I get this error when I try to import ssrc.spread: ImportError: dlopen(/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/ssrc/_spread.so, 2): Symbol not found: __ZN17ssrcspread_v1_0_67Mailbox11ZeroTimeoutE The file in question (_spread.so) includes the symbol: $ nm _spread.so | grep _ZN17ssrcspread_v1_0_67Mailbox11ZeroTimeoutE U __ZN17ssrcspread_v1_0_67Mailbox11ZeroTimeoutE U __ZN17ssrcspread_v1_0_67Mailbox11ZeroTimeoutE (twice because the file is a fat ppc/x86 binary) The archive header information of _spread.so is: $ otool -fahv _spread.so Fat headers fat_magic FAT_MAGIC nfat_arch 2 architecture ppc7400 cputype CPU_TYPE_POWERPC cpusubtype CPU_SUBTYPE_POWERPC_7400 capabilities 0x0 offset 4096 size 235272 align 2^12 (4096) architecture i386 cputype CPU_TYPE_I386 cpusubtype CPU_SUBTYPE_I386_ALL capabilities 0x0 offset 241664 size 229360 align 2^12 (4096) /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/ssrc/_spread.so (architecture ppc7400): Mach header magic cputype cpusubtype caps filetype ncmds sizeofcmds flags MH_MAGIC PPC ppc7400 0x00 BUNDLE 10 1420 NOUNDEFS DYLDLINK BINDATLOAD TWOLEVEL WEAK_DEFINES BINDS_TO_WEAK /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/site-packages/ssrc/_spread.so (architecture i386): Mach header magic cputype cpusubtype caps filetype ncmds sizeofcmds flags MH_MAGIC I386 ALL 0x00 BUNDLE 11 1604 NOUNDEFS DYLDLINK BINDATLOAD TWOLEVEL WEAK_DEFINES BINDS_TO_WEAK And my python is python 2.6.4: $ which python | xargs otool -fahv Fat headers fat_magic FAT_MAGIC nfat_arch 2 architecture ppc cputype CPU_TYPE_POWERPC cpusubtype CPU_SUBTYPE_POWERPC_ALL capabilities 0x0 offset 4096 size 9648 align 2^12 (4096) architecture i386 cputype CPU_TYPE_I386 cpusubtype CPU_SUBTYPE_I386_ALL capabilities 0x0 offset 16384 size 13176 align 2^12 (4096) /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/bin/python (architecture ppc): Mach header magic cputype cpusubtype caps filetype ncmds sizeofcmds flags MH_MAGIC PPC ALL 0x00 EXECUTE 11 1268 NOUNDEFS DYLDLINK TWOLEVEL /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/bin/python (architecture i386): Mach header magic cputype cpusubtype caps filetype ncmds sizeofcmds flags MH_MAGIC I386 ALL 0x00 EXECUTE 11 1044 NOUNDEFS DYLDLINK TWOLEVEL There seems to be a difference in the ppc architecture in the files, but I'm running on an intel, so I don't see why this should cause a problem. So why might the symbol not be found?

  • How to make python_select work for '$>python' command?

    - by Jim
I installed a couple of pythons in different versions with macports, and the apple python 2.6 is also working. Now I need to run a program which requires MySQLdb package support in python, and this package was installed to the python I installed by macports. The program tells me that there is no MySQLdb installed, so I guess it is the apple python working for that program. I searched for some help and found python_select for switching between pythons. However after the command $>sudo python_select python25 told me that it selected the version "python25" for python, when I type $>python it is still apple python 2.6 that launches. The question is that how can I make python25(the one with MySQLdb) work for the program rather than apple python? Another important thing, the program is NOT a .py file and needs to be compiled before running. So do I need to re-install this program? My Mac OS version is Snow Leopard 10.6. Any answer is appreciated.

  • cannot output a json encoded dict containing accents (noob inside)

    - by user296546
Hi all, here is a fairly simple example wich is driving me nuts since a couple of days. Considering the following script: # -*- coding: utf-8 -* from json import dumps as json_dumps machaine = u"une personne émérite" print(machaine) output = {} output[1] = machaine jsonoutput = json_dumps(output) print(jsonoutput) The result of this from cli: une personne émérite {"1": "une personne \u00e9m\u00e9rite"} I don't understand why their such a difference between the two strings. i have been trying all sorts of encode, decode etc but i can't seem to be able to find the right way to do it. Does anybody has an idea ? Thanks in advance. Matthieu

  • How GAE emulator limits list of available Python modules?

