  • Visual Studio 2013, ASP.NET MVC 5 Scaffolded Controls, and Bootstrap

    - by plitwin
    A few days ago, I created an ASP.NET MVC 5 project in the brand new Visual Studio 2013. I added some model classes and then proceeded to scaffold a controller class and views using the Entity Framework. Scaffolding Some Views Visual Studio 2013, by default, uses the Bootstrap 3 responsive CSS framework. Great; after all, we all want our web sites to be responsive and work well on mobile devices. Here’s an example of a scaffolded Create view as shown in Google Chrome browser   Looks pretty good. Okay, so let’s increase the width of the Title, Description, Address, and Date/Time textboxes. And decrease the width of the  State and MaxActors textbox controls. Can’t be that hard… Digging Into the Code Let’s take a look at the scaffolded Create.cshtml file. Here’s a snippet of code behind the Create view. Pretty simple stuff. @using (Html.BeginForm()) { @Html.AntiForgeryToken() <div class="form-horizontal"> <h4>RandomAct</h4> <hr /> @Html.ValidationSummary(true) <div class="form-group"> @Html.LabelFor(model => model.Title, new { @class = "control-label col-md-2" }) <div class="col-md-10"> @Html.EditorFor(model => model.Title) @Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.Title) </div> </div> <div class="form-group"> @Html.LabelFor(model => model.Description, new { @class = "control-label col-md-2" }) <div class="col-md-10"> @Html.EditorFor(model => model.Description) @Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.Description) </div> </div> .csharpcode, .csharpcode pre { font-size: small; color: black; font-family: consolas, "Courier New", courier, monospace; background-color: #ffffff; /*white-space: pre;*/ } .csharpcode pre { margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .rem { color: #008000; } .csharpcode .kwrd { color: #0000ff; } .csharpcode .str { color: #006080; } .csharpcode .op { color: #0000c0; } .csharpcode .preproc { color: #cc6633; } .csharpcode .asp { background-color: #ffff00; } .csharpcode .html { color: #800000; } .csharpcode .attr { color: #ff0000; } .csharpcode .alt { background-color: #f4f4f4; width: 100%; margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .lnum { color: #606060; } A little more digging and I discover that there are three CSS files of importance in how the page is rendered: boostrap.css (and its minimized cohort) and site.css as shown below.   The Root of the Problem And here’s the root of the problem which you’ll find the following CSS in Site.css: /* Set width on the form input elements since they're 100% wide by default */ input, select, textarea { max-width: 280px; } .csharpcode, .csharpcode pre { font-size: small; color: black; font-family: consolas, "Courier New", courier, monospace; background-color: #ffffff; /*white-space: pre;*/ } .csharpcode pre { margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .rem { color: #008000; } .csharpcode .kwrd { color: #0000ff; } .csharpcode .str { color: #006080; } .csharpcode .op { color: #0000c0; } .csharpcode .preproc { color: #cc6633; } .csharpcode .asp { background-color: #ffff00; } .csharpcode .html { color: #800000; } .csharpcode .attr { color: #ff0000; } .csharpcode .alt { background-color: #f4f4f4; width: 100%; margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .lnum { color: #606060; } Yes, Microsoft is for some reason setting the maximum width of all input, select, and textarea controls to 280 pixels. Not sure the motivation behind this, but until you change this or overrride this by assigning the form controls to some other CSS class, your controls will never be able to be wider than 280px. The Fix Okay, so here’s the deal: I hope to become very competent in all things Bootstrap in the near future, but I don’t think you should have to become a Bootstrap guru in order to modify some scaffolded control widths. And you don’t. Here is the solution I came up with: Find the aforementioned CSS code in SIte.css and change it to something more tenable. Such as: /* Set width on the form input elements since they're 100% wide by default */ input, select, textarea { max-width: 600px; } Because the @Html.EditorFor html helper doesn’t support the passing of HTML attributes, you will need to repalce any @Html.EditorFor() helpers with @Html.TextboxFor(), @Html.TextAreaFor, @Html.CheckBoxFor, etc. helpers, and then add a custom width attribute to each control you wish to modify. Thus, the earlier stretch of code might end up looking like this: @using (Html.BeginForm()) { @Html.AntiForgeryToken() <div class="form-horizontal"> <h4>Random Act</h4> <hr /> @Html.ValidationSummary(true) <div class="form-group"> @Html.LabelFor(model => model.Title, new { @class = "control-label col-md-2" }) <div class="col-md-10"> @Html.TextBoxFor(model => model.Title, new { style = "width: 400px" }) @Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.Title) </div> </div> <div class="form-group"> @Html.LabelFor(model => model.Description, new { @class = "control-label col-md-2" }) <div class="col-md-10"> @Html.TextAreaFor(model => model.Description, new { style = "width: 400px" }) @Html.ValidationMessageFor(model => model.Description) </div> </div> .csharpcode, .csharpcode pre { font-size: small; color: black; font-family: consolas, "Courier New", courier, monospace; background-color: #ffffff; /*white-space: pre;*/ } .csharpcode pre { margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .rem { color: #008000; } .csharpcode .kwrd { color: #0000ff; } .csharpcode .str { color: #006080; } .csharpcode .op { color: #0000c0; } .csharpcode .preproc { color: #cc6633; } .csharpcode .asp { background-color: #ffff00; } .csharpcode .html { color: #800000; } .csharpcode .attr { color: #ff0000; } .csharpcode .alt { background-color: #f4f4f4; width: 100%; margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .lnum { color: #606060; } Resulting Form Here’s what the page looks like after the fix: Technorati Tags: ASP.NET MVC,ASP.NET MVC 5,Bootstrap

