  • How to define large list of strings in Visual Basic

    I'm writing a macro in Visual Basic for PowerPoint 2010. I'd like to initialize a really big list of strings like: big_ol_array = Array( _ "string1", _ "string2", _ "string3", _ "string4" , _ ..... "string9999" _ ) ...but I get the "Too many line continuations" error in the editor. When I try to just initialize the big array with no line breaks, the VB editor can't handle such a long line (1000+) characters. Does anyone know a good way to initialize a huge list of strings in VB? Thanks in advance!

    I have uninstalled VS 2010 and many other apps that I don't use anymore, and reinstalled it after. I have also reinstalled VS 2010 SP1. I'm now down to 3 updates, of which I am getting the error: "KB2522890 does not apply, or is blocked by another condition on your computer." I have already disabled my antivirus and Windows Defender. It also happens to the other updates: VS10SP1-KB2529927-v2-x86 VS10SP1-KB2548139-x86 VS10SP1-KB2549864-x86 It is possible that Microsoft Update is right that they do not apply, as I only installed VS 2010 C# and Web development. Why is it recommending that I install them then?

  • Clickonce applications being allowed through firewall

    The company I work for uses an application that is deployed through clickonce. This means that everytime they update said program the program regenerates in a new location ie: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\89XCT43D.10T\WBZ8WE7L.927\trm8..tion_1ad39bb503bcb5df_0008.0005_14829906c9aa8611\%appname%.exe Recently the computers were updated to windows 7 machines and now everytime an update is pushed out the windows firewall see this as a new application and prompts the users to allow the program through the firewall. THis means I have to walk around to every computer and type in admin credentials. Does anyone know of a way to allow the application regardless of the path it is in? Google has not been very helpful so far.

    Will this increase my Virtual private Server failing rate if i :- install Microsoft Window Server 2008 Enterprise install SQL server enterprise 2008 install IIS 7.5 install ASP.Net Mvc 2 install Microsoft Exchange << should live inside MWS2008 ? or standalone without OS? install Team foundation server << should live inside MWS2008 ? or standalone without OS? on one mini VPS with specification of DELL Poweredge R710 shared plan DDR3 ECC RAMs 16GB and -- 1GB for this VPS using DELL PERC 6i raid controller (this thing alone about 1.5k-2k) and the SAS HDD (15K RPM) (146GB) -- 33GB to this VPS each hdd is freaking fast over 300MB read / write possible with proper tuning the motherboard is a DELL and it has twin redundant PSU (870watt 85%eff) its running on Intel Xeon 5502 (Quad Core) x2 so about 8 physical proc (fairly share) is there any ruler to measure for this about one VPS can only install what what what service ? because of my resource is limited =.@ may i know if it is install in this way,maybe it seem like defeat the way of "VPS"... what will happen ? or any guideline on this issue (fully configuring the window server 2008 R2) ?     I am trying to attach to database file (*.mdf, *.ldf) that I placed in the same folder as all my other SQL Server databases. I begin the attach by attempting to browse to the folder which contains the db files as well as all of my active database files. I select "attach Database" and click the "Add" button to add a database to the list of databases to attach to. When I do so, I get this error: TITLE: Locate Database Files - BESI-CHAD ------------------------------ D:\SQLdata\MSSQL10_50.SQLBESI\MSSQL\DATA Cannot access the specified path or file on the server. Verify that you have the necessary security privileges and that the path or file exists. If you know that the service account can access a specific file, type in the full path for the file in the File Name control in the Locate dialog box. ------------------------------ BUTTONS: OK ------------------------------ The path is correct and, as I mentioned, it contains all of my other database files so I wouldn't think that permissions should be an issue, but here is what I see for that folder: Any idea why I cannot browse to that folder and attach to the db files that I have place there?

  • SSIS DSN Not Showing as ODBC Data Source

    I have been following the directions here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlintegrationservices/thread/05ccd778-b78c-4a83-a10a-c4ae412cc6e4 And ran into a problem where my System DSN is not showing up as a ODBC provider. I found this which seemed promising: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2000277 I was not able to delete the key but followed but I did what was suggested: "If unable to delete the key, double-click the key and erase the Data value entered. Once done, the value should read ' (value not set) '" However, after following the instructions my System DSN still does not appear as an option. The USER DSN however does show...has shown but does not work as I get a permissions error. Any ideas?

Just to be clear, we're not wanting to know if any of the runtime files (listed below) are or were included with any of the previous versions (Beta, CTP, RS etc) or releases of Windows 8 - we are just interested in this compatibility question as far as Windows 8 RTM (Final Version) is concerned. In addition, if possible, we would also like to know which of the below files (if any) come shipped and registered with the Windows 8 RT (on ARM) version. As far as the ARM version is concerned, you're welcome to base your answer on the latest version of Windows 8 RT (on ARM) that is available at the date and time your answer is posted. (This will also serve to future-proof this question as additional releases or versions of Windows 8 and Windows 8 RT on ARM come out).   • World Wide Publishing Service very slow to restart on IIS? Why?

    Every now and then, we look to restart our IIS server by restarting the "WWW Publishing Service". On most systems this would usually only take a minute or two, but this can often take up to 10 minutes to stop the server and restart. Does anyone know any way to work out what is taking so much time to stop the service? After reading up around the net I've learned this may be due to locked resources used by users and/or lower-level IIS cached items being recycled. But I cant seem to work out where I can validate if this is true on not. Also if anyone knows how to fix or speed this up, that would be excellent. We have a large codebase which contains over 280 aspx pages across the site. Our main domain contains about 100 aspx pages whilst the subdomains contain 15 or 20 each. Some specs: Code is written in C#; runs on .Net framework 2.0 Server Windows Web Server 2008 IIS7; DB running SQL Server 2008 Standard

  • Installing VS2010 components with SP1 beta

    Hello, I hope this is the place for this kind of question. I have VS2010 ult with the Service Pack 1 beta installed. I want to play with F# and I need to install it. The problem is that because I have the SP1 installed, the VS DVD can't install the F# compiler. I click on add new feature, I click on F#, the installer says: "A selected drive is not longer valid. Please review your installation path settings before continuing with setup." Of course the path is correct and I can't change it anyway... I think that problem is because I have the SP1. I had the same problem in the past with VS2008 + SP1. What can I do? Uninstalling VS2010 is not an option, it take ages. Thank you.

    After installing VS 2010 trial I am getting this error "Generic Host Process For Win32 Services Encountered A Problem and needs to close. When this message pops my computer just stuck and I can not even restart it normally. I have found one fix on net but after that fix I can not access my LAN. This fix change these values in registry. HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\netbt\parameters TransportBindName HKLM\Software\Microsoft\OLE EnableDCOM If I revert these registry changes then I again start getting 'Generic Host Process For Win32 Services' I have uninstall VS 2010 but this problem persist. This problem is not because of any virus. Any help to fix this or I have to re install Windows. Thanks.