    - by Konstantin
I installed Python Mock module using PIP. When I try to import mock running under 'dev_appserver', GAE says that it can't find module 'mock'. import mock works perfectly in Python interpreter. I understand that dev_appserver behaves absolutely correctly because I can't install modules with PIP on GAE servers. My question is how technically dev_appserver filters list of modules that can be loaded?

  • How should I go about learning Python?

    - by user345690
I am currently learning PHP and want to learn about OOP. *1.*I know Python is a well-organized and is all OOP, so would learning Python be a wise choose to learn OOP? The thing is I am more towards web development then just general programming, and I know Python is just a general purpose language, but there is Django. *2*So how should I go about learning Python if I am lending towards web development? Is there any good books/websites that help me learn Python for web development? 3. Is there any free webhosting companies that allow Python? I never used Python before, only PHP, and not sure how it works? Can I run Python on a localhost?

  • Noob Python Question: List Confusion

    - by potatocubed
I'm trying to transfer the contents of one list to another, but it's not working and I don't know why not. My code looks like this: list1 = [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6] list2 = [] for item in list1: list2.append(item) list1.remove(item) But if I run it my output looks like this: >>> list1 [2, 4, 6] >>> list2 [1, 3, 5] My question is threefold, I guess: Why is this happening, how do I make it work, and am I overlooking an incredibly simple solution like a 'move' statement or something?

  • Looking for a smarter way to convert a Python list to a GList?

    - by Kingdom of Fish
I'm really new to C - Python interaction and am currently writing a small app in C which will read a file (using Python to parse it) and then using the parsed information to execute small Python snippets. At the moment I'm feeling very much like I'm reinventing wheels, for example this function: typedef gpointer (list_func)(PyObject *obj); GList *pylist_to_glist(list_func func, PyObject *pylist) { GList *result = NULL; if (func == NULL) { fprintf(stderr, "No function definied for coverting PyObject.\n"); } else if (PyList_Check(pylist)) { PyObject *pIter = PyObject_GetIter(pylist); PyObject *pItem; while ((pItem = PyIter_Next(pIter))) { gpointer obj = func(pItem); if (obj != NULL) result = g_list_append(result, obj); else fprintf(stderr, "Could not convert PyObject to C object.\n"); Py_DECREF(pItem); } Py_DECREF(pIter); } return result; } I would really like to do this in a easier/smarter way less prone to memory leaks and errors. All comments and suggestions are appreciated.

  • How can I learn to effectively write Pythonic code?

    - by Matt Fenwick
I'm tired of getting downvoted and/or semi-rude comments on my Python answers, saying things like "this isn't Pythonic" or "that's not the Python way of doing things". To clarify, I'm not tired of getting corrected and downvoted, and I'm not tired of being wrong: I'm tired of feeling like there's a whole field of Python that I know nothing about, and seems to be implicit knowledge of experienced Python programmers. Doing a google search for "Pythonic" reveals a wide range of interpretations. The wikipedia page says: A common neologism in the Python community is pythonic, which can have a wide range of meanings related to program style. To say that code is pythonic is to say that it uses Python idioms well, that it is natural or shows fluency in the language. Likewise, to say of an interface or language feature that it is pythonic is to say that it works well with Python idioms, that its use meshes well with the rest of the language. It also discusses the term "unpythonic": In contrast, a mark of unpythonic code is that it attempts to write C++ (or Lisp, Perl, or Java) code in Python—that is, provides a rough transcription rather than an idiomatic translation of forms from another language. The concept of pythonicity is tightly bound to Python's minimalist philosophy of readability and avoiding the "there's more than one way to do it" approach. Unreadable code or incomprehensible idioms are unpythonic. I suspect one way to learn the Pythonic way is just to program in Python a whole bunch. But I bet I could write a bunch of crap and not improve that much without some guidance, whereas a good resource might speed up the learning process significantly. PEP 8 might be exactly what I'm looking for, or maybe not. I'm not sure; on the one hand it covers a lot of ground, but on the other hand, I feel like it's more suited as a reference for knowledgeable programmers than a tutorial for fresh 'uns. How do I get my foot in the Pythonic/Python way of doing things door?

