• Can't Move Windows to 2nd Monitor without Left Mouse and Cntl Key

  I have 2 very frustrating problems that maybe someone can help me with: I have 2 monitors (different sizes and resolutions) setup with the "Extended" monitor Win7 setup. My problem is this = I can not "move" a window from my Primary Monitor (larger and higher resolution on right side in front of me) to my Secondary 2nd monitor (smaller and lower resolution) with just selecting the title bar with the left mouse button and dragging it to the left. Windows 7 "snaps" it back to the left Primary Monitor when the window is physically in the 2nd window area as I'm holding the left mouse button. I can prevent this problem - by holding down the Cntl Key with the Left Mouse button, but this is extremely annoying to me. Also I typically "lose" focus if I try typing input on the 2nd monitor. Typing is erratic with regard to keystroke accuracy from my keyboard translated into input on the 2nd screen. No problem with typing input on the primary left monitor. I find this extremely annoying in Windows 7 and turning off the "snap" feature via the Control panel does NOT work for me. Win7 stubbornly refuses to move my selected window to my 2nd monitor without me "forcing" Win7 to do this with the Cntrl Key. Please tell me this is not a Win7 feature. Also on my system - Windows Key + Shift, Left arrow Key (pressed together) or the same combo with The Right arrow Key - don't do anything whatsoever. Widows Key with "+" however does maximize current window across both monitors, and I can "restore" it with Windows Key and "-" back to original monitor and size. I have tried various solutions including changing the resolutions of one or both of my monitors and sometimes "temporarily helps" but reverts back to the problem. Also if I swap the logical (not physical) layout so that I tell Win7 the monitors are setup in a reserved situation (Large monitor on the left, and small on the right) - this also sometimes helps for awhile - and is very strange and awkward to work with "backwards". But all of these solutions stop working. The only solution that consistently works for "moving" the screens is to hold the Cntrl Key down as I'm moving window with the left mouse selected on the title bar. Even that however, doesn't prevent the loss of typing focus for me on the 2nd monitor - while at the same time the typing on the 1st monitor is fine. Any help on moving my window screens from one monitor on my 2nd monitor without having to press the Cntrl key while holding down my left mouse button with be appreciated. Also any help on gaining typing "focus" into my 2nd screen with be helpful too. Thanks - John

• Subdomains on Windows Azure

  Hi, I've got a Windows Azure project I'm working on. It has two web roles - one is a public-facing site, and the second is an administration site for my customer to make changes to the database etc. I had expected to be able to use a subdomain for each role - so for example have mysite.com and admin.mysite.com (obviously CNAME-mapped to the .cloudapp.net DNS name). However it looks like Azure doesn't do this, and instead has one subdomain (mysite.com) with different ports for each web role. So, for example, I would have mysite.com:80 for the main public site, and mysite.com:8080 for the administration. Is this correct? Is there no way I can have subdomains for particular web roles?   Basically, i need the equivalent of T-SQL CONVERT(NVARCHAR(10), datevalue, 126) I've tried: from t in ctx.table select t.Date.ToString("yyyy-MM-dd") but it throws not supported exception from t in ctx.table select "" + t.Date.Year + "-" + t.Date.Month + "-" + t.Date.Day but i don't think it's an usable solution, because i might need to be able to change the format. The only option I see is to use Convert.ToString(t.Date, FormatProvider), but i need a format provider, and I'm not sure it works either.

I would like to use the org-entry-get functionality to make diary-anniversary take the values of the Birthday and Name (see the bold text above) properties.   I'm really new to ASP.NET MVC, and I'm trying to integrate some Javascript into a website I'm making as a test of this technology. My question is this: how can I insert Javascript code into a View? Let's say that I start out with the default ASP.NET MVC template. In terms of Views, this creates a Master page, a "Home" View, and an "About" view. • JPQL / SQL: How to select * from a table with group by on a single column?

  I would like to select every column of a table, but want to have distinct values on a single attribute of my rows (City in the example). I don't want extra columns like counts or anything, just a limited number of results, and it seems like it is not possible to directly LIMIT results in a JPQL query. Original table: ID | Name | City --------------------------- 1 | John | NY 2 | Maria | LA 3 | John | LA 4 | Albert | NY Wanted result, if I do the distinct on the City: ID | Name | City --------------------------- 1 | John | NY 2 | Maria | LA What is the best way to do that? • Logging ASMX Requests and Responses from Client

  Hi, I've got a C# web application which I can't easily update the code of. However, I can make configuration changes to the application. The application calls out to a third-party ASMX web service, and I really need (if at all possible) to log the full XML requests and responses. I have no control over the web service so I have to do it from the client. I'm not using WCF - this is standard ASMX web service calls. Is there any way I can log the XML requests and responses from the client web app without having to redeploy the code? Thanks in advance John

