  • How do you obtain a formatted date and time for the current locale in C?

    What C function should I call to obtain a formatted date and time for the locale where the program is being executed? I'm asking this question because I have run into a problem using the ClamAV daemon API. The VERSION command returns the date and time of the latest virus definitions, but the code uses a call to ctime to format it. As far as I can tell ctime does not format the datetime according to the current locale and uses the English abbreviations for days of the week and the month in the returned string. This causes problems as my Java program which uses the ClamAV API does respect the current locale and thus expects the day of the week and month name to have the local abbreviations. The datetime format would need to be in the same format as that produced by ctime: Www Mmm dd hh:mm:ss yyyy Where Www is the weekday, Mmm the month in letters, dd the day of the month, hh:mm:ss the time, and yyyy the year. I could rewrite the Java program to always assume English dates but I'd be happier to submit a patch to ClamAV as it seems like a bug on their side to me.

    I've built a reservation form for a taxi company which works fine, but I'm having an issue with users making reservations that are due too soon in the future. Since the entire form is kind of long, I first want to make sure the user is not trying to make a reservation for less than an hour ahead of time, without them having to fill out the whole form.   • Accessing appropriate array of double arrays in order of last created.

    I have an array of double arrays, they are within a specified time window (8am-5pm), and are in order of last created over a period of several days. They are all timestamped and as such I have access to all C# DateTime methods. I then have a different iterative function that goes in the same order of the array of double arrays, however it isn't within a specified time window, it's 24/7. I want to access from this iterative function, the appropriate double array from the one within the window. Let's say that it's 4:30PM on DayOfYear 52, I'd like to access the last double array less than or equal to 4:30PM on DayOfYear 52. I'd expect the same double array if the time were 12:30AM on DayOfYear 53. However, if it were 9:00 AM of DayOfYear 53, well then I'd expect it to return something from the DayOfYear 53, less than or equal to 9:00AM. I think you get the idea. So I'm a having a bit of trouble grokking how to do this. Is anyone willing to offer a starting point or how they'd approach it? Edit: It is not a literal double[][], it is exactly as Anthony Pegram says: Dictionary<DateTime, double[]>

    I have a GridView with a TemplateField column which shows a DateTime from a DataSource. <Columns> <asp:CommandField ShowEditButton="True" /> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Start Date"> <EditItemTemplate> <asp:TextBox ID="txtDateStart" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("dtDateStart", "{0:dd/MM/yyyy}") %>'</asp:TextBox> </EditItemTemplate> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Label ID="Label1" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("dtDateStart", "{0:dd/MM/yyyy}") %>'></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> </Columns> Displaying the date in the correct format works as it should. Note that the format starts with DAY followed by MONTH. When I switch to edit mode, change the date in the TextBox to '31-01-2013' and press the GridView's update-link i get an error: Cannot convert value of parameter 'dtDateStart' from 'System.String' to 'System.DateTime' The error is generated by the GridView not my own code. It happens before the UpdateMethod of my DataSource is called. When i type '01-31-2012' the data is processed correctly and the value is updated into the database. Somehow when the date is displayed it uses format dd-MM-yyyy (just as I need it to) But when it reads the new value form the TextBox it uses MM-dd-yyyy Can somebody please help me?

  • In CakePHP, how do I create a form to list models withing a date range?

    I have a very simple model that includes the auto-filled field much like 'created'. (DateTime format). I'd like to use the Form helpers if possible, to validate the date fields and whatnot. I'd like a simple form with a "Begin Date" (YMD, 12 hours), and an "End Date" (same format). There is already a controller action set up as follows: function view_between($start_date = null, $end_date = null) { // ... stuff that works correctly when the URL is manually entered. } Have I defined the controller wrong, or how can I pass these values into that function? The reason I'm stuck is because I tried adding a $form->input('my_datetime_field' ...) twice, but obviously the name/id were the same on the respective elements. I have also tried using $form->dateTime(...) with similar results. I'm not sure how to uniquely identify a Begin and End date selection, when it should interact with a single field. Am I going about this wrong? A kind shove in the right direction should suffice.

    Hi! I'm working on a little fitness tracker in order to teach myself Django. I want to graph my weight over time, so I've decided to use the Python Google Charts Wrapper. Google charts require that you convert your date into a x coordinate. To do this I want to take the number of days in my dataset by subtracting the first weigh-in from the last weigh-in and then using that to figure out the x coords (for example, I could 100 by the result and increment the x coord by the resulting number for each y coord.) Anyway, I need to figure out how to subtract Django datetime objects from one another and so far, I am striking out on both google and here at the stack. I know PHP, but have never gotten a handle on OO programming, so please excuse my ignorance.     I have a sqlite3 table that I'm trying to map to an object in objective-C. One attribute of the table is 'completed_at' which is stored as a DATETIME. I want to create a property on my objective-C class (which inherits from NSObject) that will map well to the 'completed_at' attribute. Objective-C has an NSDate type but I'm not sure if that will map directly?

    I'm trying to transfer some data from Access to SQL Server 2000 (there are no other way to do this sadly), I'm using Access to mssql to do the job. The program fails everytime it finds a datetime in this fashion: 03/07/2009 10.17.00 While it imports date like this: 29/12/2008 I don't understand where this problem come from so I ask you for your help. Now, if someone asks you that how I am handling non-machine timezone, is that question refering that how the code will handle in case if the application gets deployed to machines in different time zones?
