  • Why isn't uploadify and asp.net mvc 2 playing nice for me?

    - by Paperino
    First of all, I've checked out all the SO threads, and googled my brains out. I must be missing something obvious. I'd really appreciate some help! This is what I've got. UploadController.cs using System.Web; using System.Web.Mvc; namespace NIMDocs.Controllers { public class UploadController : Controller { public ActionResult Index() { return View(); } public string Procssed(HttpPostedFileBase FileData) { // DO STUFF return "DUHR I AM SMART"; } } } Index for Upload <%@ Page Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" > <head> <title>ITS A TITLE </title> <script src="../../Content/jqueryPlugins/uploadify/jquery-1.3.2.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="../../Content/jqueryPlugins/uploadify/swfobject.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script src="../../Content/jqueryPlugins/uploadify/jquery.uploadify.v2.1.0.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { $('#uploadify').fileUpload({ 'uploader': '../../Content/jqueryPlugins/uploadify/uploadify.swf', 'script': '/Upload/Processed', 'folder': '/uploads', 'multi': 'true', 'buttonText': 'Browse', 'displayData': 'speed', 'simUploadLimit': 2, 'cancelImg': '/Content/Images/cancel.png' }); }); </script> </head> <body> <input type="file" name="uploadify" id="uploadify" /> <p><a href="javascript:jQuery('#uploadify').uploadifyClearQueue()">Cancel All Uploads</a></p> </body> </html> What am I missing here? I've tried just about every path permutation for uploadify's "uploader" option. Absolute path, '/' prefixed, etc.

  • Jquery – Disable/unbind click on active items, rebind click when inactive

    - by j-man86
I have a left-positioned navigation that shows/hides content on the right. Currently, when you click a link, it fades in the corresponding content on the right and adds an active class to that link. My problem is that if you click the active link again, the content on the right keeps on fading in again. I would like to unbind that click while the link is active, and if you click on another navigation link (subsequently removing the class from the previous link and adding it to the current one) rebind the click event to all inactive links. Here is my current code: $('.mixesSidebar ul li').click( function() { //Get the attribute id var liId = $(this).attr('id'); //removeClass active from all li's, addClass active to this $('.mixesSidebar ul li').removeClass('active'); $(this).addClass('active'); //Hide all content on the right $('.mixesContent ul').hide(); //Find the content with the same class as the clicked li's ID, and fadeIn $('.mixesContent').find('.' + liId).fadeIn('slow'); }); Thanks so much for your help!

  • CKEditor inside jQuery Dialog, how do I build it?

    - by Ben Dauphinee
    So, I'm working with CKEditor and jQuery, trying to build a pop-out editor. Below is what I have coded so far, and I can't seem to get it working the way I want it to. Basically, click the 'Edit' link, dialog box pops up, with the content to edit loaded into the CKEditor. Also, not required, but helpful if you can suggest how to do it. I can't seem to find out how to make the save button work in CKEditor (though I think the form will do it). Thanks in advance for any help. $(document).ready(function(){ var config = new Array(); config.height = "350px"; config.resize_enabled = false; config.tabSpaces = 4; config.toolbarCanCollapse = false; config.width = "700px"; config.toolbar_Full = [["Save","-","Cut","Copy","Paste","-","Undo","Redo","-","Bold","Italic", "-", "NumberedList","BulletedList","-","Link","Unlink","-","Image","Table"]]; $("a.opener").click(function(){ var editid = $(this).attr("href"); var editwin = \'<form><div id="header"><input type="text"></div><div id="content"><textarea id="content"></textarea></div></form>\'; var $dialog = $("<div>"+editwin+"</div>").dialog({ autoOpen: false, title: "Editor", height: 360, width: 710, buttons: { "Ok": function(){ var data = $(this).val(); } } }); //$(this).dialog("close"); $.getJSON("ajax/" + editid, function(data){ alert("datagrab"); $dialog.("textarea#content").html(data.content).ckeditor(config); alert("winset"); $dialog.dialog("open"); }); return false; }); });

