  I have a problem with my newly installed 12.10 86_64 Desktop. This error pops up on console when I try to update apt-get or try to install packages and nodejs just don't work and there is no error on console. Ignoring file 'eugenesan-java-quantal.list.save' in directory '/etc/apt/sources.list.d/' as it has an invalid filename extension this error started after my update on apt-get sudo apt-get update I'm a   Problem: I'm trying to use a library named DCMTK which used some other external libraries ( zlib, libtiff, libpng, libxml2, libiconv ). I've downloaded these external libraries (*.LIB & *.h files ) from the same website. What exactly is happening under the hood? Why exactly this thing is causing linking error? I wonder if there is something called "Single-Threaded Debug" and "Single-Threaded" which again causes the same thing. Documentation talks something about "Code Generation Options". What Code Generation Options? WTH are they? Documentation specifically warns us not to use /NODEFAULTLIB workaround. (example /NODEFAULTLIB :msvcrt ). Why?   I have been several day to getting AD over SSL (LDAPS) I followed exactly this guide. I have Active Directory Certifica Service installed (stand alone Root CA), I can request cert, install certs. but whenever I want to test the connection using LDP.exe I got this famous error ld = ldap_sslinit("localhost", 636, 1); Error 0 = ldap_set_option(hLdap, LDAP_OPT_PROTOCOL_VERSION, 3); Error 81 = ldap_connect(hLdap, NULL); Server error: <empty> Error <0x51>: Fail to connect to localhost. I have been searching, I know there are many thing can cause of this error, I tried most thing I can then I decided to post it here. I tried to look if any error in system log, but nothing :/ (but I could be wwrong) can anyone tell me what else to look? • Question about using ServiceModelEx's "WCFLogbook" from "Programming WCF Services" book

  I am attempting to compile/run a sample WCF application from Juval Lowy's website (author of Programming WCF Services & founder of IDesign). Of course the example application utilizes Juval's ServiceModelEx library and logs faults/errors to a "WCFLogbook" database. Unfortunately, when the sample app faults, I get the following new error: "Cannot open database "WCFLogbook" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'Bill-PC\Bill'." I suspect the error occurs as a result of not finding the "WCFLogbook" database, which I believe still needs to be created. Included in the library source directory, there are two files -WCFLogbookDataSet.xsd and WCFLogbook.sql; which neither seem to be referenced anywhere within the library code. This leads me to beleive that the sql and xsd files are there to be used to create the database somehow in SQL. Could someone please advise me if I am going in the correct direction here and if whether these files can be used to create the database (and if so, how)?

• Wix - Upgrade always runs older installer msi and fails in trying to read old msi

  I'm having a problem though with the Windows caching of the installer. I'm trying to do an upgrade and each time the Windows installer is launching the installer of the older version. And when I do the upgrade it is complaining about problems with reading the older version's msi file (because its not in the same directory anymore). I did change the UpgradeCode and the ProductCode but kept the PackageCode the same. I also have different ProductVersion codes (2.2.3 vs 2.3.0). • Errors with shotgun gem and msvcrt-ruby18.dll when running my Sinatra app

  Greetings, Every time I make a change to a Sinatra app I'm working on and try to refresh the browser (located at http://localhost:4567/) the browser will refresh and, the console window seems to restart the WEB brick server. The problem is that the content in the browser window does not change. A friend of mine told me it was a shotgun issue and referred me to rtomayko's shotgun gem: http://github.com/rtomayko/shotgun On this page I read that the shotgun gem would basically solve my problem, allowing the changes made to my app to show up in the browser window after I refresh it. So I installed the shotgun gem. The installation was successful. To activate the shotgun function you have to type shotgun before the file name. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. I have no idea what msvcrt-ruby18.dll is but I know that installing either shotgun and/or mongrel created this problem. Where to go from here?   I have a problem getting Mercurial to recognise my editor. I have a file, c:\windows\notepad.exe and typing "notepad" at the command prompt works. I can commit by using the "-m" argument to supply the commit title. But a simple "hg commit" brings up the error.   I've been struggling with this for a few days now, haven't pinpointed the problem. I am trying to get OpenID to work in Rails 2.3 and Rails 3, using ruby-openid rack-openid open_id_authentication I am logging in using my viatropos.myopenid.com account, but it consistently returns this error: Server http://www.myopenid.com/server responds that the 'check_authentication' call is not valid What could that be from, it's not a very descriptive error... Does it have to do with something ruby-specific, or is this entirely on the OpenID protocol side of things? More specifically, I am using Authlogic and ActiveRecord, so could this be a problem with my User or UserSession models somehow? Or is it more to do with the header or request? • Exporting static data in a DLL

  I have a DLL which contains a class with static members. I use __declspec(dllexport) in order to make use of this class's methods. But when I link it to another project and try to compile it, I get "unresolved external symbol" errors for the static data. e.g. In DLL, Test.h class __declspec(dllexport) Test{ protected: static int d; public: static void m(){} } In DLL, Test.cpp #include "Test.h" int Test::d; In the application which uses Test, I call m(). I also tried using __declspec(dllexport) for each method separately but I still get the same link errors for the static members. If I check the DLL (the .lib) using dumpbin, I could see that the symbols have been exported.
