• Button INPUT that save datas and link at the same time

  Im doing a questionare (form) and i need to put a button submit that do two things : 1) Be a button type INPUT ( because I need to use this kind of button on my php code, I've if(@$_POST['Next']) for save the dates of the form in my DB). 2) That this button will have a link for go to the next screen of the questionare. I tried with a href="demo2.html" target="_blank"><input class="buttonNext" name="submit" type="submit" value="NEXT &#8592" ></a This code don't works but with IE browser on the page page appears a circle next to my button that are the link. So the button don't works, only save the data, but don't link to the next page. How can I solve it ?

• Remove margin between rows of overflowing inline elements

  I'm creating a tile-based game and am using block rendering to update a large list of tiles. I'm attempting to do this in the most simple manner, so I've been trying to work with HTML's default layouts. Right now I'm creating 'inline-blocks', omitting whitespace between the elements to avoid horizontal spaces in between them but when the blocks overflow and create a new line there is some vertical margining in which I do not know how to remove. • How can I observe the style on an element during mouse-over?

  We supply micro-site content to a client. They supply us with a HTML wrapper and we inject our content into it. I'm trying to debug an issue where our style sheet appears to be interfering with the style in their wrapper. Normally I'd use firebug or IE Developer Toolbar to select the element and I can see which styles are being applied, which are being overridden and where they are coming from. But this particular problem only exists when I hover the mouse over a link. Specifically, the link shrinks a little bit. Is there anything that I can use to see what the browser is doing with the styles when I hover the mouse over the link?

  Hello, I'm using Selenium for making some work: script should click at link followed by it's own address. For example, there is a method: clickAndWait. I have to pass it link title. But at my page this title changes, so I have to pass address to click at. Could you help me with this? p.s. I asked this question in selenium group, but still have no answer. upd: For exampe, I have such html-code: <a href="lalala.com">Some changeable title</a> <a href="another.com">Some changeable title</a> And selenium pseudocode: ClickAndWait('Some changeable title') But I have to click at site 'another.com', not 'lalala.com'. And link's title changes every time. Only link address is the same.

• Placing .htaccess file in var/www folder messes my website up...

  I am playing with mod_rewrite now, and have successfully enabled it. However, I need to put a htaccess file inside var/www/ in order to achieve what I want, which is to rename Urls simply... When I place it my website becomes very strange and nothing basically works... Is there any code I need to put into the htaccess file in order for things to act normally? Here is the htaccess file I have so far: Options +FollowSymLinks Options +Indexes RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/ad\.php RewriteRule ^(.*)$ ad.php?ad_id=$1 [L] My DocumentRoot is also set to var/www/ and my entire website root is there... Is there a clear differentiation between SRC and HREF? where/when to use SRC or HREF? I think they can't be used interchangeably. • Javascript Methodname is replaced with !==

  Hey! On the server lies a html file with javascript code included. This javascript code includes a method called something like "CheckObject". This file works for all users, except one specific (but important). He gets a javascript error and in his browser sourcode appears something unbelievable: The methodname "CheckObject" is replaced with "Check!==ect", means the "Obj" of the method name is replaced with !==. • Enable vertical scrolling on textarea

  I have a textarea that I want to enable vertical scrolling. When I exceed the height of the textarea, it increases in size. The scroll bar does not appear. I want that a vertical scroll bar appears and the users are not able to resize the text area as well. I searched online and tried solutions posted, but none seem to work. • Fickle IE Issues with Height:100%'

• Div smart width

This is because the div hit its max width of 300px and then wrapped the b's to a 2nd line. The wrapping is good, but then I would expect the div to then shrink back down to the width of the a's so that there's no empty space to the right. Is it possible to get it to do this? Tested in Chrome and FF.

• QuickTime movie disappearing from Javascript when scrolled offscreen in Firefox?

  I have a web page I'm creating that uses Javascript to control an embedded QuickTime player. I add the QuickTime movie to the page using the AC_QuickTime.js file from Apple (as described here - http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/documentation/QuickTime/Conceptual/QTScripting_HTML/QTScripting_HTML_Document/ScriptingHTML.html#//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40001525-2-SW1 ). Everything seems to be working fine - I can call methods on the QuickTime movie and control its playback (as well as get the current timestamp). The problem is that in Firefox, when I scroll down such that the QuickTime player is no longer visible, I get the following error every time I try to call a method on the QuickTime movie: Error calling method on NPObject! This does not occur in Safari. Why is this happening, and is there any way to work around this?

