• Why are some web clients requesting a page named "cache"?

  We see errors like this in the apache error log: [Thu May 17 14:32:35 2012] [error] [client 192.168.1.1] File does not exist: /home/www-data/mywebsite.com/r/cache, referer: http://www.mywebsite.com/r/1010 It is strange because: There is no reference in the code/url about a folder/file "cache". The folder/file "cache" does not exist The client is randomly trying to access a "cache" folder everywhere on the website. It is always trying to access the folder/file "cache" following this pattern: Pattern: /level1/.../levelwhatever/filename (referer) /level1/.../levelwhatever/cache We run a LAMP (Debian stable: PHP 5.3.3-7+squeeze9. We also use APC 3.1.3p1). We use Google Analytics and AdSense. We do not know how to reproduce the problem. Note: I replaced the user's IP in the code for privacy.

• Using command line to connect to a wireless network with an http login

  I'm trying to connect to a wifi network where it hijacks all requests and redirects you to a page where you have to agree to a terms of use before it lets you connect to the actual outside world. This is a pretty common practice, and usually doesn't pose much of a problem. However, I've got a computer running Ubuntu 9.10 server with no windowing system. How can I use the command line to agree to the terms of use? I don't have internet access on the computer to download packages via apt-get or anything like that. Sure, I can think of any number of workarounds, but I suspect there's an easy way to use wget or curl or something. Basically, I need a command line solution for sending an HTTP POST request essentially clicking on a button. For future reference, it'd be helpful to know how to send a POST request with, say, a username and password if I ever find myself in that situation in another hotel or airport.

• Can I set a hyperlink's display text from a document property?

  I'm trying to make a word document customizable through a document property that contains the base URL of all the links. I've managed to make the links themselves reference the document property like this: { HYPERLINK { QUOTE "http://{ DOCPROPERTY Host}/some/path" } } Changing the document property and updating the files makes the hyperlinks point to the correct URL. However, visually, nothing changes - the old URL is still shown as the display text of the hyperlink. Is there a way to make this work? Microsoft docs helpfully state You can edit the display text for the field by typing over it. but I can't figure out how that is supposed to work - even if I manually type over the hyperlink, it includes the edits in the field code instead of adjusting the display text. Currently attempting in Word 2002, but 2010 also available.

• Can't Read/Write the Hard disk used in NAS

  I've lately purchased a Synology DS212j and I intended to use my two 3.5" HDs into it. One of them was in used as an external HD. Thus when I install these two unit in NAS, it asked me to formatted in order to used with its format (I think it's ext3?) . I installed the Disks and omit the formatting option. I just got another 3.5" Hard Disk now. I've installed it in the NAS. everything's fine. However, when I take out the (used) HD from the NAS and install back in the standalone casing, I found out that it can't be read from both OSX an Windows 7. I've tried with ext2sd and I only found 2GB portion of the whole 1.5 TB Hard Disk. Here's another reference from EASEUS Partition Master

• Formatting a 5.25" floppy disk

  So after the massive trouble of finding a 5.25" floppy drive and a connecting it up, then changing the BIOS so it's set as my A: drive, I tried to format a couple of high-density 1.2MB floppy disks using the "format A:" command in Command Prompt. Both times it formatted only 160KB and left it at that. If I then check the amount of space on those disks, it then comes up as 160KB. Why is this the case? How can I get my the full value out of my 1.2MB? For reference, I have a Mitsubishi MF504C-318UG, which should support 1.2MB disks.

How would someone go about doing this on IIS7.5 for a ASP.NET MVC site? The plan so far: Register domain eg static.com, create a new website in IIS Manually copy the js / css / images folders from MVC as is so that they have the same paths on the new server Enable IIS gzip settings (js/css = high compression, images = none) Set caching with far future expiry dates <clientCache cacheControlCustom="public" /> in the web.config Never set any cookies on the static.com site Combine and minimize js / css Auto deploy changes in static content with WebDeploy Is this plan correct? And how can you use WebDeploy to deploy the whole web app to one server and then only the static items to another? • Make Google Chrome "Application" Windows Use High-Quality Icons in Windows 7

  Whenever I use Google Chrome's "Create Application" shortcut (which I heavily use, and recommend), the icons shown on the Windows 7 taskbar are really blurry, probably the result of the 16x16 favicon being stretched out. I'd like to be able to replace these with another, high-quality icon, but even when I replace the cached file, it doesn't update for some reason. For reference, here's the path to the icon, for Gmail, at least. • suddenly can't connect to Windows 7 PC from xbmc

