• Can't change read only folder in windows 7

  I'm trying to run a Spring MVC 2.5 tutorial and when I run the ant script for a deploy, I get this error: deploy: [copy] Copying 2 files to C:\apache-tomcat-7.0.8\webapps\c:\projects\workspace\springapp BUILD FAILED C:\projects\workspace\springapp\build.xml:46: Failed to copy C:\projects\workspace\springapp\war\WEB-INF\web.xml to C:\apache-tomcat-7.0.8\webapps\c:\projects\workspace\springapp\WEB-INF\web.xml due to failed to create the parent directory for C:\apache-tomcat-7.0.8\webapps\c:\projects\workspace\springapp\WEB-INF\web.xml After reviewing the directory: springapp I saw the properties as read-only. No problem I thought as I'm logging in as administrator. However, changing the uac settings, going to a command prompt as admin and then trying to change the properties of the folder with attrib, making me the owner of the folder, changing the security settings etc... did nothing. I can't seem to change this folder to anything. So my question is, how do I change the settings on that folder so ANT can make changes to that folder?

  I've used dbenham's excellent response to the question of how to add the folder name to the beginning of a filename in a cmd script. @echo off pushd "Folder" for /d %%D in (*) do ( for %%F in ("%%~D\*") do ( for %%P in ("%%F\..") do ( ren "%%F" "%%~nxP_%%~nxF" ) ) ) popd What I'm finding is that seemingly randomly (though it probably isn't) sometimes the script will run through several child folders and rename correctly but then it gets to a folder where it gets stuck in a loop and starts adding the folder name repeatedly to the file inside. I have 90,000 files in 300 folders to rename this weekend. Any chance you can guess the cause? PS: Is there a maximum number of files that are acceptable in each folder?

• How can I get at (and delete) emails in the "Conflicts" folder in Outlook 2007

  I use Outlook 2007 at work. It is syncd to a BlackBerry and an iPad. This works fine on the surface, but I have noticed a lot of emails build up in a Conflicts folder that I can't see. There is also a "Sync Issues" folder that I can't see, containing log files from sync issues. None of this should be a problem except that emails that were previously flagged but have since been deleted still turn up in the Conflicts folder, and thus still turn up in the To-Do bar. (They also occupy space on the server and count to my mailbox limit.) Is there a way to get at either the Conflicts folder itself, or construct a search that returns all the emails in that folder, so I can get rid of them? I can certainly delete them if I search by title or whatever, but it's annoying.

• Automate new AD user's home folder creation and permission setup

  I know if we setup a base folder or a profile path in the Profile tab of an AD user, we can copy it and the folder creation and permission setup will be automated. My problem is that not all my users have a roaming profile and the home folder linking is done thru GPO. When I copy from these users, the home folder isn't created automatically and I have to create it manually and change permission and ownership on that folder, located on the fileserver. What should I do? A script may be nice but it'd have to be run everytime a new user is created and I don't think we can link a script to an AD user creation? I'd like to avoid any manual steps and keep my GPO that way. Using a W2008r2 DC on w7 client boxes. Thanks.

• Windows 7 shared folder status info not showing in details pane

  Just upgraded my system to Windows 7 a few hours ago and noticed that there was no shared overlay icon on my shared folders anymore and after doing some reading I discovered that the icon was removed in Windows 7, stupid decision but w/eve. Anyway I have been reading that if a folder is shared then you can still see the shared status of a folder in the details pane in explorer whenever you select the folder, but this information is not available to me for some reason and I am not sure why. When I click on a shared folder in explorer the only information I see in the details pane is the folders name and the modified date/time info which is the same information I see for a folder that is not shared so my question is how do I get this information to display in the details pane like it's supposed to be.

• MS Outlook 2010 Folder Strucruture Search

  Ok I feel very dumb to ask this question. I would consider myself to be smart but i cannot figure this out. I work at helpdesk and today i received a call from user who lost folder in Outlook. When I connected to user's PC I discovered that user has several hundreds of folders. She had the same name folder in several different locations. When we did advance find for the messages we found them. It said that messages are located in folder X the only problem we could not locate the folder X in the list. Does anyone know of any way to quickly and easily browsing all the folders or looking up a folder in Outlook 2010?

  Suppose I have a folder with pictures in them. If I sort them by name once I open one with Image Viewer and navigate to the others the order is respected. But if I sort my files by modification date, for example, I can't do that. Basically, the default Image Viewer only lets you navigate images by name. According to this post on the ubuntuforums this has been an issue since 2007! Is there a good/easy way to fix it? Seems like such a trivial thing to me.

  What is the best way to share a folder between Win7 64bit (host) and Ubuntu 10.10 (guest) in VMware player? I can setup the sharing just fine (using vmware-tools), but all shared files are root:root owned with 777 permission set. Which, well, sucks. What can I do to have shared files with preserved ownership and permissions? I'm guessing I would need some kind of a file container, that would get mounted in Ubuntu as a block device (if so, it would need to be dynamic, i.e. expand with size of contained files). But maybe there is a better solution?