  • Can a whitespace regex character be used to perform a javascript injection? [migrated]

    - by webose
    if I want to validate the input of a <textarea>, and want it to contain, for example, only numerical values, but even want to give users the possibility to insert new lines, I can selected wanted characters with a javascript regex that includes even the whitespace characters. /[0-9\s]/ The question is: do a whitecharacter can be used to perform injections, XSS,even if I think this last option is impossible, or any other type of attack ? thanks

  • jQuery.closest(); traversing down the DOM not up

    - by Alex
    Afternoon peoples. I am having a bit of a nightmare traversing a DOM tree properly. I have the following markup <div class="node" id="first-wh"> <div class="content-heading has-tools"> <div class="tool-menu" style="position: relative"> <span class="menu-open stepper-down"></span> <ul class="tool-menu-tools" style="display:none;"> <li><img src="/resources/includes/images/layout/tools-menu/edit22.png" /> Edit <input type="hidden" class="variables" value="edit,hobbies,text,/theurl" /></li> <li>Menu 2</li> <li>Menu 3</li> </ul> </div> <h3>Employment History</h3></div> <div class="content-body editable disabled"> <h3 class="dates">1st January 2010 - 10th June 2010</h3> <h3>Company</h3> <h4>Some Company</h4> <h3>Job Title</h3> <h4>IT Manager</h4> <h3>Job Description</h3> <p class="desc">I headed up the IT department for all things concerning IT and infrastructure</p> <h3>Roles &amp; Responsibilities</h3> <p class="desc">It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).</p> </div> <div class="content-body edit-node edit-node-hide"> <input class="variables" type="hidden" value="id,function-id" /> <h3 class="element-title">Employment Dates</h3> <span class="label">From:</span> <input class="edit-mode date date-from" type="text" value="date" /> <span class="label">To:</span> <input class="edit-mode date date-to" type="text" value="date" /> <h3 class="element-title">Company</h3> <input class="edit-mode" type="text" value="The company I worked for" /> <h3 class="element-title">Job Title</h3> <input class="edit-mode" type="text" value="My job title" /> <h3 class="element-title">Job Description</h3> <textarea class="edit-mode" type="text">The Job Title</textarea> <h3 class="element-title">Roles &amp; Responsibilities</h3> <textarea class="edit-mode" type="text">It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. And I am trying to traverse from input.save at the bottom right the way up to div.node... This all works well with one copy of the markup but if I duplicate it (obvisouly changing the ID of the uppermost div.node and use jQuery.closest('div.node') for the upper of the div.node's it will return the element below it not the element above it (which is the right one). I've tried using parents() but that also has it's caveats. Is there some kind of contexyt that can be attached to closest to make it go up and not down? or is there a better way to do this. jQuery code below. $(".save").click(function(){ var element=$(this); var enodes=element.parents('.edit-node').find('input.variables'); var variables=enodes.val(); var onode=element.closest('div.node').find('.editable'); var enode=element.closest('div.node').find('.edit-node-hide'); var vnode=element.closest('div.node-actions').find('input.checkdisable'); var isvis=(vnode.is(":checked")) ? onode.removeClass('disabled') : onode.addClass('disabled'); onode.slideDown(200); enode.fadeOut(100); }); Thanks in advance. Alex P.S It seems that stackoverflow has done something weird to the markup! - I just triple checked it and it is fine but for some reason it's concate'd it below

