• Nautilus window initial geometry with Gnome 3

  I would like to open one or more Nautilus windows from the command line or a script at certain positions on my screen/desktop while in Gnome3. I could do this in Ubuntu 11.10 by specifying the geometry. For example, to open the window at the bottom right corner from the command line I could use: nautilus --geometry 600x475-0-0 ~/mystuff But using Gnome3 the geometry option is ignored, or overriden. Is there a way to make this work?

  trouble chaining proxies hows it going? i am having trouble chaining proxies. i open terminal, run nano /etc/proxychains.conf i add the list like this [ProxyList] add proxy here ... meanwile defaults set to "tor" socks4 127.0.0.1 9050 socks5 59.21.114.99 5577 i open a new tab, run proxychains firefox all i get is this ProxyChains-3.1 (http://proxychains.sf.net) firefox opens but when i google my ip address it is not what it says in the list pleaqse help

  I have installed WordPress first installation on Apache server Its opening fine but when i logged in with my user id and password http://examplesite.com/wp-login.php It is showing blank in Firefox and in IE page not open with no errors.   For the last few days, my vlc player is not responding at all, when i try to double click any file or even run vlc without any file, it just doesn't open up. I tried to open it through terminal and it was working fine but there were no option coming on vlc screen and also if i close the terminal, vlc closes automatically. I can't figure how to make vlc back to its original way so that i can access any file through vlc. Any help will be appreciated..

  I'm working on a website where information is loaded from a calendar. If a user clicks on a link on the calendar, it displays information about that link. If I close that page, and then re-open it, it works properly on both IE and Firefox, but if I open it in chrome, and click on another item on the calendar it instead errors out. Is there a large difference in how chrome brings back tabs from how IE or Firefox do that would cause this?

  While working on the system suddenly if i open a random file or start browsing and on other random moments the system starts hanging or start responding slowly. In this situation, i can able to open the virtual console using the Ctrl + Alt + F1-F6 and type the top and list the processes. • How to restart Gnome Shell after a crash short of killing X?

  How can I restart Gnome Shell after a crash? Alt+F2 and restart won't work as the prompt crashed with the shell. Since windows focus is gone along with the shell as well, I can't type gnome-shell --replace in a terminal, either. The Ctr+Alt+F1 command line can't open the X display. So I'm left with killing X, thus loosing all open applications. Is there a keyboard shortcut for restarting Gnome Shell?

  I'm making a virtual mall using NetBeans IDE 7.3.1 I inserted images using the following steps: Drag and drop label onto frame Go to label properties Click on ellipsis of 'icon' option Import to project, select desired image Resize or reposition it accordingly. Then, I saved the project, copied the project folder into a pendrive, tried to 'Open Project' in mate's laptop, using the same Java Netbeans IDE version. When I tried to open the frames, they displayed empty labels, without images. What went wrong?

• Empathy minimizing automatically

  I am able to login into empathy, but the thing is whenever i am clicking over it from the right top task bar so that I could open it and see who all are online, it opens just for a second and minimises automatically. I am still logged in only, no issues with that , but i am not able to open the client at all, its like i am restricted tot he panel and its notifications only whenever someone sends me a message. so can anyone suggest a method via which I can stop this automation of empathy?
