  • Why ISVs Run Applications on Oracle SuperCluster

    - by Parnian Taidi-Oracle
Michael Palmeter, Senior Director Product Development of Oracle Engineered Systems, discusses how ISVs can easily run up to 20x faster, gain 28:1 storage compression, and grow presence in the market all without any changes to their code in this short video. One of the family of Oracle engineered systems products, Oracle SuperCluster provides maximum end-to-end database and application performance with minimal initial and ongoing support and maintenance effort, at the lowest total cost of ownership. Java or enterprise applications running on Oracle Database 11gR2 or higher and Oracle Solaris 11 can run up to 20X faster than traditional platforms on Oracle SuperCluster without any changes to their code.  Large number of customers are consolidating hundreds of their applications and databases on Oracle SuperCluster and are requiring their ISVs to support it. ISVs can become Oracle SuperCluster Ready and Oracle SuperCluster Optimized by joining the Oracle Exastack program.

  • HTML5 Video Tag in Chrome - Why is currentTime ignored when video downloaded from my webserver?

    - by larson4
I want to be able to play back video from a specific time using the HTML5 video tag (and currently only need to worry about Chrome). This is possible by setting the currentTime property of a video element. That works fine in Chrome with a video sourced from html5rocks.com, but is ignored when the same file is loaded from my own local webserver. Using the sample code from http://playground.html5rocks.com/#video_tag, I have arrived at the following HTML: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <body> <video id="video1" width="320" height="240" volume=".7" controls preload=true autobuffer> <source src="http://playground.html5rocks.com/samples/html5_misc/chrome_japan.webm" type='video/webm; codecs="vp8, vorbis"'/> </video> <input type=button onclick="play()" value="play"> <input type=button onclick="setTime()" value="setTime"> <input type=button onclick="pause()" value="pause"> <script> var play=function() { document.getElementById("video1").play(); } var setTime=function() { document.getElementById("video1").currentTime=2; } var pause=function() { document.getElementById("video1").pause(); } </script> </body> </html> Using Chrome, if you Wait for the video to download for a bit (until the progress bar is about 10% in) Press setTime - you should notice the time jump to 2 seconds press play ...the video will start at 2 seconds in. But if I download the webm file in the source src to my local webserver, and change src to point locally: <source src="chrome_japan.webm" type='video/webm; codecs="vp8, vorbis"'/> ...then setting currentTime is complete ignored. No errors are showing in the developer tools console. Now, my webserver is serving this with mime type "video/webm", but it will be served like any old file -- not streamed. Do I need a webserver that streams in some specific way? What else could be at fault here? Note: The webserver is a proprietary platform and won't have any of the same exact settings or controls one might expect of Tomcat or some other commonly used webserver, though there may be other ways to achieve the same effect.

  • JavaScript event window.onload not triggered

    - by Bernhard V
Hi! I've got the following code in a website: window.onload = resize; window.onresize = resize; function resize(){ heightWithoutHeader = (window.innerHeight - 85) + "px"; document.getElementById("haupttabelle").style.height = heightWithoutHeader; document.getElementById("navBar").style.height = heightWithoutHeader; } The onresize works fine, but the onload event never fires. I've tried it in Firefox and Chrome and neither of them works. Thank you for your help and go for the reputation! ;D

  • How do I avoid the "S to Skip" message on boot?

    - by Marty
After upgrading my laptop from karmic to lucid, my fat32 partition won't mount automatically. I get the message: The disk drive for /osshare is not ready yet or not present Continue to wait; or Press S to skip mounting or M for manual recovery Funny thing is, if I skip, then /osshare/ is mounted once I log in. I've a similar setup on my desktop, and it works fine. • Trees and macros with tikz

    - by Tsf
    I am trying to build my trees using macros but I don't get the result I want. Here is a minimal example: \documentclass{article} \usepackage{tikz} \usetikzlibrary{trees} \newcommand{\LeafNode}[1]{% child {node {#1}} } \newcommand{\InnerNode}[3]{% child {node {#3} #1 #2 } } \begin{document} \begin{tikzpicture} \node (A) {A} \LeafNode{B} \LeafNode{C} ; \end{tikzpicture}% \hspace{2cm}% \begin{tikzpicture} \node (A) {A} \InnerNode{\LeafNode{D}}{\LeafNode{E}}{B} \LeafNode{C} ; \end{tikzpicture} \end{document} I expected this to produce two trees: A A / \ / \ B C B C / \ D E but I am getting: A | A B | | B D | | C C Am I missing something or there is no way to do it? BTW, if I omit the label on my root node, I get a PGF error: ! Package pgf Error: No shape named is known. -- Tsf

