• How do I use multiple settings file in Django with multiple sites on one server?

  I have an ec2 instance running Ubuntu 14.04 and I want to host two sites from it. On my first site I have two settings file, production_settings.py and settings.py (for local development). I import the local settings into the production settings and override any settings with the production settings file. Since my production settings file is not the default settings.py name, I have to create an environment variable DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE='site1.production_settings' However because of this whenever I try to start my second site it says No module named site1.production_settings I am assuming that this is due to me setting the environment variable. Another problem is that I won't be able to use different settings file for different sites. How do I start use two different settings file for two different websites?

• Error in django using Apache & mod_wsgi

  Hey, I've been doing some changes to my django develpment env, as some of you suggested. So far I've managed to configure and run it successfully with postgres. Now I'm trying to run the app using apache2 and mod_wsgi, but I ran into this little problem after I followed the guidelines from the django docs. • Problem compiling mod_wsgi for python2.6 on Cent OS 5.3

  I am running a website on CentOS 5.3. I understand centos will break if the default python 2.4 is upgraded. I followed this site (http://www.question-defense.com/2009/12/25/how-to-install-python-2-6-on-centos-5-without-breaking-yum) and got python 2.6 installed. Now if I run "python" it runs python2.4 and if I run "python26" it runs python2.6. I am trying to compile mod_wsgi-3.2. When it run ./configure it takes only python 2.4 environment. I have tried using the --with-python=/usr/bin/python26. That way, "make" command does not work. Can someone throw some light on this? Thanks in advance

• GAE app.yaml appears to be inconsistently routing requests

  I have the following in app.yaml: - url: /gae_mini_profiler/static static_dir: gae_mini_profiler/static - url: /gae_mini_profiler/.* script: gae_mini_profiler/main.py - url: .* script: main.py and the following in gae_mini_profiler/main.py: def main(): logging.critical("gae_mini_profiler request!") run_wsgi_app(application) However, when I fire requests to, say, /gae_mini_profiler/request?request=ABC, and repeatedly reload the page, sometimes I will get the proper response (as well as a "gae_mini_profiler request!" log entry, and sometimes I get a blank response and nothing in the App Engine logs other than a 200 with an empty response body. This is completely reproducible, only happens in the live environment, and I'd say ~50% of the refreshes work while 50% do not. This only happens in production. Any ideas?

  I wonder which option is more stable (leaving performance aside) and is more widely used (I assume the widely used one is the most stable): apache - mod_wsgi apache - mod_fcgid apache - mod_proxy_ajp apache - mod_proxy_http for a project that will serve REST services with small json formatted input and output messages and web pages, up to 100 req/s. Please comment on apache if you think nginx etc. is more suitable. Thanks.

• Apache + mod_wsgi + django - large uploads timeout on IE but not on FF

  I'm running Apache, mod_wsgi and Django. Uploading a file over 100mb causes a timeout on IE 7 and 8, but successfully uploaded on Firefox 3.5. Specifically the error is "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". The timeout is not immediate, it runs for quite some time before it fails. Any suggestions? UPDATE: I set TimeOut to 1200 and it made no difference

• replay in django + apcahce + mod_wsgi ??

  I have a simple django page that has a counter on it. I use Apache2 and mod_wsgi to serve it. First, when I enter this page, the counter shows 0, as it should. The second time when I enter the page the counter shows 1 - again, it is the right behavior. The problem begins now, cause when I enter this page the third time, I get 0 again. When I refresh it goes between 0, and 1, clearly using some cache or so. If I wait for some time and then try again, it will show 2, and 3, but will be stuck with those values, till this cache or whatever it is will be flushed, and then the counter continues. Does somebody knows how I can get it work right (the real scenario deals with getting data from the DB, but the problems with this strange cache are the same). BTW, I don't have any caching engine set in my django settings.

  The command $ sudo apt-get install libapache2-mod-proxy-html and then $sudo service apache2 restart fires: apache2: Syntax error on line 210 of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf: Syntax error on line 1 of /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/proxy_html.load: Cannot load /usr/lib/libxml2.so.2 into server: /usr/lib/libxml2.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Action 'configtest' failed. • How can I gain access to a player instance in a Minecraft mod?