  • (help help!!!) Easy_install the wrong version of python modules (Mac OS)

    - by user71415
I installed Python 2.7 in my mac. When typing "python" in terminal, it shows: Ma-Xiaolongs-MacBook-Pro-2:~ MaXiaolong$ python Python 2.7 (r27:82508, Jul 3 2010, 20:17:05) [GCC 4.0.1 (Apple Inc. build 5493)] on darwin Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. The Python version is correct here. But when I try to easy_install some modules. The system will install the modules with python version 2.6 which are not able be imported to Python 2.7. And of course I can not do the functions I need in my code. Here's an example of easy_install graphy: Ma-Xiaolongs-MacBook-Pro-2:~ MaXiaolong$ easy_install graphy Searching for graphy Reading pypi.python.org/simple/graphy/ Reading http://code.google.com/p/graphy/ Best match: Graphy 1.0.0 Downloading http://pypi.python.org/packages/source/G/Graphy/Graphy- 1.0.0.tar.gz#md5=390b4f9194d81d0590abac90c8b717e0 Processing Graphy-1.0.0.tar.gz Running Graphy-1.0.0/setup.py -q bdist_egg --dist-dir /var/folders/fH/fHwdy4WtHZOBytkg1nOv9E+++TI/-Tmp-/easy_install-cFL53r/Graphy-1.0.0/egg-dist-tmp-YtDCZU warning: no files found matching '.tmpl' under directory 'graphy' warning: no files found matching '.txt' under directory 'graphy' warning: no files found matching '.h' under directory 'graphy' warning: no previously-included files matching '.pyc' found under directory '.' warning: no previously-included files matching '~' found under directory '.' warning: no previously-included files matching '.aux' found under directory '.' zip_safe flag not set; analyzing archive contents... graphy.all_tests: module references file Adding Graphy 1.0.0 to easy-install.pth file Installed /Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/Graphy-1.0.0-py2.6.egg Processing dependencies for graphy Finished processing dependencies for graphy So it installs graphy for python 2.6. • Installing a clean Python 2.6 on SuSE (SLES) 11 using system-wide libraries

    - by optilude
Hi, I've spent most of the day on this, and it is driving me absolutely insane. On all other Unixes I've used, this is a walk in the park, but SLES 11 has me dumbfounded. I need to build Zope on SLES 11 64 bit: Linux <name> 2.6.27.45-0.1-default #1 SMP 2010-02-22 16:49:47 +0100 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux I first tried to just use the YaST-installed Python 2.6. I've also installed python-devel, libjpeg-devel, readline-devel, libopenssl-devel, libz2-devel, zlib-devel, and libgcrypt-devel. The global python2.6 has a lot of cruft in it, and seems to execute stuff in /etc/pythonstart when I use it, which doesn't help. However, the error I get is this: Getting distribution for 'Zope2==2.12.3'. src/AccessControl/cAccessControl.c:596: warning: initialization from incompatible pointer type src/AccessControl/cAccessControl.c:598: warning: ‘intargfunc’ is deprecated src/AccessControl/cAccessControl.c:598: warning: initialization from incompatible pointer type src/AccessControl/cAccessControl.c:599: warning: ‘intargfunc’ is deprecated src/AccessControl/cAccessControl.c:599: warning: initialization from incompatible pointer type src/AccessControl/cAccessControl.c:600: warning: ‘intintargfunc’ is deprecated src/AccessControl/cAccessControl.c:600: warning: initialization from incompatible pointer type src/AccessControl/cAccessControl.c:601: warning: initialization from incompatible pointer type src/AccessControl/cAccessControl.c:602: warning: initialization from incompatible pointer type src/AccessControl/cAccessControl.c:606: warning: ‘intargfunc’ is deprecated src/AccessControl/cAccessControl.c:606: warning: initialization from incompatible pointer type /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/4.3/../../../../x86_64-suse-linux/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib/libpython2.6.so when searching for -lpython2.6 /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/4.3/../../../../x86_64-suse-linux/bin/ld: cannot find -lpython2.6 collect2: ld returned 1 exit status error: Setup script exited with error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1 An error occured when trying to install Zope2 2.12.3. Look above this message for any errors that were output by easy_install. I don't know what "incompatible" is referring to here; my guess would be the hardware architecture, but I'm not sure what's incompatible with what in the statement above. I've had problems with system-installed Pythons before, so I tried to compile my own (hence the list of -devel packages above), downloading the Python 2.6 tarball and running: ./configure --disable-tk --prefix=${HOME}/python make make install This installs, but it seems to be unable to find any system-wide libraries. Here's a sample interpreter session: Python 2.6.5 (r265:79063, Mar 29 2010, 17:04:12) [GCC 4.3.2 [gcc-4_3-branch revision 141291]] on linux2 Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. On Ubuntu or OS X, this works just fine. On SuSE, no luck. Any help greatly appreciated! Martin