  • MVC4 Model in View has nested data - cannot get data in model

    - by Taersious
    I have a Model defined that gets me a View with a list of RadioButtons, per IEnumerable. Within that Model, I want to display a list of checkboxes that will vary based on the item selected. Finally, there will be a Textarea in the same view once the user has selected from the available checkboxes, with some dynamic text there based on the CheckBoxes that are selected. What we should end up with is a Table-per-hierarchy. The layout is such that the RadioButtonList is in the first table cell, the CheckBoxList is in the middle table cell, and the Textarea is ini the right table cell. If anyone can guide me to what my model-view should be to achieve this result, I'll be most pleased... Here are my codes: // // View Model for implementing radio button list public class RadioButtonViewModel { // objects public List<RadioButtonItem> RadioButtonList { get; set; } public string SelectedRadioButton { get; set; } } // // Object for handling each radio button public class RadioButtonItem { // this object public string Name { get; set; } public bool Selected { get; set; } public int ObjectId { get; set; } // columns public virtual IEnumerable<CheckBoxItem> CheckBoxItems { get; set; } } // // Object for handling each checkbox public class CheckBoxViewModel { public List<CheckBoxItem> CheckBoxList { get; set; } } // // Object for handling each check box public class CheckBoxItem { public string Name { get; set; } public bool Selected { get; set; } public int ObjectId { get; set; } public virtual RadioButtonItem RadioButtonItem { get; set; } } and the view @model IEnumerable<EF_Utility.Models.RadioButtonItem> @{ ViewBag.Title = "Connect"; ViewBag.Selected = Request["name"] != null ? Request["name"].ToString() : ""; } @using (Html.BeginForm("Objects" , "Home", FormMethod.Post) ){ @Html.ValidationSummary(true) <table> <tbody> <tr> <td style="border: 1px solid grey; vertical-align:top;"> <table> <tbody> <tr> <th style="text-align:left; width: 50px;">Select</th> <th style="text-align:left;">View or Table Name</th> </tr> @{ foreach (EF_Utility.Models.RadioButtonItem item in @Model ) { <tr> <td> @Html.RadioButton("RadioButtonViewModel.SelectedRadioButton", item.Name, ViewBag.Selected == item.Name ? true : item.Selected, new { @onclick = "this.form.action='/Home/Connect?name=" + item.Name + "'; this.form.submit(); " }) </td> <td> @Html.DisplayFor(i => item.Name) </td> </tr> } } </tbody> </table> </td> <td style="border: 1px solid grey; width: 220px; vertical-align:top; @(ViewBag.Selected == "" ? "display:none;" : "")"> <table> <tbody> <tr> <th>Column </th> </tr> <tr> <td><!-- checkboxes will go here --> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </td> <td style="border: 1px solid grey; vertical-align:top; @(ViewBag.Selected == "" ? "display:none;" : "")"> <textarea name="output" id="output" rows="24" cols="48"></textarea> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> } and the relevant controller public ActionResult Connect() { /* TEST SESSION FIRST*/ if( Session["connstr"] == null) return RedirectToAction("Index"); else { ViewBag.Message = ""; ViewBag.ConnectionString = Server.UrlDecode( Session["connstr"].ToString() ); ViewBag.Server = ParseConnectionString( ViewBag.ConnectionString, "Data Source" ); ViewBag.Database = ParseConnectionString( ViewBag.ConnectionString, "Initial Catalog" ); using( var db = new SysDbContext(ViewBag.ConnectionString)) { var objects = db.Set<SqlObject>().ToArray(); var model = objects .Select( o => new RadioButtonItem { Name = o.Name, Selected = false, ObjectId = o.Object_Id, CheckBoxItems = Enumerable.Empty<EF_Utility.Models.CheckBoxItem>() } ) .OrderBy( rb => rb.Name ); return View( model ); } } } What I am missing it seems, is the code in my Connect() method that will bring the data context forward; at that point, it should be fairly straight-forward to set up the Html for the View. EDIT ** So I am going to need to bind the RadioButtonItem to the view with something like the following, except my CheckBoxList will NOT be an empty set. // // POST: /Home/Connect/ [HttpPost] public ActionResult Connect( RadioButtonItem rbl ) { /* TEST SESSION FIRST*/ if ( Session["connstr"] == null ) return RedirectToAction( "Index" ); else { ViewBag.Message = ""; ViewBag.ConnectionString = Server.UrlDecode( Session["connstr"].ToString() ); ViewBag.Server = ParseConnectionString( ViewBag.ConnectionString, "Data Source" ); ViewBag.Database = ParseConnectionString( ViewBag.ConnectionString, "Initial Catalog" ); using ( var db = new SysDbContext( ViewBag.ConnectionString ) ) { var objects = db.Set<SqlObject>().ToArray(); var model = objects .Select( o => new RadioButtonItem { Name = o.Name, Selected = false, ObjectId = o.Object_Id, CheckBoxItems = Enumerable.Empty<EF_Utility.Models.CheckBoxItem>() } ) .OrderBy( rb => rb.Name ); return View( model ); } } }

Thanks in advance!

  • Comments show up in database, but only show up on my index page after a refresh.

