• Changing Render Kits in Browser

  I'm working on a project to develop a cross-browser testing web app. Simply put, I'm tired of having to maintain multiple browsers on the same system and IE in VMware solely for the purpose of testing. Does anyone know if there is any way to change the render kit programmatically? For example, if I insert a URL, I would be able to load the URL and switch the browser render within a frame of some assortment. I am experienced with PHP, JS, and RoR if there is a solution using any of those. Thank you! John

  Has anyone run across a quality library that will parse, line by line, CSV, tab-delimited, and Excel files? I've started to do it manually but have noticed some of the intricacies in parsing a comma-delimited file. Such as situations where a cell has a comma in it as part of the data (blah,\"LastName, Jr.\",blah,blah).

• fetching a url using $.getJSON and parsing it correctly

  This is probably really stupid but i can't find the problem with my code. It fetches a url that returns json and the function is then supposed to return a string: function getit() { var ws_url = 'example.com/test.js'; var user = false; $.getJSON(ws_url, function(data) { alert('user '+data.user);//shows john user = data.user || false; } ); return user;//should return john but returns false } test.js will have something like this: {"id":"12","username":"ses","user":"john","error":""} or like this: {"error":"123"} I also tried if(data.user){}else{} but it didn't work either.. So what am i missing? Thanks :)

• Get list of Unique many-to-many records from a queryset

  My models: class Order(models.Model): ordered_by = models.ForeignKey(User) reasons = models.ManyToManyField(Reason) class Reason(models.Model): description = models.CharField() Basically a user creates an order and gives reasons for that order. ie, john has two orders (one for pencils because he is out AND because he doesn't like his current stock. a second order for pens because he is out). I want to print a list out of all reasons a user has placed his orders. So under john, it should print "he is out", "he doesn't like his current stock"; those two lines only. If I simply select all of john's orders, iterate through them and print out their "reasons" it'll print "he is out", "he doesn't like his current stock" and then "he is out" again. I don't want these duplicate values. How do I select a list of his reasons for ALL his orders so that the list has all unique rows?

• Making Latex typeset given text on two facing pages

  How do I encourage/make Latex typeset some portion of text so that it will all appear on a consecutive even-page, odd-page pair of pages? With trial and error, \nopagebreak can be coaxed into doing this, but is there a strategy that Just Works? Something like a samepage environment would be ideal, but one that: Will force a pagebreak on odd pages if that is needed to get all the text on facing pages; Allows up to one page break anywhere in the environment body, and fails noisily if that can't be ensured.

  I have two fields: Mother's employer and Father's employer, and I need to group on the employer. Could somebody help me combine the two above fields into one group? Both fields are in one table. FOr example a child named John Lewis is a record in a table and he has a father and a mother and Mother's employer is IBM and Father's employer is ISF. And so forth.   I am looking at some pointers on how to design a wrapper for these social networking sites. Ideally what I want to do is create a black box where I am able to create an interface for other libraries to call certain functions to interact with these social networking sites. I am planning on using oAuth for most of these sites, I already have this layer designed in PHP. The other layer that I need for these social sites is the ability to push and pull content. For example, the ability to pull feeds for users from each of these networks and then should I cache them on my end? how would I cache all twitter, facebook etc activity feed and be able to account for resync etc? The networks that I am looking at are: Twitter Youtube Facebook LinkedIN Vimeo Flickr I am looking for ideas on how to tackle this in php? Any suggestions, opensource systems that I can learn from?

• ASP.NET FileUpload

  Greetings! I am using the ASP.NET FileUpload control to allow users to upload text files to our web server. Everything works great in terms of saving the file to where we wanted, etc, using the SaveAs() method of the control. But we were caught off guard by one seemingly simple caveat: the original timestamp of the uploaded file was lost such as the date last modified and date create. The date last modified and date created become the actual date and time when the file is saved to the server. My question is: is there anyway to retain the original timestamp by setting some attributes that I am not aware of yet or is it possible to read the metadata of the file to get its original time stamp? Any in-sight and suggestions are greatly appreciated. John

• I'm having trouble with using std::stack to retrieve the values from a recursive function.

