• how to rewrite or redirect old or missing or invalid url to 404 page

  I recently upgraded a site and almost all URLs have changed. I have redirected all of them (or so I hope) but it may be possible that some of them have slipped by me. • Compare-Object gives false differences

  I have some problem with Compare-Object. My task is to get difference between two directory snapshots made at different times. First snapshot is taken like this: ls -recurse d:\dir | export-clixml dir-20100129.xml Then, later, I get second snapshot and load both of them: $b = (import-clixml dir-20100130.xml) $a = (import-clixml dir-20100129.xml) Next, I'm trying to compare with Compare-Object, like that: diff $a $b What I get is in some places files that were added to $b since $a, but in some -- files that were in both snapshots, and some files, that were added to $b, are not given in Compare-Object output. Puzzling, but $b.count - $a.count is EXACTLY the same as (diff $a $b).count. Why is that? Ok, Compare-Object has -property param. I try to use that: diff -property fullname $a $b And I get the whole mess of differences: it shows me ALL the files. For example, say $a contains: A\1.txt A\2.txt A\3.txt And $b contains: X\2.mp3 X\3.mp3 X\4.mp3 A\1.txt A\2.txt A\3.txt diff output is something like that: X\2.mp3 => A\1.txt <= X\3.mp3 => A\2.txt <= X\4.mp3 => A\3.txt <= A\1.txt => A\2.txt => A\3.txt => Weird. I think I don't understand something crucial about Compare- Object usage, and manuals are scarce... Please, help me to get the DIFFERENCE between two directory snapshots. • Mysterious visitor to hidden PHP page

  On my website, I have a "hidden" page that displays a list of the most recent visitors. There exist no links at all to this single PHP page, and, theoretically, only I know of its existence. I check it many times per day to see what new hits I have. However, about once a week, I get a hit from a 208.80.194.* address on this supposedly hidden page (it records hits to itself). The strange thing is this: this mysterious person/bot does not visit any other page on my site. Not the public PHP pages, but only this hidden page that prints the visitors. It's always a single hit, and the HTTP_REFERER is blank. The other data is always some variation of Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; YPC 3.2.0; FunWebProducts; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; SpamBlockerUtility 4.8.4; yplus 5.1.04b) ... but sometimes MSIE 6.0 instead of 7, and various other plug ins. The browser is different every time, as with the lowest-order bits of the address. And it's just that. One hit per week or so, to that one page. Absolutely no other pages are touched by this mysterious vistor. Doing a whois on that IP address showed it's from the new york area, and from the "Websense" ISP. The lowest order 8 bits of their address are always different, but always from 208.80.194.*/8. From most of the computers that I access my website, doing a tracerout to my server does not contain a router anywhere along the way with the IP 208.80.*. So that rules out any kind of HTTP sniffing, I might think. I have NO idea how, why this is happening. Does anyone have any clue, or have seen something as strange as this before? It seems completely benign, but unexplainable and a little creepy. Thanks in advance!

  I made a NotePad program. The problem is it doesn't save in .txt format, It save as a file with no format. But it can open .txt files. How can i fix it? • Core Data NSPredicate to filter results

  I have a NSManagedObject that contains a bID and a pID. Within the set of NSManagedObjects, I only want a subset returned and I'm struggling to find the correct NSPredicate or way to get what I need out of Core Data. Here's my full list: bid pid 41 0 42 41 43 0 44 0 47 41 48 0 49 0 50 43 There is a parent-child relationship above. Rules: If a record's PID = 0, it means that that record IS a parent record. If a record's PID != 0, then that record's PID refers to it's parent record's BID. Example: 1) BID = 41 is a parent record. Why? Because records BID=42 and record BID=47 have PID's of 41, meaning those are children of its PID record. 2) BID = 42 has a parent record with a BID = 41. 3) BID = 43 is a parent record. 4) BID = 44 is a parent record. 5) BID = 47 has a parent record with a BID = 41 because its PID = 41. See #1 above. 6) BID = 48 is a parent record. 7) BID = 49 is a parent record. 8) BID = 50 is a child record, and its parent record has a BID = 43. See the pattern? Now, basically from that, I want only the following rows fetched: bid pid 44 0 47 41 48 0 49 0 50 43 BID = 41, BID = 48, BID = 49 should all be returned because there are no records with a PID equal to their BID. BID = 47 should be returned because it is the most recent child of PID = 41. BID = 50 should be returned because it is the most recent child of PID = 43. Hope this helps explain it more.