    - by Truong
    Hi, I have AJAX, PHP, jquery, and mySQL in this very simple website I'm trying to make. All there is is a text area that sends data to the database and uses ajax\jquery to display that data onto the index page. For some reason though, I press submit and the data goes to the database, but I have to refresh the page myself to see that data on the page. I'm assuming that the problem has to do with my AJAX JQuery or even some mistake in the index. Also, when I type the text into the text area and press submit, the text remains in the textarea until I refresh the page. Haha, sorry if this is such a noob question.. I'm trying to learn. Thanks so much Here is the AJAX: <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.0/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $(".submit").click(function() { var comment = $("#comment").val(); var post_id = $("#post").val(); var dataString = '&comment=' + comment if(comment=='') { alert('Fill something in please!'); } else { $("#flash").show(); $("#flash").fadeIn(400).html('<img src="noworries.jpg" /> '); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "commentajax.php", data: dataString, cache: false, success: function(html){ $("ol#update").append(html); $("ol#update li:last").fadeIn("slow"); $("#flash").hide(); } }); }return false; }); }); </script> Here is the index\form area: <body> <div id="container"><img src="banner.jpg" width="890" height="150" alt="title" /></div> <id="update" class="timeline"> <div id="flash"></div> <div id="container"> <form action="#" method="post"> <textarea name="comment" id="comment" cols="35" rows="4"></textarea><br /> <input name="submit" type="submit" class="submit" id="submit" value=" Submit Comment " /><br /> </form> </div> <id="update" class="timeline"> <?php include('config.php'); //$post_id value comes from the POSTS table $prefix="I'm happy when"; $sql=mysql_query("select * from comments order by com_id desc"); while($row=mysql_fetch_array($sql)) { $comment=$row['com_dis']; ?> <!--Displaying comments--> <div id="container"> <class="box"> <?php echo "$prefix $comment"; ?> </div> <?php } ?> Here is my commentajax.php <?php include('config.php'); if($_POST) { $comment=$_POST['comment']; $comment=mysql_real_escape_string($comment); mysql_query("INSERT INTO comments(com_id,com_dis) VALUES ('NULL', '$comment')"); } ?> <li class="box"><br /> <?php echo $comment; ?> </li> I'm sorry for so much code but I just started learning this four days ago and this is probably one of the last bugs until the website is functional.

  • Need help with reCAPTCHA - keep getting incorrect-captcha-sol

    - by Anriëtte Combrink
    Hi I am trying to add a reCAPTCHA to my site, but keep getting incorrect-captcha-sol error when I submit the answer. Can anyone tell me if I am correct in doing the following? I have a generic index.php, which includes contact.php. In contact.php I have inserted the following code: require_once('recaptchalib.php'); $publickey = "XXXX"; $privatekey = "XXXX"; //the response from reCAPTCHA $resp = null; //the error code from reCAPTCHA, if any $error = null; if ($_POST['submit']) { $message = $_POST['message_txt']; $name = $_POST['name_txt']; $email = $_POST['email_txt']; $emailBody = $message; $to = 'xx'; $from = $name.' <'.$email.'>'; $subject = 'XX Website Enquiry'; $headers = 'From: '.$from; $resp = recaptcha_check_answer($privatekey, $_SERVER["REMOTE_ADDR"], $_POST["recaptcha_challenge_field"], $_POST["recaptcha_response_field"]); if ($resp->is_valid) { echo 'captcha correct'; if (mail($to,$subject,$emailBody,$headers)) { //echo 'mail sent'; $confirmation = 'sent'; } else { //echo 'mail not sent'; $confirmation = 'error'; } } else { # set the error code so that we can display it. You could also use # die ("reCAPTCHA failed"), but using the error message is # more user friendly $error = $resp->error; echo $error; } } In my html I inserted the CAPTCHA like this: <form name="contactForm" method="post" action="index.php?id=contact&action=submit#contact"> <tr><td>Name</td><td><div align="right"> <input type="text" name="name_txt" class="input"> </div></td></tr> <tr><td>Email</td><td><div align="right"> <input type="text" name="email_txt" class="input"> </div></td></tr> <tr><td height="10"></td></tr> <tr><td colspan="2">Message</td></tr> <tr><td colspan="2"><textarea name="message_txt" class="textarea" style="width:200px; height:100px"></textarea></td></tr> <tr><td colspan="2"><?php echo recaptcha_get_html($publickey, $error); ?></td></tr> <tr><td colspan="2" style="padding-top:10px;"><input type="image" src="images/header_06.gif" name="submit" value="submit"></td></tr> </form> I cannot see that I am doing anything wrong, but would appreciate any constructive criticism.   • SimpleXMLElement (PHP) throwing error on XML root attributes

