  • No video signal after install

    Today I tried to install Ubuntu 12.10 to my machine, but all the time I encountered the same problem, I successfully boot from Ubuntu 12.04 DVD, and a purple background comes up with accessibility and keyboard icons at the bottom of the screen, then when you wait a while a monitor text comes up "No signal" (Keep in mind that this signal is only shown when there's cable in the monitor HDMI plug), and nothing happens, a little later disk drive stops flashing meaning that disk finished being read. Even if you reset the computer you still get no signal, you have to turn the power of and on again, and plug HDMI out and put it in again. My info: Graphics card: ATI/AMD Radeon HD 4850 Connection to monitor: HDMI Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster T220HD

Since it's a live video it starts playing from one of the last media segments and video.currentTime is set to 0. video.seekable.start(i) and video.seekable.end(i) shows the seekable range which is 0..currentTime. How can I seek to the previous media segments, say 5 min back? video.currentTime = -300 doesn't work. It resets currentTime to 0.

  • GWT & HTML5 Video in Mobile Safari

    I'm trying to code a site in GWT that plays videos with HTML5. Everything works great on the desktop, but mobile Safari on both the iPhone and iPad do not play the video. I can play a video using Video for Everybody. I've even copied the code to my own plain HTML page, and it works flawlessly. If I serve that same code via a GWT widget, mobile safari will not play the video. On the iPhone I see a gray box with a prohibitory sign around the play button, and on the iPad it shows up as a black box. I've made sure my doctype is <!DOCTYPE html>, but I don't know where else to start debugging. Perhaps it it because the code is injected via javascript? Any pointers on where to start looking would be greatly appreciated.   • How do i have 4GB of video memory with a 1GB video card?

    I ran the direct X diagnostic tool to take a look at my graphics capabilities and its telling me that the approximate video memory is clocked in at 4096MB. That doesn't make any sense, how is that possible? The only things that i can think of were that DirectX was inaccurate so i looked at the graphics statistics of my computer on CPU-Z which was included with the motherboard and that's telling me i have "negative" 1988MB. Not only is that not 4096MB, but its giving me a negative number and i know for a fact that you can't have a negative amount of memory???!!! The only things i can think of that would be amplifying my video memory output is the PCIe 3.0 bus, or that the motherboard is somehow including the on board video chip set with the video card which only then is only 2GB of video memory, which still has to be being amplified by something. Any suggestions?

  • Fullscreen Video stutters on second monitor laptop

    Fullscreen video on my new 1080p monitor is choppy when it comes from my laptop. The same video plays when not full screen. This goes for all video(Flash/MKV, etc), regardless of video resolution. I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series card in my Thinkpad Edge, Turion X2 2GHz. The computer plays 1080p fine. Things I've tried: Updating Drivers Switching cables Turning Hardware Acceleration Changing video players process priority Rebooting Turning of laptop screen Turning off unused processes Nothing Works. What is the likelyhood that my laptop cannot power a 1920x1280 display?

  • 3.5mm headphone jack -> Component video?

    Hello, I have a strange cord that has a male 3.5mm headphone jack on one side, and some component video and audio ouputs on the other. When I plug the headphone side into my computer, and the other side into my TV, I get audio across the cable, but no video. How can I send some video over the headphone jack in OS X? I know you can, because this cable is actually for a Beyblade toy and it somehow transferred video over this cable. Thanks, Isaac I think I found some more information (from Wikipedia:) "A four conductor version (of a 3.5mm headphone jack) is becoming a de facto standard output connector for compact camcorders, providing stereo sound plus a video signal." So how can I do this on Mac?

  • What are the ways to do synchronized streaming video and text?

    I would like to have two streams. One being traditional streaming video and another being text. I will also build an interface that allows the user to create the text portion while watching the video. The context of these videos are usually that of an individual being filmed doing a presentation and later the next day for example, a coach will make text annotations (structured data is a plus) with the result being the text stream. It seems this is possible with Silverlight (see the article in the latest MSDN). However, what other methods are there if any? If there any, please give the reasons for why you are recommending them. Thanks. Also, I would prefer something that inst a software as a service hosted solution, but, dont let that keep you from giving an answer. Also keep in mind, the user shouldn't have to do any re-encoding of the video source, the text stream should be separate with someway to synchronize a coach's comments to an arbitrary time stamp in the video.

Suppose a particular video is at max requested by 1000 users at the same instant of time, how many copies would be sufficient so that parallel streams can be provided to each user? Ideally 1 copy would solve the purpose, but what is the optimum number keeping the bandwidth and simultaneous access in mind?

  • Download and Convert live stream video

    I want to download live streaming video from some websites and it seems Internet Download Manager can handle the job. However, the video I want is just a small part of the live stream and the the stream itself never stops. Hence, IDM will just keep downloading all days and nights if I don't stop it myself. The problem is, the downloaded file (stored in the temporary folder) is of .stream extension. Mediaplayer Classic can open it perfectly, but it'd be very inconvenient to have such extension since I don't think I can carry it around and play it on other computer. I tried some video converters but all of them failed because the format is not supported. So my questions are: Is there a program specially made to download live rmtp video? IDM works, but the format is inconvenient. How can I convert .stream file to other extension, say AVI?