  • C# 4.0: Named And Optional Arguments

    - by Paulo Morgado
As part of the co-evolution effort of C# and Visual Basic, C# 4.0 introduces Named and Optional Arguments. First of all, let’s clarify what are arguments and parameters: Method definition parameters are the input variables of the method. Method call arguments are the values provided to the method parameters. In fact, the C# Language Specification states the following on §7.5: The argument list (§7.5.1) of a function member invocation provides actual values or variable references for the parameters of the function member. Given the above definitions, we can state that: Parameters have always been named and still are. Parameters have never been optional and still aren’t. Named Arguments Until now, the way the C# compiler matched method call definition arguments with method parameters was by position. The first argument provides the value for the first parameter, the second argument provides the value for the second parameter, and so on and so on, regardless of the name of the parameters. If a parameter was missing a corresponding argument to provide its value, the compiler would emit a compilation error. For this call: Greeting("Mr.", "Morgado", 42); this method: public void Greeting(string title, string name, int age) will receive as parameters: title: “Mr.” name: “Morgado” age: 42 What this new feature allows is to use the names of the parameters to identify the corresponding arguments in the form: name:value Not all arguments in the argument list must be named. However, all named arguments must be at the end of the argument list. The matching between arguments (and the evaluation of its value) and parameters will be done first by name for the named arguments and than by position for the unnamed arguments. This means that, for this method definition: public static void Method(int first, int second, int third) this call declaration: int i = 0; Method(i, third: i++, second: ++i); will have this code generated by the compiler: int i = 0; int CS$0$0000 = i++; int CS$0$0001 = ++i; Method(i, CS$0$0001, CS$0$0000); which will give the method the following parameter values: first: 2 second: 2 third: 0 Notice the variable names. Although invalid being invalid C# identifiers, they are valid .NET identifiers and thus avoiding collision between user written and compiler generated code. Besides allowing to re-order of the argument list, this feature is very useful for auto-documenting the code, for example, when the argument list is very long or not clear, from the call site, what the arguments are. Optional Arguments Parameters can now have default values: public static void Method(int first, int second = 2, int third = 3) Parameters with default values must be the last in the parameter list and its value is used as the value of the parameter if the corresponding argument is missing from the method call declaration. For this call declaration: int i = 0; Method(i, third: ++i); will have this code generated by the compiler: int i = 0; int CS$0$0000 = ++i; Method(i, 2, CS$0$0000); which will give the method the following parameter values: first: 1 second: 2 third: 1 Because, when method parameters have default values, arguments can be omitted from the call declaration, this might seem like method overloading or a good replacement for it, but it isn’t. Although methods like this: public static StreamReader OpenTextFile( string path, Encoding encoding = null, bool detectEncoding = true, int bufferSize = 1024) allow to have its calls written like this: OpenTextFile("foo.txt", Encoding.UTF8); OpenTextFile("foo.txt", Encoding.UTF8, bufferSize: 4096); OpenTextFile( bufferSize: 4096, path: "foo.txt", detectEncoding: false); The complier handles default values like constant fields taking the value and useing it instead of a reference to the value. So, like with constant fields, methods with parameters with default values are exposed publicly (and remember that internal members might be publicly accessible – InternalsVisibleToAttribute). If such methods are publicly accessible and used by another assembly, those values will be hard coded in the calling code and, if the called assembly has its default values changed, they won’t be assumed by already compiled code. At the first glance, I though that using optional arguments for “bad” written code was great, but the ability to write code like that was just pure evil. But than I realized that, since I use private constant fields, it’s OK to use default parameter values on privately accessed methods.