    - by Greg
    I am working on a project that will take XML data submitted through a textarea input in a form then extract the data and throw it into a database. I am getting errors about the attribute in the root field of my XML (it is the same schema each time, but with different values). If i remove these attributes it works fine, but I don't want to have to remove these attributes each I time I go to send the data to the script. here is a sample of my data and code I am using (the part that is giving me errors): <raid generatedFrom="HeadCount" version="1.7.4"> --snip-- </raid> If I post the data as such, i get errors such as: Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: Entity: line 1: parser error : AttValue: " or ' expected in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: <raid generatedFrom=\"HeadCount\" version=\"1.7.4\"> in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: ^ in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: Entity: line 1: parser error : attributes construct error in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: <raid generatedFrom=\"HeadCount\" version=\"1.7.4\"> in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: ^ in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: Entity: line 1: parser error : Couldn't find end of Start Tag raid line 1 in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: <raid generatedFrom=\"HeadCount\" version=\"1.7.4\"> in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: ^ in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: Entity: line 1: parser error : Extra content at the end of the document in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: <raid generatedFrom=\"HeadCount\" version=\"1.7.4\"> in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [function.SimpleXMLElement---construct]: ^ in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Exception' with message 'String could not be parsed as XML' in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php:13 Stack trace: #0 /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php(13): SimpleXMLElement->__construct('<raid generated...') #1 {main} thrown in /home/content/g/V/i/gViscardi/html/guilds/sanctum/headcount.php on line 13 If I remove the attributes from the root node then it works fine with no errors. • Using label tags in a validation summary error list?

    - by patridge
    I was thinking about making use of <label> tags in my validation error summary on a failed form submit and I can't figure out if it is going to get me in trouble down the line. Can anyone think of a good reason to avoid this approach? Usability, functionality, design, or other issues are all helpful. I really like the idea of clicking a line item in the error list and being jumped to the offending input element, especially in a mobile HTML scenario where vertical orientation is more common and scrolling is a pain. So far the only problem I can find is that labels don't navigate for radio buttons or checkboxes without individual IDs (Clicking a label for a single ID-tagged radio/checkbox element alters its selection). It doesn't make it any worse than no label, though. Here is a stripped down HTML test sample of this idea (CSS omitted for simplicity). <div class="validation-errors"> <p>There was a problem saving your form.</p> <ul> <li><label for="select1">Select 1 is invalid.</label></li> <li><label for="text1">Text 1 is invalid.</label></li> <li><label for="textarea1">TextArea 1 is invalid.</label></li> <li><label for="radio1">Radio 1 is invalid.</label></li> <li><label for="checkbox1">Checkbox 1 is invalid.</label></li> </ul> </div> <form action="/somewhere"> <fieldset><legend>Some Form</legend> <ol> <li><label for="select1">select1</label> <select id="select1" name="select1"> <option value="value1">Value 1</option> <option value="value2">Value 2</option> <option selected="selected" value="value3">Value 3</option> </select></li> <li><label for="text1">text1</label> <input id="text1" name="text1" type="text" value="sometext" /></li> <li><label for="textarea1">textarea1</label> <textarea id="textarea1" name="textarea1" rows="5" cols="25">sometext</textarea></li> <li><ul> <li><label><input type="radio" name="radio1" value="value1" />Value 1</label></li> <li><label><input type="radio" name="radio1" value="value2" checked="checked" />Value 2</label></li> <li><label><input type="radio" name="radio1" value="value3" />Value 3</label></li> </ul></li> <li><ul> <li><label><input type="checkbox" name="checkbox1" value="value1" checked="checked" />Value 1</label></li> <li><label><input type="checkbox" name="checkbox1" value="value2" />Value 2</label></li> <li><label><input type="checkbox" name="checkbox1" value="value3" checked="checked" />Value 3</label></li> </ul></li> <li><input type="submit" value="Save &amp; Continue" /></li> </ol> </fieldset> </form> The only thing I have added to make the click-capable behavior more obvious is to add a CSS rule for the labels. .validation-errors label { text-decoration: underline; cursor: pointer; }

When I have had it working it has been rearranging the radio buttons. Thanks in Advance Dean

