  • Reflective Generic Detection

    - by Aren B
    Trying to find out if a provided Type is of a given generic type (with any generic types inside) Let me Explain: bool IsOfGenericType(Type baseType, Type sampleType) { /// ... } Such that: IsOfGenericType(typeof(Dictionary<,>), typeof(Dictionary<string, int>)); // True IsOfGenericType(typeof(IDictionary<,>), typeof(Dictionary<string, int>)); // True IsOfGenericType(typeof(IList<>), typeof(Dictionary<string,int>)); // False However, I played with some reflection in the intermediate window, here were my results: typeof(Dictionary<,>) is typeof(Dictionary<string,int>) Type expected typeof(Dictionary<string,int>) is typeof(Dictionary<string,int>) Type expected typeof(Dictionary<string,int>).IsAssignableFrom(typeof(Dictionary<,>)) false typeof(Dictionary<string,int>).IsSubclassOf(typeof(Dictionary<,>)) false typeof(Dictionary<string,int>).IsInstanceOfType(typeof(Dictionary<,>)) false typeof(Dictionary<,>).IsInstanceOfType(typeof(Dictionary<string,int>)) false typeof(Dictionary<,>).IsAssignableFrom(typeof(Dictionary<string,int>)) false typeof(Dictionary<,>).IsSubclassOf(typeof(Dictionary<string,int>)) false typeof(Dictionary<,>) is typeof(Dictionary<string,int>) Type expected typeof(Dictionary<string,int>) is typeof(Dictionary<string,int>) Type expected typeof(Dictionary<string,int>).IsAssignableFrom(typeof(Dictionary<,>)) false typeof(Dictionary<string,int>).IsSubclassOf(typeof(Dictionary<,>)) false typeof(Dictionary<string,int>).IsInstanceOfType(typeof(Dictionary<,>)) false typeof(Dictionary<,>).IsInstanceOfType(typeof(Dictionary<string,int>)) false typeof(Dictionary<,>).IsAssignableFrom(typeof(Dictionary<string,int>)) false typeof(Dictionary<,>).IsSubclassOf(typeof(Dictionary<string,int>)) false So now I'm at a loss because when you look at the base.Name on typeof(Dictionary) you get Dictionary`2 Which is the same as typeof(Dictionary<,>).Name

  • C++: Explicit DLL Loading: First-chance Exception on non "extern C" functions

    - by Shiftbit
    I am having trouble importing my C++ functions. If I declare them as C functions I can successfully import them. When explicit loading, if any of the functions are missing the extern as C decoration I get a the following exception: First-chance exception at 0x00000000 in cpp.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation. DLL.h: extern "C" __declspec(dllimport) int addC(int a, int b); __declspec(dllimport) int addCpp(int a, int b); DLL.cpp: #include "DLL.h" int addC(int a, int b) { return a + b; } int addCpp(int a, int b) { return a + b; } main.cpp: #include "..DLL/DLL.h" #include <stdio.h> #include <windows.h> int main() { int a = 2; int b = 1; typedef int (*PFNaddC)(int,int); typedef int (*PFNaddCpp)(int,int); HMODULE hDLL = LoadLibrary(TEXT("../Debug/DLL.dll")); if (hDLL != NULL) { PFNaddC pfnAddC = (PFNaddC)GetProcAddress(hDLL, "addC"); PFNaddCpp pfnAddCpp = (PFNaddCpp)GetProcAddress(hDLL, "addCpp"); printf("a=%d, b=%d\n", a,b); printf("pfnAddC: %d\n", pfnAddC(a,b)); printf("pfnAddCpp: %d\n", pfnAddCpp(a,b)); //EXCEPTION ON THIS LINE } getchar(); return 0; } How can I import c++ functions for dynamic loading? I have found that the following code works with implicit loading by referencing the *.lib, but I would like to learn about dynamic loading. Thank you to all in advance.

  • How are integers casted to bytes in Java?

