• scrolling a readonly cell in NSTableview?

  I have a table that the user should not be able to edit directly (although user actions may cause changes). One column may contain a string too long for any reasonable size cell, so to see everything there, the user needs to scroll the cell (using arrow keys, for example). If I make either the column or cell not editible, I loose the ability to scroll the cell. If I make it editable, of course, I loose the ability to keep the user from changeing it. (I'm using NSArray controller and a couple of NSObject controllers to get from the model to the table view using bindings. Binding compliance via @property(copy) and @synthesize.   I'm trying to create a custom attribute called Tag for all editable elements. I added the following to attrs.xml <declare-styleable name="Spinner"> <attr name="tag" format="string" /> </declare-styleable> <declare-styleable name="EditText"> <attr name="tag" format="string" /> </declare-styleable> I get an error saying "Attribute tag has already been defined" for the EditText. Is it not possible to create a custom attribute of the same name on different elements?

• handling Javascript actions in PDF with Java

  I'm trying to make PDF forms (aka AcroForms) editable in Java. So far i got the GUI editing and printing working using Bruno Lowagie's iText and Sun's pdf-renderer. But now i'm close to scrapping it all, because after switching from try & error to reading the PDF specification, i realized that it's all worthless unless i can make the multitude of possible JavaScript actions work as well. I don't think iText can do that. So in short: are there any Java libraries that do proper form handling including actions? Or maybe even a Java GUI component to edit form data?

• Silverlight PRISM and 'loose' style files

  Hi, We are looking at starting a new Silverlight project using the PRISM framework (to benefit from modules etc) and I am still a little unclear about the best styling approach. What I'd ideally like is to have editable XAML files (maybe even just 1 for the whole project) containing the application's style so that they can be edited to change the look and feel of the application without having to recompile everything. Is this approach something people use? I guess it would need to load the file in at startup and apply the style which I assume wouldn't be a massive overhead. • C# gridview nested in repeater update

  My current situation is to display an unknown number of Plantypes and within those Plantypes display a list of Participants(also unknown number), the participants have a textbox and a dropdown that is editable (you can't edit the individual rows, there is one update that does a bit of validation then updates all rows.) I currently have a gridview nested withing a repeater, the repeater displays the Plan in a label and OnItemDataBound I call a method to populate the gridviews. It looks great, but I can't figure out how to save all the data at once. I'm not opposed to handling this a different way, as in loose the gridview and or repeater, if someone has a better idea. This is C# and framework 2.0...there is no sorting or paging on the gridviews...just some links and the fields to update. thanks in advance, Padawan

• contenteditable element prevents hyperlink default behavior

  I've got the following problem. In IE if a contenteditable element is nested inside a hyperlink, clicking on the element prevents the hyperlink default behavior, i.e. navigation to another document. In FF it works fine. How can I solve the problem? Just removing the contentEditable attribute is not a solution since I want this behavior (navigation to another document) only when user clicks the content-editable element with pressed Ctrl key. • allow editing of config files by WIndows Server 2008 admins running non-elevated?

  My company produces a cross-platform server application which loads its configuration from user-editable configuration files. On Windows, config files are locked down at Setup time to allow reading by all users but restrict editing to Administrators only. Unfortunately, on Windows Server 2008, even local administrators no longer have admin privileges (because of UAC) unless they're running an elevated app. My question is: if a Windows Server 2008 admin wants to edit an admins-only config file, how does he normally do it? Is he forced to use a text editor which is smart enough to auto-elevate when elevation is needed, like Windows Explorer does in response to access denied errors? Or is there something that we can do in our app (e.g. in ACLs we lay down at setup time) which signal apps (or explorer) that elevation is needed before editing the file or which otherwise make our app friendlier to admins running on modern Windows OS's?