  • JQuery help, How to Hide all button in JQuery

    - by user303518
    Hi guys, I'm trying to make a request/reply section in my project. I want to achieve these functionality in that code (that I'm not able to implement; so guys please help me out): 1 When user click on reply button; other reply area(text-area +button) should be hide (means at a time only one reply area should be visible to the user). 2 when user click on reply button text-area will focus and page will slide down (suppose user reply 10 comment focus will automatically set to the 10 number text area and page will slide down to that position accordingly). Here is my so far code guys: //method call on the click of reply link. function linkReply_Clicked(issueId) { Id = issueId; textId = "text_" + issueId + count; btnReply = "btnReply_" + issueId + count; btnCancel = "btnCancel_" + issueId + count; var textareasArray = document.getElementsByTagName("textarea"); var btnArray = document.getElementsByTagName("input"); for (i = 0; i < textareasArray.length; i++) { textareasArray[i].style.display = "none"; btnArray[i].style.display = "none"; } var str = "<table cellpadding='3' cellspacing='0' width='58%'>"; str += "<tr><td valign='top' align='left'>"; str += "<textarea id=" + textId + " rows='5' cols='60'></textarea>"; str += "</td></tr>"; str += "<tr><td valign='top' align='right'>"; str += "<input id=" + btnReply + " type='button' onclick='btnReply_Clicked(Id ,textId)' value='Reply' />&nbsp;"; str += "<input id=" + btnCancel + " type='button' onclick='btnCancel_Clicked(Id ,textId)' value='Cancel' />&nbsp;"; str += "</td></tr>"; str += "</table>"; document.getElementById("divOuter_" + issueId).innerHTML = str; $("#" + textId + "").focus(); } // submit user reply and try to hide that reply area. function btnReply_Clicked(issueId, textID) { var comment = document.getElementById(textID).value; if (comment != '') { $.getJSON("/Issue/SaveComment", { IssueId: issueId, Comment: comment }, null); $("#text_" + issueId + count).hide(); $("#btnReply_" + issueId + count).hide(); $("#btnCancel_" + issueId + count).hide(); document.getElementById(textID).value = ''; count = count + 1; } } // cancel user reply and try to hide that reply area. function btnCancel_Clicked(issueId, textId) { $("#text_" + issueId + count).hide(); $("#btnReply_" + issueId + count).hide(); $("#btnCancel_" + issueId + count).hide(); document.getElementById(textId).value = ''; count = count + 1; }

  • The Beginner’s Guide to Greasemonkey User Scripts in Firefox

    - by Asian Angel
    Everybody knows that Firefox has add-ons for virtually everything, but if you don’t want to bloat your installation you’ve always got the option of Greasemonkey scripts instead. Here’s a quick primer on how to use them. Getting Started with User Scripts Once you have Greasemonkey installed, managing the extension is really easy. Left click on the status bar icon to turn the extension on/off and right click to access the context menu shown here. Whether you use the Options button in the Add-ons Manager Window or the context menu shown above, both will bring up the Manage User Scripts dialog. At the moment you have a nice clean slate to work with… time to get some scripts added in. The majority of user scripts can be found at two different sites, the first being appropriately named userscripts.org, and you can either browse by tag or search for a script. As you can see here your search for a particular type of script can be quickly narrowed down based on category. There is definitely a lot to choose from. For our example we focused on the “textarea” tag. There were 62 scripts available but we quickly found what we were looking for on the first page. Installing, Managing, & Using Your Scripts When you find a script that you want to install visit the script’s homepage and click on the “Install” button. Note: Link for this script provided below. Once you have clicked on the Install button, Greasemonkey will open up the following installation window. You will be able to view: A summary of what the script does A list of websites that the script is supposed to function on (our example is set for all) View the script source if desired Make a final decision on whether to install the script or cancel the process Right-clicking on our status bar icon shows our new script listed and active. Reopening the Manage User Scripts window shows: Our new script listed in the column on the left The websites/pages included An option to disable the script (can also be done in the context menu) The ability to edit the script The ability to uninstall the script If you choose to edit the script you will be asked to browse for and select a default text editor of your choice (first time only). Once you have selected a text editor you can make any changes desired to the script. We decided to test our new user script on the site. Going to the comment box at the bottom we could easily resize the window as desired. The Comment box definitely got a lot bigger. Conclusion If you prefer to keep the number of extensions to a minimum in your Firefox installation then Greasemonkey and the Userscripts website can easily provide that extra functionality without the bloat. For added auto website script detection goodness see our article on Greasefire. Note: See our article here for specialized How-To Geek User Style Scripts that can be added to Greasemonkey. • PHP code works on Chrome, but not on Firefox or IE (send email via HTML form) [on hold]

    My brother has this form: <form id="lista" action="lista2.php" method="post"> <input name="cf_name" type="text" size="50" hidden="yes" class="obscure"> <input name="cf_email" type="text" size="50" hidden="yes" class="obscure"> <textarea name="cf_message" cols="45" rows="10" hidden="yes" class="obscure"> </textarea> <input type="image" name="submit" value="Enviar Lista por Email" src="imagens/lista_email.png" width="40" height="40" onclick="this.form.elements['cf_message'].value = lista_mail;this.form.elements['cf_name'].value = prompt('Escreva o seu nome:', '');this.form.elements['cf_email'].value = prompt('Escreva o seu email:', '');"> <input name="submit2" type="submit" value="Enviar" hidden="yes" class="obscure"> </form> That calls this PHP file: <?php if ( isset($_POST['submit']) ) { // Dados de autenticacao SMTP $smtpinfo['host'] = 'localhost'; $smtpinfo['port'] = '25'; $smtpinfo['auth'] = true; $smtpinfo['username'] = 'xxx'; $smtpinfo['password'] = 'xxx'; // Dados recebidos do formulario $nome = $_POST['cf_name']; $email = $_POST['cf_email']; $mensagem = $_POST['cf_message']; // Inclusão de ficheiro PEAR. "</p>"); } else { echo ('<b><font color="FFFF00">Mensagem enviada com sucesso.<br><br></b>Seu email: ' . $email . '<br><br></font>'); }} ?> This basically sends an email with some selected products, name and email. The problem is that it works perfectly on Chrome, but not on FF or IE. When the submit image is pressed, the URL changes to the PHP file, but it displays a blank page. After display errors activated: ini_set('display_errors',1); ini_set('display_startup_errors',1); error_reporting(-1) FF/IE display blank page and email isn't sent, Chrome sends the email and displays this: Strict Standards: Non-static method Mail::factory() should not be called statically in /var/www/vhosts/[site url]/httpdocs/lista2.php on line 33 Strict Standards: Non-static method PEAR::isError() should not be called statically, assuming $this from incompatible context in /usr/share/php/Mail/smtp.php , dont know if it helps So, what is causing the email to be sent on chrome and not on FF or IE? Thank you.

