• Implementing traceback on i386

  Hi, I am currently porting our code from an alpha (Tru64) to an i386 processor (Linux) in C. Everything has gone pretty smoothly up until I looked into porting our exception handling routine. Currently we have a parent process which spawns lots of sub processes, and when one of these sub-processes fatal's (unfielded) I have routines to catch the process. I am currently struggling to find the best method of implementing a traceback routine which can list the function addresses in the error log, currently my routine just prints the the signal which caused the exception and the exception qualifier code. Any help would be greatly received, ideally I would write error handling for all processors, however at this stage I only really care about i386, and x86_64. Thanks Mark

• Canon MF3200 Printer Problems [closed]

  I bought a Canon MF3200 and used it on an old Windows laptop. The laptop broke, and now I'm trying to setup the printer on a laptop with Windows 7. I downloaded the new driver, and Windows was able to install it and mark it "Ready to Go." But whenever I try to print, an error comes up and it doesn't print. I tried to troubleshoot, to no avail. What else can I do? Any ideas on what the error might be?

  I am using will_paginate for pagination but I can't seem to use more than one condition at a time. For example, if I want to have a sql query that ends in "Where office_id = 5", then it's pretty straight forward, I can do that. but what if I want to do "Where office_id = 5 AND primary_first = 'Mark'"? I can't do that. I have no idea how to enter multiple conditions. Can you help?? • How do I avoid nesting forms when offering inline editing of lists with checkboxes for mass updates.

  A lot of sites offer the ability to edit lists of items inline as well as allowing multiple items to be selected via checkboxes and have an action performed all at once e.g. delete, mark as spam etc. But how do you implement this without violating html rules. I need one form for the checkboxes with individual submit_tags for the mass actions. But after a user clicks on an item in the list, another form via Ajax will be inserted within the checkbox form. How do I avoid doing this? I'm using rails and jQuery.

• Is there an difference between transient properties defined in the data model, or in the custom subc

  I was reading that setting the value of a transient property always results in marking the managed object as "dirty". However, what I don't get is this: If I make a subclass of NSManagedObject and use some extra properties which I don't need to be persistet, how does Core Data know about them and how can it mark the object as dirty when I access these? Again, they're not defined in the data model, so Core Data has no really good hint that they are there. Or does Core Data use some kind of introspection to analyze my custom class and figure out what properties I have in there?

  I'm doing an exercise out of the Python book that involves creating a class and a subclass. I am getting the following error when I try to run the program: AttributeError: 'Customer' object has no attribute 'name', when it tries to go through this bit of code: self.name.append(name) As this is my first time dealing with classes and objects in Python, I'm sure I am making some overt mistake somewhere, but I can't seem to figure it out. I've looked over the documentation for creating classes and writing member functions, and it looks correct, but it is obviously not. I want the Customer subclass to inherit the name, address, and telephone attributes from the Person superclass, but it doesn't seem to be doing so? • "Othello" game needs some clarification

  I am trying to see if my understanding of "othello" fame is correct or not. According to the rules, we flip the dark/light sides if we get some sequence like X000X = XXXXX. The question I have is if in the process of flipping 0-X or X- 0, do we also need to consider the rows/columns/diagonals of newly flipped elements? e.g. consider board state as shown in above image(New element X is placed @ 2,3) When we update board, we mark elements from 2,3 to 6,3 as Xs but in this process elements like horizontal 4,3 to 4,5 and diagonal 2,3 to 4,5 are also eligible for update? so do we update those elements as well? or just the elements which have starting as 2,3 (i.e update rows/column/diagonal whose starting point is the element we are dealing with, in our case 2,3?) Please help me understand it

  In working on larger Actionscript/Flash projects, I've started to really feel the need for some kind of "make" system, but I haven't found it yet. Does anyone know if it exists? Required features: Ability to associate SWCs with their source code and/or FLAs i.e. "this swc is compiled from this source" Ability to mark my current project as depending on these SWCs (either as compile-time or runtime libraries) A single, big shiny button, that when pressed does the following: Checks to see if any of the source files have changed, and if so, recompiles their associated SWCs Recompiles and relinks the main .swf, if necessary Runs the main .swf Have yet to find a way to get something like FlashDevelop to do this (but I don't know it well enough to be sure). • Send serialised object via socket

  Whats the best way to format a message to a server, at moment I'm serilising an object using the binaryformatter and then sending it to the server. At the server end its listening in an async fashion and then when the buffer size recieved is not 100% it assumes that the transfer has complete. This is working and the moment, and I can deserialise the object at the other end, I'm just concerned that if I start sending async this method will fail has message's could be blurred. I know that I need to mark the message somehow as to say that's the end of message one, this other bit belongs to message 2, but I'm unsure of the correct way to do this. Could anyone point me in the right direction and maybe give me some examples? Thanks

  I would like to kill a quoted string in a source file without having to mark the beginning of the string and kill-region, but just by placing the point anywhere inside the quoted string and pressing a shortcut. I tried to write a function in elisp for this, but I figured out that the file would need to be parsed from the beginning up to point to determine whether the point is inside quoted string, and to find the bounds of the quoted string(also handle the \")... But the file is already parsed by font-lock. So now I can find out if I'm inside quoted string: (defun inside-quoted-string? () (interactive) (print (find 'font-lock-doc-face (text-properties-at (point))))) But how do I get the bounds of the string? font-lock knows it, since it nicely highlights it in blue, but how do I get it?

I'm looking for a way to reconcile the two without having to process the list twice. Currently, I'm doing this: For Each f as FileInfo In FileListFromDatabase If f.Exists is False, mark it as deleted in the database Next For Each f as FileInfo In RecursiveListOFFilesOnDisk If Not FileExistsInDatabase, then add it Next Is there a better way to do this? I'd like to avoid converting all the matching files (of which most will be) to FileInfo objects twice. Since I'm a T-SQL developer first, I'm picturing something like an OUTER JOIN of the two lists where they don't match. Something LINQ-ish?

Here's my idea: Students which want to try out their self-written data structures need to: mark the type of their data structures using some sort of marker annotation e.g. @List public class MyList { ... } so that I know how to represent the data structure need to provide an iterator so that I can retrieve the elements in the right order need to annotate methods for insertion and removal, e.g. @add public boolean insert(E e) { ... } so that I can "bind" that method to some button. Do similar applications exist? I googled a little bit around but didn't find anything like that.

  What's the best and most flexible algorithm to detect any black (or colored pixel) in a given image file? Say I'm given an image file that could, say, have a blue background. And any non blue pixel, including a white pixel, is counted as a "mark". The function returns true if there are X number of pixels that deviate from each other at a certain threshold. I thought it'd be fastest to just simply iterate through every pixel and see if its color matches the last. But if it's the case that pixel (0,0) is deviant, and every other pixel is the same color (and I want to allow at least a couple deviated pixels before considering an image to be "marked), this won't work or be terribly efficient.