    - by helixed
    I know Java doesn't allow unsigned types, so I was wondering how it casts an integer to a byte. Say I have an integer a with a value of 255 and I cast the integer to a byte. Is the value represented in the byte 11111111? In other words, is the value treated more as a signed 8 bit integer, or does it just directly copy the last 8 bits of the integer? Thanks, helixed

  • Numeric Order By In Transact SQL (Ordering As String Instead Of Int)

    - by Pyronaut
    I have an issue where I am trying to order a result set by what I believe to be a numberic column in my database. However when I get the result set, It has sorted the column as if it was a string (So alphabetically), instead of sorting it as an int. As an example. I have these numbers, 1 , 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 11 When I order by in Transact SQL, I get back : 1, 10, 11, 2, 3, 4, 5 I had the same issue with Datagridview's a while back, And the issue was because of the sorting being done as if it was a string. I assume the same thing is happening here. My full SQL code is : SELECT TOP (12) DATEPART(YEAR, [OrderDate]) AS 'Year', DATEPART(MONTH, [OrderDate]) AS 'Month' , COUNT(OrderRef) AS 'OrderCount' FROM [Order] WHERE [Status] LIKE('PaymentReceived') OR [Status] LIKE ('Shipped') GROUP BY DATEPART(MONTH, [OrderDate]), DATEPART(YEAR, [OrderDate]) ORDER BY DATEPART(YEAR, OrderDate) DESC, DATEPART(MONTH, OrderDate) desc DO NOTE The wrong sorting only happens when I cam calling the function from Visual Studio. As in my code is : using (SqlConnection conn = GetConnection()) { string query = @"SELECT TOP (12) DATEPART(YEAR, [OrderDate]) AS 'Year', DATEPART(MONTH, [OrderDate]) AS 'Month' , COUNT(OrderRef) AS 'OrderCount' FROM [Order] WHERE [Status] LIKE('PaymentReceived') OR [Status] LIKE ('Shipped') GROUP BY DATEPART(MONTH, [OrderDate]), DATEPART(YEAR, [OrderDate]) ORDER BY DATEPART(YEAR, OrderDate) DESC, DATEPART(MONTH, OrderDate) desc"; SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand(query, conn); command.CommandType = CommandType.Text; using (SqlDataReader reader = command.ExecuteReader()) etc. When I run the statement in MSSQL server, there is no issues. I am currently using MSSQL 2005 express edition, And Visual Studio 2005. I have tried numerous things that are strewn across the web. Including using Convert() and ABS() to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • ActionView::TemplateError (integer 23656121084180 too big to convert to `unsigned int')

    Hi, this is the weirdest error I've ever got on Rails. Any idea what this may be is? NOTE: the error DOES NOT come from @order.get_invoice_number, I've tried to separate the code into multiple lines and it was clear the problem is within {:host... } ActionView::TemplateError (integer 23656121084180 too big to convert to `unsigned int') on line #56 of app/views/order_mailer/order_detail.text.html.erb: 53: <b>Order #:</b> 54: </td> 55: <td width="98%"> 56: <%= link_to "#{@order.get_invoice_number}", {:host => Thread.current[:host], :controller => 'store/account', :action => 'view_order', id => "#{@order.id}"}, {:target => '_blank'} %> 57: </td> 58: </tr> 59: <tr> app/views/order_mailer/order_detail.text.html.erb:56 app/controllers/store/ test_controller.rb:11:in `order_email'

  • Fractional to Decimal Form.

    - by ThePower
    Hi, there probably isn't an answer to this apart from "Create it yourself", but you never know, there might be some string representation for this. Basically, I would like to display number values as fractional instead of decimal when displaying the values as a string. Instead of a value displaying as: 1.1428571428571428571428571428571 I would prefer it to display as 8/7 Is there any way of doing this without writing the functionality myself? Regards Lloyd

  • Need help in resolving a compiler error: error: invalid conversion from ‘int’ to ‘GIOCondition’

    - by michael
    I have a simple cpp file which uses GIO. I have stripped out everything to show my compile error: Here is the error I get: My.cpp:16: error: invalid conversion from ‘int’ to ‘GIOCondition’ make[2]: *** [My.o] Error 1 Here is the complete file: #include <glib.h> static gboolean read_socket (GIOChannel *gio, GIOCondition condition, gpointer data) { return false; } void createGIOChannel() { GIOChannel* gioChannel = g_io_channel_unix_new(0); // the following is the line causing the error: g_io_add_watch(gioChannel, G_IO_IN|G_IO_HUP, read_socket, NULL); } I have seen other example using gio, and I am doing the same thing in term of calling G_IO_IN|G_IO_HUP. And the documentation http://www.gtk.org/api/2.6/glib/glib-IO-Channels.html, said I only need to include , which I did. Can you please tell me how to resolve my error? One thing I can think of is I am doing this in a cpp file. But g_io_add_watch is a c function? Thank you for any help. I have spent hours on this but did not get anywhere.

