  • jquery drag and drop animation

    - by Cameron
    I have some UI functionality for drag and drop, but when an element is dropped, the animation makes it flit about all over the place for a split second before it appears in the newly dropped location. Can anyone advise how to tackle this, so that the draggable element moves more cleanly into place on success? ... success : function() { $(ui.draggable) .parent().droppable("option", "disabled", false) .end() .appendTo(droppable) .droppable("option", "disabled", true); }, ...

  • Drop down view in cocoa

    - by coffeebean
    I'm looking to create a 'drop down' view that falls in front of the main window. An example of this would be the window that drops down when you click 'Advanced' in System Preferences-Networking. If someone could point me in the right direction documentation-wise that would be great. Thanks in advance.

  • Implementing hoverIntent for Drop Down Menu (coming from click_event)

    - by stormeTrooper
    I've just recently started programming, I was hoping for some help. I have a drop down menu that was originally activated by click_event, however I want to now implement hoverIntent in order to make the menu drop. The issue I am having now is being able to use the menu, because whenever I invoke the menu now, once I leave the area that activates the menu, the menu closes. If you could explain to me like I'm five, I'd appreciate it, thanks :) The code I am using as follows: JavaScript: function setupUserConfigMenu() { $('.user_profile_btn').hoverIntent( function (event) { $('#user_settings_dropdown').animate({height:['toggle', 'swing'] }, 225); }, function (event) { $('#user_settings_dropdown').animate({height:['toggle', 'swing'] }, 225); }) } HTML: <li> <a href="<%= "#" %>" class="user_profile_btn" title="Your profile page"><%= truncate(current_user.full_name || current_user.name, :length => 28) %> <div class="arrow_down"></div></a> <ul id="user_settings_dropdown"> <li> <a href="<%= current_user.get_url(true) %>"> <%= image_tag current_user.get_thumb_url, :size => "30x30" %> <div> <%= truncate(current_user.full_name || current_user.name, :length => 40) %> <br> View profile </div> </a> </li> <div class="grey_line"></div> <li class="settings_list_item"> <%= link_to "Settings", edit_user_registration_path %> </li> <li class="settings_list_item"> <%= link_to "About", "/about" %> </li> <li class="settings_list_item"> <%= link_to "Logout", destroy_user_session_path, :method => :delete %> </li> </ul> </li>

  • Drag and Drop and identify locations with java

    - by out_sider
    I'm trying to do something quite simple, but I'm having a hard time finding good examples on the net to what I want specifically. I'd like to somehing very similer to what it's here: Dao It's a simple game called DAO and I just need to have a background image with 16 squares (4x4) and drag and drop the images (pieces) on each square to the others. I'm developing the interface using swing and I simply want to know a good place to find tutorials for such implementations or a simple suggestion on how to do it. Thanks in advance

  • What approaches exist to setting up continent/country/city drop down menus?

    - by Dave
    How easy (or difficult) is it to have a Continent/Country/City drop down menu? Where one select from Drop Down Menus (for example): 1 - Europe 2 - UK 3 - London and then writes the Province/Area (for example: Essex). Realistically, how long should it take an experienced web developer to write the code of the above, as well as to link this selection to a Browse function and database storing? I do not have a geographical database yet and I am wondering what the fastest and cheapest way to add it to the drop down menu is. Is there any way to get that geographical database for free? I can see this type of geographical drop down menu in thousands of websites, but I am struggling as to how to implement it ASAP. Follow Up: Tks All x your answers and comments so far. I hear what you are saying. I understand that there are rare occasions of Countries with multiple (same) name Cities and that it might be disputable whether a Country belongs to a certain Continent/Region or not (see Russia x example, Europe or Asia?). Anyway, please take a look, for instance, at this website Sign UP screen http://www.couchsurfing.org/register.html My question then is: Where do I get that list (Country/Cities) and how do I create that _array? Manually copying it somewhere else (which would take me ages) or are there ready made lists that can be downloaded from somewhere for free?

  • SQL SERVER – ERROR – FIX – Msg 3702, Level 16, State 3, Line 1 Cannot drop database “MyDBName” because it is currently in use

    - by pinaldave
    I often go to do various seminars and presentations at various organizations. During presentations I often create and drop various databases for demonstrations purpose. Recently in one of the presentations, I tried to remove my recently created database, I got following error. Msg 3702, Level 16, State 3, Line 1 Cannot drop database “MyDBName” because it is currently in use. The reason was very simple as my database was in use by another session or window. I had option that I should go and find open session and close it right away; later followed by dropping the database. As I was in rush I quickly wrote down following code and I was able to successfully drop the database. USE MASTER GO ALTER DATABASE MyDBName SET SINGLE_USER WITH ROLLBACK IMMEDIATE; DROP DATABASE MyDBName GO Please note that I am doing all this on my demonstrations, do not run above code on production without proper approvals and supervisions. • At what point would you drop some of your principles of software development for the sake of more money?

    - by MeshMan
    I'd like to throw this question out there to interestingly see where the medium is. I'm going to admit that in my last 12 months, I picked up TDD and a lot of the Agile values in software development. I was so overwhelmed with how much better my development of software became that I would never drop them out of principle. Until...I was offered a contracting role that doubled my take home pay for the year. The company I joined didn't follow any specific methodology, the team hadn't heard of anything like code smells, SOLID, etc., and I certainly wasn't going to get away with spending time doing TDD if the team had never even seen unit testing in practice. Am I a sell out? No, not completely... Code will always been written "cleanly" (as per Uncle Bob's teachings) and the principles of SOLID will always be applied to the code that I write as they are needed. Testing was dropped for me though, the company couldn't afford to have such a unknown handed to the team who quite frankly, even I did create test frameworks, they would never use/maintain the test framework correctly. Using that as an example, what point would you say a developer should never drop his craftsmanship principles for the sake of money/other benefits to them personally? I understand that this can be a very personal opinion on how concerned one is to their own needs, business needs, and the sake of craftsmanship etc. But one can consider that for example testing can be dropped if the company decided they would rather have a test team, than rather understand unit testing in programming, would that be something you could forgive yourself for like I did? So given that there is something you would drop, there usually should be an equal cost in the business that makes up for what you drop - hopefully, unless of course you are pretty much out for lining your own pockets and not community/social collaborating ;). Double your money, go back to RAD? Or walk on, and look for someone doing Agile, and never look back...

  • Dojo DnD: how to access newly copied node on onDndDrop event?

    - by toshinao
    Hi. I am working on code like the following. 01: var c1 = new dojo.dnd.Source('container1', {copyOnly:true}); // container1 is a div 02: var c2 = new dojo.dnd.Source('container2'); // container2 is a div 03: var list = []; 04: for (var i = 0; i < 3; i++) { list.push( dojo.create('div') ); } 05: c1.insertNodes(false, list); 06: 07: function checkDndCopy(nodes, target){ 08: dojo.forEach(nodes, function(node){ alert(node.id); } ); 09: } 10: dojo.subscribe("/dnd/drop", function(){ 11: var mgr = dojo.dnd.manager(); 12: checkDndCopy(mgr.nodes, mgr.target); 13: }); The nodes inserted to the c1 at line 05 have id of "dojoUnique1, donoUnique2, dojoUnique3". On a event of drag and drop a node from c1 to c2, a onDndDrop event is fired and the subscribe method defined in line10-13 is invoked. I expected that newly copied node appears in the nodes (for example) at line 08. But this is not true. When dojoUnique1 is target of drag and drop, nodes at line 08 contains only dojoUnique1. I want to modify some attributes of newly copied nodes on the event of onDndDrop. Please let me know how such a thing is realized.