  • Translating with Google Translate without API and C# Code

    - by Rick Strahl
Some time back I created a data base driven ASP.NET Resource Provider along with some tools that make it easy to edit ASP.NET resources interactively in a Web application. One of the small helper features of the interactive resource admin tool is the ability to do simple translations using both Google Translate and Babelfish. Here's what this looks like in the resource administration form: When a resource is displayed, the user can click a Translate button and it will show the current resource text and then lets you set the source and target languages to translate. The Go button fires the translation for both Google and Babelfish and displays them - pressing use then changes the language of the resource to the target language and sets the resource value to the newly translated value. It's a nice and quick way to get a quick translation going. Ch… Ch… Changes Originally, both implementations basically did some screen scraping of the interactive Web sites and retrieved translated text out of result HTML. Screen scraping is always kind of an iffy proposition as content can be changed easily, but surprisingly that code worked for many years without fail. Recently however, Google at least changed their input pages to use AJAX callbacks and the page updates no longer worked the same way. End result: The Google translate code was broken. Now, Google does have an official API that you can access, but the API is being deprecated and you actually need to have an API key. Since I have public samples that people can download the API key is an issue if I want people to have the samples work out of the box - the only way I could even do this is by sharing my API key (not allowed).   However, after a bit of spelunking and playing around with the public site however I found that Google's interactive translate page actually makes callbacks using plain public access without an API key. By intercepting some of those AJAX calls and calling them directly from code I was able to get translation back up and working with minimal fuss, by parsing out the JSON these AJAX calls return. I don't think this particular Warning: This is hacky code, but after a fair bit of testing I found this to work very well with all sorts of languages and accented and escaped text etc. as long as you stick to small blocks of translated text. I thought I'd share it in case anybody else had been relying on a screen scraping mechanism like I did and needed a non-API based replacement. Here's the code: /// <summary> /// Translates a string into another language using Google's translate API JSON calls. /// <seealso>Class TranslationServices</seealso> /// </summary> /// <param name="Text">Text to translate. Should be a single word or sentence.</param> /// <param name="FromCulture"> /// Two letter culture (en of en-us, fr of fr-ca, de of de-ch) /// </param> /// <param name="ToCulture"> /// Two letter culture (as for FromCulture) /// </param> public string TranslateGoogle(string text, string fromCulture, string toCulture) { fromCulture = fromCulture.ToLower(); toCulture = toCulture.ToLower(); // normalize the culture in case something like en-us was passed // retrieve only en since Google doesn't support sub-locales string[] tokens = fromCulture.Split('-'); if (tokens.Length > 1) fromCulture = tokens[0]; // normalize ToCulture tokens = toCulture.Split('-'); if (tokens.Length > 1) toCulture = tokens[0]; string url = string.Format(@"http://translate.google.com/translate_a/t?client=j&text={0}&hl=en&sl={1}&tl={2}", HttpUtility.UrlEncode(text),fromCulture,toCulture); // Retrieve Translation with HTTP GET call string html = null; try { WebClient web = new WebClient(); // MUST add a known browser user agent or else response encoding doen't return UTF-8 (WTF Google?) web.Headers.Add(HttpRequestHeader.UserAgent, "Mozilla/5.0"); web.Headers.Add(HttpRequestHeader.AcceptCharset, "UTF-8"); // Make sure we have response encoding to UTF-8 web.Encoding = Encoding.UTF8; html = web.DownloadString(url); } catch (Exception ex) { this.ErrorMessage = Westwind.Globalization.Resources.Resources.ConnectionFailed + ": " + ex.GetBaseException().Message; return null; } // Extract out trans":"...[Extracted]...","from the JSON string string result = Regex.Match(html, "trans\":(\".*?\"),\"", RegexOptions.IgnoreCase).Groups[1].Value; if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(result)) { this.ErrorMessage = Westwind.Globalization.Resources.Resources.InvalidSearchResult; return null; } //return WebUtils.DecodeJsString(result); // Result is a JavaScript string so we need to deserialize it properly JavaScriptSerializer ser = new JavaScriptSerializer(); return ser.Deserialize(result, typeof(string)) as string; } To use the code is straightforward enough - simply provide a string to translate and a pair of two letter source and target languages: string result = service.TranslateGoogle("Life is great and one is spoiled when it goes on and on and on", "en", "de"); TestContext.WriteLine(result); How it works The code to translate is fairly straightforward. It basically uses the URL I snagged from the Google Translate Web Page slightly changed to return a JSON result (&client=j) instead of the funky nested PHP style JSON array that the default returns. The JSON result returned looks like this: {"sentences":[{"trans":"Das Leben ist großartig und man wird verwöhnt, wenn es weiter und weiter und weiter geht","orig":"Life is great and one is spoiled when it goes on and on and on","translit":"","src_translit":""}],"src":"en","server_time":24} I use WebClient to make an HTTP GET call to retrieve the JSON data and strip out part of the full JSON response that contains the actual translated text. Since this is a JSON response I need to deserialize the JSON string in case it's encoded (for upper/lower ASCII chars or quotes etc.). Couple of odd things to note in this code: First note that a valid user agent string must be passed (or at least one starting with a common browser identification - I use Mozilla/5.0). Without this Google doesn't encode the result with UTF-8, but instead uses a ISO encoding that .NET can't easily decode. Google seems to ignore the character set header and use the user agent instead which is - odd to say the least. The other is that the code returns a full JSON response. Rather than use the full response and decode it into a custom type that matches Google's result object, I just strip out the translated text. Yeah I know that's hacky but avoids an extra type and firing up the JavaScript deserializer. My internal version uses a small DecodeJsString() method to decode Javascript without the overhead of a full JSON parser. It's obviously not rocket science but as mentioned above what's nice about it is that it works without an Google API key. I can't vouch on how many translates you can do before there are cut offs but in my limited testing running a few stress tests on a Web server under load I didn't run into any problems. Limitations There are some restrictions with this: It only works on single words or single sentences - multiple sentences (delimited by .) are cut off at the ".". There is also a length limitation which appears to happen at around 220 characters or so. While that may not sound  like much for typical word or phrase translations this this is plenty of length. Use with a grain of salt - Google seems to be trying to limit their exposure to usage of the Translate APIs so this code might break in the future, but for now at least it works. FWIW, I also found that Google's translation is not as good as Babelfish, especially for contextual content like sentences. Google is faster, but Babelfish tends to give better translations. This is why in my translation tool I show both Google and Babelfish values retrieved. You can check out the code for this in the West Wind West Wind Web Toolkit's TranslationService.cs file which contains both the Google and Babelfish translation code pieces. Ironically the Babelfish code has been working forever using screen scraping and continues to work just fine today. I think it's a good idea to have multiple translation providers in case one is down or changes its format, hence the dual display in my translation form above. I hope this has been helpful to some of you - I've actually had many small uses for this code in a number of applications and it's sweet to have a simple routine that performs these operations for me easily. When I go into SharePoint designer 2010 and try to setup a new External Content Type, I get the following error: "There is no Business Connectivity Service associated with the current web context." Am I missing something with the configuration or why am I not able to setup a new External Content Type to point to my existing SQL database

  • jQuery.ajax call to Twitter succeeds but returns null for Firefox

    - by Zhami
I've got code that makes a simple get request to Twitter (search) using jQuery's ajax method. The code works fine on Safari, but fails on Firefox (3.6.3). In the Firefox case, my jQuery.ajax parameters 'success' method is invoked, but the supplied data is null. (In Safari, I receive a boatload of JSON data). My ajax call is: $.ajax({ url: 'http://search.twitter.com/search.json?q='+searchTerm, dataType: 'json', async: true, beforeSend: function(request) { window.console.log('starting AJAX request to get Twitter data'); }, success: function(data, textStatus, request) { window.console.log('AJAX request to get Twitter succeeded: status=' + textStatus); callback(data); }, error: function(request, status, error) { window.console.log('AJAX request to get user data --> Error: ' + status); errback(request, status, error); } }); Firebug shows Response headers: Date Sun, 11 Apr 2010 22:30:26 GMT Server hi Status 200 OK X-Served-From b021 X-Runtime 0.23841 Content-Type application/json; charset=utf-8 X-Served-By sjc1o024.prod.twitter.com X-Timeline-Cache-Hit Miss Cache-Control max-age=15, must-revalidate, max-age=300 Expires Sun, 11 Apr 2010 22:35:26 GMT Vary Accept-Encoding X-Varnish 1827846877 Age 0 Via 1.1 varnish X-Cache-Svr sjc1o024.prod.twitter.com X-Cache MISS Content-Encoding gzip Content-Length 2126 Connection close The HTTP status is OK (200), the Conetnt-Type is properly application/json, and the Content-Length of 2126 (gzip'd) implies data came back. Yet Firebug shows the Response to be empty, and a test of the supplied data shows it o be 'null.' I am aware of a similar post on Stack Overflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1188976/jquery-get-function-succeeds-with-200-but-returns-no-content-in-firefox and from that would assume this problem is possibly related to cross-domain security, but... I know there are many JS widgets and whatnots that ajax get data from Twitter. Is there something I need to enable to allow this?