  I have an HTML table which has incrementing numbers starting from 0 in its cells (left to right, up to bottom). I fixed in CSS the width and the height of the cells (40px width, 25px height, in my case). When the table becomes larger, the numbers inside it becomes large also (for example, the last number is 1266356). This causes the cells to be wider than I defined in the CSS, which expands the whole table accordingly. Instead, I would like the font of the numbers to be smaller to keep the width of the cell 40px. How can I accomplish this using CSS / Javascript / jQuery ?

• How do I create a no-javascript url hash handler for my website?

  Ok, I'm not sure how this is normally done. But I've got a script that basically empties a div of content and then loads content from a div from a separate webpage, without reloading the current page. This works great. It's taken from this example actually, from net tuts (great site btw) http://nettuts.s3.amazonaws.com/011_jQuerySite/sample/index.html And the guy who wrote this even though about handling the url's since the url don't change when using his method. So he wrote a javascript snippet that looks up the url and loads the content accoringly. Which is not working btw. But I was thinking about people who don't have javascript enabled, or iPhone and iPad users ;) Copying URLs and sending to a friend won't work at all. So how is this typically done? And can it be done without javascript? Possibly by php?

• Layout with divs... can you have too many?

  What is the best practice for developing a layout? Is better to limit divs? I was looking through the html/css of some popular sites and they all seem to have divs within divs. For instance, a div for the entire page, a div for the topbar, a div within the top bar for the logo, search bar, etc. Is this a good practice? I suppose it's easier to position all the divs correctly and than place the necessary elements within the divs. It's what I've been doing this far but want to make sure I'm learning the correct approach. Any help on this is appreciated. Thanks!

• How to find text in images with the browser control+F

  Have HTML pages with many sections and each section has a section title displayed as an image (to use nice font). The problem is that even if I specify an 'alt' and 'title' text on each image/title the Ctrl+F browser functionality does not find the text. Thought two possible solutions but not very happy about them 1) Use embed fonts. Problem: Can not find the font required by client to use and not sure about copyrights. 2) Have the text in the image in DIV near the image but hidden from user view. Problem: Can search engines consider this keyword stuffing? Will browser find text if display:none Does anybody has a better solution? Thanks Riga

• Display popup window for a CD.

  Got a CD with a bunch of tutorials etc. done in HTML. What I want is to have a browser window open with no toolbars, fixed width/height etc. because the content is designed to fit nicely into such a window. You can do this with window.open and put a bunch of parameters in, but this triggers popup blockers and activex warnings. Also it looks kinda bad, as the original window doesn't close without a hack that also generates problems. Is there a nice way I can achieve this effect? I could perhaps compile an .exe to autorun on the CD to launch this, but I wouldn't know how to get an .exe to open a window with toolbars etc. turned off.

• PHP string enocding issue - Extra characters appearing

  I see extra characters like â showing because of encoding issues as I found out here - HTML encoding issues - "Â" character showing up instead of "&nbsp;" I understand that if I set the browser meta encoding to UTF-8, these will not affect anything but I need to strip these extra characters from the database for other purposes. For eg. : Text: ↑ should be become Text: ? But if I run it through utf8_decode it gives me Text: ??? For every other occurrence of the â character, it converts properly to a blank space. Any help will be appreciated.

• Making successive "jQuery.load()"s in nested pages work

  The main page ("parent.html") has a link that ajaxloads a page ("page1.html") into a div ("targetdiv") in the main page, like so: parent html: $("#targetdiv").html(loading).load('page1.html'); This works fine and "page1.html" is loaded into "targetdiv". The "page1.html" also has a link in it that is supposed to ajaxload another page ("page2.html") into "targetdiv" (onto itself), like so: page1.html: (in "targetdiv") $("#targetdiv").html(loading).load('page2.html'); This does not work; "html(loading)" comes up in "targetdiv" and stays there, "page2.html" is not loaded.
