• Need old version Firefox Java plugin

  I need to use Java 1.6.0_20 for the software I'm running. I went to the Oracle website and downloaded jre1.6.0_20 and installed it on my computer, but can't seem to get Firefox to load Java. If I download directly from http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp, the plugin works fine but is the wrong version, and I can't find on www.java.com anywhere to download any of the previous versions. According to the help (can't post link because of spam prevention), I need to go into the Java Control Panel and enable it for Mozilla. I've done this multiple times, but every time I go in to the control panel and check the box, click Apply and Save, as soon as I go back in the box is unchecked. Does anyone know either why the box is unchecked, or where I can download the old JRE that also is configured for Firefox?

• Possible to recover older, previously deleted files with R-studio?

  The files and directories on one of my ntfs partition were wiped out last time. I used R-studio to scan the partition, and it did find many files, actually more than the capacity of the partition. This is because R-studio found files that were deleted even earlier. So I wonder if it is possible to specify those files and directories deleted last time instead of those deleted earlier for recovery? R-studio has a free demo version, for which scanning is free,but recovery isn't. It is downloadable from http://www.data-recovery-software.net/Data_Recovery_Download.shtml Its manual is here http://www.r-tt.com/downloads/Recovery_Manual.pdf. I have tried my best to search for answers in the manual, but failed to find one. Their technical support is not as good as their software, and helpless usually in my opinion. Thanks!

  I'm in the process of setting up my own name servers using BIND9, however I want to visualize the name server setup in relation to registrars and other name servers. Say I have a domain www.mydomain.com I setup my 2 name servers: ns1.mydomain.com - 192.168.0.1 ns2.mydomain.com - 192.168.0.2 1) How does the world know that my name servers are now at ns1.mydomain and ns2.mydomain. I read about setting up glue records at my registrar. Could you please elaborate on this, i.e. once i setup these glue records, can I now use my name servers in NS records for any other domain? For e.g. NS records for www.otherdomain.com - ns1.mydomain.com/ns2.mydomain.com 2) Given I setup the glue records as mentioned above, do I "have to" update mydomain.com NS records to point to my name servers? Can I keep mydomain.com NS records pointing to my registrars name servers, however use ns1.mydomain.com/ns2.mydomain.com as name servers for any other domain I own? Thanks

• DVD wont mount Ubuntu 12.04

  I can't seem to be able to mount my optical drive. I have tried numerous solutions from this site with no results. I am not able to see the device inside the file browser either. There is a DVD in the drive. I am running 12.04 on an HP g60-235dx portable. I have a link below to the specs. I will also list what I have tried (that I can find back right now.) I know the drive is functioning, because just before Windows 7 crashed and my MBR went fubar I was watching movies just fine. I am fairly new to linux, so don't assume I know anything. • How do i set a (open_)basedir with php using fastcgi/nginx?

  Essentially i found out you can limit the folders each user has access to by using php's basedir/open_basedir. I'd like to have each php only access its own files. So i wrote fastcgi_param open_basedir $document_root; in hopes that it would work. It didnt. I googled and only found results saying you cant do it via fastcgi or nginx. Is this true or can i not do it? PS: I -do- spawn php as its own user (rather then www-data) so it doesnt wreak havoc on my nonphp websites. But i still like to prevent one php script on a php site from accessing other directories (if i have a wordpress install on yourface.com its pretty obvious a valid php path is /var/www/yourface/<wordpress scripts>

  I know that I can dump the entire information from a PEM certificate file with this command: openssl x509 -in certfile -noout -text And I've already found another direct parameter to show me only the expiry date of a certificate: openssl x509 -in certfile -noout -enddate But is there also a shortcut to get only the alternative names? Like when a certificate can be used for example.com as well as www.example.com. It seems like demand for CICS, Tuxedo has fallen from 2.5%/1% respectively to almost zero. To me, it seems bizarre: now we have more networked and internet enabled machines than ever before. And most of them are talking to some kind of database. So it would seem that use of products whose developers spent last 20-30 years working on distributing and coordinating and optimizing transactions should be on the rise. And it appears they're not. I can see a few causes but can't tell whether they are true: we forgot that concurrency and distribution are really hard, and redoing it all by ourselves, in Java, badly. Erlang killed them all. Projects nowadays have changed character, like most business software has already been built and we're all doing internet services, using stuff like Node.js, Erlang, Haskell. (I've used RabbitMQ which is written in Erlang, "but it was small specialized side project" kind of thing). BigData is the emphasis now and BigData doesn't need transactions very much (?). None of those explanations seem particularly convincing to me, which is why I'm looking for better one. Anyone?

  One of my linux server's clock loses 10 minutes every now and then, nearly every week. I update the time so it stays correct, and although it doesn't really bother me, i'd like to fix it. I've been searching around a bit. Nothing can be responsible in the crontab, and i can't find any related message in the logs. Some people seem to use ntp to fix that kind of issue, but i'd prefer not to use an unecessary component on it. • Setting up a LAMP VM server for Development and Testing?