  • IE dropdown z-index bug

    - by Justine
I'm having a problem with a dropdown menu under IE (6 and 7). http://www.amaconsulting.pl/promocje.html As you can see, the dropdown hides behind the main content area in IE. It's a known bug and general advice is to set a z-index for header and content areas, so IE knows their "place", explained in the article here: http://bit.ly/coSPcI I've set the z-index of .header div to 20 and .featured, .content, .primary, .main to 1, trying to find the right div to fix the problem. While the dropdown stopped hiding behind the .featured div, it still hides behind the main content divs (either .primary or .main, .secondary is fine). The z-indexes for these divs are set in a separate stylesheet, ie.css, in case someone'll be looking for them. If someone could provide some advice, I'd be very grateful.

  • ASP.NET MVC model binding with nested child models and PartialViews

    - by MartinHN
I have a model called Page, which has a property called Content of type EditableContent. EditableContent have SidebarLeft and SidebarRight (type TemplateSection). I want to edit the Page instance, in my Edit.aspx view. Because EditableContent is also attached to other models, I have a PartialView called ContentEditor.ascx that is strongly typed and takes an instance of EditableContent and renders it. The rendering part all works fine, but when I post - everything inside my ContentEditor is not binded - which means that Page.Content is null. On the PartialView, I use the strongly typed Html Helpers to do this: <%= Html.HiddenFor(m => m.TemplateId) %> And so on. But because the input elements on the form, rendered by ContentEditor.ascx, does not get the "Content" prefix to its id attribute - the values are not binded to Page. So to overcome this, I've definitely done the wrong thing. Used loosely typed Html Helpers instead: <%= Html.Hidden("Content.TemplateId", Model.TemplateId) %> And when I'm dealing with a property that is a List of something it gets very ugly. I then have to render collection indexes manually... doh What am I missing here? A BindPrefix in the controller action that the Form is being posted to? Should I put both Page and EditableContent as parameters to the controller action: public ActionResult Edit(Page page, EditableContent content) { ... } Any help is much appreciated!

  • sort mysql query by filtered query

    - by kalpaitch
I have two mysql queries: $sql = "SELECT * FROM content WHERE threadName LIKE '%$filter%' ORDER BY lastUpdated desc"; and $sql = "SELECT * FROM content ORDER BY lastUpdated desc"; The end result is to have all rows returned from a particular table 'content' but have those that match the variable $filter at the top. Is there either a single query that could combine these two or should I be using a JOIN?

  • Existing web-site CSS replacement (re-skinning) best-practices without changing the HTML

    - by Enigmativity
I can see a number of other good answers to questions relating to CSS best-practices on stack overflow: How to Manage CSS Explosion CSS Conventions / Code Layout Models Are there any CSS standards that I should follow while writing my first stylesheet? What is the best method for tidying CSS? Best Practices - CSS Stylesheet Formatting But I think I have a different problem. I'm trying to "re-skin" an existing site that has been nicely built using div's and ul's, etc, and it has a good existing CSS file, but when I start making changes to the CSS I quickly find that I break the layout. My feeling is that it is very hard to get a feel for how all the CSS will work together and indeed what CSS is affecting parent and sibling elements in the HTML. So, my question is "what are the best-practices around re-skinning an existing web-site by replacing the CSS only and not modifying the existing HTML?" I can't change the classes, ids, node hierarchy, etc. An example of the particular site that I am trying to re-skin is http://demo.nopcommerce.com/. The existing CSS can be as complicated/detailed as this extract from the main CSS file: .header-selectors-wrapper { text-align: right; float: right; width: 500px; } .header-currencyselector { float: right; } .header-languageselector { float: left; } .header-taxDisplayTypeSelector { float: right; } .header-links-wrapper { float: right; text-align: right; width: 570px; } .header-links { border: solid 1px #9a9a9a; padding: 5px 5px 5px 5px; margin-bottom: 5px; display: inline-table; } .order-summary-content .cart .cart-item-row td, .wishlist-content .cart .cart-item-row td { border-bottom: 1px solid #c5c5c5; vertical-align: middle; line-height: 30px; } .order-summary-content .cart .cart-item-row td.product, .wishlist-content .cart .cart-item-row td.product { text-align: left; padding: 0px 10px 0px 10px; } .order-summary-content .cart .cart-item-row td.product a, .wishlist-content .cart .cart-item-row td.product a { font-weight: bold; } Any help would be appreciated.