  So, I have VS 2010 installed and am in the process of modifying my MSBuild script for our TeamCity build integration. Everything is working great with one exception. How can I tell MSBuild that I want to apply the Web.conifg transform files that I've created when I publish the build... I have the following which produces the compiled web site but, it outputs a Web.config, Web.Debug.config and, Web.Release.config files (All 3) to the compiled output directory. • Optimized Publish/Subcribe JMS Broker Cluster and Conflicting Posts on StackOverFlow for the Answer

  Hi, I am looking to build a publish/subscribe distributed messaging framework that can manage huge volumes of message traffic with some intelligence at the broker level. I don't know if there's a topology that describes this, but this is the model I'm going after: EXAMPLE MODEL A A) There are two running message brokers (ideally all on localhost if possible, for easier demo-ing) : Broker-A Broker-B B) Each broker will have 2 listeners and 1 publisher. Example Figure [subscriber A1, subscriber A2, publisher A1] <-- BrokerA <-- BrokerB <-- [publisher B1, subscriber B1, subscriber B2] IF a message-X is published to broker A and there no subscribers for it among the listeners on Broker-B (via criteria in Message Selectors or Broker routing rules), then that message-X will never be published to Broker-B. ELSE, broker A will publish the message to broker B, where one of the broker B listeners/subscribers/services is expecting that message based on the subscription criteria. Is Clustering the Correct Approach? At first, I concluded that the "Broker Clustering" concept is what I needed to support this. However, as I have come to understand it, the typical use of clustering entails either: message redundancy across all brokers ... or Competing Consumers pattern ... and neither of these satisfy the requirement in the EXAMPLE MODEL A. What is the Correct Approach? My question is, does anyone know of a JMS implementation that supports the model I described? I scanned through all the stackoverflow post titles for the search: JMS and Cluster. • ASP.Net MVC DotNetOpenAuth Sample Issue on publish

  I'm trying to use the MSDN Open ID project template for ASP.NET MVC C#. I've been able to configure a local copy to run well. But when I publish it to my hosting provider - it craps out. The error is "500 internal server error". Is there something I should know about publishing this template that I haven't noticed? Here are some more details (for diligence): Hosting provider is GoDaddy/SQL2005/IIS7. When I configure & publish the blank MVC template, it works. The local database publishes successfully, but I haven't been able to troubleshoot the connection in web.config yet. I expect there are connection string problems in the file. I tried disabling all of the references to log4net, as it seemed to be invoked several times on startup. But those changes did not seem to make a difference in either the local or published application performance. My IDE is Visual Studio 2010 Pro Any help would be greatly appreciated!

• IIS publish of WCF service -- fails with no error message

  I havea WCF service which I publish from Visual Studio 2008 to an IIS 6. According to the output window of VS, the publish succeeded, no error messages or warnings. When I look at IIS, the virtual directory was created, but there is no .svc listed in the directory. The directory just has my web.config and a bin. Any attempts to call my WCF service fail cause they don't exist. How can I see an error message of what's going wrong? By trial-and-error, I discovered changing my app.config before publishing will make the service show up. Namely my app.config file has these lines: <binding ...> <security mode="Transport"> <transport clientCreditionalType="None"/> </security> </binding> If I switch "Transport" to "None", then my service shows up on IIS. But I do have a certificate installed on IIS on the server, and as far as I can tell, everything is configured correctly on the server. There is no error message in the event log. How can I get a find more error messages about why the service is failing to show up?

Currently I am doing rename /my/data/Andrew.doc to /my/data/Andrew.txt I would like to do this for all the .doc files from the /my/data/ folder and to preserve the name. I tried several versions but I guess I have something wrong in the syntax as I an new to linux.

  Whenever I try to open a file (such as an .odt, or .doc) from say, the Dash or the Firefox Downloads, Ubuntu 11.10 opens Nautilus to the the folder where the file is, rather than just going to the application and loading the file straight away. In previous releases, when I clicked on a downloaded file, it just went straight to LibreOffice, and it was fine. This is adding a superfluous step in the process. How do I associate the correct extensions?

  I have a 25gig partition in ext4 for ubuntu, an NTFS 25gig partition for W7,a logical swap of 2gig, and then a logical 60 gig partition in fat32 which i've read is the correct file system for files as music, pics, videos i want to share with Windows.   I am trying to install OpenNi on ubuntu and have found some decent looking instructions but I am not sure what I need to do for this one specific case.   My Desktop (Ubuntu 12.10) and Laptop (Win 7) happily sync files. The Ubuntu One folders are perfectly in sync. I have an Asus Transformer with the Ubuntu One app installed. I can read files from the cloud, and they download to a U1 folder. If I edit the files in the Asus (say a sheet in Kingsoft) it appears they never go back to the cloud unless I physically select the file to be uploaded. Is this correct?

  I have installed vmware toolbox in ubuntu (guest OS). I tried to share a location from the settings of the virtual machine. But when I click Ok, the following error in thrown in the host (Win 7) OS. "Unable to update run-time folder sharing status: Unknown error." The location is not showing up in /mnt/ What could be the reason? P.S I have vmhgfs process running in my Ubuntu VM. I was following this method.