  I'm creating Minecraft mod with a pickaxe that takes away experience when you break a block. The method for taking away experience from a player is addExperience on EntityPlayer, so I need to get an instance of EntityPlayer for the player using my pickaxe when the pickaxe breaks a block, so that I can remove the appropriate amount of experience. • Ubuntu 13.10 on SSD (system) and HDD (data). Missing /grub/i386-pc/normal.mod

  I've got HDD (750 GB) and SSD (16 GB). I want to install Ubuntu (13.10) on SSD, but because of its smallness I need to install /home, /var and /tmp on HDD. After that I would like to install Windows (system + data) on another partition of that HDD, but it is not important now. I installed Ubuntu (I had formatted and partitioned the disk before), but when I restarted my laptop it said: 'error: file '/grub/i386-pc/normal.mod' not found. grub rescue'. I tried to reinstall Grub 2 using this tutorial (as sdXY I used sdb1, because it's the only one partion of my SSD), but it didn't work. Can anybody help me, please? Thanks, Tatarkow

  Since Apache 2.4 I've started using mod_remoteip instead of mod_extract_forwarded for rewriting client address from x-forwarded-for provided by frontend servers (varnish, squid, apache etc). So far everything works fine with the modules, i.e. php, cgi, wsgi etc... - client addresses are shown as they should be, but I couldn't write client address in access logs (%a, %h, %{c}a). No luck - I'm always getting 127.0.0.1 (localhost forward ex.). How to log client's ip address when using mod_remoteip?

  I want to build a test system in the office. On one box I will install XAMPP. I will put a website that I want to test on that box. Now I do not want it connected to the Internet. So my plan is to use a reverse proxy to resolve things like ads and other external links. So I am thinking of using mod_proxy for that. Now my question is, How many boxes do I need? 1 for Xampp, 1 for mod_proxy and 1 for the server where mod proxy redirects them to. Total of three. But maybe I could do it with less. Can I run Mod_proxy on the first box? Is there a better way? Thanks

  I'm trying to deploy a Django application, but I've hit a brick wall. On Debian (latest), I've run these commands so far: apt-get install apache2 apache2-doc apache2-mpm-prefork apache2-utils libexpat1 ssl-cert libapache2-mod-python python-django I've tried adding the module manually in the Apache 2 config files, but to be honest I'm totally lost. It's totally different to Apache version 1 which I used years ago.   I have a website and I just setup an os shopping cart (ie., Magento) I installed the cart in a sub-directory off the document root as /magento/ per the installation guidelines. So my web site cart's URL is http://mydomain.com/magento/ I have no public pages off the document root and I actually want my cart to be my home page -- in other words, I want http://mydomain.com/magento/ to resolve as http://mydomain.com/ Is it possible? Can I use mod-rewrite to make it happen? If so, can you suggest what the mod-rewrite directives would look like? Or is it simply a permanent redirect like: redirect 301 /magento http://mydomain.com/ Thanks.

  Codeigniter rewrites query strings like the following: http://somedomain.com/index.php?q=something to become: http://somedomain.com/index.php/q/something I'd like to imitate this behavior on a (very) lightweight website I am developing for a wedding RSVP system. I don't want the bloat of codeigniter, nor do I need anything else that it provides. The only thing I'd like is this. Unfortunately, I don't know how to setup a mod-rewrite rule that accomplishes this. I can setup a rule that translates /q/something into ?q=something, but I can't get one that does that without changing the URL the user is viewing. I'm basically looking for something that is, in effect, a "silent" version of the rewrite. That is, I want something that rewrites q/something to ?q=something, but leaves the user's URL in their address bar as q/something. Thanks in advance!

However at some points I need to add an extra variable or two to the query string such as 'admin/useraccounts/mod/2'. When I simply tack on bits to the end of the rewrite rule it works if all the variables are 'page/home/rand/rand' or 'admin/useraccounts/mod/2', but if anything is missing such as 'page/home' I get a 404. What am I doing wrong? Many thanks.

• Why are there tons of PHP processes open on my server?

  Today I saw that a website of mine isn't working so I ssh'd to the server and executed ps -eF. I see about 200 PHP processes that are running all for 4 hours. Apache is built with mpm event and mod fcgid. I killed all the PHP processes and now it's running fine, why does this happen? is this expected behavior? I don't really understand how processes how Apache keeps track of the number of PHP processes and their process IDs, so it would be nice if someone can also give some reference when I can read about this. Also, I used the "ab" command (Apache Benchmark) to see if this happens all the time, so I ran it about 4-5 times with 30 concurrent requests and again there are like 150 PHP processes running, when I keep running "ab" now it doesn't spawn more processes and the website is still working. Please shed some light on this! Thank you :)

• Mono and Apache are serving files with no ASP.NET processing

  On a new Rackspace Cloud Server box (Ubuntu 9.10), I've installed apache2, libapache2-mod-mono, and mod-mono-server2. I've disabled mod_mono and enabled mod_mono_auto, but whatever I do, requests for Default.aspx return the actual contents of Default.aspx (in this case, "This is a marker file generated by the precompilation tool, and should not be deleted!") I've installed XSP, and it looks like it works okay, but I'd like to use Apache with mod_mono (seems a more common configuration) if I can get it running. However, this is no error messages and no hints, with Google obviously not terribly helpful. What else can I look for to make sure I'm configured correctly? How can I test further?
