• Hiera datatypes wont load in Puppet

  I have spent a couple of days on this, followed the instructions on http://downloads.puppetlabs.com/docs/puppetmanual.pdf and even the Puppet Training Advanced Puppet manual. When I run a test against it, the results always come back as 'nil' and Im not sure why. I am running Puppet 3.6.1 Community Edition, with Hiera 1.2.1 on SLES 11. • Supervisord doesn't stop nginx process

  I'm using Supervisor a lot, and in this project I have an nginx process managed by Supervisord. Still, stopping it will fail: supervisorctl stop nginx Will not give any answer, but the process will continue. Any idea what? This is on OS X Darwin, with Supervisor 3.0a9 and nginx 0.7.65.

• Exchange Connector Won't Send to External Domains

  I'm a developer trying to get my .Net application to send emails out through our Exchange server. I'm not an Exchange expert so I'll qualify that up front!! We've set up a receive Connector in Exchange that has the following properties: Network: allows all IP addresses via port 25. Authentication: Transport Layer Security and Externally Secured checkboxes are checked. Permission Groups: Anonymous Users and Exchange Servers checkboxes are checked. But, when I run this Powershell statement right on our Exchange server it works when I send to a local domain address but when I try to send to a remote domain it fails. WORKS: C:\Windows\system32Send-Mailmessage -To [email protected] -From [email protected] -Subject testing -Body testing -SmtpServer OURSERVER (BTW: my value for OURSERVER=boxname.domainname.local. This is the same fully-qualified name that shows up in our Exchange Management Shell when I launch it). • How can I cause Task Scheduler to "fail" if a dialog box returns a certain result?

  I'm working on a VBScript to do a weekly reboot of all machines on our network. I want to run this script via Task Scheduler. The script runs at 3:00 AM, but there is a small chance that users may still be on the network at that time, and I need to give them the option to terminate the reboot. If they do so, I would like the reboot to occur the next night at 3:00 AM. I've set Task Scheduler up to repeat in this way. So far, so good. The problem is that if the user selects "Cancel" in my script, the Task Scheduler does not see my task as failed, and won't run it again the next night. Any ideas? Can I pass an errorcode to task scheduler or otherwise abort the task via VBScript? • Mac OS X duplex printing problem: one- vs. multi-paged documents

  I like to print on pre-printed stationery using the Preview.app and a duplex-capable HP Color Laserjet 4700 (PostScript) printer. The print dialog handles one and two-paged documents differently: the paper needs to be placed differently into the tray if the document contains one page versus when it contains two pages. This is not obvious when printing on plain paper but becomes obvious when front and reverse side of sheets are marked. Otherwise the first page would end up on the reverse side of the first sheet. I believe the problem is caused by the printer driver setting duplex printing to false (using the PostScript setpagedevice operator) when emitting a single-page document versus keeping it set to true when emitting multi-page documents. All this despite that duplex printing is always specified in the printer dialog. When printing a single-sided document, duplex=true and duplex=false seem to make a difference with respect which side of a sheet gets printed on. It would be also helpful if others could confirm the problem actually exists. I suspect this problem is not limited to specific printers. I'm on OS X 10.6 and I checked two different HP printers.

• Enabling JMX for proxool with tomcat

  I am trying to get proxool's MBeans available so that I can see/manipulate them with jconsole. I have jconsole working, but I don't see anything related to proxool. The system is using Sun Java 1.5.0_17 (I know, I know... I'm working with the developers to upgrade). • .tex file remains in use by process when batch file is triggered by .Rnw Sweave processing.

  This is a pretty specialized question. I'm using the Eclipse IDE in a Windows XP environment with the StatET plug-in so I can write R code as an R/Sweave document. This produces a .tex file that is then post processed by pdflatex.exe. When I create the file as normal everything works great (except maybe my file named russfnc2.Rnw seems to result in russfnc.pdf even though pdflatex.exe on the console window correctly says that the output is being writen to russfnc2.pdf). The big problem is when I trigger a batch file from within my Rnw code. My goal here is to spawn a side process that waits for the PDF to be made and uploads it to the server. So the Rnw contains: if(file.exists("rsp.finalize.bat")) {system("rsp.finalize.bat",wait=FALSE,invisible=FALSE)} The batch file calls Rterm.exe to run a script: setwd("C:/theprojectdirectory") while(!file.exists("russfnc.pdf")) { Sys.sleep(1) } Sys.sleep(60) At the end of that script, I use a shell call to launch psftp.exe and upload the files. All of this works fine, when I use my Eclipse profile to trigger Sweave... that is unless I have that batch file at the end of the .Rnw. When it is located there, I get the error message pdflatex.exe: Permission denied: c:\thepath\thetexfile.tex. After that, the .tex file (as far as XP is concerned) is in use by another process and I have to reboot in order to delete it (and, of course, the pdf is not made). If I manually trigger the batch file after pdflatex.exe has done its things, everything works fine. How can I make this work correctly using the tools I'm familiar with vis., R and Dos-style batch files? I'm not sure if this is a SuperUser question or a StackOverflow question, so I'm starting here.

