• How can I load .obj files in the Soya3D engine?

  I recently just found soya3d. I want to import .obj files, but it seems to only accept .data files. How can I import .obj files? • What's an acceptable "Avg. Page Load Time"?

  Is there any industry rule of thumb for what's considered an unacceptable load time v. an OK one v. a blistering fast one? We're just reviewing some Google Analytics data and getting 0.74 Avg. Page Load Time reported. I guess that's OK. However it would be good if some meatier comparison data were available, or a blog post, or somewhere where there's some analysis of what speeds are generally being achieved by various kinds of sites. Any useful links to help someone interpret these speeds? If you Google it you just get a lot of results dealing with how to improve your speed. We're not at that stage yet.

• Testing form submission with Cucumber

  I wrote a simple Cuke feature for a form on a demo site. The feature looks like this. Given I am on the home page When I set the "Start Date" to "2010-10-25" And I set the "End Date" to "2011-1-3" And I press the "Go" button Then I should see "Cake Shop" The idea is that after I press the Go button, a new page will load, showing a list of results, and one of the results should be "Cake Shop." But I have not managed to get this to work. Is there something that I am missing? Edit: here is the step definitions.   I want to load to new AppDomin some assembly which has a complex references tree (MyDll.dll - Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.dll - Microsoft.Vbe.Interop.dll - Office.dll - stdole.dll) As far as I understood, when an assembly is been loaded to AppDomain, it's references would not be loaded automatically, and I have to load them manually. • minLength data validation is not working with Auth component for CakePHP

  Let's say I have a user registration and I'm using the Auth component (/user/register is allowed of course). The problem is if I need to set a minLength validation rule in the model, it doesn't work since the Auth component hashes the password therefore it's always more than my minlength password and it passes even if it's blank. • NLB and Web Deploy

  I have two webservers in a cluster serving a web application. Using MS Web Deploy to push a new version of the application to one server, and then again to synchronize the files to the other server in the cluster. It seems to be the most ordinary thing to do. But wouldn't there be a problemm, when one server is deployed with the new version, and the other is not yet finished. Will it not cause troubles, when a page loaded with the new version makes a webservice request and the balancer sends the request to the server with the old version? What's the best way to avoid this? I thought about scripting a drainstop of the server, that we deploy to, and make sure only one server is running at a time. But I can't find anyone else, who seems to have written about such a solution. And guess that it doesn't scale very well too. Another solution could be to shut down all servers when updating. But that doesn't seems very clever. Any suggestions?

• Elegant Disjunctive Normal Form in Django

  Let's say I've defined this model: class Identifier(models.Model): user = models.ForeignKey(User) key = models.CharField(max_length=64) value = models.CharField(max_length=255) Each user will have multiple identifiers, each with a key and a value. I am 100% sure I want to keep the design like this, there are external reasons why I'm doing it that I won't go through here, so I'm not interested in changing this. I'd like to develop a function of this sort: def get_users_by_identifiers(**kwargs): # something goes here return users The function will return all users that have one of the key=value pairs specified in **kwargs. Here's an example usage: get_users_by_identifiers(a=1, b=2) This should return all users for whom a=1 or b=2. I've noticed that the way I've set this up, this amounts to a disjunctive normal form...the SQL query would be something like: SELECT DISTINCT(user_id) FROM app_identifier WHERE (key = "a" AND value = "1") OR (key = "b" AND value = "2") ... I feel like there's got to be some elegant way to take the **kwargs input and do a Django filter on it, in just 1-2 lines, to produce this result. I'm new to Django though, so I'm just not sure how to do it. Here's my function now, and I'm completely sure it's not the best way to do it :) def get_users_by_identifiers(**identifiers): users = [] for key, value in identifiers.items(): for identifier in Identifier.objects.filter(key=key, value=value): if not identifier.user in users: users.append(identifier.user) return users Any ideas? :) Thanks!

• Android Loading Screen: How do I go about using a stack to load elements, and the option of incrementing the size counter?

  I have some problems with figuring out what value I should put in the function: int value_needed_to_figure_out = X; ProgressBar.incrementProgressBy(value_needed_to_figure_out); I've been researching about loading screens and how to use them. Some examples I've seen have implemented Thread.sleep() in a Handler.post(new Runnable()) function. To me, I got most of that concept of using the Handler to update the ProgressBar, while pretending to do some heavy crunching work. So, I kept looking. I have read this thread here: How do I load chunks of data from an assest manager during a loading screen? It said that I can try using a stack it needs to load, and adding a size counter as I add elements to the stack. What does it mean? This is the part where I'm totally stumped. • aspnet_regsql questions and users and role

  I spend quite some hours banging my head against the wall trying to set up the aspnet membership / roles tables in my SQL server database instead of having them exist inside the App_Code/ASPNETDB.MDF file because that file wasn't working correctly on my host. I eventually figured out the problem by following Scott's gu here and was able to resolve it by running the aspnet_regsql.exe utility and creating a connection string for LocalSqlServer. The ridiculous part about it is that after running the aspnet_regsql and upload my database to my webhost all of my users and role that I have already created is gone. The user, membership, role, etc is gone. I can't populate this using the Web Site Administration Tool as it's not visual studio now. So what is the easiest way to populate the user, role, etc to my SQL Server as I now have dbo.aspnet_Application, dbo.aspnet_Paths, dbo.aspnet_Roles, etc...etc...

  I'm using cakephp 2.2.2 and I have a problem with the editing view Models and relationships are: Person hasMany OrganizationPerson Organization hasMany OrganizationPerson OrganizationPerson belongs to Person,Organization A basic hasMany through relationship as found within cake documentation. Tables are: people (id,...) organizations (id,...) organization_people (id, person_id,organization_id,...) In the person add and edit forms there is a select box allowing a user to select multiple organization. The problem I have is, when a user edits an existing person, the associated organizations aren't pre-selected. Here is the code in the PeopleController: $organizations = $this->Person->OrganizationPerson->Organization->find('list'); $this->set(compact('organizations')); Related part of the code in the People/edit code looks like: $this->Form->input('OrganizationPerson.organization_id', array('multiple' => true, 'empty' => false)); This will populate the select field, but it does not pre-select it with the Person's associated organizations. Format and content of the $this-data: Array ( [Person] => Array ( [id] => 1 ... ) [OrganizationPerson] => Array ( [0] => Array ( [id] => 1 [person_id] => 1 [organization_id] => 1 ... ) [1] => Array ( [id] => 2 [person_id] => 1 [organization_id] => 2 ... ) ) ) What I have to add/change in the code to get pre-selected organizations?