  Hi, I am creating a custom social network for one of my clients. In this I am storing the friends of a user in the form of CSV as shown below in the user table uid user_name friends 1 John 2 2 Jack 3,1 3 Gary 2,4 4 Joey 3 In the above scenario if the logged in user is John and if he visits the profile page of Joey, the connection between them should appear as John-Jack-Gary-Joey I am able to establish the connection at level 1 i.e If Jack visits Joey's profile I am able to establish the following : Jack-Gary-Joey But for the 2nd level I need to get into the same routine of for loops which I know is not the right solution + I am not able to implement that as well. • Why can't I download a whole image file with urllib2.urlopen()

  When I run the following code, it only seems to be downloading the first little bit of the file and then exiting. Occassionally, I will get a 10054 error, but usually it just exits without getting the whole file. My internet connection is crappy wireless, and I often get broken downloads on larger files in firefox, but my browser has no problem getting a 200k image file. A word search, as defined by Wikipedia, is: A word search, word find, word seek, word sleuth or mystery word puzzle is a word game that is letters of a word in a grid, that usually has a rectangular or square shape. The objective of this puzzle is to find and mark all the words hidden inside the box. The words may be horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Often a list of the hidden words is provided, but more challenging puzzles may let the player figure them out. Many word search puzzles have a theme to which all the hidden words are related. The word searches for this challenge will all be rectangular grids with a list of words to find provided. The words can be written vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. Input/Output The user inputs their word search and then inputs a word to be found in their grid. These two inputs are passed to the function that you will be writing. • Configuring ASP.NET MVC ActionLink format with GoDaddy shared hosting

  Background I have a GoDaddy shared Windows hosting plan and I'm running into a small issue with multiple domains. Many people have previously reported such an issue, but I am not interested in trying to resolve that problem altogether; all I want to accomplish is to change the format of my ActionLinks. Issue Let's say the domain that is mapped to my root hosting directory is example.com. GoDaddy forces mapping of other domains to subdirectories of the root. For example, my second domain, example1.com, is mapped to example.com/example1. I uploaded my ASP.NET MVC site to such a subdirectory, only to find that ActionLinks that are for navigation have the following format: http://example1.com/example1/Controller/Action In other words, even when I use the domain that is mapped to the subdirectory, the subdirectory is still used in the URL. However, I noticed that I can also access the same path by going to: http://example1.com/Controller/Action (leaving out the subdirectory) What I want to achieve I want to have my ActionLinks automatically drop the subdirectory, as it is not required. Is this possible without changing the ActionLinks into plain-old URLs?

• Debugging asp.net with firefox and visual studio.net - very slow compared to IE

  Debugging asp.net websites/web projects in visual studio.net 2005 with Firefox is loads slower than using IE. I've read something somewhere that there is a way of fixing this but i can't for the life of me find it again. Does anyone know what i'm on about and can point me in the right direction please? I prefer Firefox for debugging (firebug etc) hitting F5 when debugging with IE the browser launches really quickly and clicking around my web application is almost instant and when a breakpont is hit i get to my code straight away with no delays. hitting F5 when debugging with FireFox the browser launches really slowly (ok i have plugins that slow FF loading) but clicking around my web application is really really slow and when a breakpoint is hit it takes ages to break into code. i swear i've read something somewhere that there is a setting in Firefox (about:config maybe?) that when changed to some magic setting sorts all this out.

  I am trying to use Aspose.Words library through COM Interop. There is one critical problem: I cannot set color. It is supposed to work by assigning to DocumentBuilder.Font.Color, but when I try to do it I get OLE error 0x80131509. If I understand correctly, I made the whole controller cache for 7200 seconds (2 hours). Dynamic Pages However, how does it work with dynamic pages? By dynamic, I mean where the user has to submit a form. As an example, I have a page with an email form. • ChannelFactory don't have an address on the endpoint, why?

  When I create a new instance of a ChannelFactory: var factory = new ChannelFactory<IMyService>(); and that I create a new channel, I have an exception saying that the address of the Endpoint is null. My configuration inside my web.config is as mentioned and everything is as it is supposed to be (especially the address of the endpoint). If I create a new MyServiceClientBase, it loads all the configuration from my channel factory: var factoryWithClientBase = new MyServiceClientBase().ChannelFactory; Console.WriteLine(factoryWithClientBase.Endpoint.Address); //output the configuration inside the web.config var factoryWithChannelFactory = new ChannelFactory<IMyService>(); Console.WriteLine(factoryWithChannelFactory.Endpoint.Address); //output nothing (null) Why?

However, the output is: <input id="user_email" name="user[email]" placeholder="[email protected]" size="30" type="text" /> which should be: <input id="user_email" name="user[email]" placeholder="[email protected]" size="30" type="email" /> Is there a way to force Rails to use the email type instead of text, or must I use HTML directly?   While very easy to do in Perl or PHP, I cannot figure how to use mysql only to extract the first unique occurence of a record. For example, given the following table: Name Date Time Sale John 2010-09-12 10:22:22 500 Bill 2010-08-12 09:22:37 2000 John 2010-09-13 10:22:22 500 Sue 2010-09-01 09:07:21 1000 Bill 2010-07-25 11:23:23 2000 Sue 2010-06-24 13:23:45 1000 I would like to extract the first record for each individual in asc time order. After sorting the table is ascending time order, I need to extract the first unique record by name.
