  • Disable Device Stage Capability

    - by coelhudo
Is it possible to prevent or disable autorun/autoplay/device-stage by modifying regedit? Because of some constraints, I cannot disable by Control Panel options. I found some related questions here, for example, and some solutions provided by Microsoft, mainly involving this key on regedit: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\NoDriveTypeAutorun But none of these solutions worked, neither after rebooting. Is there any other key or value that controls this kind of property?

How do I get the d--ned disk out so I can use the drive?

  • Chrome Open in New Tab/Window Menu Items

    - by Aequitarum Custos
The problem is, both Firefox and Internet Explorer have "Open in New Tab" as the second option. This has become muscle memory for me by now, to the point that I don't use as often as I want to, solely because I can't open a page in a new tab without thinking about it. Is there a way to switch the position of "Open Link in new tab" and "Open link in new window", so that I can resume browsing as normal, or am I cursed by this user interface design nightmare by Google?

  • How to publish an intranet website on Vista 32 & IIS7

    - by user16011
I am creating an intranet website on a Vista 32 machine with IIS7. On my machine it works great! However, when other users on our network try to connect to it they get an error saying "Oops! Internet Explorer could not connect to computername". Perhaps this is because the NTFS and/or IIS permissions are not set correctly. How do I set the permissions to publish a website on the intranet? Thanks in advance, Dan

  • OS X: How can I copy the shell path to clipboard?

    - by lexu
When working with files on my mac I employ a mixed approach of shell/finder or keyboard/mouse, similar to working with 4NT and Explorer on Windows. One thing I use(d) extensively on Windows is to copy the path of the current directory to the clipboard. This is an extended feature of TakeCommand by JPSoft, on Windows. Is there a way to copy the current path from the bash shell to the mac's clipboard, so I can use it in 'file open' and/or similar dialogues?

  • Any way to map WebDAV with SSL as network drive in Windows XP?

    - by Shadow
I'm trying to map WebDAV with SSL as a network drive in Windows XP. (I've been at this for several hours) I can read the share just fine using a browser and with Network Places, but it refuses to mount as a network drive. I've tried it using the Windows explorer interface and net use. Net use with the \\server@ssl:443\webdav method gives System error 53. https://server/webdav gives error 67. Any help would be appreciated.

  • On Windows 7, dir or tree can't show unicode characters, even starting cmd with cmd /U

    - by ????
On Windows 7, dir or tree can't show unicode characters, even starting cmd with cmd /U So I would press Window Key + R to run something, and type in cmd /U so that the content might handle Unicode. And then using dir or tree /F, the content in Unicode won't show as Unicode. (in Window Explorer (file manager), the Unicode will show) Is there a way to handle it? To get Unicode characters to test your filenames, you can go to http://news.google.com/news?edchanged=1&ned=tw and you will be able to get many Unicode characters there (UTF-8)

  • VIM "upgraded" to expandtab and tabstop=8 on Python files

    - by dotancohen
After reinstalling my OS from Kubuntu 12.10 to Kubuntu 14.04, VIM has changed its behaviour when editing Python files. Though before the reinstall all file types had noexpandtab and tabstop=4 set, now in Python those values are expandtab and tabstop=8, checked also via VIM behaviour and also via asking VIM set foo?. Non-Python files retain the noexpandtab and tabstop=4 behaviour that I prefer. The .vim direcotry and .vimrc were not touched during the reinstall. It can be seen that no files in .vimrc have been touched in months (with the exception of the irrelevant .netrwhist): - bruno():~$ ls -lat ~/.vim total 68 drwxr-xr-x 85 dotancohen dotancohen 12288 Aug 25 13:00 .. drwxr-xr-x 12 dotancohen dotancohen 4096 Aug 21 11:11 . -rw-r--r-- 1 dotancohen dotancohen 268 Aug 21 11:11 .netrwhist drwxr-xr-x 2 dotancohen dotancohen 4096 Mar 6 18:31 plugin drwxr-xr-x 2 dotancohen dotancohen 4096 Mar 6 18:31 doc drwxrwxr-x 2 dotancohen dotancohen 4096 Nov 29 2013 syntax drwxrwxr-x 2 dotancohen dotancohen 4096 Nov 29 2013 ftplugin drwxr-xr-x 4 dotancohen dotancohen 4096 Nov 29 2013 autoload drwxrwxr-x 5 dotancohen dotancohen 4096 May 27 2013 after drwxr-xr-x 2 dotancohen dotancohen 4096 Nov 1 2012 spell -rw------- 1 dotancohen dotancohen 138 Aug 14 2012 .directory -rw-rw-r-- 1 dotancohen dotancohen 190 Jul 3 2012 .VimballRecord drwxrwxr-x 2 dotancohen dotancohen 4096 May 12 2012 colors drwxrwxr-x 2 dotancohen dotancohen 4096 Mar 16 2012 mytags drwxrwxr-x 2 dotancohen dotancohen 4096 Feb 14 2012 keymap Though .vimrc has been touched since the reinstall, it was only me testing to see where the problem is. • How do I remove the Never-Ending Dropbox Folder?