  Hi every one, I am very much new to Drupal but am loving it to start with. I got struck at a point with respect to theaming. I have a region called 'footer-teaser' just above footer. Its width is 800px. its been split into 3 equal size columns. Each column has the following. Image of size 120x120 Some teaser text Link to 'read more' The design requirement is all the above should be editable by the admin from the admin interface. If its static i would have hardcoded this but since the requirement is dynamic, i am not aware of how to achieve this. I have customised page.tpl for other sections of the page except this. I am sure someone else would have faced this issue before and was wondering if anyone can direct me in the right direction? Even better if an example is provided. Cheers RD

• Google Chrome "window.open" workaround?

  Hi Folks! I have been working on a web app and for part of it I need to open a new window. I have this working on all browsers, my sticking point is with Google Chrome. Chrome seems to ignore the window features which is causing me issues, the thing I'm struggling with is I need the address bar to be editable within the new window. FF, IE, Safari and Opera do this fine, Chrome does not. • What jquery based table plugin can hide sub rows?

  I'm in the need to convert excel macros into jquery code, the function is that you need to click on the plus sign to unfold and show the sub rows to modify column2 if you want to type values in column2, the other columns can't be modified. You can't straightly modify values of column2 until you unfold the parent row, because there are many sub rows belonging to parent row,say Car. The values of Name, Model, Code are existing, they are master data, no need to type or modify. please see the snapshot at folded and unfolded, besides modifying values in sub rows , I need to be able to know which sub rows are modified and values of those rows.Initially the editable columns are blank. And when you click on the minus sign, the sub rows can be folded again,but the modified values won't be lost,they are still there when unfolded again. One last requirement is it's cross devices, the code must run well on pc,mobile phone,pad. Is that possible? Many thanks.

• Django Problem - trying to access data entered into a form and feed it through a different page

  OK, so let me give you an overview first. I have this site and in it there is a form section. When you access that section you can view or start a new project. Each project has 3-5 different forms. My problem is that I don't want viewers to have to go through all 3-5 pages to see the relevant information they need. Instead I want to give each project a main page where all the essential data entered into the forms is shown as non-editable data. I hope this makes sense. So I need to find a way to access all that data from the different forms for each project and to feed that data into the new page I'll be calling "Main". Each project will have a separate main page for itself. I'm pretty much clueless as to how I should do this, so any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks

• How can I replace the contents of a scrollable div without jumping to the top?

  I have a div with the overflow: auto style. It is populated via AJAX with a result table. The rows in this div are editable, and with each edit I refresh the contents. The problem is, if the user edits something at the bottom of the div, the refresh brings them back to the top. I had some luck using anchors with Firefox, but not all versions of IE jumped to the anchors within the div. Is there any way to replace the contents of a div like this without having the scrollbar jump to the top? Any other suggestions? I like to refresh the entire set of results rather than just the updated row if possible, but if there are no workarounds I guess I will pursue that instead.

• jeditable accidentally triggering on Draggable on nested items

  I'm using jquery-ui's draggable for drag-and-drop, and jeditable for inline editing. When I drag and drop an element that's also editable, right after it's dropped jeditable kicks in and pops into 'edit mode'. How can I disable this behavior? Edit - the problem happens because of netsting - see this example. I also added draggable to the mix to make the example more realistic (the actual real problem is in this site that I'm working on) Note - even though this question has an accepted answer because of the bounty rules, the problem is still not resolved for me.

• Android: Prompt user to save changes when Back button is pressed

  I have an activity that contains several user editable items (an EditText field, RatingBar, etc). I'd like to prompt the user if the back/home button is pressed and changes have been made that have not yet been saved. After reading through the android documentation, it seems like this piece of code should go in the onPause method. I've tried putting an AlertDialog in the onPause however the dialog gets shown and then immediately tears down because nothing is there to block the pause from completing. • Textbox is disabled after adding text dynamically in codebehind

