• DurandalJS vs AngularJS?

  I'm looking for a JS framework to build an SPA and found DurandalJS and AngularJS. Can anyone compare these two frameworks? I did find many articles that compares AngularJS and KnockoutJS, and they say AngularJS is more than data binding, so I think DurandalJS may be the one to compare. I did a little research on AngularJS, it is good but one thing is bad: the $ prefix does not work when minified, although there is an ugly workaround. And someone said Twitter Bootstrap does not work well with it (I didn't check). For DurandalJS, I still cannot find the samples (http://durandaljs.com/documentation/Understanding-the-Samples/), so it's hard to say. PS: are they working well with TypeScript? Best regards, Zach

  Hi, My understanding is that there are two obvious places in a Grails app where one can do meta-programming: The init closure of Bootstrap.groovy The doWithDynamicMethods closure of a plugin The meta-programming I'm referring to here should be visible throughout the metaprogramming, typical examples include adding (or replacing) methods of 3rd party classes. String.metaClass.myCustomMethod = { /* implementation omitted */ } The disadvantage of (1), is that the metaprogramming won't be applied when the application is dynamically reloaded. The disadvantage of (2) is that I need to create and maintain an entire plugin just for the sake of a little metaprogramming. Is there a better place to do this kind of metaprogramming? Thanks, Don

• How do I get the Zend_Application's database into a model class?

  I have a Zend_Framework application, which has a whole bunch of model classes. I need these model classes to be able to access the application's database (naturally). Currently I've put this in my index.php: Zend_Registry::set('db', $application->bootstrap()->getBootstrap() ->getPluginResource('db')->getDbAdapter()); And then $db = Zend_Registry::get('db'); in each of my model classes that require the database. But this seems like a horrible horrible hack. Am I missing something basic here?

  Hi, I have 2 ears say Ear1 and Ear2 for my application,which are deployed in clusters.Ear2 is having Ejb which is being called from Ear1. EJB reference is required for communication between Ear2 and Ear1.i am setting the below value to Target Resource JNDI Name: corbaloc::ClusterServer1:2810,:ClusterServer2:2810/cell/clusters/Cluster1/ejb/com/mycompanyName/projectName/ejb/facade/EjbFacadeHome But i am getting the below error Caused by: javax.naming.ServiceUnavailableException: A communication failure occurred while attempting to obtain an initial context with the provider URL: "corbaloc::mums00100251.in.net.intra:2810,:mums00100392.in.net.intra:2810/cell/clusters/Cluster1/ejb/com/bnpparibas/tradefinance/ejb/facade/EjbFacadeHome".   How to have Dojo support disabled by default and just enable it if you want to use it ? I have the problem that dojo support is automaticly loaded when using any form. Even without any dojo elements.   Hi, i am building a web service with zend and i am using modules to separate my api versions. Ex: "applications/modules/v1/controllers", "applications/modules/v2/controllers" have different set of actions and functionality. I have made "v1" as the default module in "application.ini" file: resources.modules = "" resources.frontController.defaultModule = "v1" resources.frontController.moduleDirectory = APPLICATION_PATH "/modules" resources.frontController.moduleControllerDirectoryName = "controllers" I have written the following in my bootstrap file: $router = $front->getRouter(); $r1 = new Zend_Controller_Router_Route_Regex('api/v1/tags.xml', array('module' => 'v1', 'controller' => 'tags', 'action' => 'index')); $router->addRoute('route1', $r1); Suppose, if this is my url: http://localhost/api/v1/tags.xml then it belongs to version 1 (v1). But i dont want to write many routes like this one, so i want to know how can i track the version from the regex url and dynamically determine the api version to be used (1 or 2).

  Hi, I have written a Lempel Ziv compressor and decompressor. I am seeking to improve the time to search the dictionary for a phrase. I have considered K-M-P and Boyer-Moore, but I think an algorithm that adapts to changes in the dictionary would be faster. I've been reading that binary search trees (AVL or with splays) improve the performance of compression time considerably. What I fail to understand is how to bootstrap the binary search tree and insert/remove data. I'm not actually quite sure the significance of each node in the binary search. I am searching for phrases so will each character be considered a node? Also how and what is inserted/removed from the search tree as new data enters the dictionary and old data is removed? The binary search tree sounds like a good payoff since it can adapt to the dictionary, but I'm just not quite sure of how it's used.

• Zend Framework Modules can't find/load Models..

  For some frustrating reason, I configured some Modules, which seemed to work fine, However I cannot load a Modules Models. If I move the Models to the Default they load, but I just can't get the Framework to find them locally.. Example: My Modules Directory is: application\modules\books\models\books.php (books is my Model) class Application_Module_Books_Model_Books extends Zend_Db_Table_Abstract {} I also tried.. Books_Model_Books, Model_Books, books, Modules_.. you name it I tried it :) My controller is in the Books Module, and is an Index Controller, and it can never find the Local Model. I'm using Application.ini and it is configured this way: resources.frontController.controllerDirectory = APPLICATION_PATH "/controllers" resources.frontController.params.displayExceptions = 1 resources.frontController.moduleDirectory = APPLICATION_PATH "/modules" I have a BootStrap in the Modules Directory: class Admin_Bootstrap extends Zend_Application_Module_Bootstrap { } I'm on Zend Framework 1.10, and ideas.. ?