  • Need advice on how to set up live video streaming to web/mobile devices

    I have a bunch of live udp video streams that currently are viewed by set top boxes in my network. I would like to pick this video up (I can do this with vlc now) and stream it out to other non-STB endpoints (webpage or a phone/tablet of some sort). Right now I am able to pick up the udp stream with vlc and convert it to an http stream on port 8080 of my vlc box. Then I can use the vlc client to pick up and watch that video stream. This is where I'm not sure where to go with it. I really doubt I would want everyone who is watching the video to make a connection back to my vlc server that is doing the encoding, so how do I distribute this live video to the people who want to see it?

  • How do I disable auto- poster image generation on the video tag?

    I'm using the 'poster' attribute on a video tag and the way it seems to work at least in webkit browsers is that it loads the poster image and then once enough of the video has loaded, it replaces that poster with an auto-generated poster from the video file itself. However, my poster images don't match the auto-generated posters which results in a weird experience of one image loading, then being replaced in a few seconds by the auto-generated image. Is there any way to prevent the auto-generated image from being used?

  • SQL SERVER – Automated Type Conversion using Expressor Studio

    Recently I had an interesting situation during my consultation project. Let me share to you how I solved the problem using Expressor Studio. Consider a situation in which you need to read a field, such as customer_identifier, from a text file and pass that field into a database table. In the source file’s metadata structure, customer_identifier is described as a string; however, in the target database table, customer_identifier is described as an integer. Legitimately, all the source values for customer_identifier are valid numbers, such as “109380”. To implement this in an ETL application, you probably would have hard-coded a type conversion function call, such as: output.customer_identifier=stringToInteger(input.customer_identifier) That wasn’t so bad, was it? For this instance, programming this hard-coded type conversion function call was relatively easy. However, hard-coding, whether type conversion code or other business rule code, almost always means that the application containing hard-coded fields, function calls, and values is: a) specific to an instance of use; b) is difficult to adapt to new situations; and c) doesn’t contain many reusable sub-parts. Therefore, in the long run, applications with hard-coded type conversion function calls don’t scale well. In addition, they increase the overall level of effort and degree of difficulty to write and maintain the ETL applications. To get around the trappings of hard-coding type conversion function calls, developers need an access to smarter typing systems. Expressor Studio product offers this feature exactly, by providing developers with a type conversion automation engine based on type abstraction. The theory behind the engine is quite simple. A user specifies abstract data fields in the engine, and then writes applications against the abstractions (whereas in most ETL software, developers develop applications against the physical model). When a Studio-built application is run, Studio’s engine automatically converts the source type to the abstracted data field’s type and converts the abstracted data field’s type to the target type. The engine can do this because it has a couple of built-in rules for type conversions. So, using the example above, a developer could specify customer_identifier as an abstract data field with a type of integer when using Expressor Studio. Upon reading the string value from the text file, Studio’s type conversion engine automatically converts the source field from the type specified in the source’s metadata structure to the abstract field’s type. At the time of writing the data value to the target database, the engine doesn’t have any work to do because the abstract data type and the target data type are just the same.   • Apple video adapters: Mini-DVI to DVI + DVI to video?

    I have: a Macbook (which has Mini-DVI output) an Apple Mini-DVI to DVI adapter (so I can hook up my Macbook to my DVI LCD) a Mac mini (which has DVI output) I see that I can get a DVI-to-Video (s-video and composite) adapter from Apple that will let me hook up my Mac mini to my TV set (which has only component, s-video, and composite -- nothing digital). So far so good. Question: Will that same adapter also let me hook my Macbook to my TV? That is, can I hook Macbook - Mini-DVI to DVI - DVI to video - TV set, and see picture? I know there are digital/analog/integrated variants of DVI, and it's not at all clear to me what pins these things have and what signals they're sending. One website I found suggested that it would work, and another suggested that it wouldn't even physically connect. So I'm looking for, ideally, someone who's actually tried it, or has these adapters sitting around to try. I know I can buy 2 adapters (Mini-DVI to Video, and DVI to Video) to do this, but at $20 a pop I'll avoid that if at all possible.

  • Winamp has slow /skipping video playback on Windows 7

    Hello, I have Windows 7 x64 (7600 90-day trial version) and Winamp 5.6 installed. When I play a video in Windows Media Player, the video plays smooth, however when I play a video in winamp, the video is mostly ok when played back at the original size (but not completely), but if I play it back in fullscreen, the playback gets really slow. The video's audio track plays just fine. I have a DELL XPS 420 computer (8GB of RAM) with a Nvidia GeForce 8800 CTS 512 video card. I've updated to the latest drivers. I have the default Windows 7 codecs, and the CCCP codec pack which used to be all I needed under Windows XP to play all types of videos. Are the codecs needed for Windows Y the same? What's going on? UPDATE: As suggested, I turned off Aero and winamp ran just fine again. So I just have to wait for winamp to be rewritten to work with the way Vista/Windows 7 runs? UPDATE 2: Winamp has updated their player, and it works great with Windows 7 now.