  Thanks to the help I received in this post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2761918/how-do-i-use-this-in-a-member-function I have a nice, concise recursive function to traverse a tree in postfix order: void Node::postfix() { if (left != __nullptr) { left->postfix(); } if (right != __nullptr) { right->postfix(); } cout<<cargo<<"\n"; return; }; Now I need to evaluate the values and operators as they are returned. My problem is how to retrieve them. I tried the std::stack: #include <stack> stack <char*> s; void Node::postfix() { if (left != __nullptr) { left->postfix(); } if (right != __nullptr) { right->postfix(); } s.push(cargo); return; }; but when I tried to access it in main() while (!s.empty()) { cout<<s.top<<"\n"; s.pop; } I got the error: 'std::stack<_Ty::top': function call missing argument list; use '&std::stack<_Ty::top' to create a pointer to member' I'm stuck. Another question to follow shortly.

• AjaxControlToolkit 3.0.30930.0 vs System.web.extension

  Hi, I recently started to use AjaxControlToolkit v3.0.30930.0 in my application together with System.Web.Extension 3.5. My development environment is Visual Studio 2005, .NET Framework 2.0 and the development language is C#. The Ajax control I used is the ModalPopupExtender. I also used the UpdatePanel and updateprogress controls. Everything is working fine on my development machine. But I got a problem after I deployed the application to a server which does not have System.Web.Extension 3.5 installed, which is understandable. My question is, can the ajax controls I used work without System.Web.Extension 3.5? Say I revert the ajaxcontroltoolkit back to version 1.0.61025.0? I don't have the option to install .NET 3.5 as yet. Thank you for your help. John

• mySQL - Separate Lastname,Firstname and CompanyName entries from a single column

  I've got a column in a database which contains company names, and customer names all in one field... what I'd like to do is keep the CompanyName column completely intact, but wherever there is a comma in the CompanyName I'd like to take that information and populate it into a FirstName and LastName field. So that basically... • Setting a Silverlight textbox control's width relatively

  Hello, I tried searching on stackoverflow for an answer to my question but couldn't seem to find anything relevant. Since I'm relatively new to Silverlight, I'm not even sure if this is possible, but I am trying to figure out if it is possible to set a Silverlight textbox control's width value proportionally to it's immediate parent container? It would be nice to avoid hard coding a width value. Say you want to place a textbox control inside a horizontally aligned StackPanel control and have it's width always dynamically adjusted to be 80% of the total width of the StackPanel. Is this possible to do declaratively in your xaml markup, or will I need to resort to some codebehind attached to some event handler to accomplish this? fyi, I am currently using Visual Web Developer Express 2008 to write my silverlight code. thanks in advance, John

  I have a circle around a given point, call this point (x1, y1). I know the radius of the circle around this point. I also have a second point (x2, y2), that is a distance away, outside the radius of the circle. I need a algebraic way through code to calculate the heading (angle from vertical) needed to intersect the circle at 90* to the center point (I.E. get the angle of the tangent intersecting line 2) around the point (x1, y1) from the second point (x2, y2) A bit of background: Essentially the two points are GPS coordinates on a 2D map, I need to know the target heading to intersect the circle in order to follow its path around the center point. • Adding childs to list of parents with jquery /mvc2

  Hi, I have a table of products on my page, each product has zero or more colors, the colors are shown as a list beneath the product. After the colors I have a button to add a color. The button will do an ajax call with the parent product id to a controller which will return a JSON object with color information. My problem is where to store the product id in the DOM, should I put it in a hidden field and use jquery in the click event of the "add color" to get to it? What is the best way to do this? TIA, John EDIT: The page is initially rendered on the server so I don't want to use jquery to add the id's to the page.

• Can I align the text in a C# balloon tip ?

  Hello, I wrote a little C# program that displays text in a balloon tip from time to time. When the text is in English, there's no problem : Everything is aligned to the left and is readable, but sometimes I have some Hebrew text and a left alignment of a RTL language gets all screwy. I was wondering if there's a way to right-align the Hebrew text ? Google pointed me to articles that can help me change the balloon color and font, but none of them have an alignment argument. Is it even possible ? Any help will be appropriated. John

• Sending binary data from ASP to .net component

  The ASP application allows uploading of image files (jpg, gif, tif). These files are sent to a .net component registered in the GAC of the server. In the component file is encoded using System.Text.Unicode to byte[] array. This encoding is done with some data loss. The byte array has values 253 and 255 in consequetive elements. What could be the problem ? I'm sending the binary data as a string. Please help me... Thanks in advance, John

Now just so i have a goal in mind, I picked angry birds as my initial target of what sort of game play would I like to learn to build. This is not going to be a market release game. This is totally going to be learning purposes only. So to start off my question is: Would something like this be achievable using Cocos2d? How would I go about building the physics for this? How can one do a screen scroll like the way they do in cocos2d? (any example code would be great) This is just to start off. If you have any particular questions please do add to this question.