But now I want to add also a id to the ul element.   I am working with zend framework, PHP , Ldap on Ubuntu. I am authenticating users from ldap using zend library. Now I want to change user's ldap passwords using zend. Any Idea? This is the method that I am using to get zend authentication adapter. • QML 5.3 iOS compilation of pure QML app

  I have an application written in QML. Initially, I used the standard C++ bootstrap for the app. int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { QApplication app(argc, argv); // A bunch of components and data models written in C++ QQmlApplicationEngine engine; engine.load(QUrl(QStringLiteral("qrc:///main.qml"))); return app.exec(); } The bulk of the app is in QML and the more I work with QML, the happier I am with it and the more I feel comfortable converting the C++ pieces to QML. So, it comes to one risk that I wanted to ask about. If I convert the app to a pure QML application like the kind generated by the Qt Quick UI application wizard with no C++ and designed to be run with qmlscene will I be able to compile it for iOS when the time to port it comes or will I end up just converting it back to the C++ loader form? TL;DR Can pure QML (no C++) apps be compiled and run on iOS devices?

• Routing zend request through a default controller when controller not found.

  Below is a function defined in my Bootstrap class. I must be missing something fundamental in the way Zend does routing and dispatching. What I am trying to accomplish is simple: For any request /foo/bar/* that is not dispatchable for any reason try /index/foo/bar/. The problem I'm having is when the FooController exists I get Action "foo" does not exist. • Distributed, persistent cache using EHCache

  I currently have a distributed cache using EHCache via RMI that works just fine. I was wondering if you can include persistence with the caches to create a distributed, persistent cache. Alongside this, if the cache was persistent, would it load from the file store, then bootstrap from the cache cluster? Basically, what I want is: Cache starts Cache loads persistent objects from the file store Cache joins the distruted cluster and bootstraps as normal The usecase behind this is having 2 identical components running on independent machines, distributing the cache to avoid losing data in the event that one of the components fails. The persistence would guard against losing all data on the rare occasion that both components fail. Would moving to another distribution method (such as Terracotta) support this?

  Hi, I'm sure this is a simple question. But how do I get Wordpress at startup to ignore trying to load a Page or Post and instead load my custom page? When in the Wordpress bootstrap process is it decided which php-page is going to load? I will have the following url: bt.local/wp/ads/1 And would like a php-page called ads.php to be loaded and load the ad with adid = 1. What's the best way to solve this? (there's no Post called ads and there's no Page called Ads). Thank you! KR Josef

• Detecting if SQL Server Compact Edition 3.5 SP2 x64 is installed?

  I am building an installer and I want to bootstrap SQL Server Compact Edition 3.5 SP2. The problem is that I am looking for the registry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v3.5\ENU\DesktopRuntimeVersion. The reason that is a problem is that for 64-bit machines SQL CE requires that both the 32-bit and 64-bit installers are run. You can't install the 64-bit version until the 32-bit version is installed. As soon as the 32-bit version is installed the registry key is populated and my bootstrapper, dotNetInstaller detects that the registry key is there and the x64 version is never installed. Any ideas on how to tell if the x64 version is installed even if the x32 is installed?

• Best place to check user authenticity in a back end module where all pages are only available to mem

  I've a backend module which could only be accessed by only authorized members. So I need to check authenticity for all actions and for all controllers. Currently I'm doing it inside preDispatch() functions inside controller classes. So it takes care of all the actions inside that controller. But still I've to do it for all controllers. Is there a place I could check it for all the controllers as well. So basically I want one place authenticity check for whole backend module. Can I do it in bootstrap?

• Grails domain class initialization

  Hi, My Grails app has the following Spring bean defined in spring/resources.groovy calendarService(CalendarService) { bean -> bean.initMethod = "init" } This method looks something like: class CalendarService { void init() { User.findByEmail("[email protected]") } } When I call the dynamic finder findByEmail I get a MissingMethodException. My guess is that I'm trying to call this method too early, i.e. before the domain classes have had the dynamic finders added to their metaclass. One solution would be to call CalendarService.init() myself from Bootstrap.init, rather than instructing Spring to call it, but is there a better solution? Thanks, Don

  I am desesperatly trying to get some google font faces to work with Raphael (SVG / VML rendering JavaScript library) on IE8. At first i tried the google fonts code. My second try has been to download and convert the fonts to host my own more complete css. Now the fonts show in the html part of the page (inside a modified bootstrap nav dropdown), but it does not work in the VML canvas (generated by Raphael).   I am in a position where I could become a team leader of a team distributed over two countries. This team would be the tech. team for a start up company that we plan to bootstrap on limited funds. So I am trying to find out ways to minimize upfront expenses. Right now we are planning to use Java and will have a lot of junit tests. I am planing on using github for VCS and lighthouse for a bug tracker. In addition I want to add a continuous integration server but I do not know of any continuous integration servers that are offered as a web service. Does anybody know if there are continuous integration servers available in a software as a service model? P.S. if anybody knows were I can get these three services at one location that would be great to know to.

• CDI, Hibernate JSF on jetty

  I am trying to make Weld, hibernate, jsf combination work on Jetty. The best approach I found on internet was http://www.laliluna.de/articles/2011/01/12/jboss-weld-jpa-hibernate.html . It was a pain to clean up the dependencies, but I managed to go through that. Now it works for me except the initialization part of the EntityManagerStoreImpl. It seems the weld listener for jetty does not produce a ContainerInitialized event, so the init method which observes this event is never called. Could you tell me please what is the best way to bootstrap this class in the jetty environment? thanks!