    - by KronoS
I don't know if this is an error with eclipse or dropbox, but I seem to be unable to delete a file folder within my dropbox folder. Somehow, there was a creation of over 8300 file folders, all duplicates of the previous folder. I tried deleting from both command line, and explorer but get the same error: I've also deleted the share from the dropbox website, and it deleted correctly from there, but during the sync from the client (my pc) to the site there is an error: Any ideas of what to do?

  • How to find a folder on Mac OS X 10.5?

    - by user246114
I'm on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). What's the best way to find a folder for which I'm not sure of the full name? For example, I know the folder name I want is like: "farm-animal-type" But the full name may be something like: "farm-animal-type-horse" On Windows, I would just use the find tool through Windows Explorer.

  • undo moving of a folder in Windows

    - by Tony_Henrich
There are times when instead of scrolling vertically in file explorer I accidentally move a folder to within another folder. Great! It happens so quick I don't know which folder was moved and this means I just screwed up an application installation. Is there a way to undo this operation? Or someway to disable moving of folders by default? Using Windows 7.

  • KeePass does not offer `Open with Google Chrome`

    - by RonK
I'm using KeePass and Google Chrome (not plug-ins) for quite some time. I have reinstalled my operating system (Windows 7) and both KeePass and Google Chrome and since then, when I right-click an entry and chose URL I don't have the Open with Google Chrome option - only internet explorer is available. Seems like KeePass did not recognize Chrome - any idea how to fix it? I re-installed KeePass but did not reinstall Chrome yet.

  • Is it possible to copy recordings off of a DVR box hard drive?

    - by bdr9
My cable TV company gives me a Cisco Explorer 8640HDC DVR box that can record shows from TV. I know that it contains a hard drive to save the shows on. What format and file system are used to store the videos on the hard drive? I have looked at the documentation for this DVR box and there is no technical information about the manner in which recordings are stored. Is it possible to connect the hard drive to a computer and extract the recordings from it?

  • change internet hotkey

    - by Matt
My laptop (Acer Aspire 6930) has a hotkey to open the web browser. However, I just got Firefox and I was wondering how I can change the hotkey so that it opens Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. I already contacted Acer...they told me to phone them (at cost), which I would rather avoid since it's such a trivial matter.

  • Free, web based alternative to Visio?

    - by Lars
I have used Visio to map out my network structure, and have used the export function to create an HTML page that is searchable by IP, hostname etc. This is a really nice tool and I use it often. However, I would like for users who do not use Internet Explorer to be able to use the search features. What are some alternatives to Visio here? I want to draw a network diagram where objects are searchable. Thanks!

  • How to show the "Home" folder for SSRS 2008 in SQL Management Studio

    - by kd7iwp
I just installed SSRS 2008 on a development server and when I connect to it with SQL Management Studio I do not have all of the items in Object Explorer that I had with our SSRS 2005 installation. For example, we are missing the "Home" folder which lists all the reports. When we browse to our /ReportServer URL we can view and run our reports, so I know they are on the server. Does anyone know if this is a permissions issue or something else?

  • Why are all google website suddenly giving untrusted certificate warnings in my Firefox v10?

    - by WilliamKF
Today, I am suddenly getting the untrusted website error for all Google websites, but not for any other. Internet Explorer gives no such error. Reboot of this Windows 7 computer does not help. Is this some kind of virus infection that is hijacking DNS resolution away from Google to some spoofer? How can I resolve this issue and get Google websites working again normally? If I manually enter a Google IP Address, the page loads correctly.
