    i am writing stored procedures in MySQL that return values; CREATE PROCEDURE getCustomerById (id int) BEGIN SELECT * FROM customer WHERE customer.id = id; END; and i get the error that the results cannot be shown in the given context. after some googling, i think that i need to set the flag "CLIENT_MULTI_RESULTS" - i am connecting the database from JDBC using a java app, but cant find where to set it! any suggestions?

  • Hibernate Communications Link Failure in Hibernate Based Java Servlet application powered by MySQL

    Let me describe my question - I have a Java application - Hibernate as the DB interfacing layer over MySQL. I get the communications link failure error in my application. The occurence of this error is a very specific case. I get this error , When I leave mysql server unattended for more than approximately 6 hours (i.e. when there are no queries issued to MySQL for more than approximately 6 hours). I am pasting a top 'exception' level description below, and adding a pastebin link for a detailed stacktrace description. javax.persistence.PersistenceException: org.hibernate.exception.JDBCConnectionException: Cannot open connection - Caused by: org.hibernate.exception.JDBCConnectionException: Cannot open connection - Caused by: com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.CommunicationsException: Communications link failure - The last packet successfully received from the server was 1,274,868,181,212 milliseconds ago. The last packet sent successfully to the server was 0 milliseconds ago. - Caused by: com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.CommunicationsException: Communications link failure - The last packet successfully received from the server was 1,274,868,181,212 milliseconds ago. The last packet sent successfully to the server was 0 milliseconds ago. - Caused by: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect the link to the pastebin for further investigation - http://pastebin.com/4KujAmgD What I understand from these exception statements is that MySQL is refusing to take in any connections after a period of idle/nil activity. I have been reading up a bit about this via google search, and came to know that one of the possible ways to overcome this is to set values for c3p0 properties as c3p0 comes bundled with Hibernate. Specifically, I read from here http://www.mchange.com/projects/c3p0/index.html that setting two properties idleConnectionTestPeriod and preferredTestQuery will solve this for me. But these values dont seem to have had an effect. Is this the correct approach to fixing this? If not, what is the right way to get over this?     I am having problems with creating an in memory table, using H2 database, and accessing it outside of the JVM it is created and running in. The documentation structures the url as "jdbc:h2:tcp:///mem:' I've tried many combinations, but simply cannot get the remote connection to work. Is this feature working, can anyone give me the details of how they used this.

  • Why this doesn't work: [MySQL][ODBC 5.1 Driver]Access denied for user

    So I know that there is a very similar question to this all over the web as well as stack overflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2539961/error-access-denied-for-user-mysql-server but my question I think is different. So I have set up a linked server and it works...I have the correct permissions set up for my IP's that I am using. However the problem arises when our user "webuser@correctIP" tries to access it. Therefore, any user using window authentication is allowed to access it and works great...but any that are not using windows authentication are blocked. However, I have tried all the common solutions such as setting up a strict password, changing security settings in Microsoft SQL Server etc. Nothing is working. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. FYI: I am using this from Microsoft SQL Server 2008 - mysql (through myphpadmin)

    Hi, We are facing an issue with MS access. There are two users having the same access for tables and previliges in database. But one user can access the tables from MS access and another user can't. Can you please let me know the reason. Thanks for updating from options. I am looking in to it. User having grant permissions for SELECT ANY TABLE, it works for SQL connection (E.g. Toad or SQL +), but not for MS Access Is there any issue with MS-Access. Please update me.

Can I use same queries for both SQLite and MySQL, or is there any db specific stuff, that doesn't work on the other one? As far I've worked only with MySQL, so I don't really know much about SQLite.

    when saving an object to database using hibernate, sometimes it fails because certain fields of the object exceed the maximum varchar length defined in the database. There force I am using the following approach: 1. attempt to save 2. if getting an DataException, then I truncate the fields in the object to the max length specified in the db definition, then try to save again. However, in the second save after truncation.     After reading previous questions about this error, it seems like all of them conclude that you need to enable XA on all of the data sources. But: What if I don't want a distributed transaction? What would I do if I want to start transactions on two different databases at the same time, but commit the transaction on one database and roll back the transaction on the other? I'm wondering how my code actually initiated a distributed transaction. It looks to me like I'm starting completely separate transactions on each of the databases. Then in code, I do: sessionA = dbASessionFactory.openSession(); sessionB = dbBSessionFactory.openSession(); sessionA.beginTransaction(); sessionB.beginTransaction(); The sessionB.beginTransaction() line produces the error in the title of this post - sometimes. I ran the app on two different sun application servers. On one runs it fine, the other throws the error. I don't see any difference in how the two servers are configured although they do connect to different, but equivalent databases. So the question is Why doesn't the above code start completely independent transactions? How can I force it to start independent transactions rather than a distributed transaction? What configuration could cause the difference in behavior between the two application servers? Thanks.

    We are experimenting with Crystal Reports viewers such as this one: http://www.thereportviewer.com/ ... which can actually re-connect to the data source and re-run a Crystal Reports RPT file with live data. However when running the report the viewer asks for a password to connect to the data source (in this case SQL Server). Does Crystal Reports have some way of embedding a connection password into a RPT file to avoid this? Or should I be using a System DSN from the Control Panel/ODBC thing to get around this? I figure someone else must have had this problem.

I get the following exception when I try to connect to the database: java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application I am using 64bit windows7, and I am using eclipse which is also a 64bit version My database is a microsoft access database and it seems that the driver is a 32bit driver which is causing the problem. I read somewhere that microsoft has not released a 64bit driver for microsoft access! Any help on how to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

I set all permissions right but its still not working.. thanks..

I'm working on an e-commerce site (either bespoke with PHP, or using Drupal/Ubercart), and I'd like to investigate the site interacting with an internal (filemaker) database we use to manage stock and orders. Currently we manually transfer orders from the web site to our own database, and the site does not check or record changes in stock. My plan to allow the 2 to interact is as follows: Make the internal database available externaly on a machine with a fixed IP Allow external access from the site only Connect to the internal database using ODBC (or similar) Use simple queries to check stock / record stock changes / record order details Am I missing something here as this sounds quite straight forward? Is there another solution I should be taking a look at? Thanks in advance for any help or comments.

  • MS SQL Server Dates Excel

    I have data this is linked from SQL Server into an excel document. The column format on the SQL Server is datetime2. When I get the data via an ODBC connection it comes across as a string? I tried using CAST(column AS DATE ) but that didn't work. I tried reformatting via CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), column, 103) as well but that didn't work. I tried retrieving the data via Microsoft query as well but that didn't work. At the moment I am using VBA code like: While (ActiveCell.Value <> "") ActiveCell.Value = DATEVALUE(ActiveCell.Value) ActiveCell.Offset(1,0).Activate Wend and looping through each column that needs this treatment but 100000 rows in multiple columns takes forever to loop through. Are there any alternatives?