  Info: I would like to set up a VM server on my local computer which will serve pages in the exact same way as my current hosting (but only to me on my local computer). I currently pay a big web hosting company to host my website & web store and they are doing a great job, but I would like to be able to work on my Web site and its corresponding MySQL DB, HTML, and PHP code without being at risk of messing something completely up on the live servers. My current plan of action: Set up a VM webserver with Debian, MySQL, PHP, Apache. Copy web store (PHP/HTML) code to VM server. Copy my current MySQL databases from my hosting provider and install on VM server. Modify and test new features on VM server. Upload MySQL DB and HTML/PHP code back to web host's server where it should work as before but with new modifications. Questions: Now I'm pretty sure I have steps one and two down correctly but I can't for the life of me figure out how to proceed next, so here are my questions. I have my /etc/host file set up so www.MySite.test redirects to the IP address of the local VM webserver. Once I import my PHP/HTML files and MySQL file whats the best way to navigate around the fact that all of my files and DBs will reference www.MySite.com. I can export my MySQL dbs but do I also have to export my MySQL users and passwords to access those db or are those coded into my html/php code?

  I've got a server with one site which I am redirecting to https via <VirtualHost *:80> DocumentRoot /var/www/html/secure ServerName secure.com Redirect / https://secure.com </VirtualHost> That works no problem. Now I'm trying to add another non-secure site <VirtualHost *:80> DocumentRoot /var/www/html/notsecure ServerName notsecure.com </VirtualHost> of course, because the redirect is on '/', all sites are getting redicted. I've tried changing the Redirect to the full document root, but no luck.

  My website is getting badly hit by spambots and scrappers, I am using Cloudflare but the problem still remains there. The problem is spambots accessing non-existing urls causing a lot of load to my drupal backend which goes all the way and bootstraps db just to serve a 404 error doc. I cant simply dish out non-drupal 404's for all page not found errors, as I need to have drupal catch them. Since, varnish is in front it can check if the bot is acting nice and asking for valid url - if not it servers them a 404 or 403. • How to include a non-breaking hyphen in hyperlink text in Word 2010

  I want to include a URL in word document, both as text people can read, and a link they can click. The URL has a hyphen in it. I don't want the URL to get broken across lines. When I use a regular hyphen, the link works, but the text displayed gets broken. When I use a non-breaking hyphen (Ctrl+Shift+-) Word removes the hyphen from the link. When I try and manually edit the hyperlink, I can't add a non-breaking hyphen into the Text to display field using Ctrl+Shift+-. If I was writing this is HTML I could just do: <a href="http://www.my-link.com/">www.my&#8209;link.com</a> How do I get Word to do the equivalent?

• Keep ASP.NET site and content separate

  I have an ASP.NET site in folder x. Currently lots of other static content gets added to folder x and gets mixed in, making it one big mess. I would like to keep the ASP.NET site and the content separate somehow. I know you can create virtual directories in IIS, but there are LOTS and even some content in the root. The content people are not technical and really need an easy way to add it. I would stick everything in a subfolder (they don't touch anything outside, I don't touch their folder), but that would change their URLs (www.example.com/something to www.example.com/content/something). I almost need a way to "merge" two folders and have them act as one. I'm guessing that is impossible since there could be file conflicts, etc. Any other ways I can achieve this?

• `wget` is not recognized or either can't find the file

  if i use cd C:\Program Files (x86)\GnuWin32\bin then i'm able to use wget commands for example: wget http://www.ultralightnews.com/trikes/images/trikes/dfs-singletrike.jpg but i can't find the file back, i looked in c:\ and in the bin folder mentioned above and in GnuWin32\etc If i try wget -O C:\Users\clankill3r\Downloads\wgetfolder wget http://www.ultralightnews.com/trikes/images/trikes/dfs-singletrike.jpg then it says Permision denied, i did allow all permisions possible for every group / user. Some people say it downloads to the current folder your working in (that's why i looked in the bin). But i thought let's try to run the command from another folder so i used: 'cd C:\Users\clankill3r\Downloads\wgetfolderand then the wget comman but then it says thewget` command is not recognized. can someone help?

  I installed WAMP server on win xp - it works. I installed Wordpress 3.4.2 into www.wordpress - no problem. In Dreamweaver CS5 I created a site with www.wordpress as root folder, and assigned a local test server - ok. In Dreamweaver, I opened twentyten theme - index.php - and pressed F12 to see the page in Firefox - and got: Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_header()... - on line 16 This is a completely new and clear wordpress installation. Why is the function (get_header) - undefined? To check the server I copied another .php file into the same folder - F12 - it works.

  I've been trying to setup a password protected directory in a SSL website as follows: /etc/nginx/sites-available/default server { listen 443: ssl on; ssl_certificate /usr/certs/server.crt; ssl_certificate_key /usr/certs/server.key; server_name server1.example.com; root /var/www/example.com/htdocs/; index index.html; location /secure/ { auth_basic "Restricted"; auth_basic_user_file /var/www/example.com/.htpasswd; } } The problem is when I try to access the URL https://server1.example.com/secure/, I get a "404: Not Found" error page. My error.log shows the following error: 011/11/26 03:09:06 [error] 10913#0: *1 no user/password was provided for basic authentication, client: 192.168.0.24, server: server1.example.com, request: "GET /secure/ HTTP/1.1", host: "server1.example.com" However, I was able to setup password protected directories for a normal HTTP virtual host without any problems. Is it a problem with the config or something else?

Somehow i can go to some web pages, but i cant login to them, for example www.buzzerbeater.com, i cant access my hotmail/msn, outlook doesnt work either, also www.realgm.com, i cant access the forums too. I have tried with IE7/Firefox/Chrome, but same result. I was using avast free edition that i removed, and i dont have any other security software installed. My laptop from the same network works perfectly. Any ideas?