  • bxslider and sproutvideo on iPad: video is just a black box when returning to slide [on hold]

    I use sproutvideo inside of bxslider. I teste it well on chrome and firefox. On the iPad I have the following issue: I have the video in the forst screen and it loads fine, the slider stops when the video is running and when i switch to another slide and come back the video is still running. On the iPad, the video starts also, but when I go to anoter slide and back, the video disappears and I only see a black box. Any ideas what can be wrong?

    I am trying to insert an audio channel with a video: first of all I extract the audio from the original video for processing: ffmpeg -i lotr.mp4 lotr.wav I then extract all frames for later processing too: ffmpeg -i lotr.mp4 -f image2 %d.jpg When done processing audio and video streams, I try to create the video ffmpeg -f image2 -r 15 -i %d.jpg new.mp4 then merge with the audio: ffmpeg -i new.mp4 -i lotr.wav -map 0:0 -map 1:0 new_w_audio.mp4 Result: CPU activity = 100%, the process hangs and never returns.     In 2007, I started a site based on streaming and downloading poker strategy videos. At that point in time, the best solution I came up with for supporting users of Macs and PCs was to provide the videos in both WMV and FLV formats. Later we added an M4V version to support iPhones/iPods. Obviously, things have changed a bit since that time. I would like to revisit our format decision to see if there is anything better that we could offer, preferrably with wider support among all devices (so that we can reduce the number of formats offered, if possible). Is FLV + WMV + M4V the best solution? Is there something else we should consider? What about Android devices?

    Hello I am making a general question since I am a developer and I have no advance experience on video elaboration. I have to preparare a web application with the purpose to allow video files upload on our company server and then video elaboration by server, on user command. The purpose of the web application is to allow to the user to make some elaboration on video depending on user action launch from the web app: (server has to ) convert video in different format(mp4, flv...) extact keyframes from video and saves them in jpeg format possibility to extract audio from video automatic control of quality audio & video (black frames,silences detection) change scene detection and keyframe extraction ..... This what's my bosses wanted from the web based application (with the server support obviously), and I understand only the first 3 points of this list, the rest for me was arabic.... My question is: Which is the best and fastest server side application for this works, that can support multiple batch video conversions, from command line (comand line for php-soap-socket interaction or something else..)? Is suitable Adobe Media Server for batch video conversion? Which are adobe products that can be used for this purpose? Note: I have experience with Indesign Server scripting programing (sending xml with php and soap call...), and I am looking to something similiar for video elaboration. I will appreciate any answers.   • Why does video playback lag/freeze when I go into full-screen mode?

    When I try to play my video files in SMPlayer it works fine but as soon as I switch to fullscreen mode(16:9) following thing happens: 1) Video starts lagging. 2) Audio and video goes out of sync. 3) CPU usage rises to ~50%. 4) SMPlayer starts to hang. My current SMPlayer configuration: 1)Video Output Driver = x11(slow) 2)Audio Output Driver = alsa(0.0-HDA Intel) 3)Cache = 8192 KB 4)Threads for decoding(MPEG-1/2 and H.264 only = 2 Things I tried solve this problem: 1) Tried changing video o/p driver to xv,gl. 2) Tried changing audio o/p driver to pulse. 3) Tried increasing cache size and also tried using nocache. Everything works fine on windows but I don't want to switch to windows just to play video files. My system config: Acer Aspire One D270 Atom N2600(Cedar Trail) 1.6GHz 2GB Memory Intel GMA 3600 graphics. Ubuntu 12.04 Kernel Release: 3.2.0-23-generic-pae Rest all things are working fine I have no resolution issue, bluetooth, wireless also working fine.     the file will be played in a popbox3d. my old method was to convert the video using vidcoder (an offshoot of handbrake) using normal settings, but i've recently confirmed that this significantly reduces video and audio quality. i bumped up the conversion quality to 'high profile' and this produced a higher quality video but raised the conversion time to about twice the video length (95 minutes to convert a 45 minute video) on a core2duo laptop. this is less than ideal when a large number of videos need to be converted. i have tried a direct remuxing using mkv toolnix but this produced a video that refused to display video on the popbox3d, which is consistent with the reported: [quote=other old thread] it is possible to put RealMedia A/V in MKV container (used MKVtoolnix) - however, it is awkward to play later. PS: i download a lot of series from asia and for some strange reason, rmvb is a really popular format over there. sometimes, it's the only format that's available. unfortunately, it's a format that is incompatible with the popbox3d, so i have to convert the files before i can watch them on my tv.