  I have a .net4 web application running in a 64 bits 2008 server. I can only get it to run when I set the app pool to Enable 32-bits application to true. All dlls are compiled for .net4 (verified with corflags.exe). How can I figure out why Enable 32-bit is required?   This question has come up quite a lot (really a lot), but I'm finding the answers to be generally incomplete. The general question is "Why does/doesn't my job get killed when I exit/kill ssh?", and here's what I've found. The first question is: How general is the following information? The following seems to be true for modern Debian linux, but I am missing some bits; and what do others need to know? All child processes, backgrounded or not of a shell opened over an ssh connection are killed with SIGHUP when the ssh connection is closed only if the huponexit option is set: run shopt huponexit to see if this is true. If huponexit is true, then you can use nohup or disown to dissociate the process from the shell so it does not get killed when you exit. If huponexit is false, which is the default on at least some linuxes these days, then backgrounded jobs will not be killed on normal logout. But even if huponexit is false, then if the ssh connection gets killed, or drops (different than normal logout), then backgrounded processes will still get killed. This can be avoided by disown or nohup as in (2). There is some distinction between (a) processes whose parent process is the terminal and (b) processes that have stdin, stdout, or stderr connected to the terminal. I don't know what happens to processes that are (a) and not (b), or vice versa. Final question: How can I avoid behavior (3)? In other words, by default in Debian backgrounded processes run along merrily by themselves after logout but not after the ssh connection is killed. I'd like the same thing to happen to processes regardless of whether the connection was closed normally or killed. Or, is this a bad idea?

The formula works like this: Check if there is content in 1st. If yes, copy it. If no, find out how many entries there are in 1st in total. (This is done by using the COUNTA function on the whole B column in 1st and subtracting the number of non-empty cells above the actual case data.) Use this information together with the current cells's number to find out the location of the cell that has to be copied from 2nd. Create the address of the cell and use the ISBLANK function on the INDIRECT function with that address to check if the cell is empty. If it is not, use the INDIRECT function again to display it. If it is empty, just display an empty string. Now this works fine when I have only 2 sheets. But lets say I want to include a third and fourth sheet (name as 3rd and 4th respectively), then what and should I put the formula for this in the formula above? There are actually 31 sheets but if I know how to add 3rd and 4th sheet in the formula, then I can figure out how to do the rest. Thanks

• Exchange 2010 OWA- Open Other User Mailbox

  I just started working for this small firm (30 people) a little bit ago, replacing their System Admin. First thing I noticed was Exchange Server 2010 was WAY out of date. Believe it or not they did not have SP1 installed. So after I installed and configured Exchange 2010 SP3 and redirected OWA I noticed something in OWA. I could add ANYONE's User Mailbox WITHOUT giving mailbox premission. I created a couple test users, same thing. I even had another employee provide me access to their OWA and they could open anyone's Inbox without granting permission. I don't want to play the blame game, but I was SHOCKED that this was going on. Luckly being such a small company I'll be able to cover this mistake that I did not create, BUT HOW? My guess is that I need to find out where the past System Admin went wrong in providing Full Access Permission? Or could this be a Auto-Mapping issue? • SQL Server 2008 Replication: Snap Shot Agent timing out on a specific table

  Hi all, I am going through the process of setting up a transactional replication on my set up. However, I am unable to generate a full snap shot of my database. I keep getting stuck at the same particular point of the process. From snapshot agent: [46%] The process is running and is waiting for a response from the server Other sources have mentioned increasing the timeout period but I do not think this is the problem as this occurs at around the 10 min mark, way within the default value of 1800s. So, I removed that article/table from the snapshot, and lo and behold, it works. So I was looking at the Schema of the table and in my identity column, the NOT FOR REPLICATION was set to TRUE. All my other tables have it set to FALSE. Could this be the source of the error? Also, I tried changing this to false via the GUI but got received a timeout error. Is there a script that allows me to change this? Thanks all.

• How do I set up an email server that automatically maintains a list of previous recipients?

  I want to set up an email server with the following characteristics. What software (besides bogofilter and clamav that I'm naming) should I use and what HOWTOs should I read? The server should run some flavor of Linux that's as low-maintenance as possible and self-updates for security patches in a timely fashion. (Debian stable?) When email is sent, all the recipients are stored in the list of previous recipients maintained by the server. Scan incoming messages with clamav and treat as spam if it contains viruses. When email arrives (if it passed clamav), if the sender is on the list of previous recipients, bypass spam filter. If the List-Id header names a mailing list on a manually maintained list of known-clean mailing lists, bypass spam filter and deliver into a mailbox depending on the mailing list name. Email that wasn't from previous recipients, manually white listed domains or mailing lists gets filtered by bogofilter. Spam goes into a spam mailbox. Email considered to be ham should automatically be fed to bogofilter training as ham. Email considered to be spam (incl. messages with viruses) should be automatically fed to bogofilter training as spam. There should be mailboxes for false ham and false spam that an IMAP client can move email into so that the server retrains bogofilter appropriately. Email sending requires SMTP over SSL. Email reading requires IMAPS. Should I also want to use SpamAssassin in addition to bogofilter?

