  • My website dns_server_failure when using University Connection

    My website used to open just fine in the past when I use my University connection, but now since I transfered my website to another hosting company this problem started to appear. Some times the website open and sometimes I get this alot!: Network Error (dns_server_failure) Your request could not be processed because an error occurred contacting the DNS server. The DNS server may be temporarily unavailable, or there could be a network problem. For assistance, contact your network support team. Do you have any idea? I checked using websites checking tools and my website was running just fine on any other connection , ADSL, 3g but except my University connection. Thanks in advance :) UPDATE: When I open my website using the Real IP Server it does open just fine. But with my domain nope. Also, even other websites that are hosted on my server cannot be opened too

  • Visitors have old website cached in their browsers

    My client's new website is example.com, the old website is example.co.uk. I've re-pointed the A Records to the new website (so as to leave the emails alone) and put in 301 redirects from old pages to new pages. But, my client is upset as he (and he thinks many of his clients) have the old website cached in their browsers and won't know how to clear their browser cache. Is there anything I can do to overcome this and if not, what sort of time will browsers finally stop using their cached pages so I can at least go back to my client and tell him that his clients will finally start to see the new website?

In this website I want users to register and also participate in something like a browser game, where every user may receive some questions which they have to answer. For each question they successfully answered, they receive points and the number of collected points will decide on which rank they are. Edit 2 Currently I am considering using only HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, SQL to design this e-commerce website. As a result of this I installed apache and all the things that come associated with it, and also installed Joomla, and I got everything running well. My problem is, I need to make apache run this website locally, so I downloaded the public_html folder from the FTP server on my website, but I have absolutely no idea how to implement the website in order to make it run on apache. I've read a few guides, but they all tell me how to create a new website instead of helping me host a website already done.

  • If OOP makes problems with large projects, what doesn't?

    I learned Python OOP at school. My (good in theory, bad in practice) informatics told us about how good OOP was for any purpose; Even/Especially for large projects. Now I don't have any experience with teamwork in software development (what a pity, I'd like to program in a team) and I don't know anything about scaling and large projects either. Since some time I'm reading more and more about that object-oriented programming has (many) disadvantages when it comes to really big and important projects/systems. I got a bit confused by that as I always thought that OOP helped you keep large amounts of code clean and structured. Now why should OOP be problematic in large projects? If it is, what would be better? Functional, Declarative/Imperative?

  • Is it possible to store only a checksum of a large file in git?

    I'm a bioinformatician currently extracting normal-sized sequences from genomic files. Some genomic files are large enough that I don't want to put them into the main git repository, whereas I'm putting the extracted sequences into git. Is it possible to tell git "Here's a large file - don't store the whole file, just take its checksum, and let me know if that file is missing or modified." If that's not possible, I guess I'll have to either git-ignore the large files, or, as suggested in this question, store them in a submodule.

The only point I may not agree with the authors is that Oracle Coherence is not an alternative to Oracle RAC in providing High Availability, but combining both Oracle RAC and Oracle Coherence will help Architects and Customers to reach higher level of service and high-availability.   • Small-Scale Physics Engine

    I'm entering Android game development, and I already have a computer version of a game I want to publish. The thing is, I want to make this as good as it can be. With that said, I need a physics engine, really to only do one thing. That one thing is to make a parabolic movement of my main character as he's jumping in the air. Currently, my computer version simply makes the guy move up at a 45 degree angle, and as soon as it hits the ceiling, down at a 45 degree angle. I need a physics engine/library that would accomplish that, it has to be in java since that's my best language, it has to be 2D, and it has to be able to work on Android. Which physics engine/library could accomplish all of that?

  • Why does multiplying texture coordinates scale the texture?

    I'm having trouble visualizing this geometrically - why is it that multiplying the U,V coordinates of a texture coordinate has the effect of scaling that texture by that factor? eg if you scaled the texture coordinates by a factor of 3 ..then doesn't this mean that if you had texture coordinates 0,1 and 0,2 ...you'd be sampling 0,3 and 0,6 in the U,V texture space of 0..1? How does that make it bigger eg HLSL: tex2D(textureSampler, TexCoords*3) Integers make it smaller, decimals make it bigger I mean I understand intuitively if you added to the U,V coordinates, as that is simply an offset into the sampling range, but what's the case with multiplication? I have a feeling when someone explains this to me I'm going to be feeling mighty stupid

  • What Technology can Render Medium Scale 3d Environments in a Web-Browser

    I intend to make a web application that displays 3d environments that can be navigated by dragging(with a finger or mouse depending on the platform). The web app will render 3d environments of development sites including contours, water pipeline locations, buildings etc. I am trying to decide what technology/libraries to use that will create a web-app that will work on Android-Web-Browser, iOS-Safari, IE9, Safari, Firefox and Chrome. And also what technology will provide speed in development. I understand that this is 'asking for my cake and eating it too'/'asking for the moon' but I don't know all the technologies out there - so there may be advanced libraries that can render 3d environments across many web-browsers including the main smart phone ones and I dont know of them. The 3d rendering would not be highly detailed buildings or water with effects, but rather simple 3d representations of these objects. The environment would be navigable by dragging around and you could view the landscape in layers(view only contour lines, view only underground pipelines, view only sewerage pipes, etc.). Are there any 3d libraries for web-browsers out there? Is there a way to run OpenGL(or OpenGL ES) through a webbrowser? What technology would you use if you were making this kind of app/web app that should work on desktop Windows, Android, iOS and WindowsPhone? Is there any technology I have failed to mention that would be good for this kind of project? I am tending towards a Browser Driven Web App because I get that cross platform ability(where it even works on linux and MacOS by using compatible web-browsers). Also I know of CSS3 transforms that can create cubes that can rotate in 3d space(NOTE only works for WebKit browsers - so no IE :( ). But I don't know if CSS3 is robust enough to render whole 3d environments? Do you think it could? Maybe I could use HTML5 canvas's for this? Can Google maps create custom 3d maps?

    I own a Dell Latitude E6520 with an Intel CPU (Core i7 2720QM). After installing cpufrequtils, I get the following message : cpufrequtils 007: cpufreq-info (C) Dominik Brodowski 2004-2009 Veuillez rapportez les erreurs et les bogues à [email protected], s'il vous plait. analyse du CPU 0 : **pas de pilotes cpufreq reconnu pour ce CPU** maximum transition latency: 4294.55 ms. In English : no cpufreq pilot found for this CPU. Thus my CPU runs always at full speed (2,2 GHz) which consume the battery and shorten its life. I don't either know how to activate turbo mode. Please help ! Regards, Al
