something?

  • Debugging SIGABRT within NSManagedObjectContext -save:

    From inside NSManagedObjectContext -save: I am getting this message: Assertion failed: (_Unwind_SjLj_Resume() can't return), function _Unwind_SjLj_Resume, file /SourceCache/libunwind/libunwind-24.1/src/Unwind-sjlj.c, line 326. Program received signal: “SIGABRT”. warning: Unable to read symbols for /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/4.2.1 (8C148)/Symbols/Developer/usr/lib/libXcodeDebuggerSupport.dylib (file not found). This happens when I delete an Experiment object with to-many with Run which has to-many with Sample which has to-one with Data. Experiment also has to-many with Page which has to-many with Display which has to-many to Run. I mention this to point out the cyclical nature of the graph. Here is a simplified graph of model: I had been using Delete Rules but have now switched to "No Action" delete rules in combination with -prepareForDeletion methods for all of these classes. This change made no difference. In both cases, the error message is the same. Interestingly, when I relaunch the app, all the objects that were marked for deletion have been deleted. Also, if an Experiment has no Run objects, then deletion works without incidence. For that matter, deleting a single Run from an Experiment also works. I am hoping that someone has seen something like this and can offer advice on what would cause this. Or, if someone has advice on how to get libXcodeDebuggerSupport.dylib for iOS 4.2.1, that might also be helpful. Update: I followed advice found here and was able to get Xcode to find libXcodeDebuggerSupport.dylib for iOS 4.2.1. But this did not help at all in diagnosing problem - which persists.

    Hi.I am making an app that it takes photos from web site for some Username and shows it on UITable with username then when clicking user name it shows photos for this user and then clicking to name of photo it shows full screen photo. My question is I am using NSData to get photos from internet.Am I have to save also those data to CoreDAta? I am using like when pressing name of user it again creates NSData and downloads photos from internet and shows them on UTable. And it takes time. What is good approach? and How can save this images to CoreDAta?   • iPhone OS: Why is my managedModelObject not complying with Key Value Coding?

    Ok so I'm trying to build this stat tracker for my app and I have built a data model object called statTracker that keeps track of all the stuff I want it to.   • Handle row deletion in UITableViewController

    Hello, I hava a UINavigationController. The first level is a UITableViewController, the second level just shows details on one of the items of the table view. In this detail view, I can delete the item. It deletes the underlying managed object. When I pop back to the view, I have a crash. I understand why, it's because I didn't update the cached array that contains the data. I looked at several tutorials and I don't exactly understand how am I supposed to handle deletion. Maybe I don't understand exactly where I should fetch the objects in the model. Should I do a query for every cellForRowAtIndexPath and take the item in the result at position indexPath.row? It doesn't look efficient. Should I check for changes somewhere and recache the whole query in an array. I would think CoreData would provide something more natural but I couldn't find it so far. Thanks in advance.

Resetting the simulator solved all my troubles before, and I've gone on to complete my App. I now have the exact same problem when installing the app onto my iPhone device. (I've so far tried regular app deletion, deleting and then holding home and power for a reboot, cursing at and threatening the app while running it... everything) 2) How do I prevent this happening when my application is in the App store, and I for some reason decide that I want to add another entity to the store, or another attribute to the existing entities? is there an "if x doesn't exist then create it" method?

    After several hours/days of searching and diving into example projects i've concluded that I need to just ask. I know i'm missing something... I just don't know what. The goal is to eventually allow multiple instances of this view's "library" filtered programmatically with a predicate. For now i'm just trying to have it display all of the rows for the "Asset" entity. Addition: If I create the NSArrayController in IB and then try to log [library arrangedObjects] or manually set the data source for assetsView I get the same empty results. I have a hierarchy of UITableViewControllers that use NSFetchedResultsController to populate the table, and when a particular row is selected, the detail view is shown. UITableView (MyMainEntity) UITableView (MyEntity) UITableView (MyEntity) detail view Both MyMainEntity UITableView and MyEntity UITableView use NSFetchedResultsController to show the records. Sometimes it crashes when i'm scrolling the tableView, and sometimes it crashes when i try to open the detail view. I can navigate to the MyEntity detail view multiple times before application crashes. What does this error mean? and how can i fix it!?

    I am trying to manage a drill-down list of data. I've got an entity, Contact, that has a to-many relationship with another entity, Rule. In my root view controller, I use a fetched results controller to manage and display the list of Contacts. When a Contact is tapped, I push a new view controller onto the stack with a list of the Contact's Rules. I have not been able to figure out how to use a second fetched results controller to display the Rules, so I'm using the following: // create a set of the contact's rules rules = [NSMutableSet set]; rules = [self.contact mutableSetValueForKey:@"rule"]; // create an array of rules from the set arrayOfRules = [NSMutableArray arrayWithCapacity:[rules count]]; for (id oneObject in rules) [arrayOfRules addObject:oneObject]; // sort the array of rules NSSortDescriptor *descriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"phoneLabel" ascending:YES]; [arrayOfRules sortUsingDescriptors:[NSArray arrayWithObject:descriptor]]; [descriptor release]; I create a set of Rules, then use that to create an array of Rules for sorting. I then use these two collections to populate the grouped table view. All of this appears to be working correctly. Here's my problem: There are several different actions a user can take in this view, and most of them require that I know which Rule was tapped. But I can't figure out how to get that. For instance, say a user wants to delete a Rule. It seems to me the proper approach is something like... [rules removeObject:ruleObjectToBeRemoved] ...but I can't figure out how to specifiy ruleObjectToBeRemoved. I hope all of this makes sense. As usual, thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.
