• Dir and Findstr commands taking a long time to complete in Batch File

Folders will be the same; not more than 100 folders and their sub-folders, and there will only be 2 or 3 files at time in any one of the folders. Now the issues is that for one folder it works perfect, but for 80 to 90 folders it is taking too much time. I think it's because of findstr and the different extensions used. Is there any way to make it faster?

• K8NDRE motherboard in server fails to complete BIOS load with error 0078

  K8NDRE motherboard with 4 sata drives, was running fine. Drives had raid-0 and raid-1 partitions, using mdadm. The onboard raid is disabled. Upon reformatting the drives, setting a new partition structure and new raid partitions, the bios fails to finish loading, with 0078 in the bottom right corner. Tried using completely new set of drives, and bios worked fine. Able to boot from a usb, format the drives, partition them, start raid, and then installed os. Reboot and received the same error from the bios, 0078. Works fine if I unplug the sata drives. Any thoughts? Physical inspection reveals no damage cables, connectors, or capacitors. Server was running happily for over a year, and this is the first problem it has had. Per Michael Hampton's answer: The drives, unjumpered and supporting sata III worked fine originally, and worked fine for formatting and having new partitions and raid installed on them. I did try jumpering one, with no change. If I put a brand new unformatted drive in, the motherboard recognizes it and I can proceed with formatting and installing. When I reboot, I get the 0078. I have 4 sata cables-the board supports 4 drives, so I tried each and no change. I am close to calling the motherboard done.

• Restoring file properties but not the complete files, from backup

  While copying data from my old storage on a Linux computer to the new (linux-based) NAS, I accidentially failed with getting the properties (most important: the modify dates) along to the new location. I also continued to use/modify the files at the new location and hence, cannot just copy it all over again. What I would like to do is a diff between files in the old vs. the new storage, and for those being identical, restore the properties from Linux storage to the NAS storage files. Is there a clever way such as a script or a tool to do this? I could either run it on the Linux box or in worst case from a remote Windows computer. Grateful for any suggestions. /Jon

  This has happened the last two times I've done updates to this system, and I really have no idea what is going on. It is installing a only a month's worth of updates. It only responds to ping and no services are up, so I can't view the system remotely (I have to hook up a monitor to see this message). In the past I've just restarted the system at this point and it eventually finishes updating. I want to know what I can do to avoid this situation, how to diagnose what is going on, and how to get any kind of remote access during the updates. Edit: I can start the machine in safe mode (where I did nothing but backup some files). I restarted and it no longer tries to do a windows update, just goes to the desktop where everything seems extremely broken. I can click on some things, but not launch most programs. I guess all I can do at this point is do a system restore or something.

• Block complete network access for one local user

  Well, this is quite trivial question but I could not find a satisfactory answer even after trying many search queries both here and on Google. I want to share my PC with my room-mate. And I don't want him to access ANY network(LAN included). So, I can create an account for him and block network access for the same. I would prefer avoiding any third-party tools as far as possible. It's a simple home PC hooked up to a router for internet. No domain and other stuff. (Technically, guest account can achieve this. But somehow, the guest account on my PC has network access!)

  Possible Duplicate: How to copy and move mysql database Dump all databases with SSH access I'm setting up a new dev machine, and I have the old one sitting right next to me. I'd like to do an exact copy of all MySQL structures and data from the old machine to the new. Nothing fancy needs to happen (it's a dev machine). No replication. I don't care about "downtimes" etc. Is there a super simple way to do this? For example, I have SSH on the old server, can I just use Nautilus, do a connect to server, and then transfer a folder over, replacing another folder with it and be done? It's the same version of MySQL on both sides. Same version of Ubuntu. Same in most respects.

  I have scripted my SQL server 2000 database and created it on a 2008 server. I update the database using a ADO .Net Dataset designed in VS 2003. My problem is certain tables that have identity fields don't have these fields as auto increment in the dataset? I could set these to auto increment in code, but this seams like a work around.   Has anyone used javascript/ajax to take data from one form field and put it into another? I'm trying to create a form that when one text input is filled out a second is auto-populated with the first letter of the word that is in the first text input.   On Linux (Gnome desktop) how do you prevent one of the partitions on an external USB drive auto-mounting when it attached to the machine? I don't just want to prevent the Nautilus window from popping up -- I want that partition not to mount. I seem to remember that you create a hidden file in the root of the file system, but I can't remember what it's called. • Sophos Enterprise Console 4.5, Mac Client 7 Not Auto-Populating SEC Info

  I have Sophos Endpoint Security and Control, which includes Sophos Enterprise Console (SEC). I'm currently running version 4.5 of SEC, which is an older version. I subscribe to Mac updates, and SEC generates a binary Mac installer for me to use on Mac endpoints (Version 7 for Mac, also an older version). However, when I run the installer on Mac endpoints, it installs fine but then never auto-fills out the location of the update server, which is on a network share, and the account credentials used to access it, which I do not know and were generated by Sophos automatically. Previously, I had been able to use the SEC-generated installer to install and run Sophos on a Mac seamlessly; the update location information and account credentials were automatically filled during login, I ran the installer and it was perfectly set up. Now, however, Sophos installs on a Mac but never updates because it doesn't have the update location OR credentials. Has anyone else run across this problem or know why it is happening?   I am having problems trying to run web browser software on the local network through the proxy. When running off the profile drive which is on a network share, the system is unable to auto-detect proxy settings. When running off the local C drive, the browsers are able to correctly autodetect the settings. The error from the browser is about it being unable to fetch the proxy configuration file. Is this some form of authentication preventing it retreiving the settings when running of the network location? PS. Would this be better off on superuser?

• Auto-responder rule in Outlook 2010 produces double signature (but only to certain emails)

  I have set up an auto-responder in Outlook 2010 using a custom template, as a staff member will be on vacation for 6 weeks. It works perfectly, apart from the fact certain people receive two signatures at the bottom of the message instead of one. When reviewing the "sent" folder, there is no sign of double signatures. In the custom template, there is only 1 copy of the signature. Signatures are set to be applied automatically to new messages or replies- however, if I remove the signature from the template, then it seems no one receives a response with the signature. People sending from Hotmail accounts do not receive a duplicate signature. Gmail users do see a duplicate signature. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

• How to use auto-discovery with iDRAC Enterprise?

  All I want to do is: have "auto discovery" enabled on my iDRAC enterprise at the factory rack the server, cable iDRAC to dhcp-enabled management network have the iDRAC DHCP, find the "Provisioning Server", and get updated with login credentials (for us to use with racadm, idrac webui, etc.) I don't need to do any configuring of the system, install OS, or anything else. I just want idrac to dhcp out of the box, and end up with an account that can be used to login. All the docs I can find on Dell's site refer to a "Provisioning Server", but I honestly can't tell if they have some reference product, or if they only have software that "integrates" with other vendor's existing management systems. I'd be happy to set up whatever is needed, I just can't find something that explicitly describes the process (only references to the fact that it is supported).