  • ContentType DocumentTemplate not found in a List

    - by Rich Bennema
I have the following Feature: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <Feature Id="9A3C5D02-A2EB-4725-97F7-CDA6DE319F1B" Title="My Custom Types" Scope="Site" DefaultResourceFile="core" Hidden="TRUE" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/"> <ElementManifests> <ElementManifest Location="Elements.xml" /> <ElementFile Location="templates/MeetingMinutes.docx" /> </ElementManifests> </Feature> Which contains the following Elements.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <Elements xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/"> <Module Name="Templates" Url="_cts/Meeting Minutes" Path="templates" RootWebOnly="TRUE"> <File Url="MeetingMinutes.docx" Type="Ghostable" /> </Module> <ContentType ID="0x01010066DD088A6B8B46BCA775CCD119FBB3E8" Name="Meeting Minutes" Group="Custom Content Types" Version="0"> <FieldRefs /> <DocumentTemplate TargetName="MeetingMinutes.docx"/> </ContentType> </Elements> I then use this ContentType within a custom List Template. I deploy the solution, activate the feature, and create an instance of the List Template. I go into the library and select Settings Document Library Settings Content Types: Meeting Minutes Parent: Meeting Minutes Advanced settings. I'm now in the Advance Settings of the Site Content Type. The URL of the existing document template is MeetingMinutes.docx and there is an (Edit Template) link which points to http://myserver/sites/testsite/_cts/Meeting%20Minutes/MeetingMinutes.docx. Everything's shiny. But, I hit the back button two times so I'm back in the settings of the List Content Type. This time when I click Advance settings, the URL of the existing document template is still MeetingMinutes.docx, but there is no (Edit Template) link. Troubling. Pressing on, I go back to AllItems.aspx and click New Meeting Minutes. As Word is loading, I see a little Opening dialog which says, Opening: http://myserver/sites/testsite/Shared%20Documents/Forms/Document/MeetingMinutes.docx, to which Word responds: "Word was unable to read this document. It may be corrupt." So the Document Template works correctly in the Site Content Type (where it does me no good), but is not working in the List Content Type (where I really need it). Now, I know I could put this in _layouts, but from what I've read, _cts is the way to do it. What am I doing wrong?

  • Glassfish v2 alternatedocroot - will DAS sync it?

    - by ring bearer
Using Sun Glassfish Enterprise server v2.1.1 I am using "alternatedocroot" via sun-web.xml for my web application to abstract out static content from actual deploy-able code (EAR/WAR) What I have is a cluster of two server instances distributed across two physical hosts - HOST1 and HOST2. "alternatedocroot" points to /data/static-content/ on both HOST1 and HOST2. Would DAS (Domain application server )take care of syncing /data/static-content between HOST1 and HOST2 if I use syncinstances=true option while starting up the cluster? Thanks!

  • Problem binding action parameters using FCKeditor, AJAX and ASP.NET MVC

    - by TonE
I have a simple ASP.Net MVC View which contains an FCKeditor text box (created using FCKeditor's Javascript ReplaceTextArea() function). These are included within an Ajax.BeginForm helper: <% using (Ajax.BeginForm("AddText", "Letters", new AjaxOptions() { UpdateTargetId = "addTextResult" })) {%> <div> <input type="submit" value="Save" /> </div> <div> <%=Html.TextArea("testBox", "Content", new { @name = "testBox" })%> <script type=""text/javascript""> window.onload = function() { var oFCKeditor = new FCKeditor('testBox') ; var sBasePath = '<%= Url.Content("~/Content/FCKeditor/") %>'; oFCKeditor.BasePath = sBasePath; oFCKeditor.ToolbarSet = "Basic"; oFCKeditor.Height = 400; oFCKeditor.ReplaceTextarea() ; } </script> <div id="addTextResult"> </div> <%} %> The controller action hanlding this is: [ValidateInput(false)] public ActionResult AddText(string testBox) { return Content(testBox); } Upon initial submission of the Ajax Form the testBox string in the AddText action is always "Content", whatever the contents of the FCKeditor have been changed to. If the Ajax form is submitted again a second time (without further changes) the testBox paramater correctly contains the actual contents of the FCKeditor. If I use a Html.TextArea without replacing with FCKeditor it works correctly, and if I use a standard Post form submit inplace of AJAX all works as expected. Am I doing something wrong? If not is there a suitable/straight-forward workaround for this problem?