  • Configure FastCGI for Python

    - by Rob
I have nginx running on a VM and I want to run a Trac site. I need to run a python FastCGI server, but I cannot tell which is the server to use. I have found the following: <a href="http://redmine.lighttpd.net/projects/spawn-fcgi">Lighttpd spawn-fcgi</a> But this seems to require that you compile lighttpd just to get the fcgi server, which is weird. <a href="http://svn.saddi.com/py-lib/trunk/fcgi.py">fcgi.py</a> But this one seems to be depreciated. At the very least it is poorly documented. <a href="http://trac.saddi.com/flup">flup</a> This one comes with dependencies on ubuntu (python-cheetah{a} python-mysqldb{a} python-webpy{a}) that seem unnecessary. Also poorly documented. Are their any recent guides for setting this up. Trac's own FastCGI setup page seems to miss some steps.

This works fine : c:\cygwin\bin\python2.6.exe c:\cygwin\bin\python-script This python-script accesses a file: ~/.some_config_file which translates to /home/user-name when i execute it from Windows as above. So this works as expected. Now, the next step is to execute this python script from ruby(which is setup on Windows natively w/o Cygwin). When i execute the script from ruby, the ~/.some_config_file translates to /cygdrive/c/Users/user-name instead of the expected /home/user-name leading to the script failing. I understand that something in the environment, PATH etc needs to be set correctly although i cannot seem to find what exactly.

  • /usr/bin/python Replacement

    - by tikiking1
If I've changed the target of /usr/bin/python from /usr/bin/python2.7 to /usr/bin/python3.2 (I realize this was an ABSOUTELY HORRIBLE idea) in Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS. Afterwards, several applications, including software-center and update-manager have stopped working. Insofar as I can tell, this is because they are written in Python2.7. I replaced the default /usr/bin/python shebang with the 2.7 one, and this fixes them on the application level. Switching /usr/bin/python back to /usr/bin/python2.7 really isn't an option, but is there a list of all applications installed by default in Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS, if installed from a new CD-R, that use a shebang of #!/usr/bin/python instead of #!/usr/bin/pythonX.Y?

  • Help me finish this Python 3.x self-challenge.

    - by Hamish Grubijan
This is not a homework. I saw this article praising Linq library and how great it is for doing combinatorics stuff, and I thought to myself: Python can do it in a more readable fashion. After half hour of dabbing with Python I failed. Please finish where I left off. Also, do it in the most Pythonic and efficient way possible please. from itertools import permutations from operator import mul from functools import reduce glob_lst = [] def divisible(n): return (sum(j*10^i for i,j in enumerate(reversed(glob_lst))) % n == 0) oneToNine = list(range(1, 10)) twoToNine = oneToNine[1:] for perm in permutations(oneToNine, 9): for n in twoToNine: glob_lst = perm[1:n] #print(glob_lst) if not divisible(n): continue else: # Is invoked if the loop succeeds # So, we found the number print(perm) Thanks!

  • uWSGI and Nginx python file handling

    - by user133507
I've been trying to figure out how to propertly utilize uWSGI with Nginx and have hit a bit of a design roadblock. I'm trying to figure out how my python files should be accessed via uWSGI. I've been able to find 3 different ways to do so: Create a uWSGI process for each python file and then create locations in nginx that pass to each uWSGI process. Create one instance of uWSGI and create a master python file that handles all the different requests. Create one instance of uWSGI and setup dynamic applications I'm coming from LightTPD where I simply setup rewrites to point at the different python files. I feel like 3 is the closest to that but uWSGI says that it is not the recommended way of going about it.