  I have xbmc installed on a softmodded classic xbox and all of a sudden I cannot connect to the shared folders on my Windows 7 PC. Well, it can connect but it wants a username and password, but none exist on my computer. It's been several weeks since I last used it, but it was working fine then! and no particular changes I can think of aside from I guess a few Windows updates. I've seen reference online to Windows Live essentials causing issues with file sharing, but I don't even have that installed. And I made sure to tick 'turn off password protected sharing' in my advanced network setup. I had the guest account turned off and working fine before, and tried turning it on but no luck. I can access my shared folders fine from other Computers and a ps3. I've read a couple threads of similar situations on various folders and none of their solutions have worked.

  I am using Team foundation server / visual studio as a client, to manage my visual foxpro source code. everytime i "checkout for edit" all my folders and files are read only and when i open my projects, it is like if the project is opened for the first time, asking me if i would like to set the current path as the default path... this is causing other serious problems as bad reference to "missing library files", which are actually not missing. i know Visual foxpro is old stuff...i hope someone who went through the same errors could help me out. thanks a lot guys

• How to force Word to recompute image numbers?

  I have a word document containing images and tables. These have captions which are numbered, like "Image 1-Example of something". Later on I decided to rearrange some of chapters of my document. However numbering of objects remained the same, so the first image is image 8, the second is image 3, etc. I want to force Word to recompute image numbering so first image in document would be image 1, the second - image 2, etc. Is that possible? Will references (added through cross reference feature) to those objects be updated?

• Capture the build number for a remote-triggered Hudson job?

  I have a very simple inhouse web app from which certain Hudson builds (on another server) can be triggered remotely. I have no problem triggering the builds, but I don't know how to capture the associated build number for later reference. I'm using the buildWithParameters trigger, and the actual result of that call is just a mess of HTML - I don't believe it gives me back the build number. I started down the path of pulling the whole build list for the job (via the api), and then attempting to reconcile that list against my records - but that's much more complicated than I'd like it to be. I also considered sleeping for a few seconds after launching the job, and then grabbing the latestBuild from the Hudson api - but I'm sure that's going to go wrong at some point (someone will fire off two jobs quickly, and I'll get the association wrong).

• Booting Windows off new SSD from grub boots old Windows instead

  After a new SSD install, I have: Original Windows 7 on sdc1 (to be retired) Copy of Windows 7 on sdb2 A Windows system partition on sdb1 Ubuntu 12.04 on sda, /boot and ergo grub is on sda1 Grub is MBR on sda and set to boot from BIOS. I prefer to not change this; grub is great! I've run update-grub (the Ubuntu grub scripts are, at present, unaltered) and grub seems to be correctly configured as all options are available: I can boot any of the 3 Windows partitions and Ubuntu. I also ran the repair tool to get Windows to add both installations to BCD. The problem: choosing particular options seem to have no effect; the old version of Windows on sdc1 always boots. I'm stumped! My thought was to only boot Windows off sdb1, and then let BCD do the rest (present a menu to boot between sdb2 and sdc1, but I can't seem to get BCD to boot sdb2), but this has been unsuccessful. • How can I remap control+e to escape+control+e in iTerm2?

  I have set up a few custom keyboard shortcuts in iTerm2 to easily move the cursor around with the arrow keys, but now I'd like to remap control+e to be escape, control+e because bash 4.2 no longer auto-expands variables using the tab key. I know I've done the first part correctly in choosing the keyboard shortcut to remap, but I don't understand how to look up the correct escape sequence (or hex codes) to send in the bottom section: I reference they keyboard codes but that wasn't much help. How can I remap this, and how can I look up the codes in the future? (No luck with Google) Update @db - thanks.   I have added Global DNS server ip address to one of my Desktop ( please see the Network configuration screenshot ). and after that i have added my both domain controller ip address in host file, and it is working fine. ( please see the below screen-shot for your reference ) Can you please guide, what problem can i face if i kept my configuration in this way. but i am wondering, can this setting can create a problem? because the computer will be able to reach corp.abc.com easily, with the help of host file.