  Can someone point me to where I can download English dictionary as a txt or xml file. I am building a simple app for myself and looking for something what I could start using immediately without learning complex API. Support for synonyms would be great, that is it should be easier to retrieve all the synonyms for particular word. It would be absolutely fantastic if dictionary would be listing British and American spelling of the words where they are differ. Even if it would be small dictionary (few 000's words) that's ok, I only need it for small project. I even would be willing to buy one if the price is reasonable, and dictionary is easy to use - simple xml wold be great. Any directions please.

• Python .app doesn't read .txt file like it should

  This question relates to this one: Python app which reads and writes into its current working directory as a .app/exe i got the path to the .txt file fine however now when i try to open it and read the contents it seems that it doesn't extract the data properly.   Hi, I'm running Drupal and Mediawiki on my server under the same domain. They are connected to each other with extensions/modules. Meaning if I log in to Mediawiki, it automatically logs into Drupal also. Mediawiki has some extensions that filter the information shown on the page. What I want to do is to show that filtered information from Mediawiki on my Drupal page. I'm trying to fetch the data with PHP cURL, but I'm not able to force it to use the login information. How can I convert PHP's $_COOKIE into cURL cookie.txt format? I suppose after that I'm able to fetch the data from Mediawiki with the right permissions. • Sendmail delivering locally instead of to MTA in MX record

  Ok, so I've got a box named websrv1.mydomain.com. It's a web server running ubuntu, apache2, sendmail, etc. My email is outsourced to a third party. So in my DNS I've got MX set to mx.thirdparty.net. I've no reason to accept incoming mail on my web server, every email should be sent to the third party. This works correctly accept with sending mail from the webserver (aka via cron or console). So from my web server, if I send an email to [email protected], it just disappears. No errors, nothing in dead.letter, nothing. I can send to any other address with no issues. If I send to [email protected] it's delivered locally which is fine. 1) Doing an nslookup shows the mx record is correct. 2) Running /mx mydomain.com from sendmail -bt returns the correct result. 3) Running sendmail -bv [email protected] returns: sudo sendmail -bv [email protected] [email protected]... deliverable: mailer esmtp, host mydomain.com., user [email protected] 4) Running 3,0 [email protected], returns: 3,0 [email protected] canonify input: me @ mydomain . com Canonify2 input: me Canonify2 returns: me canonify returns: me parse input: me Parse0 input: me Parse0 returns: me Parse1 input: me MailerToTriple input: me MailerToTriple returns: me Parse1 returns: $# esmtp $@ mydomain . com . $: me parse returns: $# esmtp $@ mydomain . com . $: me So I'm at a loss. Sendmail seems to see the mx record, but it's not using it.

  To check the record for the domain, run dig with domain name as the parameter. dig example.com any I get the below result. Why there is no A record show in the result. • Why did I loose access to the mailboxes on my old web/mail host after changing to a new one but keeping old MX values