  • Lucene.NET - Find documents that do not contain a specified field

    - by Brandon
Let's say I have 2 instance of a class called 'Animal'. Animal has 3 fields: Name, Age, and Type The name field is nullable, so before I insert an instance of Animal as a Lucene indexed document, I check if Animal.Name == null, and if it does, I do not insert it as a field in my document. If I were to retrieve all animals, I would see that the Name field does not exist and I can set its value to null. However, there may be situations where I want to say "Get me all animals that do not have a name specified yet." In this situation I want to retrieve all Lucene.NET documents from my animal index that do not contain the Name field. Is there an easy way to do this with Lucene.NET? I want to stay away from having to perform some sort of hack to check if my name field has a value of 'null'.

  • Why is nodeName sometimes all-caps in javascript DOM?

    - by harpo
So I have a DOM document that looks essentially like this <categories> <category id="1"/> <category id="2"/> </categories> This is how the document previews in Firebug, as I would expect. However, when I POST this to the server, I get <categories> <CATEGORY id="1"/> <CATEGORY id="2"/> </categories> Indeed, doc.documentElement.firstChild.nodeName returns "CATEGORY". The nodes are added using jQuery.append('<category/>'). Why are the child tags returned in all caps?

  • How can I get jsonp to play nice with my class?

    - by George Edison
This whole jsonp thing is quite confusing... Here is what I want to do: I have a class DataRetriever The class has a method GetData GetData makes a jsonp request with the following code: var new_tag = document.createElement('script'); new_tag.type = 'text/javascript'; new_tag.src = 'http://somesite.com/somemethod?somedata'; // Add the element var bodyRef = document.getElementsByTagName("body").item(0); bodyRef.appendChild(new_tag); Now, the jsonp data from the server somesite.com can call a function in my code with the data. The problem is, how does the data get delivered to the instance of DataRetriever that requested it? I'm really stuck here.

  • Announcing a new Free Windows Azure Platform Trial offer

    - by Eric Nelson
We now have a  truly useful Windows Azure Platform trial. Which makes me very happy as I was a vocal critic of the original trial offer. Simply put, the small number of compute hours it included made it useless for many potential early adopters. This is now fixed. The new Introductory Special now includes a generous 750 hours of compute – enough to run a web role 24/7. Enjoy! Related Links Full announcement If you are an ISV then there is a better offer for you via Microsoft Platform Ready and Cloud Essentials and keep an eye on our events for ISVs as we will be doing Windows Azure Platform technical briefings starting March 31st.

  • Using a back-end mechanism to copy files to DB and notify the application

    - by BDotA
This Scenario: User copies large files to a local folder. I want to watch that folder and when a new file is dropped then go and copy it to Database, so later when coping is done I can actually use it in my application. ( A C# WinForms App). It would be awesome to also find a way to somehow get notified in the Application that hey copying the file to DB is finished and ready for use... I am using C#.net, Windows... What solutions/architecture do you suggest for this? For example having a windows service running all the time watching that folder, when something copied goes and write it to DB ... then how about getting notified? MSMQ is something I can use? don't know much about it yet. Thanks.

  • What are my options for selling software independently on Windows?

    - by technomalogical
I am looking to port a tool from the Mac app store over to Windows, the platform where I spend most of my time these days. I've spoken with the author of the original app and we've begun talking about licensing options should I decide to sell the application, and it seems like it would be feasible. I've never sold software independently, let alone on Windows. That I know of, there is not (yet) an equivalent app store for Windows (maybe one coming with Windows 8). Assuming my product was done today and I was ready to go to market, what options do I have for selling software for Windows as an independent developer or Micro-ISV? I know can sell it through my own website and accept PayPal, but are there options that will offer more visibility, similar to that of the Apple app stores? Any options to avoid?

  • Add a Carriage Return to the Output of an XSL Transformation

    - by dsrekab
I am trying to use XSLT to convert an XML document to a text file and the text of the document looks fine. However, I need to add a carriage return after the end of each line (NOT A CRLF) and I seem to be failing in every attempt. I have tried adding just a CR at the end of the line like this: <xsl:text>&#xD;</xsl:text> I have tried changing my media-type to string, I have tried to add the disable-output-escaping attribute to the text element, but it always adds a CRLF. This is on a Windows OS and I know that Windows uses CRLF for a new line, but I would have thought you could override that if you said to specifically use only the CR or the LF (e.g. VB.net's VBCR or VBLF). Does anyone know if it is possible to only output a CR with XSLT? Thanks in advance.