  • September 2012 Release of the Ajax Control Toolkit

    - by Stephen.Walther
I’m excited to announce the September 2012 release of the Ajax Control Toolkit! This is the first release of the Ajax Control Toolkit which supports the .NET 4.5 framework. We also continue to support ASP.NET 3.5 and ASP.NET 4.0. With this release, we’ve made several important bug fixes. The Superexpert team focused on fixing the highest voted issues associated with the CascadingDropDown control. I’ve created a list of these bug fixes later in this blog post. You can download the latest release of the Ajax Control Toolkit by visiting the following page at CodePlex: http://AjaxControlToolkit.CodePlex.com Alternatively, you can install the latest version of the Ajax Control Toolkit using NuGet by firing off the following command from the Package Manager Console: Install-Package AjaxControlToolkit Using the Ajax Control Toolkit with ASP.NET 4.5 Let me walk through the steps for using the Ajax Control Toolkit with ASP.NET 4.5. First, I’ll create a new ASP.NET 4.5 website with Visual Studio 2012. I’ll create the new website with the ASP.NET Web Forms Application template: When you create a new ASP.NET 4.5 site with the ASP.NET Web Forms Application template, you get a starter website. If you run the site, then you get a page with default content: Let me show you how you can add the Ajax Control Toolkit Calendar control to the homepage of this starter site. The first step is to use NuGet to install the Ajax Control Toolkit. Right-click the References folder in the Solution Explorer window and select the menu option Manage NuGet Packages. In the Manage NuGet Packages dialog, use the search box to search for the Ajax Control Toolkit (enter “AjaxControlToolkit”). After you find it, click the Install button to add the Ajax Control Toolkit to your project. That’s all you have to do to install the Ajax Control Toolkit! Now we are ready to start using the Ajax Control Toolkit controls. Open the default.aspx page so we can modify the contents of the page. Erase everything contained in the Content control with the ID of BodyContent. After erasing the content, declare the following two controls: <asp:TextBox ID="vacationDate" runat="server" /> <ajaxToolkit:CalendarExtender TargetControlID="vacationDate" runat="server" /> The first control is a standard ASP.NET TextBox control and the second control is an Ajax Control Toolkit Calendar control. You should get intellisense as you type out the Ajax Control Toolkit Calendar control. If you don’t, then close and re-open the Default.aspx page. Now, let’s run our app. Hit the F5 button or select Debug, Start Debugging from the Visual Studio menu. You will get the error message “MsAjaxBundle is not a valid script name”. Don’t despair! We need to update the Master Page so it uses the ToolkitScriptManager instead of the default ScriptManager. Open the Site.Master file and find where the ScriptManager is declared. The ScriptManager should look like this: <asp:ScriptManager runat="server"> <Scripts> <%--Framework Scripts--%> <asp:ScriptReference Name="MsAjaxBundle" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="jquery" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="jquery.ui.combined" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="WebForms.js" Assembly="System.Web" Path="~/Scripts/WebForms/WebForms.js" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="WebUIValidation.js" Assembly="System.Web" Path="~/Scripts/WebForms/WebUIValidation.js" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="MenuStandards.js" Assembly="System.Web" Path="~/Scripts/WebForms/MenuStandards.js" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="GridView.js" Assembly="System.Web" Path="~/Scripts/WebForms/GridView.js" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="DetailsView.js" Assembly="System.Web" Path="~/Scripts/WebForms/DetailsView.js" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="TreeView.js" Assembly="System.Web" Path="~/Scripts/WebForms/TreeView.js" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="WebParts.js" Assembly="System.Web" Path="~/Scripts/WebForms/WebParts.js" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="Focus.js" Assembly="System.Web" Path="~/Scripts/WebForms/Focus.js" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="WebFormsBundle" /> <%--Site Scripts--%> </Scripts> </asp:ScriptManager> We need to make three changes to the ScriptManager: 1) We need to replace the asp:ScriptManager with the ajaxToolkit:ToolkitScriptManager 2) We need to remove the MsAjaxBundle bundle from the ScriptReferences 3) We need to remove the Assembly=”System.Web” attributes from the ScriptReferences After you make these three changes, the ToolkitScriptManager should looks like this: <ajaxToolkit:ToolkitScriptManager runat="server"> <Scripts> <%--Framework Scripts--%> <asp:ScriptReference Name="jquery" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="jquery.ui.combined" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="WebForms.js" Path="~/Scripts/WebForms/WebForms.js" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="WebUIValidation.js" Path="~/Scripts/WebForms/WebUIValidation.js" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="MenuStandards.js" Path="~/Scripts/WebForms/MenuStandards.js" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="GridView.js" Path="~/Scripts/WebForms/GridView.js" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="DetailsView.js" Path="~/Scripts/WebForms/DetailsView.js" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="TreeView.js" Path="~/Scripts/WebForms/TreeView.js" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="WebParts.js" Path="~/Scripts/WebForms/WebParts.js" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="Focus.js" Path="~/Scripts/WebForms/Focus.js" /> <asp:ScriptReference Name="WebFormsBundle" /> <%--Site Scripts--%> </Scripts> </ajaxToolkit:ToolkitScriptManager> After we make these changes, the app should run successfully. You’ll get a page which contains a text field. When you click inside the text field, a popup calendar is displayed. Ajax Control Toolkit and jQuery You might have noticed that the ScriptManager includes a reference to jQuery by default. We did not remove that reference when we converted the ScriptManager to a ToolkitScriptManager. You can use the Ajax Control Toolkit and jQuery side-by-side. Here’s how you can modify the Default.aspx page so that it contains two popup calendars. The first popup calendar is created with the Ajax Control Toolkit and the second popup calendar is created with jQuery: <asp:TextBox ID="vacationDate" runat="server" /> <ajaxToolkit:CalendarExtender TargetControlID="vacationDate" runat="server" /> <input id="birthDate" /> <script> $("#birthDate").datepicker(); </script> Before you can start using jQuery UI plugins, you need to complete one more step. You need to add the jQuery UI themes bundle to the HEAD of the Site.Master page like this: <head runat="server"> <meta charset="utf-8" /> <title><%: Page.Title %> - My ASP.NET Application</title> <asp:PlaceHolder runat="server"> <%: Scripts.Render("~/bundles/modernizr") %> </asp:PlaceHolder> <webopt:BundleReference runat="server" Path="~/Content/css" /> <webopt:BundleReference runat="server" Path="~/Content/themes/base/css" /> <link href="~/favicon.ico" rel="shortcut icon" type="image/x-icon" /> <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width" /> <asp:ContentPlaceHolder runat="server" ID="HeadContent" /> </head> The markup above includes a reference to the jQuery UI themes bundle: <webopt:BundleReference runat="server" Path="~/Content/themes/base/css" /> Now that we have made these changes, we can use the Ajax Control Toolkit and jQuery at the same time. When you run your app, you get two popup calendars. When you click in the first text field, the Ajax Control Toolkit calendar appears. When you click in the second text field, the jQuery UI popup calendar appears: Bug Fixes in this Release We made several important bug fixes with this release of the Ajax Control Toolkit and integrated several Pull Requests contributed by the community. • Databind gridview with LINQ

