  • deploying WAMP -> live site - any random tips?

    In the next few weeks I'll be taking my site from the localhost (WAMP) and puting it on a new server. This will be the first site, on my first server, so basically...i'm a noob! This must be an important moment for any independent web developer / small business so i'd love to hear about some experiences, mistakes and system default security holes that one should fix straight away...   • Not Jailbroken - getting Provisioning is not applicable for product type 'Application' in SDK Device

    Codesign warning: provisioning is not applicable for product type 'Application' in SDK Device - iPhone OS3.1'; ignoring.. Redownloaded my developer certificate, made a new provisioning profile, still getting this error. Searched the Xcode project and removed all lines referencing a Provisioning Profile, but that didn't seem to remove it from the project settings (went to show package contents, then opened the project file). Was originally on a different machine then transferred over, if that makes a difference? Thanks

    Looking for a large European developer/software conference, open-source-friendly, programming-language-neutral, platform-neutral, vendor-neutral. Any recommendations? apparently there briefly used to be a Euro OSCON (2004-2006? what happened?) some good language/app-specific ones like EuroPython, EuroSciPy, DjangoCon European BarCamps seem kind of fragmented, esp. for an English-speaking audience anything bigger or better? If there isn't anything, I wonder if O'Reilly would resurrect Euro OSCON.

  • Asynchronous Silverlight 4 call to the World of Warcraft armoury streaming XML in C#

    Hello - I have been stuck on this all weekend and failed miserably! Please help me to claw back my sanity!! Your challenge For my first Silverlight application I thought it would be fun to use the World of Warcraft armoury to list the characters in my guild. This involves making an asyncronous from Silverlight (duh!) to the WoW armoury which is XML based. SIMPLE EH? Take a look at this link and open the source. You'll see what I mean: http://eu.wowarmory.com/guild-info.xml?r=Eonar&n=Gifted and Talented Below is code for getting the XML (the call to ShowGuildies will cope with the returned XML - I have tested this locally and I know it works). I have not managed to get the expected returned XML at all. Notes: If the browser is capable of transforming the XML it will do so, otherwise HTML will be provided. I think it examines the UserAgent I am a seasoned asp.net web developer C# so go easy if you start talking about native to Windows Forms / WPF I can't seem to set the UserAgent setting in .net 4.0 - doesn't seem to be a property off the HttpWebRequest object for some reason - i think it used to be available. Silverlight 4.0 (created as 3.0 originally before I updated my installation of Silverlight to 4.0) Created using C# 4.0 Please explain as if you talking to a web developer and not a proper programming lol! Now I would actually like to add you know some controls to these tabs like textboxes(text edit). How do I do this? I go to my mail.xml using eclipse as my ide and go to layout view and I now get a NullPointerException so I can't even drag stuff onto the layout anymore. Thanks

    hi i am integrating authorize.net AIM api into my shopping cart. i have a developer account from auth.net and i am working locally. when i do auth.net api call, i get SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK. Details: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed i assume it's because i dont have ssl on my local machine. how do i get over this so i can test on my local machine? thank you

  • Can i openly speculate based on App rejection that the iPad has xxx MB of memory?

    If i were to calculate the iPad's amount of RAM based on just the one fact that my iPad App got rejected due to memory warnings twice, and me fixing it, would this violate the developer NDA? Obviously i know how much memory my App uses, how much the iPhone OS is likely to use and estimate the amount reserved for video memory, then i can deduct from that that the iPad has xxx MB of memory. I just wonder if i can say that number publicly without violating any NDA?

  • How do I specify a keys password with MSBuild for the purpose of using Hudson?

    We have just setup our hudson server to build .NET projects which seems to be working fine, however for projects that require a password when signing the assemblies I can not figure out how to tell hudson what the password is? For us the password is asked the first time a developer checks out the source code and they open with visual studio, how is this stored? Can we just place a secret file somewhere on the server?

    Is it a good practice to put js files of the "content" folders in inner folders representing their logical module? For example have a "datalayer" and "view" folders? I looked into some well known extensions, such as Firebug, and saw no such devision. I'm a Java developer so its seems much more natural to divide the files logically.

I added UIFileSharingEnabled as true to my plist and used Apple's example from the link below for CFBundleDocumentTypes, but can't seem to get it to work.   • Eclipse complains android:scrollbars and android:fadingEdge do not allow Strings.

    Having a problem in Eclipse with regards to an XML file. Eclipse complains that android:scrollbars and android:fadingEdge do not allow Strings. I checked the Android developer site and they do in fact accept strings in the xml file. A related question posed had the problem where there was a missing :android after xmlns. As you can see from the code the line beginning with xmlns is correct I believe. Here is the complete file contents:
