• (Windows) How to lock all applications (explorer, task manager etc.) and make only the browser activ

  I'm trying to run only the browser in the system - locking access to everything else. Only the supervisor can resume the normal functioning of the system after giving a password. This kind of activity is usually done by virus. Disabling the registry for Task manager etc. Does anyone know of any source available that does this? I might be able to pull it off in Windows XP. But have anyone tried this in Windows 7 ? The aim is to to emulate the Chrome OS on Windows. Only the browser. Nothing else.

  I'm in charge of having a BlackBerry app developed that translates the contents of a message from one language to another. So the aim would be to have a button at the bottom of a received message which says 'translate this'. I've heard that this kind of thing is possible using J2ME plus the native BlackBerry API. Can this be done for all kinds of messanging features on the Blackberry, or just some? ie I'm thinking SMS, email and BB messages. Secondly, given that the translation itself is done via a web request, I feel like this should be a fairly lightweight application. Would anyone care to hazard a guess how long it might take an experienced contractor to develop such an app?

So, I have the following code: if ($line =~ /;transcript_id "([A-Za-z0-9:\-._]*)(_[oxOX][_.][0-9]*)";/) { $num = $2; $line =~ s/gene_id "([A-Za-z0-9:\-._]*)";/gene_id "$1$num";/g; print $new $line."\n"; } The aim of my code is to change siRNA_Z27kG1_20543 for siRNA_Z27kG1_20543_X_1. However, my code does not produce that output. Why? I can't understand that. My regex needs to be as it is because I match other strings (this time with success). Thanks.

The save-temps flag allows us to save the intermediate files, helloworld.i, helloworld.s, helloworld.o Now i want to know exactly how the stack of this program changes during the execution. Can some one please tell me how to go about it. My aim of this question is to know exactly what all happens during the execution of any program.

• Struts. Go back to same page after an action

  Hi there, my situation is the following: I have a project with JSP, Struts and a lot of actions. Lets say that I have these 3 main groups {contacts.do, calendar.do and notes.do} with lot of actions in each of them. I have an action unrelated to all of them but since I didn't know where to put it I just chose contacts. My aim is after the action, to go back to the page I was but since the action is place in contacts it returns to the default action of contacts. Is there anything I could do for this purpose? The following are the things I aim for: Ability to upload data and files to the server. To be able to view my files on the server. To be able to download the files from the server to my android device. Ability of the server to send me updates on the files or notifications to my phone. I need a safe and secure way to do these things. I have tried these: HTTPPost requests onto the server and echoing the output accordingly and capturing the HTTPresponse and parsing it. For files I have tried using MultipartEntity, but I think that has been deprecated.

• Perl: Why does "use strict" not let me pass a parameter hash?

  I hava a perl subroutine where i would like to pass parameters as a hash (the aim is to include a css depending on the parameter 'iconsize'). • (UNITY3D) Get slerp to work just as LookAt(,Vector3.right) does

  Ive been working over a sidescroller shooter game. Ive got my sidescroller shooter character to look around with these : chest.LookAt(mousepos,Vector3.right); & chest.LookAt(mousepos,Vector3.left); (Left when the character is turned to the left and right when the character is turned to the right) so it wont aim in to any other axis... But when the mouse gets to cross the middle of the character and not around it it gets the rotation to make a small transportation between frames and it wont get all the way to there.. It'll just teleport to its correct rotation like lookat should. Well the question is, how do I get any quaternion slerp which works with a Time.deltTime to work as same as LookAt(,Vector3.right)? I must have the Vector3.right and left so it'll move trough 1 axis. Many thanks to anyone who helps me out. :)

• Can I put google map functions into a closure?

  I am trying to write some google map functionlity and playing around with javascript closures with an aim to try organise and structure my code better. • What things can I teach a group of children about programming in one day?

  I'm running a day for 30 kids aged 11-18 about computer game programming. They have all opted to do it, but they have no experience at all of programming. My main aim is for them to learn a few things: programming is hard/challenging programming is something they can learn to do being a computer games programmer != playing games all day a little more insight into how games actually work I'd thought of splitting them into two groups, of younger/less experience and older/more experience, then doing slightly different things. I'd considered showing them Scratch, Game Maker, before showing them the basics of Python and getting them to write a simple text based game (perhaps something like, computer picks a random number, you have to guess it in as few guesses as possible, computer says higher/lower for each guess). Does anyone have any ideas of things to do/show them/ways to teach them?

  I am working with a large list of points (each point has three dimensions x,y,z). I am pretty new with R, so I would like to know what is the best way to represent that kind of information. • [MS Access 2003 SQL] Switch is causing #error, why and how can I fix it...

  I have 3 fields in my table: start, end (dates) and length (number, might be blank). My Aim is to calculate an end date using start and length where end doesn't exist... I have: SELECT Switch((g.length<>0) And IsDate(g.end),DateAdd("m",g.length,g.start)) AS field FROM table g If there is no start, end or length, Access displays blank - this is fine. If there is no end, but start and length are ok, the calculated date is shown - again fine. BUT If there is no end, or length, but a start exists, access displays #Error I don't understand why, and can't fix it, please help!

  Already checked exisitng questions for this, but didn't find an exact match. My aim is to replace characters (like spaces) on a webpage with a small image using css. Example: <p><span>This is a text</span></p> becomes: <p><span>ThisIMGisIMGaIMGtext</span></p> (where IMG stands for a visible image (middot-pic for a space f.e.)) I cannot think of a suitable css selector. But myabe one of you guys (or girls) know a solution. Is this possible at all?

• What do I need to know before working on an IM application?

  I'm looking into building an IM-type application using Java stack (for the server at least). I'd be interested to see any information/advice on how applications like Skype/AIM/MSN work, as well as know any technologies/APIs that might be relevant. Without giving away the idea itself, it's perhaps more akin to Google Wave than Skype, but information useful for either is very welcome. Specific points I have already thought of include: Server Vs P2P... for reasons of logging my system will require all communication to go through a central server. Is this how other IM tools work... especially when audio/video comes into the equation? Cross-communication with other systems. Are there APIs for this or do all IM providers work hard to keep their protocol secret? The nature of what I'm designing means integration could probably only be limited, but it definitely seems worthwhile from a business perspective

  My aim is to make the web.config not readable by external users, but my application should be able to access it. Is there any way to do this??? I have tried the following way, but how to set the application to use string instead of web.config??? I want to encrypt my web.config file so that others do not open the file using any editor like notepad. But my application should be able to use the same web.config file. I could encrypt the web.config file and decrypt it inside the application and I saved the entire web.config to a string file. Now I want to use this string variable instead of web.config(now in encrypted form, which cannot be accessed by the application).

• TPageControl tab area OnMouseEnter OnMouseLeave events

  Hello, I need to catch the "OnMouseEnter" and "0nMouseLeave" for a certain area of the TPageControl component. With that specific area I mean the whole "tab header" rectangle. The problem is, that the page control doesn't catch the messages (I'm catching internal control messages CM_MOUSEENTER and CM_MOUSELEAVE) in the "empty" space. The aim for me is to draw a small arrow in the right empty side when user hovers in the red framed area (and drawing is just piece of cake) and erase it when leaves this area. And I'm don't care about the overflow of the tabs (which causes to draw scrolling double button) - that will never happen.

  I have the following XML: Picture 1 Picture 2 Picture 3 While this XSL does what is expected (output the attr of the first picture): It seems to be not possible to do the same inside the variable declaration using xsl:copy-of: Curious: If I just select "$FirstPicture" instead of "$FirstPicture/@attr" in the second example, it outputs the text node of Picture 1 as expected... Before you all suggest me to rewrite the code: This is just a simplified test, my real aim is to use a named template to select a node into the variable FirstPicture and reuse it for further selections. I hope someone could help me to understand the behavior or could suggest me a proper way to select a node with code which could be easily reused (the decission which node is the first one is complex in my real application). • Command line does not execute my parameters

  I have created a batch file to run an application automatically but it seems my CMD does not run it. I typed this (using notepad as an example): CMD /C "C:\notepad2\notepad2.exe" If I run this from Windows Vista it worked. But running this from Windows Server 2008 (64-bit) it just doesn't work. I even try using that line from the Run menu but no go. What do I do? My aim is to run a scheduled task that runs the batch file every now and then.

• Is drupal cms suitable for this?

  My aim is to create a website where I can add some test content along with pictures. Then, what exactly I need is an easy way to add those into the site. Say, I have designed (in photoshop) a certain theme for this purpose, and now I am wondering if I could use drupal for the matter? Or should I create a website from scratch? Which route is the easiest? Apply the theme to the drupal? I've just never used no CMS, that's why I ask.