  • ASP.NET MVC returning ContentResult using Ajax form - how to preserve whitespace?

    - by Ben
    In my application users can enter commands that are executed on the server. The results are added to a session object. I then stuff the session object into ViewData and add it to a textarea. When done with a standard HTML form whitespace is preserved. However, when I swap this out for an ajax form (Ajax.BeginForm) and return the result as ContentResult, the whitespace is removed. Controller Action: [HttpPost] public ActionResult Execute(string submitButton, string command) { if (submitButton == "Clear") { this.CurrentConsole = string.Empty; } if (submitButton == "Execute" && !string.IsNullOrEmpty(command)) { var script = new PSScript() { Name = "Ad hoc script", CommandText = command }; this.CurrentConsole += _scriptService.ExecuteScript(script); } if (Request.IsAjaxRequest()) { return Content(this.CurrentConsole, "text/plain"); } return RedirectToAction("Index"); } View: <fieldset> <legend>Shell</legend> <%=Html.TextArea("console", ViewData["console"].ToString(), new {@class = "console", @readonly = "readonly"})%> <% using (Ajax.BeginForm("Execute", new AjaxOptions { UpdateTargetId = "console", OnBegin = "console_begin", OnComplete = "console_complete"})) { %> <input type="text" id="command" name="command" class="commandtext" /> <input type="submit" value="Execute" class="runbutton" name="submitButton" /> <input type="submit" value="Clear" class="runbutton" name="submitButton" /> <%} %> </fieldset> How can I ensure that whitespace is preserved? When I inspect the response in FireBug it looks like the whitespace is transmitted, so can only assume it has something to do with the way in which the javascript handles the response data.

  • jquery load and tinymce gives me a "g.win.document is null" on subsequent loads

    - by Patrice Peyre
    So... very excited as first post on stackoverflow I have this page, clicking a button will call editIEPProgram(). editIEPProgram counts how many specific divs exists, adds another div, loads it with html from '/content/mentoring/iep_program.php' and then calls $("textarea.tinymce").tinymce to add a rich text editor to the newly added text boxes. It finally adds a tab which handles the new stuff and bob is your uncle. It ALMOST works. Clicking the button the first adds everything and everything woks, on the second and subsequent click, everything is added but the tinymce fails to initiate (I guess) and gives me "g.win.document is null". I have been on it for some time now and losing all my sanity. please, help.me. function editIEPProgram(){ var index = $("div[id^=iep_program]").size(); var target_div = "iep_program_"+index; $("#program_container") .append( $("<div></div>") .attr("id", target_div) .addClass("no_overflow_control") ); $("#"+target_div).load ( "/content/mentoring/iep_program.php", {index:index}, function() { $("textarea.tinymce").tinymce({ script_url: "/scripts/tiny_mce.js",height:"60", theme:"advanced",skin:"o2k7",skin_variant : "silver", plugins : "spellchecker,advlist,preview,pagebreak,style,layer,save,advhr,advimage,advlink,searchreplace,paste,noneditable,visualchars,nonbreaking,xhtmlxtras", theme_advanced_buttons1 : "spellchecker,|,bold,italic,underline,strikethrough,|,formatselect,|,forecolor,backcolor,|,bullist,numlist,|,outdent,indent,|,undo,redo,|,link,unlink,image,cleanup,preview", theme_advanced_buttons2 : "", theme_advanced_buttons3 : "", theme_advanced_toolbar_location : "top", theme_advanced_toolbar_align : "left", content_css : "/css/main.css" }); }); $("#tab_container") .tabs("add", "#"+target_div,"New program") .tabs("select", $("#tab_container").tabs("length")-1); }

  • Building a generic page "Query Analyzer" like in Asp.net with SMO

    - by Rodrigo
    Hello, I'm build a web page in ASP.net is supposed to work just like Query Analyzer. It has basically a textarea to input the sql command, and an Execute button. I'm using SMO to execute the command in the database, as follows: //Create object SMO Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server server = new Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server(new Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Common.ServerConnection(oConn)); //To execute the command server.ConnectionContext.ExecuteNonQuery(tbx_cmd.Text); //OR myDataset = server.ConnectionContext.ExecuteWithResults(tbx_cmd.Text); The problem is that the textarea command can contain anything, from a stored procedure (with GO's statements) and any select command that return resultsets, just like Query Analyzer. But, if I have GO statements, I only can perform the query using ExecuteNonQuery method. If I use the ExecuteWithResults method, it raises errors because of the GO statements. And if I want the resultsets to be available, of course I can only use the ExecuteWithResults method. Does anybody knows how can I do to execute the same command texts at the same time? Thank you!