    - by Anders Svensson
I have two database tables, one for Users of a web site, containing the fields "UserID", "Name" and the foreign key "PageID". And the other with the fields "PageID" (here the primary key), and "Url". I want to be able to show the data in a gridview with data from both tables, and I'd like to do it with databinding in the aspx page. I'm not sure how to do this, though, and I can't find any good examples of this particular situation. Here's what I have so far: <%@ Page Title="Home Page" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Site.master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="LinqBinding._Default" %> <asp:Content ID="HeaderContent" runat="server" ContentPlaceHolderID="HeadContent"> </asp:Content> <asp:Content ID="BodyContent" runat="server" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent"> <h2> Testing LINQ </h2> <asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" DataSourceID="LinqDataSourceUsers" AutoGenerateColumns="false"> <Columns> <asp:CommandField ShowSelectButton="True" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="UserID" HeaderText="UserID" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Name" HeaderText="Name" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="PageID" HeaderText="PageID" /> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Pages"> <ItemTemplate <asp:DropDownList ID="DropDownList1" DataSourceID="LinqDataSourcePages" SelectedValue='<%#Bind("PageID") %>' DataTextField="Url" DataValueField="PageID" runat="server"> </asp:DropDownList> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> </Columns> </asp:GridView> <asp:LinqDataSource ID="LinqDataSourcePages" runat="server" ContextTypeName="LinqBinding.UserDataContext" EntityTypeName="" TableName="Pages"> </asp:LinqDataSource> <asp:LinqDataSource ID="LinqDataSourceUsers" runat="server" ContextTypeName="LinqBinding.UserDataContext" EntityTypeName="" TableName="Users"> </asp:LinqDataSource> </asp:Content> But this only works in so far as it gets the user table into the gridview (that's not a problem), and I get the page data into the dropdown, but here's the problem: I of course get ALL the page data in there, not just the pages for each user on each row. So how do I put some sort of "where" constraint on dropdown for each row to only show the pages for the user in that row? (Also, to be honest I'm not sure I'm getting the foreign key relationship right, because I'm not too used to working with relationships). EDIT: I think I have set up the relationship incorrectly. I keep getting the message that "Pages" doesn't exist as a property on the User object. And I guess it can't since the relationship right now is one way. So I tried to create a many-to-many relationship. Again, my database knowledge is a bit limited, but I added a so called "junction table" with the fields UserID and PageID, same as the other tables' primary keys. I wasn't able to make both of these primary keys in the junction table though (which it looked like some people had in examples I've seen...but since it wasn't possible I guessed they shouldn't be). Anyway, I created a relationship from each table and created new LINQ classes from that. But then what do I do? I set the junction table as the Linq data source, since I guessed I had to do this to access both tables, but that doesn't work. Then it complains there is no Name property on that object. So how do I access the related tables? Here's what I have now with the many-to-many relationship: <%@ Page Title="Home Page" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/Site.master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="ManyToMany._Default" %> <asp:Content ID="HeaderContent" runat="server" ContentPlaceHolderID="HeadContent"> </asp:Content> <asp:Content ID="BodyContent" runat="server" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent"> <h2> Many to many LINQ </h2> <asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" DataSourceID="LinqDataSource1" AutoGenerateColumns="false"> <Columns> <asp:CommandField ShowSelectButton="True" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="UserID" HeaderText="UserID" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Name" HeaderText="Name" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="PageID" HeaderText="PageID" /> <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Pages"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:DropDownList ID="DropDownList1" DataSource='<%#Eval("Pages") %>' SelectedValue='<%#Bind("PageID") %>' DataTextField="Url" DataValueField="PageID" runat="server"> </asp:DropDownList> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> </Columns> </asp:GridView> <asp:LinqDataSource ID="LinqDataSource1" runat="server" ContextTypeName="ManyToMany.UserPageDataContext" EntityTypeName="" TableName="UserPages"> </asp:LinqDataSource> </asp:Content>