• Remote access to phpmyadmin from computer belongs to same LAN

  OK... I solved it. It is because I have not configured the httpd.conf to allow the centos listen port 80 and 8080. Listen 80 Listen 8080 I have setup the myphpadmin on my CentOS 6.4 recently. I can access and login to the myphpadmin on my localhost. However, when I type http://[hostipaddr]/phpmyadmin on my other computer in the same LAN with the CentOS, the browser simply cannot access the page. Below are some of the current configuration. Stop When I press start, I would like it to record the current time with this format: (dd/mm/yy hh:nn:ss:) in a specific column. Then when I press the Stop Button I would like it to record the time again in the cell next to it. Then if I press start Again I would like it to record below the first cells current record. • IIS Request Filtering Rule for User Agent

  I'm trying to block requests from a certain bot. I've added a request filtering rule, but I know it is still hitting the site because it shows up in Google Analytics. But the bot traffic is still showing up in my analytics. What am I missing?

• How can I make my Super keys (Windows Key) behave more like Ctrl/Alt/Shift in Linux

  After using the Ctrl + "arrow keys" for 13 years to switch virtual desktops in X windows, I've been convinced recently to change to using the Super keys instead (the windows key and the context menu key, which I've remapped). This all works fine for the most part. However, something is still picking up the key events that these keys are sending as if they are a normal alphanumeric like key. For example, I first noticed this in Google Docs spreadsheet that if I press the windows key alone over top of a cell, that it starts editing that cell. It doesn't insert anything, it just sends a key event that Firefox sees and starts editing the cell. This caused problems on a collaborative document I was working on as the way Google docs works, it led to me accidentally erasing the data in a few fields before I realised what was going on. I like using the super keys, but I want them to behave more like a Ctrl or Alt key does in that its a modifier key and doesn't send anything until a second key is pressed. My setup is the following: Ubuntu 10.10 XFCE 4 Microsoft Natural Ergo 4000 keyboard (with the logo scratched out) The following is my .Xmodmap file: remove Lock = Caps_Lock keycode 66 = Escape !   Ok I will try to explain my issue effectively. I am making a GPA sheet in which the value out of 100 is computer in to a GPA value and then in to a letter. However here comes the problem.... I have tried to use the outcome in J6 to do Vlookup or another if formula, however excel does not seem to recognize the value in J6. For example: =VLOOKUP(j6,B3:C15,2,FALSE)... this returns N/A however if I enter =VLOOKUP(3.25,B3:C15,2,FALSE) it gives me what im looking for. It seems that excel will not register the outcome of my formula as a number. What can I do please?

• Plesk command working in manual script, not in cronjob

  Hi, In order to install a hosting plan, I use Plesk's commands in SSH as specified in their official guide. When typed directly in SSH (Putty), it works perfectly. The line is as follows with obviously values hard coded when in CLI: /usr/local/psa/bin/domain --create '.$url.' -owner mynamehere -ip '.IP_SERVER_PLESK.' -status enabled -hosting true -hst_type phys -login '.$ftp_user.' -passwd '.$ftp_pw.' -www false -php true -php_safe_mode false -hard_quota 100M I then put that request in a php script that does other things after hosting is installed. Now for the weird part: when calling that script from CLI it also works fine, I do a ./myscript.php and it installs the hosting, then sends emails etc. However after I create a cronjob to have that same script called regularly, then the Plesk command fails. The cronjob is started in Plesk as */15 * * * * /usr/bin/php /home/scripts/myscript.php and it works fine for everything BUT the Plesk hosting install, that returns "Unable to read Control Panel configuration file" and therefore does not install the domain hosting. Still this is the same script that I call manually ! On that server are the PHP used to call a cronjob and the one used in CLI different ? What do I miss, help greatly appreciated ! Regards.

• QuickReport throws "There Is No Default Printer Currently Selected" Exception

  I have created a Delphi Service which prints TQuickReports. Everything works fine if compiled and run as a Windows Application. But when converted to operate as a service trying to create a form containing a TQuickRep component throws the exception. This service runs fine on many other boxes but not this one in particular. Here are some details: Using QuickReport version 4.07 Box is a Windows Server 2008 operating system. Using Delphi 2007 Printer.Printers.Count is returning a positive value. In fact I can list out all of the printers. I have tried running the service both using Local System Account and Logged on as an Admin.