  So I changed the NS records with registrar to point at the new webhosts DNS servers and edited the SOA record there, deleting the new hosts default MX records and instead putting in the old ones for the old web\mail hosts. The website A record is however pointing at the new webhosts servers and the site comes up fine. But none of this should cause me to loose access to mailboxes on my old hosts mail server right? I log into the control panel on the old host, all the mailboxes are there, all the passwords are fine but I can't log in using either webmail or pop3, says incorrect log-in/password. I even created a new mailbox and password for it respectively, but it would not let me log in. For what its worth I did not change\delete the records for 'A' on the old webhost zone file, since I am not hosting the site with them anymore and NS records are pointing to other hosts DNS servers/zone file so that shouldn't matter right? The old hosts mailserver is also not simply down, I can tell because through the control panel I setup a mail forward for one of the existing inboxes and when sending mail to it, it receives it and forwards it fine. So from this I can deduce that I have correctly inputted the old hosts MX records into the zone file hosted on the new hosts DNS and the mail is being sent to the old hosts mail server(s) and is successfully forwarded by it. But why can't I log into those account/inboxes anymore ?

• Rails test db doesn't persist record changes

  I've been trying to solve a problem for a few weeks now. I am running rspec tests for my Rails app, and they are working fine except for one error that I can't seem get my head around. I am using MySQL with the InnoDB engine. I have set config.use_transactional_fixtures = true in spec_helper.rb I load my test fixtures manually with the command rake spec:db:fixtures:load. The rspec test is being written for a BackgrounDRb worker, and it is testing that a record can have its state updated (through the state_machine gem). Here is my problem: I have a model called Listings. The rspec test calls the update_sold_items method within a file called listing_worker.rb. This method calls listing.sell for a particular record, which sets the listing record's 'state' column to 'sold'. So far, this is all working fine, but when the update_sold_items method finishes, my rspec test fails here: listing = Listing.find_by_listing_id(listing_id) listing.state.should == "sold" expected: "sold", got: "current" (using ==) I've been trying to track down why the state change is not persisting, but am pretty much lost. Here is the result of some debugging code that I placed in the update_sold_items method during the test: pp listing.state # => "current" listing.sell! listing.save! pp listing.state # => "sold" listing.reload pp listing.state # => "current" I cannot understand why it saves perfectly fine, but then reverts back to the original record whenever I call reload, or Listing.find etc. Thanks for reading this, and please ask any questions if I haven't given enough information. Thanks for your help, Nathan B P.S. I don't have a problem creating new records for other classes, and testing those records. It only seems to be a problem when I am updating records that already exist in the database.

• iPhone - openAL stops playing if I record with AVAudioRecorder

  Hi there, this is an iPhone-related question: I use openAL to play some sound (I have to manage gain, pitch, etc.). I want to record what I'm playing and I use AVAudioRecorder but when I "prepareToRecord" openAL stops to play audio. What's the problem? • Record/Playback with AudioQueue on iPhone

  Hi, I am currently using Audio Queues on the iPhone to record and playback audio. What I would like to be able to do is to record some audio, allow the user to pause the record queue, and to seek back and forward through the audio to select a position from where they can start recording from again. I have got over the seeking issue by making the playback AudioQueueBuffer sizes small enough so that the play audio queue callback happens at a rate that allows the user to use a slider control to hear the audio as they adjust the slider back and forth. I think I can achieve the recording at a new position by setting the inStartingPacket parameter of the AudioFileWritePackets function that I call from the Audio Recording Queue callback. The trouble is this only inserts audio over the previously recorded audio. The file length obviously doesn't change so if the user were to go backwards and record less audio than before, the old audio still remains after the end of the newly recorded audio. Is there a way I can get the AudioFile to truncate at the point the user starts to insert the new audio, is there some other way I can remove the old audio starting at the insert position or is there a better way about going about this task? • Mysql Powerdns issue when adding a new CName record

  I'm trying to add a new CNAME record in PowerDNS to the mysql database, but my website does not want to show. When adding it in via Zone Admin it works, but as soon as I add the record as below it just does not want to work. Am I doing something wrong here. Because I saw some syntax in the Postgres docs showed a function being created w/ a input parameter that had a type 'tablename' this works, but it has to be a tablename not a function :( I know I am so close, I was told to use cursors to pass records around. So I studied up. Please help.