  • Unary NOT/Integersize of the architecture

  • Turning Floats into Their Closest (UTF-8 Character) Fraction.

    - by Mark Tomlin
    I want to take any real number, and return the closest number, with the closest fraction as available in the UTF-8 character set, appropriate. 0/4 = 0.00 = # < .125 1/4 = 0.25 = ¼ # > .125 & < .375 2/4 = 0.50 = ½ # > .375 & < .625 3/4 = 0.75 = ¾ # > .625 & < .875 4/4 = 1.00 = # > .875 I made this function to do that task: function displayFraction($realNumber) { if (!is_float($realNumber)) { return $realNumber; } list($number, $decimal) = explode('.', $realNumber); $decimal = '.' . $decimal; switch($decimal) { case $decimal < 0.125: return $number; case $decimal > 0.125 && $decimal < 0.375: return $number . '¼'; # 188 ¼ &#188; case $decimal > 0.375 && $decimal < 0.625: return $number . '½'; # 189 ½ &#189; case $decimal > 0.625 && $decimal < 0.875: return $number .   • Convert string to integer and multiply two integers

    - by demlasjr
    I have a big time trying to either convert a string into a integer or multiply two integers. I can't convert the string into integer because it's resulting me into a boolean (when I'm using var_dump). I can convert the other integer in string, but I'm unable to multiply it. I have this: <? $fees=$commerce->cart->get_total(); $payfee = str_replace('&nbsp;&euro;', '', $fees); $payfee = str_replace(',','', $payfee); //this is the string $fee = 0.025; $paypal = $payfee * $fee; //this thing is not working ?> I tried converting the payfee in integer, but still can't make it work. I did something like this before and worked well, but not this time. Any help will be appreciated. P.S Thank you to the whole stackoverflow.com community which helped me many times before.

  • How to pass a function in a function?

    - by SoulBeaver
    That's an odd title. I would greatly appreciate it if somebody could clarify what exactly I'm asking because I'm not so sure myself. I'm watching the Stanford videos on Programming Paradigms(that teacher is awesome) and I'm up to video five when he started doing this: void *lSearch( void* key, void* base, int elemSize, int n, int (*cmpFn)(void*, void*)) Naturally, I thought to myself, "Oi, I didn't know you could declare a function and define it later!". So I created my own C++ test version. int foo(int (*bar)(void*, void*)); int bar(void* a, void* b); int main(int argc, char** argv) { int *func = 0; foo(bar); cin.get(); return 0; } int foo(int (*bar)(void*, void*)) { int c(10), d(15); int *a = &c; int *b = &d; bar(a, b); return 0; } int bar(void* a, void* b) { cout << "Why hello there." << endl; return 0; } The question about the code is this: it fails if I declare function int *bar as a parameter of foo, but not int (*bar). Why!? Also, the video confuses me in the fact that his lSearch definition void* lSearch( /*params*/ , int (*cmpFn)(void*, void*)) is calling cmpFn in the definition, but when calling the lSearch function lSearch( /*params*/, intCmp ); also calls the defined function int intCmp(void* elem1, void* elem2); and I don't get how that works. Why, in lSearch, is the function called cmpFn, but defined as intCmp, which is of type int, not int* and still works? And why does the function in lSearch not have to have defined parameters?

