• How is this paradigm/style called?

  I have the following situation: I'm developing an add-in for a UML modeling tool. The models that can be created by the user are stored inside the main application and a limited access to the models is given through its API. However, the add-in has a lot of callbacks for events that are triggered by the main application, when changes to the model occur by the user. Since the models are already stored once in the main application, I considered it not practicable to duplicate the models in the add-in, which leads to the fact that I have only behavior in the add-in, rather than having a state. This behavior is mainly expressed by static functions, that are organized in functional cohesive classes. The callbacks for the events have always references to the model elements relevant for the specifc event that ocurred. First, it seemed to me that this is a procedural style in general, but procedural style doesn't consider events/callbacks, so this boils down to the question. How is this programming style called?

• boot problem with ubuntu and windows 8

  i have a hp dv6 system. on which i was having the windows 8 installed. as i was interested in downloading the ubuntu 12.10 along with windows 8(not inside) .i have made separate partition in ubuntu 12.10 but some how it backfires and now i am not able to boot windows 8 and ubuntu. with windows 8 there is no drive to access the drive partition that has OS. with ubuntu i am getting blank screen. i am thinking that i have problem in system partition but i am not able to solve it. Plz help me. i am in a venerable condition... i have tried booting the window with the help of installation cd but iam not succesful in any of the method - 1-reset PC 2-RECOVERY 3- from command prompt i tried to check disks but it is not showing anything

• How can I copy a file from one partition to another?

  I started with linux a year ago. Few weeks ago it was my idea to install the efi stubloader. I used an LiveCd to freshly install ubuntu 12.10, and studied the articles of www.rodsbooks.com inside out. The problem I am facing is that few files need to be copied from sda2 (Ext) to sda1 (fat32). Silly, that should not be difficullt, but I can not find a way to do it...(in a way I understand it)? Anyboddy? If you have installed a EFI stubloader with reFind or efibootmgr,...please help me.

• Cisco 891w multiple VLAN configuration

  I'm having trouble getting my guest network up. I have VLAN 1 that contains all our network resources (servers, desktops, printers, etc). I have the wireless configured to use VLAN1 but authenticate with wpa2 enterprise. The guest network I just wanted to be open or configured with a simple WPA2 personal password on it's own VLAN2. I've looked at tons of documentation and it should be working but I can't even authenticate on the guest network! I've posted this on cisco's support forum a week ago but no one has really responded. • SSH new connection begins to hang (not reject or terminate) after a day or so on Ubuntu 13.04 server

This now happens every single time. It is imperative that I get it sorted. The strange thing is that it behaves initially then starts to hang after several hours. • Why did Ubuntu suddenly get so slow?

Normally, in past versions, I can log in, open Firefox, and it will pop up within seconds. 12.10 is like that upon install too, though once I install my old apps, it gets very slow by Ubuntu standards. • Disk Drive not working

  The CD/DVD drive on my sisters' (I'm helping her shift from Win. XP (now officially deprecated by Microsoft) to Ubuntu) system. Now, it may end up being a failed attempt, all together (Almost the whole last year (when she's been on XP) the disk drive hasn't (not even powering on) been working.), I just want to make sure I've explored every remote possibility. Because I figure, "Huh, now that I've got Ubuntu running, instead of XP, that (just) might make a difference.". At first I've thought that the whole system was hung, but it happened again 5 minutes ago and, while the keyboard and the touchpad stopped working, the music was still playing, so I guess that's just an "input" problem, because the system was still working!   Is there anyway to have javascript run when a XSL sheet has been applied to an XML file by Javascript? I am using a JQuery plugin to apply the sheet to the xml but the javascript that is located inside of the XSL file will not run. I put the Javascript at the bottom of the file and it still does not run.. I can't seem to get an alert to even run?

  Following a MSDN web page, I am trying to manually run mstest within my tfsbuild.proj and put the results into the pass/fail logic so the build will fail if this particular test fails. It's kind of like running a FxCop or something else from CMD and capturing a "0" or "1" and force-fail the build. MSTest /testcontainer:test.dll /publish:http://ourtfsmachine:8080 /teamproject:ProjectName /publishbuild:BuildNumber01 /platform:AnyCpu /flavor:Release I could understand running this inside an Exec task, butI don't know what the BuildNumber is, for example. • Truncate text to fit table cell without wrapping using css or jquery

  I want the text in one of the columns of a table to not wrap, but to just truncate so that it fits within the current size of the table cell. I don't want the table cell to change size, as I need the table to be exactly 100% the width of the container. This is because the table with 100% width is inside of a positioned div with overflow: auto (it's actually inside of a jquery UI.Layout panel). I tried both overflow: hidden and the text still wrapped. • Windows Phone 7 emulator on a VM?

  It seems that the Windows Phone 7 SDK doesn't support running inside a VM. On Parallels, the entire VM simply crashes when the emulator is starting up. Around the web, though, a few people have reported that they were able to use it by changing a lot of the VM settings. What do I have to change to be able to run it? I'm specially interested in Parallels, but VMWare or any other simulator that run on OSX if fine for me!

  I can't seem to figure out how to reterive the x,y position of an oval created on a Tkinter canvas using Python via c.create_oval(x0, y0, x1, y2) I understand that Tkinter creates the oval inside the box specified by x0,y0,x1,y2 and if I can get those coordinates that would also work. I need the coordinates to move the oval by an offset equal to the mouse coords and the actual oval.