  • Getting RINGING response on SIP UAC without sending it from the other UAC

    - by TacB0sS
    Hi, I hope this would be my last question about this SIP subject, I have managed to overcome the last issue I had by asking a friend to help me from a remote computer, I'm able to connect between the computers, but here is the thing, according to all the examples I saw, the Callee should invoke the Ringing response, but in my application case I didn't implement it yet, but I still receive on the Caller UAC a Ringing response, this is the SIP messages that are on the caller end: Outgoing Request 5: INVITE sip:[email protected] SIP/2.0 Contact: "Client 310" <sip:[email protected]> From: "Client 310" <sip:[email protected]> Max-Forwards: 32 CSeq: 2 INVITE Call-ID: [email protected] Allow: INVITE,CANCEL,ACK,BYE,OPTIONS Content-Type: application/sdp Proxy-Authorization: Digest username="310",nonce="012afffb",realm="asterisk",uri="sip:[email protected]",algorithm=MD5,response="d19ca5b98450b4be7bd4045edb8a3a2f" Via: SIP/2.0/UDP hostName.hn:5060 To: "Client 320" <sip:[email protected]>;tag=as5a8fa200 Content-Length: 257 v=0 o=310 7108915969559970847 7108915969559970847 IN IP4 xxx.xxx.x.xxx s=- i=Nu-Art Software - TacB0sS VoIP information c=IN IP4 xxx.xxx.x.xxx m=audio 3312 RTP/AVP 0 8 101 a=rtpmap:0 PCMU/8000 a=rtpmap:8 PCMA/8000 a=rtpmap:101 telephone-event/8000 Incoming Response 6: SIP/2.0 100 Trying Via: SIP/2.0/UDP hostName.hn:5060;branch=f8d171d3278788df9e03eb9cf3acba70-xxx.xxx.x.xxx-2-invite-hostName.hn-5060333732;received=79.181.6.233 From: "Client 310" <sip:[email protected]> To: "Client 320" <sip:[email protected]>;tag=as5a8fa200 Call-ID: [email protected] CSeq: 2 INVITE User-Agent: Freeswitch 1.2.3 Allow: INVITE,ACK,CANCEL,OPTIONS,BYE,REFER,SUBSCRIBE,NOTIFY,INFO Supported: replaces Contact: <sip:[email protected]> Content-Length: 0 Incoming Response 7: SIP/2.0 180 Ringing Via: SIP/2.0/UDP hostName.hn:5060;branch=f8d171d3278788df9e03eb9cf3acba70-xxx.xxx.x.xxx-2-invite-hostName.hn-5060333732;received=79.181.6.233 From: "Client 310" <sip:[email protected]> To: "Client 320" <sip:[email protected]>;tag=as5a8fa200 Call-ID: [email protected] CSeq: 2 INVITE User-Agent: Freeswitch 1.2.3 Allow: INVITE,ACK,CANCEL,OPTIONS,BYE,REFER,SUBSCRIBE,NOTIFY,INFO Supported: replaces Contact: <sip:[email protected]> Content-Length: 0 Call to: [email protected] is Ringing Incoming Response 8: SIP/2.0 183 Session Progress Via: SIP/2.0/UDP hostName.hn:5060;branch=f8d171d3278788df9e03eb9cf3acba70-xxx.xxx.x.xxx-2-invite-hostName.hn-5060333732;received=79.181.6.233 From: "Client 310" <sip:[email protected]> To: "Client 320" <sip:[email protected]>;tag=as5a8fa200 Call-ID: [email protected] CSeq: 2 INVITE User-Agent: Freeswitch 1.2.3 Allow: INVITE,ACK,CANCEL,OPTIONS,BYE,REFER,SUBSCRIBE,NOTIFY,INFO Supported: replaces Contact: <sip:[email protected]> Content-Type: application/sdp Content-Length: 264 v=0 o=root 27669 27669 IN IP4 yy.yy.yy.yy s=session c=IN IP4 yy.yy.yy.yy t=0 0 m=audio 10914 RTP/AVP 0 8 101 a=rtpmap:0 PCMU/8000 a=rtpmap:8 PCMA/8000 a=rtpmap:101 telephone-event/8000 a=fmtp:101 0-16 a=silenceSupp:off - - - - a=ptime:20 a=sendrecv Incoming Response 9: SIP/2.0 503 Service Unavailable Via: SIP/2.0/UDP hostName.hn:5060;branch=f8d171d3278788df9e03eb9cf3acba70-xxx.xxx.x.xxx-2-invite-hostName.hn-5060333732;received=79.181.6.233 From: "Client 310" <sip:[email protected]> To: "Client 320" <sip:[email protected]>;tag=as5a8fa200 Call-ID: [email protected] CSeq: 2 INVITE User-Agent: Freeswitch 1.2.3 Allow: INVITE,ACK,CANCEL,OPTIONS,BYE,REFER,SUBSCRIBE,NOTIFY,INFO Supported: replaces Content-Length: 0 I do not respond to the invite, that is why all this is happening, but why am I getting a ringing if I'm not the one sending it. • Replace text in Word Document via ASP.NET

    - by jreedinc
How can I replace a string/word in a Word Document via ASP.NET? I just need to replace a couple words in the document, so I would like to stay AWAY from 3rd party plugins & interop. I would like to do this by opening the file and replacing the text. The following attempts were made: I created a StreamReader and Writer to read the file but I think that I am reading and writing in the wrong format. I think that Word Documents are stored in binary?? If word documents are binary, how would I read and write the file in binary? Dim template As String = Request.MapPath("documentName.doc") If File.Exists(template) Then Dim sr As New StreamReader(template) Dim content As String = sr.ReadToEnd() sr.Close() Dim sw As New StreamWriter(template) content = content.Replace("@ T O D A Y S D A T E", Date.Now.ToString("MM/dd/yyyy")) sw.Write(content) sw.Close() Else

  • Am I going about this the right way?

    - by Psytronic
Hey Guys, I'm starting a WPF project, and just finished the base of the UI, it seems very convoluted though, so I'm not sure if I've gone around laying it out in the right way. I don't want to get to start developing the back-end and realise that I've done the front wrong, and make life harder for myself. Coming from a background of <DIV's and CSS to style this is a lot different, and really want to get it right from the start. Essentially it's a one week calendar (7 days, Mon-Sunday, defaulting to the current week.) Which will eventually link up to a DB and if I have an appointment for something on this day it will show it in the relevant day. I've opted for a Grid rather than ListView because of the way it will work I will not be binding the results to a collection or anything along those lines. Rather I will be filling out a Combo box within the canvas for each day (yet to be placed in the code) for each event and on selection it will show me further details. XAML: <Window x:Class="WOW_Widget.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" • How to create this MongoMapper custom data type?

    - by Kapslok
I'm trying to create a custom MongoMapper data type in RoR 2.3.5 called Translatable: class Translatable < String def initialize(translation, culture="en") end def languages end def has_translation(culture)? end def self.to_mongo(value) end def self.from_mongo(value) end end I want to be able to use it like this: class Page include MongoMapper::Document key :title, Translatable, :required => true key :content, String end Then implement like this: p = Page.new p.title = "Hello" p.title(:fr) = "Bonjour" p.title(:es) = "Hola" p.content = "Some content here" p.save p = Page.first p.languages => [:en, :fr, :es] p.has_translation(:fr) => true en = p.title => "Hello" en = p.title(:en) => "Hello" fr = p.title(:fr) => "Bonjour" es = p.title(:es) => "Hola" In mongoDB I imagine the information would be stored like: { "_id" : ObjectId("4b98cd7803bca46ca6000002"), "title" : { "en" : "Hello", "fr" : "Bonjour", "es" : "Hola" }, "content" : "Some content here" } So Page.title is a string that defaults to English (:en) when culture is not specified. I would really appreciate any help.