  • Conversion failed when converting the varchar value to int

    - by onedaywhen
    Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (SP1), getting an unexpected 'Conversion failed' error. Not quite sure how to describe this problem, so below is a simple example. The CTE extracts the numeric portion of certain IDs using a search condition to ensure a numeric portion actually exists. The CTE is then used to find the lowest unused sequence number (kind of): CREATE TABLE IDs (ID CHAR(3) NOT NULL UNIQUE); INSERT INTO IDs (ID) VALUES ('A01'), ('A02'), ('A04'), ('ERR'); WITH ValidIDs (ID, seq) AS ( SELECT ID, CAST(RIGHT(ID, 2) AS INTEGER) FROM IDs WHERE ID LIKE 'A[0-9][0-9]' ) SELECT MIN(V1.seq) + 1 AS next_seq FROM ValidIDs AS V1 WHERE NOT EXISTS ( SELECT * FROM ValidIDs AS V2 WHERE V2.seq = V1.seq + 1 ); The error is, 'Conversion failed when converting the varchar value 'RR' to data type int.' I can't understand why the value ID = 'ERR' should be being considered for conversion because the predicate ID LIKE 'A[0-9][0-9]' should have removed the invalid row from the resultset. When the base table is substituted with an equivalent CTE the problem goes away i.e. WITH IDs (ID) AS ( SELECT 'A01' UNION ALL SELECT 'A02' UNION ALL SELECT 'A04' UNION ALL SELECT 'ERR' ), ValidIDs (ID, seq) AS ( SELECT ID, CAST(RIGHT(ID, 2) AS INTEGER) FROM IDs WHERE ID LIKE 'A[0-9][0-9]' ) SELECT MIN(V1.seq) + 1 AS next_seq FROM ValidIDs AS V1 WHERE NOT EXISTS ( SELECT * FROM ValidIDs AS V2 WHERE V2.seq = V1.seq + 1 ); Why would a base table cause this error? Is this a known issue? UPDATE @sgmoore: no, doing the filtering in one CTE and the casting in another CTE still results in the same error e.g. WITH FilteredIDs (ID) AS ( SELECT ID FROM IDs WHERE ID LIKE 'A[0-9][0-9]' ), ValidIDs (ID, seq) AS ( SELECT ID, CAST(RIGHT(ID, 2) AS INTEGER) FROM FilteredIDs ) SELECT MIN(V1.seq) + 1 AS next_seq FROM ValidIDs AS V1 WHERE NOT EXISTS ( SELECT * FROM ValidIDs AS V2 WHERE V2.seq = V1.seq + 1 );

I can't do it in single array, have to be in ArrayList. This is my collecting: list.addNumbers(numbers); list.display(); This is my writer: Is buffered coma.write("\n"+list.display()); coma.flush();<br/> Here is my class: public class IdCount {<br/> private ArrayList<Integer> properNumber = new ArrayList<>(); public void addNumbers(Integer numbers) { properNumber.add(numbers); Collections.sort(properNumber); } public String display() { //(I try .toString() Not work) return properNumber.toString(); } My second issue is LineNumberReader: This is my collecting and my writing: try { Reader input = new BufferedReader( new FileReader(inputFile)); try (Scanner in = new Scanner(input)) { while (in.hasNext()) { //(More Code) asp = new LineNumberReader(input); int rom = 0; while (asp.readLine()!=null){ rom++; } System.out.println(rom); coma.write(rom); This one will not write anything an my System Print give me only 12 0 in column.

  • Integer output in Java method not same as pre-converted char value.

    - by David
    I'm trying to parse a simple text file in an integer method and then output an integer from such file so that other parts of the program can use it. For testing purposes it also displays the character value (9 in this case). The integer value for some reason is 57. I've also tried it with another part of the text file (which in that case should be 5, but is instead 53). After looking at an ASCII chart, I see that 57 is the ASCII version of the "symbol" 9 and that 53 is the ASCII version of the "symbol" 5. Is there any simple way I can fix this? I'm getting kind of frustrated as I'm a Java newbie (I've mostly only used FreePascal before this).

  • Java ternary operator and boxing Integer/int?

    - by Markus
    I tripped across a really strange NullPointerException the other day caused by an unexpected type-cast in the ternary operator. Given this (useless exemplary) function: Integer getNumber() { return null; } I was expecting the following two code segments to be exactly identical after compilation: Integer number; if (condition) { number = getNumber(); } else { number = 0; } vs. Integer number = (condition) ? getNumber() : 0; . Turns out, if condition is true, the if-statement works fine, while the ternary opration in the second code segment throws a NullPointerException. It seems as though the ternary operation has decided to type-cast both choices to int before auto-boxing the result back into an Integer!?! In fact, if I explicitly cast the 0 to Integer, the exception goes away. In other words: Integer number = (condition) ? getNumber() : 0; is not the same as: Integer number = (condition) ? getNumber() : (Integer) 0; . So, it seems that there is a byte-code difference between the ternary operator and an equivalent if-else-statement (something I didn't expect). Which raises three questions: Why is there a difference? Is this a bug in the ternary implementation or is there a reason for the type cast? Given there is a difference, is the ternary operation more or less performant than an equivalent if-statement (I know, the difference can't be huge, but still)?