  • Problem binding action parameters using FCKeditor, AJAX and ASP.NET MVC

    - by TonE
    I have a simple ASP.Net MVC View which contains an FCKeditor text box (created using FCKeditor's Javascript ReplaceTextArea() function). These are included within an Ajax.BeginForm helper: <% using (Ajax.BeginForm("AddText", "Letters", new AjaxOptions() { UpdateTargetId = "addTextResult" })) {%> <div> <input type="submit" value="Save" /> </div> <div> <%=Html.TextArea("testBox", "Content", new { @name = "testBox" })%> <script type=""text/javascript""> window.onload = function() { var oFCKeditor = new FCKeditor('testBox') ; var sBasePath = '<%= Url.Content("~/Content/FCKeditor/") %>'; oFCKeditor.BasePath = sBasePath; oFCKeditor.ToolbarSet = "Basic"; oFCKeditor.Height = 400; oFCKeditor.ReplaceTextarea() ; } </script> <div id="addTextResult"> </div> <%} %> The controller action hanlding this is: [ValidateInput(false)] public ActionResult AddText(string testBox) { return Content(testBox); } Upon initial submission of the Ajax Form the testBox string in the AddText action is always "Content", whatever the contents of the FCKeditor have been changed to. If the Ajax form is submitted again a second time (without further changes) the testBox paramater correctly contains the actual contents of the FCKeditor. If I use a Html.TextArea without replacing with FCKeditor it works correctly, and if I use a standard Post form submit inplace of AJAX all works as expected. Am I doing something wrong? If not is there a suitable/straight-forward workaround for this problem?

  • TinyMCE is glitchy in IE8

    - by Force Flow
    I'm using the jQuery version of TinyMCE 3.3.9.3 In firefox, it works fine (10 sec video depicting it in use): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrAE0igfT3I In IE8 (in IE8 standards mode), I can't type or click any buttons. However, if I use ctrl+v to paste, then I can start typing, but the buttons still don't work (a 45 sec video depicting it in use): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBSRlE8D8F4 The jQuery TinyMCE demo on TinyMCE's site works for me in IE8. Here's the init code: $().ready(function(){ function tinymce_focus(){ $('.defaultSkin table.mceLayout').css({'border-color' : '#6478D7'}); $('.defaultSkin table.mceLayout tr.mceFirst td').css({'border-top-color' : '#6478D7'}); $('.defaultSkin table.mceLayout tr.mceLast td').css({'border-bottom-color' : '#6478D7'}); } function tinymce_blur(){ $('.defaultSkin table.mceLayout').css({'border-color' : '#93a6e1'}); $('.defaultSkin table.mceLayout tr.mceFirst td').css({'border-top-color' : '#93a6e1'}); $('.defaultSkin table.mceLayout tr.mceLast td').css({'border-bottom-color' : '#93a6e1'}); } $('textarea.tinymce').tinymce({ script_url : 'JS/tinymce/tiny_mce.js', theme : "advanced", mode : "exact", theme : "advanced", invalid_elements : "b,i,iframe,font,input,textarea,select,button,form,fieldset,legend,script,noscript,object,embed,table,img,a,h1,h2,h3,h4,h5,h6", //theme options theme_advanced_buttons1 : "cut,copy,paste,pastetext,pasteword,selectall,|,undo,redo,|,cleanup,removeformat,|", theme_advanced_buttons2 : "bold,italic,underline,|,bullist,numlist,|,forecolor,backcolor,|", theme_advanced_buttons3 : "", theme_advanced_buttons4 : "", theme_advanced_toolbar_location : "top", theme_advanced_toolbar_align : "left", theme_advanced_statusbar_location : "none", theme_advanced_resizing : false, //plugins plugins : "inlinepopups,paste", dialog_type : "modal", paste_auto_cleanup_on_paste : true, setup: function(ed){ ed.onInit.add(function(ed){ //check for addEventListener -- primarily supported by firefox only var edDoc = ed.getDoc(); if ("addEventListener" in edDoc){ edDoc.addEventListener("focus", function(){ tinymce_focus(); }, false); edDoc.addEventListener("blur", function(){ tinymce_blur(); }, false); } }); } }); }); Any ideas as to why it's not working in IE8?
