    The problem I want to install Arch Linux on my desktop, it is going to be a dual boot with Windows. I booted into the installation CD, but when I started cfdisk to partition my hard drive it gave me the following error: FATAL ERROR: Primairy parititon 1, partition ends in the final partial cylinder.     For CentOS installation CDs, you can install OS, as well as booting into "rescue" mode so that you can do a chroot mount on the system partition for problem solving, even the system is installed in hardware RAID drives. How can we create a similar thing but on usb flash drive? I tried to do it with unetbootin, but when booting into the USB, eventually the CentOS setup still requires presence of CDs. Ultimately, I want to use this usb flash drive for remote disaster recovery through say HP iLo remote console / Dell iDrac etc.

    I am having some problems with my freshly installed Windows XP on VirtualBox. I tried installing Google Chrome on it, and the error I get is: Google Update installation failed with error 0x80040890 It is genuine Windows with SP3. I also tried using VMware player, but it has the same problem. When the same Windows is installed on a real machine, there is no problem. Any ideas what might be the cause?

    Alright, so I need the soap extension enabled in php. When I run phpinfo(), it's not there, so I'm guessing I have to recompile? I can follow tutorials online to recompile the most recent php version for centos, but will it generally just work after that? Or does apache need to know to use the new installation?     I'm running a dual boot system with Windows XP and Fedora 13. I would like to uninstall Fedora 13 and remain with Windows XP only. This fedora document says I need to boot from a Windows XP installation CS to fix the MBR. Is there a way to do that without using the CD (I'm working in a company where I got my computer up and running with XP. Getting the CD will require me contact the system admins which might take some time).

Below is a screecapture of a wikipage in the edit mode, where the standard WYSIWYG controls (expected to be present just above the text input in the left corner) are missing. In an attempt to solve the issue, TracWysiwygPlugin was installed, but this has not changed the situation. What could be the reason for missing WYSIWYG controls and how could it be fixed?

    In the Quick Installation Giide to the MDS600/D6000 storage server it says IMPORTANT: Some racks other than the HP Rack 10000 Series rack do not allow full access to hard drive bays 29-35 in hard drive drawer 2. I have a HP 10636 G2 19" Rack 36U (PN: AF011A). Question It is temping to think that the rack is supported, but can anyone comfirm that 10000 Series to HP means 10xxx, so my rack is supported?

I mean, when pressing key, does the keyboard send a specific signal indicating what it represents (if so, why needing to specify the layout?) or it sends a signal indicating its position (the second raw, third key) and then the OS detects what key is that from the layout specified?

    We use the stats package SPSS through App-V however although it allows use of custom dialogs and macros, these must be placed in a sub folder within the app installation and so this means that users cannot add new macros. Is it possible to have an App-V package include a symbolically linked folder to point to a different place so that this remote folder could be updated easily without necessitating a rebuild and redeployment of the package?     I'm just doing a VMWare Workstation 8 installation. However, on trying to boot (or create) a VM, it's reporting "Could not get vmx86 driver version: The handle is invalid." It recommends reinstalling, which I've done. Also, VMWare Player just hangs. Was going to post on the VMWare forums, but can't seem to create a new discussion (even though I've registered/logged in). It's our own fault for being too eager to upgrade, I guess.

    Running yum --security check-update returns this message: Security: kernel-3.x.x-x.63 is an installed security update Security: kernel-3.x.x-x.29 is the currently running version I already ran the yum security update on the kernel, but it looks like it didn't change the version running on the system. What needs to be done to make it run the new kernel? Are there any concerns about why it didn't change during the installation process? The yum log just shows installed for the new kernel no error messages.

I want to use the notebook before that and am considering installing Windows 7 on the hard disk (spinning variety, 5400rpm) before I get the SSD. To save time I am wondering if I can ghost/clone the installation of Windows 7 from the hard drive and put on the SSD. Windows Installer (one click installer) for Postgres 8.4.2 that can be downloaded from enterprisedb.com offers only fresh install (it does not recognizes my current installation of v8.3.3). Is it possible to upgrade with all existing databases converted and visible (automatically migrated?) in new version just after upgrade? Or I have to do something more - backup/restore all my databases manually?