  Can't quite work out what is happening but The background is that I am dynamically adding table rows in a web page and some of the cells hold controls such as dropdowns etc. One of the columns pulls a size into it. However the column I am having issues with is the next column which takes the text from teh previous dropdown and shows the appropriate price.   What I need is: what trigger to use and where to put it. I will give you an example of what I am doing. I have a Contract form that is fully editable except the contract financial areas, which is read only. I want the user to press a button called, “change rates” and that will have a trigger “When-Button-Pressed” and call_form(UpdateFinancials);. Now, in this screen, I have the user change the financial information such as increase the contract from 50k to 100k. Then the user saves and exits. This will then close the child form "UpdateFinancials" and show the parent form "ContractForm". The problem is, it still has all the old information on it. I need the information in the form to refresh when it gets back from the child form of the Call_Form function.

  I'd like to expose a property on a view model that contains a list of objects (from database). I need this collection to be read-only. That is, I want to prevent Add/Remove, etc. But allow the foreach and indexers to work. My intent is to declare a private field holding the editable collection and reference it with a read-only Public Property. As follows public ObservableCollection<foo> CollectionOfFoo { get { return _CollectionOfFoo; } } However, that syntax just prevents changing the reference to the collection. It doesn't prevent add/remove, etc. What is the right way to accomplish this?

  Hi, First of all it is a UI design question! Which is the best design practice for edit data in RIA, for example in Flex or Silverlight? I would like to show customer's details, but there will be an edit window, than the datas of customer will be editable. I would like to show a new form where the data can be edited. What is the simplest way to show this form. I can make my ui tabbed, so I can open the form in a new tab, or I can open the form in a popup/modal dialog (Save-cancel). • Disable the Go button in the Keyboard for a UITextfield in iphone app.

  Hi, My app has a screen where keyboard is always visible. The main element of the screen is a UITextfield. For easy data entering, keyboard is always made visible. When the user finishes entering data and hits Go, the app performs a 4,5 seconds action which is done in the background thread in order to show UIActivityIndicatorView. My problem is that the Go button on the keyboard still shows as enabled since the logic is performed in the background. The user could potentially hit the Go again causing it to run again. I am not able to set editable/userinteraction properties to No because then the keyboard disappears. Is there anyway just to disable the Go button or freeze the keyboard until the background thread returns?

  I'm setting a jQuery cookie for some site javascript effects. I'm setting expiration date to 30 days. On local development machine cookie expiration is set properly, whereas on production expiration is being set to end of session. After inspecting the created cookies with web develoer tools, everything is identical except production machine cookie is marked as "session cookie" and setting expiration is disallowed, while cookie created on local development machine is not set to "session" and expiration date is editable. Is there a way to make production machine cookie accept the expiration date? • What is the proper way to check the previous value of a field before saving an object? (Using Django

  I have a Django Model with updated_by and an approved_by fields, both are ForeignKey fields to the built-in (auth) User models. I am aware that with updated_by, it's easy enough to simply over-ride the .save() method on the Model, and shove the request.user in that field before saving. However, for approved_by, this field should only ever be filled in when a related field (date_approved) is first filled in. I'm somewhat certain that I can check this logically, and fill in the field if the previous value was empty. What is the proper way to check the previous value of a field before saving an object? I do not anticipate that date_approved will ever be changed or updated, nor should there be any reason to ever update the approved_by entry. UPDATE: Regarding forms/validation, I should have mentioned that none of the fields in question are seen by or editable by users of the site. If I have misunderstood, I'm sorry, but I'm not sure how forms and validation apply to my question.

• Need advice on multitab form in ASP.NET MVC

  Hi all, i need an advice on how to implement my form. I have a requirement: i need a form that spans through 5 tabs. Each tab has around 10 fields, some of them empty, some of them must contain data from db and be non editable. Each of these tabs must be a part of one form that is submitted to my controller. The question is: what is the best way to implement this? I was thinking about having partial views on each tab, each view would have its own model class. After form gets filled all data from all partials would go to action that will take care of all of it. Any advices? I am using ASP.NET MVC 1, Entity Framework 1, mvc extensions from Telerik and jQuery