  • Memory allocation for a matrix in C

    - by Snogzvwtr
    Why is the following code resulting in Segmentation fault? (I'm trying to create two matrices of the same size, one with static and the other with dynamic allocation) #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> //Segmentation fault! int main(){ #define X 5000 #define Y 6000 int i; int a[X][Y]; int** b = (int**) malloc(sizeof(int*) * X); for(i=0; i<X; i++){ b[i] = malloc (sizeof(int) * Y); } } Weirdly enough, if I comment out one of the matrix definitions, the code runs fine. Like this: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> //No Segmentation fault! int main(){ #define X 5000 #define Y 6000 int i; //int a[X][Y]; int** b = (int**) malloc(sizeof(int*) * X); for(i=0; i<X; i++){ b[i] = malloc (sizeof(int) * Y); } } or #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> //No Segmentation fault! int main(){ #define X 5000 #define Y 6000 int i; int a[X][Y]; //int** b = (int**) malloc(sizeof(int*) * X); //for(i=0; i<X; i++){ // b[i] = malloc (sizeof(int) * Y); //} } I'm running gcc on Linux on a 32-bit machine.

  • How to hide helper functions from public API in c

    - by emge
    I'm working on a project and I need to create an API. I am using sockets to communicate between the server (my application) and the clients (the other applications using my API). This project is in c not C++ I come from a linux background and this is my first project using Windows, Visual Studio 2008, and dll libraries. I have communication working between the client and server, but I have some that is duplicated on both projects. I would like to create a library (probably a dll file), that both projects can link to so I don't have to maintain extra code. I also have to create the library that has the API that I need to make available for my clients. Within the API functions that I want public are the calls to these helper functions that are "duplicated code", I don't want to expose these functions to my client, but I do want my server to be able to use those functions. How can I do this? I will try to clarify with an example. This is what I started with. Server Project: int Server_GetPacket(SOCKET sd); int ReceiveAll(SOCKET sd, char *buf, int len); int VerifyLen(char *buf); Client Project: int Client_SendCommand(int command); int Client_GetData(int command, char *buf, int len); int ReceiveAll(SOCKET sd, char *buf, int len); int VerifyLen(char *buf); This is kind of what I would like to end up with: //Server Project: int Server_GetPacket(SOCKET sd); // library with public and private types // private API (not exposed to my client) int ReceiveAll(SOCKET sd, char *buf, int len); int VerifyLen(char *buf); // public API (header file available for client) int Client_SendCommand(int command); int Client_GetData(int command, char *buf, int len); Thanks any help would be appreciated.

  • Defining EditText imeOptions when using InputMethodManager.showSoftInput(View, int, ResultReceiver)

    - by TuomasR
    In my application I have a custom view which requires some text input. As the view in itself doesn't contain any actual views (it's a Surface with custom drawing being done), I have a FrameLayout which contains the custom view and underneath it an EditText -view. When the user does a specific action, the custom view is hidden and the EditText takes over for user input. This works fine, but android:imeOptions seem to be ignored for this view. I'm currently doing this: InputMethodManager inputMethodManager = (InputMethodManager)parent.getSystemService(Context.INPUT_METHOD_SERVICE); EditText t = (EditText)parent.findViewById(R.id.DummyEditor); t.setImeOptions(EditorInfo.IME_ACTION_DONE); inputMethodManager.showSoftInput(t, 0, new ResultReceiver(mHandler) { @Override protected void onReceiveResult( int resultCode, Bundle resultData) { // We're done System.out.println("Editing done : " + ((EditText)parent.findViewById(R.id.DummyEditor)).getText()); } } ); It seems that the setImeOptions(EditorInfo.IME_ACTION_DONE) has no effect. I've also tried adding the option to the layout XML with android:imeOptions="actionDone". No help. Any ideas?