  • How to convert a DOM node list to an array in Javascript?

    - by Guss
I have a Javascript function that accepts a list of HTML nodes, but it expects a Javascript array (it runs some Array methods on that) and I want to feed it the output of Document.getElementsByTagName that returns a DOM node list. Initially I thought of using something simple like: Array.prototype.slice.call(list,0) And that works fine in all browsers, except of course Internet Explorer which returns the error "JScript object expected", as apparently the DOM node list returned by Document.getElement* methods is not a JScript object enough to be the target of a function call. Caveats: I don't mind writing Internet Explorer specific code, but I'm not allowed to use any Javascript libraries such as JQuery because I'm writing a widget to be embedded into 3rd party web site, and I cannot load external libraries that will create conflict for the clients. My last ditch effort is to iterate over the DOM node list and create an array myself, but is there a nicer way to do that?

  • How to position a div at the bottom of the viewport in standard and in quirks mode ??

    - by Gonzalo
Hi, I need to position a div to the bottom of my viewport. I start using position:fixed; bottom:0px; and that work just fine. But the thing that I'm working on gets injected via javascript in different pages. And some of the pages doesn't have a doctype defined, so in IE gets rendered like quircks mode, so the div doesn't get positioned correctly.. I've tried to position the div using javascript (document.documentElement.clientHeight) and that works fine. But when no doctype is defined, the "document.documentElement.clientHeight" is 0, so again the div doesn't get positioned correctly. Any idea on how to fix this problem? I'm only interested in IE 7 and 8. Thanks in advance Gonzalo

  • Replace a word in an XML file through StreamReader in XNA?

    - by kcoppock
Okay, so this is sort of a hack...but it may have to be. I'm writing an app in XNA, which from my research into this problem apparently doesn't support XML version 1.1. I'm reading in the contents of an ePub document, and one of the newer books contains its content directory as a version 1.1 XML document. This causes my program to crash. However, the structure is the same as the rest, the only thing that should be keeping it from working is the hard-coded "1.0" in the XmlDocument class. Is it possible that I could read in the file from the stream, see if it contains: <?xml version="1.1" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?> and simply replace it with "1.0"? Then I could pull it in as an XmlDocument. I'm not doing any writing to the file, or any complex structural reading, just looking for a few specific nodes, and pulling in the values, so I don't know what the ramifications of this would be.

  • Book about tcp, http, named pipe, shared memory, wcf and other inter-process communication protocol

    - by Samuel
Recently, I had to create a program to send messages between two winforms executable. I used a tool with simple built-in functionalities to prevent having to figure out all the ins and outs of this vast quantity of protocols that exist. But now, I'm ready to learn more about the internals difference between each of theses protocols. I googled a couple of them but it would be greatly appreciate to have a good reference book that gives me a clean idea of how each protocol works and what are the pros and cons in a couple of context. Here is a list of nice protocols that I found: Shared memory TCP List item Named Pipe File Mapping Mailslots MSMQ (Microsoft Queue Solution) WCF I know that all of these protocols are not specific to a language, it would be nice if example could be in .net. Thank you very much.

  • Are there any reasons to make all fields and variables final?

    - by Roman
In my current project I noticed that all class fields and variable inside methods are declared with final modifier whenever it's possible. Just like here: private final XMLStreamWriter _xmlStreamWriter; private final Marshaller _marshaller; private final OutputStream _documentStream; private final OutputStream _stylesStream; private final XMLStreamWriter _stylesStreamWriter; private final StyleMerger _styleMerger; public DocumentWriter(PhysicalPackage physicalPackage) throws IOException { final Package pkg = new Package(physicalPackage); final Part wordDocumentPart = pkg.createPart( "/word/document.xml", "application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document.main+xml", "http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/officeDocument/2006/relationships/officeDocument"); // styles.xml final Pair<Part, String> wordStylesPart = wordDocumentPart.createRelatedPart(...); ... } Are there any reasons to do so? p.s. As I know project is not supposed to be multithreaded (at least I've heard nothing about it).

  • execute javascript method after method excution complete ?

    - by James123
    I want execute below callback()method after completion of process document.getElementById('btnDownload').click(); method. click() is the code behind method. That means, I mean after complete process of click() then excute callback() method. Because my modelpop is not hiding in code behind. So I want hide in javascript method. function LoadPopup() { // find the popup behavior this._popup = $find('mdlPopup'); // show the popup this._popup.show(); // synchronously run the server side validation ... document.getElementById('btnDownload').click(); callback(); } function callback() { this._popup = $find('mdlPopup'); // hide the popup this._popup.hide(); alert("hi"); }