• Synergy configuration with multiple X screens

  I'm having a problem figuring out how to configure synergy to behave on a system with multiple X windows. On my desktop I am running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. I have two monitors, setup as separate X screens by preference as well as to enable me to rotate the left-hand monitor. I also have a laptop, which I have on the desk in front of me, lower than the other two monitors. I have a very simple synergy.conf: section: screens desktop: laptop.local: end section: links desktop: down = laptop laptop: up = desktop end It works, but on the desktop only on whichever screen I run synergys from in terminal (I haven't set it up to run at startup yet because I've been playing with the configuration). I can't find any information how to reference multiple screens on one system, and would appreciate any help.

• How to set up strongswan or openswan for pure IPSEC with iPhone client?

  I'm having trouble finding concrete, up-to-date information for how to set up strongswan or openswan to be used by the iphone's VPN client. My server is behind a budget linksys NAT router. I found this, but it mentions a whole bunch of .pem files with no reference for how to create them. Unfortunately, the "fine" manuals for both packages were quite inscrutable and unfriendly to a novice. I've set up OpenVPN before and managed to get serviceable results very quickly, but after a day and a half of reading out of date docs, I barely even know where to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

• Is there a way to get Postfix to both forward an e-mail *and* reject it via recipient_address_rejected

  In postfix, I'd like a way to deal with e-mail accounts that are no longer active by having postfix send the standard "Recipient address rejected" type message, but still forwarding the e-mail to another user. Thus, if someone sends an e-mail to [email protected], it will bounce the message back to the sender for future reference, but the mail will still get forwarded to [email protected] to deal with. .vacation and / or .forward files let me down because they will either reply or forward, but not both. Any tips?

• TPM had to be reintialized: Does a new recovery password have to be uploaded to AD?

  Some way some how, a user's machine couldn't get read the bitlocker password off of the TPM chip, and I had to enter the recovery key (stored in AD) to get in. No big deal, but once in the machine, I tried to suspend bitlocker per recovery documentation, and got an error message about the TPM not being initialized. I knew the TPM was on and activated in the BIOS, but Windows still made me reinitialize the TPM chip, and in the process it created a new TPM owner password. I found that odd because it prompted me to save this password or print it (there wasn't an option not to), but it made no reference of a recovery password, nor did it back this password up to AD. After the user took her laptop and left I started thinking that if the TPM password change, does the recovery password change also? If so, that new recovery password will need to be uploaded to AD, but MS' documentation doesn't make that clear, and doesn't back up the new recovery key (if one exists) to AD automatically when the group policy says it must, and from a network standpoint AD is accessible.

  I have a hierarchical structure in a database driven software application. Each row in parentTable 'owns' a number of rows in childTable. If the childTable does not have a value set in columnA then it should return the value specified in the appropriate row of parentTable columnB. Is it possible to implement a pointer or cell reference somehow so that I do not have to copy values from parent to child. (A change in parent could result in a large number of changes in child). If this is not possible, could anyone suggest a different approach?

• Can I use Server Monitor with a non-server Mac?

  I have a computer I use as a simple file and web server. I am simply desiring to be able to monitor load, traffic, memory usage, etc via Server Monitor. I have also downloaded an app for my iPhone which does the same thing, but it uses the same protocol that Server Monitor does. • Windows server 2003SP2 as LDAP replica master for Mac OSX 10.6

  Hello there, we have a single domain controller with Windows 2003 with few child. All the users are in the main DC. We have already created a connection from AD to Mac Xserve 10.6 and can read all the users, but: 1. If the DC goes down (or the net), Mac lose all the users, so no file access, no emails, no nothing. 2. the users are in read only. Mac admin cannot reset password, change attribute and so on. What we need is a stable environment where both AD admins and LDAP admins can manage the users; if one server goes offline the users of the other server should work (email, shared folders) just fine. Thanks in advance P.S. we already tried to connect the MacOSX to Windows LDAP, instead of AD, but we're unable to do it: MacOSX requires DNS IP (gotcha), user admin and password (ok) and a root LDAP password we're unable to find any reference of it in Windows 2003.

  SU Folks, What laptops do you know off that can run a 27" or 30" external monitor as a secondary display (Extending desktop onto second screen, without switching off the laptop's own built in screen) at the screens native resolution of 2560x1600. I'm not interested docks or USB video adapters etc. Just via the laptop's built in display ports. List the port used and cable as well if possible. Reference links / posts that confirm it are an added bonus. I'm hoping people who've tried it themselves and / or confirmed it can list specific models of laptops so we can build up a good list.

This socket client knows the public IP (85.xxx.xxx.x), the private IP (192.168.0.21) and the port. How I can access PC2 without port forwarding on the router?
